We came for a demo by Allplay. We stayed because of the vibe and service. We got a few drinks (didn't try any food). There is plenty of space here and you won't be disappointed! You can choose from a wall of board games to play.

Their waffles are terrible, although their pizza waffle is passable. They have very few options other than waffles which is wild to me. Not even basic French fries! I tried a fried pickle waffle and it cut up my mouth and was too greasy and salty. Still, I come here because it's a great board game space. It can get really busy during certain times, especially on weekend afternoons when it's almost impossible to snag a table.

I met here for coffee and some info on D & D play, terminology etc. what a great space. The house coffee was perfect, and the price was great. Plenty of space to move around and while they offer noshes, I didn't partake. They have many...MANY!! games to choose from and from what I can tell, are in alphabetical order. Very clean and organized space with adjoining gaming room and then further along a place to purchase games, gaming pieces, dice etc.

Never been to a board game cafe before! Was a chill vibe, it was packed with people playing games, enjoying food and drinks. Pretty straightforward place - order at the bar, find a game and a table and they'll text you to come grab your food when it's ready. The waffles were fun and tastey. Cool twist in the classic waffle. We discovered some new games and enjoyed our time here. Would definitely go back, great spot for big groups as well!

I truly adore this place! A haven for gamers, waffle-lovers, and anyone looking for a fun and different alternative to bar hopping with friends! The cocktails here are fire, the staff is always friendly and you can tell how well-loved it is in the community by how busy it always is! I've tried a few different savory waffles but the sweet ones are truly where it's at. The red velvet waffle special for February is perfection, with a great balance of flavors that aren't overly sweet or too rich. What is truly impressive is the massive selection of board games! They have something for everyone here - fast past word games, fun physical puzzle games, mysteries and RPGs and everything in between. You can't go wrong! They also feature local artwork and are attached to one of the most comprehensive game shops in OP, a place you can peruse for solid hours. Thanks for existing, Tabletop & Cardboard Corner Cafe!

I love this place. It is the place to be on a weeknight. I've gone several weeknights and been completely taken aback at how packed and lively it is. It is great to see so many people out and socializing in such a fun environment. Another huge plus for this place is that it is the only board game cafe I've ever been to that doesn't make you pay a game fee. I can't describe how much more that makes me want to go here - it just takes the pressure off the whole experience. Pick a bad game? No harm, just try a different one next time. Stuff is so expensive these days, it's awesome to just have an all inclusive board gaming experience. That's not to say I don't pay anything when I go here. I always order food and a drink because they have such a fabulous menu. The menu is centered around waffles of all types - both sweet and savory. One of my favorites is the Jalapeno Popper Waffle, made out of cornbread. They have a variety of beer and cocktails, coffee, sodas, candy.. it truly is a vast and diverse menu. I get excited to try new things. Additionally, this space is huge! There are ample tables of different sizes to accommodate your group and there is an adjoining room with mega tables for more serious gamer groups. And if you want to pick up a game to take home, the whole place is connected to a board game store! I also love that this place is open until 10 pm. Honestly that is refreshing in a post-Covid world when I feel like everytime I want to go somewhere, I find out they are closed. Cardboard Cafe also has a bunch of different events like game demos and open play, so if you're solo, you can play games with others, or try new games with new friends. Overall, this place just feels like a gamers heaven - unlimited gaming, plenty of drinks and snacks, lots of space, good vibes. I love it.

What a fun place! We had been to Pawn & Pint and enjoyed it but live on the KS side so I'm glad Overland Park has a place like this too. We went on a Wednesday night and it was pretty full, so it seems like it's often lively. It's totally free to go in and play any of their MANY games but there are games and items for purchase as well if you so choose. Their food menu is interestingly waffle focused but I unfortunately did not have during our visit. Decent beer selection and I appreciate that they have a few mocktails on their menu that they've put thought into. My wife and I had a blast playing the game Fitz for the first time. Can't wait to come back.

If you're looking for a new local board game bar then this is it! There is no cover fee and an entire wall of board games you can try out before you buy. Also a cool perk is they have a board game store attached where you can walk over to and buy board games, figurines, dice and all sorts of other goodies. Cardboard also offers food options that are pretty limited to waffles which leads to a bit of a stinky room at times. Totally worth it by the end of the night though. There are also tons of classes you can take throughout the year, I took a figurine painting class a few months back and had a blast! If you are looking to support your local game shops definitely stop by and check them out.

You had me at waffle centered menu. What a great find in Overland Park. They've got an entire wall of board games. We were here on a Friday afternoon and several tables were full of people playing something. And these savory waffles are amazing!

