Some more seating in the front order counter

I've been to this coffee shop several times. But we were down the street at a park and decided to stop in on a weekday. The young woman that was working was very nice. They have good coffee there. I believe they may make their syrups. They do not have any sugar-free syrups. I used to love their brown sugar latte, but they did not have that syrup this time so I just got vanilla and it was good. This is a quiet coffee shop that is good for reading or working on a laptop. Their prices are in the range of most coffee shops. They have a variety of seating from seating against the wall with a table in front and chairs on the opposite side. They have quite a few high tops with stools, but no backs on them. Then there are a few high tops that do have backs. They also have a large couch, which is what we sat at. They have an outdoor couch by the front door that people can use. I'm not sure if they share the patio seating with Jason's deli next-door. The only suggestion I have is that the floor needs to be swept more often because each time I've been in there's quite a few crumbs. Also, the couch probably needed to be vacuumed and the cushion straightened.

This place is super cute while also looking very trendy. They have a good amount of standard coffee items as well as some specialty lattes. I went with a seasonal latte that I was surprised didn't end up too sweet. I wanted to try one of their breakfast burritos, but sadly they were out.

First off, super welcoming coffee barista! She was making freshly brewed Chai which smelled so delicious I had to have one! Ambiance is spacious, modern, cool cozy coffee shop. They seem to take great pride in providing the very best. Small selection of pastries as well. Lots of easy parking and located right next to the Johnson county library. And guess what their prices are pretty coffee shop normal but they don't upcharge for oat milk! Nice change of pace! Lovely coffee shop!

Cherry popover and bourbon vanilla caramel iced latte.

My son and I was in the area looking for coffee soo we popped into bear Necessities. Initially I was going with a caramel iced latte but my son asked what the barista recommended for his drink. She mentioned a lot of folks add bourbon vanilla to a caramel latte. It was sooo good!! Very laid back atmosphere inside! We will for sure be back and highly recommend!!

Stopped into Bear Necessities coffee this morning since I was in the area. The coffee (I ordered an iced vanilla latte) was incredible! One of the best lattes I've had in KC. I also ordered a classic croissant. It was ok. The indoor area is meeting-friendly and work-friendly. Lots of individuals appeared to be meeting with others or working. There's also a spacious outdoor patio that seems like the perfect space for when the temperature is nice outside. There's also a super cute bear mural along the back wall.

Bear Necessities Is A Sweet Shop! Upon Walking In The Vibes Were Immaculate! It's Dimly Lit And Gives A Cozy Vibe. People Were Working On Their Laptops And Looked Very Chill. I Loved It! Once I Made It To The Front I Was Promptly Greeted. I Ordered A Lavender Lattee And Chatted With The Barista About Metal Bands In Lawrence! It Definitely Felt Like Home In Bear Necessities! And The Lattee Was Delicious!

I love this coffee shop. Stopped in for the first time and was happy to see all the house made syrups and unique seasonal drinks. I got a honey cappuccino and it was perfect. The prices are very reasonable and the staff is very nice. I will be returning!

I stopped in on a Wednesday morning for a meeting with a coworker and was pretty impressed with this little JOCO coffee shop. It's minimalist inside, with ample seating and a good wifi connection. The barista working was friendly, and my drink was made to my liking. Overall, I'd likely return here if I'm in the area and need a quiet place to work for a while.

A few house made syrup options, but no sugar free. I love that oat milk doesn't have an up charge. While an americano isn't on the menu, and the menu is very limited, barista was able to make me one. Lots of seating for work, and clean bathrooms too. I ended up spending 2 hours on some work, and sipped on my coffee.

I had a great experience at Bear Necessities Coffee! The flavors were absolutely amazing--especially the iced matcha and the iced latte with their homemade toasted vanilla syrup. The matcha was easily one of best I've ever had, rich and smooth with the perfect balance of sweetness. If I had one small suggestion, it would be to offer larger cup size simply because it was so good and just wasn't enough.

First time visiting - love the forest-themed vibes. Pros: - house made syrups - oat milk isn't an up charge! - some gluten friendly pastry selections available - friendly service - Affordable latte prices - only $5 for a 12 oz oatmilk latte with housemade syrup - Siracha available for breakfast burritos! Cons: - only 2 couch/comfy seating areas, rest of seating is metal chairs & mostly high top tables that aren't the most comfortable - pastries are a little pricy Suggestion to add huckleberry syrup to the menu! They sell huckeberry roaster coffee - it would be awesome to have the forest/NW berry flavor here in Kansas!

I decided to check out a new coffee shop in the area. I liked it! The staff working was really welcoming and nice and the drink was reasonably priced! I paid 6$ total for my 16oz iced rosemary vanilla latte. The ambience was kind of dark inside (dark paint, black furniture, lack of natural lighting) which was something that I didn't like too much but that's just my preference! Overall, I would recommend.

Coffee worth parking for. Good vibes great roast! I miss the drive through coffee of Washington but this hits the right notes.

