I happened upon this little cocktail bar by complete accident. I was at another business and walked by so I had to check it out. It was a nice night so I opted to sit outside. They have a cute little patio area that is somewhat enclosed so there is some privacy from people walking by. They have some nice shrubbery and light at night so the ambiance is lovely. The service was great. Everyone was nice and professional. I had the Le Petite Goat: Hennessy, lime, blackberry liqueur, and a goat cheese ball. It was so good. I wish it was bigger because I could drink a few of these. It was bright and tangy and everything just went so well together. They have several other tasty looking cocktails but they also have mocktails and light bar snacks. Definitely check them out if you're in the Mission area. read more

If you like Wild Child, but it's a bit too crowded for you then The Primrose is your spot. It's just a more comfortable experience! If you're solo, sit at the bar and chat with the crew. If you're in a group there are plenty of couches to take over. I felt like the drinks were fairly priced and the staff were happy to make recommendations. They also have a pretty impressive bar, so if you just want a standard cocktail like a martini or old fashion then you have that option. Mocktail recommendation: Blushing Bride! My friends and I met up for a happy hour on a week night and had no problem getting a seat and a round of drinks. The service was good. Staff was helpful. And the seating was clean (new), classy and comfortable. Definetly a cozy place - great spot to hang out all year round. In a city with a growing list of cocktail bars, the pressure and competition is on. I would love if the Primrose would hone in on their identity. For example, the music selection felt a little random (throwback hits?) and a little out of place. Not sure if that's just because it was a quieter weeknight. But with the price of the cocktails and overall aesthetic of the interior, I expected either top hits (trendy) or something that fit the personality of the bar a bit more. Setting the mood. Additionally, I was surprised the menu didn't list the spirit brands. With most of their signature cocktails priced at $14+, guests like to know the spirit brand. Come to find out, most of their spirits are local! Which, to me, makes the cocktails more worth the price and make me more inclined to order another! We stopped in on a whim today when the staff put the outdoor sign out and we are so glad we did! This is a pretty boutique cocktail bar and our cocktails (Dragon's House) were excellent. They have unique cocktail menu that we look forward to returning and trying out more concoctions! Our waitress was friendly and attentive and it was clean with attractive decor. What a cute and fun hidden gem (at least to me) for a girl's night! A friend had recommended this place and we were glad we went! The service and the drinks were equally fantastic! It was the most perfect patio weather day and we sat outside, but there was quite a bit of seating inside, too. Each drink is around $15. They don't take reservations so we arrived early enough to be seated quickly. We were seated at a lovely marble-top 2-seater with comfortable seats (always a plus) and given still water. They have a QR code to access their menu which starts with their seasonal offerings accompanied with a cute drawn picture. I got the Persephone while my friend got the Crime of Passion. I work within walking distance of Primrose and it was really a shock to everyone that it took me months to get in there. Without having visited, I've been very excited that Mission is continuing to build on itself and expand the different variety of establishments around the area. I knew I'd like Primrose, it was just a matter of getting in there. We visited on a Friday night and I was surprised at how easy it was to get a seat. I had expected that it would be a little more exclusive, but I can't complain that we got in quickly! The staff was nice and the ambiance was nice and dim. I wouldn't call it a speakeasy, but the decorations and seating definitely leant themselves to that vibe. I got the About Damn Thyme and it was refreshing! I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it hit the spot! I also loved that they had different spice levels for the spicy marg. I'll probably get that the next time I go in. So happy to see this open in Mission. And right next-door to the brewery so it's a great spot to hit before or after. Finally was able to pop in here one night for a drink. Popped in on a Wednesday evening. It was busy. It's super cute on the inside. They don't take reservations and we were told it would be about a 30 minute wait. So we went to the bar to order a drink while we were waiting and was told that you have to be seated to order a drink. There were no seats available. That rule makes no sense. We spoke to the manager and she said "you can only order drinks if you are seated." Huh??? That makes no sense. Needless to say we left. I probably won't go back. Poor service. read more

This place continues to be my ABSOLUTE favorite cocktail bar in KC! I bring all of my friends and family whenever I get the chance to. We have been so many time the last few months the bartenders are remembering us hahaha. All their cocktails are ideas from their own personal staff, so feel free to ask about them because they love to explain why and how each individual cocktail is concocted. There isn't a ton of seating options but they have expanded out front with a cute lit patio area. I had been recommended the primrose by multiple friends in the area. The cocktail bar does not take reservations and is on a first come first serve basis which made it tough to walk in around 8:30 pm on a Saturday and get immediately seated. When I was seated, I wasn't greeted and didn't see a waitress for an additional 20 min. When I finally saw the wait staff, I asked for suggestions on drinks but felt rushed. I tried two of their cocktails and was not impressed by the flavor notes for the price. I couldn't necessarily grasp the ambience of the bar as 2000's hip hop was Playing but it was also trying to be an upscale bar with candles lit on each table. read more

The door was open, music was playing, and it just beckoned to us. We were pleasantly surprised to find this stylish cocktail bar in the heart of Johnson County. Clearly, the people of Johnson County were hungry for something like this - every seat was filled and there was a short wait. The Primrose has seating along the window that is perfect for people waiting for a table - and they'll serve you there. While I wanted a mocktail, they were missing ingredients for 2 of the 3 mocktails on the menu, but they offered an alternative - an almond lemonade, that was very tasty. Service was fantastic. Our waitress was kind and attentive, and the bartenders were flashy and skilled. There were all sorts of smells and noises to take in - they were smoking rosemary, setting things on fire, etc., all in a very cozy, intimate environment.