As a non-gamer, what excited me most about this place is that their kitchen is open fairly late most nights, so I thought it would be a good place to stop by for a late dessert, all of which sounded delish on their menu. (What this town REALLY needs is a great late-night dessert restaurant!) However, after at least a 20-minute wait for Chaffles & Tomato Bisque Soup to go, on what didn't seem like an incredibly busy afternoon, my enthusiasm dimmed. And it dimmed even more when I tasted my food. The Ch(eddarW)affles were really dry, devoid of any pleasant cheese flavor, and the soup/dipping sauce was very thin, nothing like any tomato bisque I've ever had before. But all the other food I saw people getting LOOKED really good, even mouth-watering! Despite the fact that the guy in charge (not the owner), manning the store that day, taking orders and barking out names, did absolutely nothing that made me feel at all welcome, I can see this being a terrific, comfortable, hospitable place for those who love board games, and even for families. But you don't have to play games to hang out, even though they DO have a about a billion free-to-use boxed games of every variety on two walls. And their extensive menu, based mostly on waffles of every sort, sweet to savory, and any concoction of toppings you could possibly imagine, had me all excited. I hope the offerings (unlike mine this time) taste as good as they sound, and as good as the ones I saw coming out of the kitchen looked. They also have some interesting and creative alcoholic beverage offerings, like a Flight of Mimosas (classic, passion fruit , cranberry orange, and piña colada) for $12. I will go back JUST for those, and to try a dessert waffle. I'm game, even if not a game player! However, IF they have CLUE on their Wall of Game, and IF I can find three other people old enough to fully appreciate that one, I might dive into the whole experience...after a Mimosa Flight...or two!

Such a fun place! Come with a friend or a group, and plan to hang out for at least a few hours. In my experience, once you come, you won't want to leave for a while. Cardboard Corner has table sizes for nearly all groups, but there's only one or two very large tables (6+) in the main area. There's an adjacent side of the cafe through a door where there are more large tables. If you want to make sure a table will be available or you want a room for an event, you can reserve one of the private rooms in the back. There are QR codes on each table that will link you to the menu and provide game recommendations for groups of varying sizes, so don't worry about coming and not knowing what to play! The staff are also super helpful with recommendations. As for the food, it's very fun (much of it is waffle-themed) and very accessible (many sweet, savory, and gluten-free options), but ultimately unimpressive. The buffalo chicken waffle had a dino nuggets quality to it, and there wasn't much crispness to the cornbread waffle that came with it. It was a similar story for the pulled pork waffle. I don't mind that so much though; it makes me feel like I'm back in college playing board games in the cafeteria. Come, have fun, and save the foodie review for another place.

I liked the unique menu, friendly service, and the extensive (800+) selection of free table top game play options at this new café. My wacho (nacho toppings on cornbread waffles) was served in ten minutes, reasonably priced at $8.99, and tasted great, with a good portion of nicely seasoned meat and tasty waffles, although salsa would have been a nice addition. The menu includes sweet waffles, savory waffles, custom waffles, shareables, coffees, teas, cocoas, cocktails, beers and wines.

We were able to do a walkthrough and trial run ahead of time, and they thoughtfully helped us design a layout that made perfect sense for our intimate 40-person reception. Their guidance made the entire space feel intentional, comfortable, and beautifully put together. The space itself is absolutely stunning--elevated, warm, and perfect for a smaller, more personal celebration. When we arrived after our ceremony, the room flip was seamless and everything was exactly as planned. But what truly set Verdigris apart was the service. The staff was phenomenal--attentive, professional, and genuinely invested in making our night special. Every detail was handled with care, and we were able to be fully present and enjoy the evening with our guests. We reserved the space for three hours, and it was 100% worth it. If you're considering hosting a private event--especially a wedding reception or intimate gathering--this is the place to do it. We would choose Verdigris again in a heartbeat. Highly, highly recommend.

It was a Sunday evening, and the bar had just two couples inside. We sat ourselves in one of the cozy corners with comfortable couches, seats, and circular tables. Their physical menu only had drinks, but there was a QR code that showed a more comprehensive menu, such as other alcoholic drinks, non-alcoholic drinks and small plates. We all ordered different drinks, and I got the Matronae's Blessing. My drink was tequila and vodka based with white tea shrub, lychee, soda, and lychee pâte de fruit, which is a traditional French jelly candy. Among all the drinks I tried, mine was the favorite of the night. The lychee really shined through, the soda was refreshing, and the pâte de fruit was the best surprise - chewy, sweet, and bursting with lychee flavor. Sadly, I don't have a photo of the drink, but I will be back to order this again! Aside from the great drinks, the bar itself is beautiful. The three arches behind the main bar holding the liquor are brightly lit around the edges to have a glowing effect, the bar table has light underneath that accentuate the dark green/blue color, and the rest of the bar is dimly lit to let the details really shine. You bet we did a mini photoshoot once all the other patrons left. The servers were not only great at making drinks, but they were kind enough to take some group photos for us! The girls and I had a wonderful evening, and it was the perfect way to end the night.