The space is smallish but they do have bar seating in addition to seating throughout. The service was friendly and the drinks were great. They don't offer food, but they do offer cocktails, beer, wine, and mocktails. I went on a Sunday and they have a special menu called "Almost Monday." It's a smaller, simpler cocktail menu and the prices are very fair compared to other cocktail spots. I tried the Caipirinha (pineapple) and the Negroni sour. Both were good. My favorite between the two was the Negroni. It had a pretty color and wasn't too sour or strong. I'd def recommend it and get it again. Definitely stop in and check out this cute spot in Shawnee.

When you arrive there is parallel parking available outside the bar. When you walk in you'll feel like your bright, vibrant, and feels incredibly welcoming. Also, they have some really fun drinks as well that have been thoughtfully put together. We ended up sitting at the bar and I started with the Reformed Porn Star (vanilla vodka, bronson's tropical milk punch, passion fruit, Prosecco, citric acid and popping boba) which was by far my favorite drink and felt like I could have drank a couple more of these. Second I tried the Neo Cosmo (white rum, strawberry, cacao, coconut, rose hip, lime, bubble) which was good and was a fun drink with an ice cream shaped cup and a bubble on the top (meant to look like an ice cream cone). If you are in the area, this bar is a must try, the bartenders were awesome and took good care of us. Between the creative cocktails, fun atmosphere, unique floral setting, this was a memorable experience I'd definitely return for.

It's a good spot if you're looking to take a date or just grab some craft cocktails with friends. There was a good mix of folks throughout when we arrived. One random note is their bathroom doors stick a bit in the door frame and they're quite heavy so give it a solid push if you're initially thinking someone is in there. Drinks - 4* They have a good selection and variety of choices. From heavy and booze forward to light and refreshing so whatever your palette tends to favor there is something for you. I found the Mangifera to be pretty disappointing and my colleague thought it was outright disgusting. However the S'mores @ work and Hannibal Bridge both made up for that. The Green Lion was extremely tempting but neither of us felt $45 for a cocktail was worth the price. Service - 4.5* We found the bartender to be quick and attentive though we found his recommendations to be subpar. Ultimately of the 5 drinks we have the two he recommended were both very disappointing to us. Cost - 3.5* The pricing is a bit par for the course for what one would expect in today's environment however I have been to places that do more in house bitters, tinctures, syrups, infusions, etc. whereas there isn't as many here yet the pricing would indicate otherwise. Overall - 4* This is a great place to visit if you're in the area and not looking to make a trek further in for a great vibe and craft cocktails. Ultimately, we both agreed we'd comeback to try a few more drinks. One aspect that was nice is we never felt pushed or pressed to order more as we were there for quite sometime.

They offer bourbon (of course!), cocktails, beer, wine, and have a small kitchen menu. The cocktail menu does rotate seasonally! If you're a bourbon lover (or looking to try something new) this is definitely the spot to visit. The bar boasts over 130+ options of bourbons and whiskies, including several local selections and some allocated options. Prices are a little high, but it should be taken into consideration that all pours are 2 ounces, rather than the typical 1. Our first visit we had an old fashioned (not on menu, but able to select what whiskey/bourbon you want) and a few snacks - a charcuterie board and fries. The board had a good variety of meats and cheese and we loved the garlic aioli with the fries. My husband opted to taste a few bourbons (unfortunately I don't remember which!). Our second visit we just grabbed some drinks. I had the Marg My Words, and it was as gorgeous as it was delicious! It had Solerno blood orange liqueur (a staple in our home bar) and a red wine float - it was tart and sweet and perfectly balanced. My husband had their featured cocktail, a maple black walnut old fashioned. He said it was balanced and that the maple was on the subtle side (making it not overly sweet). There's a variety of seating options from tables for larger groups, booths, smaller tables, and more private couches/chairs, making it an option for more intimate dates or grabbing a drink with a few friends. Service does vary from time to time. Bartenders will come check in at your table, but you can also go up to the bar to place and order. It was busy our second visit, so staff didn't check in as much, but that said, we were there for a date and appreciated not being interrupted as much. Zephyr does have live music from time to time! The music was loud enough to enjoy without being too loud to where I couldn't have a conversation with a friend.

It was adorable and the drinks were divine. Around Christmas they do a popup bar and in 2025 it was themed around a ski lodge. We tried to versions of the old fashioned on the menu and though we did like one over the other both were well balanced cocktails. After we ordered our libations the bartender suggested we head upstairs where it was less crowded and it was so cozy we felt like we were in someone's living room. Another couple joined us and we ended up having such a lovely conversation with them, chatting all about our favorite hot spots in Kansas City (gotta love KC pride). Just a note this is a slightly hidden speakeasy inside a pizza place, you need to have a password but it's easily found on their social media pages- just check Instagram. On our way out we decided to get a slice of pie (pizza pie that is) to balance out all that whiskey we washed down. I tried the Running of the Bullshit: blanco tequila, pineapple, lime, and smoked honey. It was good. The smoked honey was a tad overpowering but overall not bad. I'd probably opt for a different cocktail next time. I had a sip of the watermelon moonshine: blanco tequila, watermelon, grenadine, lemon, luxando, plum bitters, and topo Chico. It was watermelon!
