    Senior cheeseburger, hash browns

Service was excellent, 3rd time at this location in past few weeks. Tried the senior cheeseburger since I liked the previous senior breakfasts so much. Sadly, the bun was dissolved from grease. Won't order it again. Not very busy. Sat at the counter & got to see cleaning which was very noisy.

5 employees at 11:30pm! I have never seen a well staffed waffle house and I am in love. Our food came out super fast, was exactly what we ordered and the staff was friendly. The place could have been cleaner, but I knew where i was going.

The food was "ok" for the price. The wheat toast was toasted. The over-easy eggs cooked to perfection. The bacon was paper thin and cold. The waffle was one of the worst waffles I've ever had. You can find better waffles at any other breakfast place. Decent coffee so that was a plus. The service started out shaky but improved. The staff was friendly and seemed to enjoy their customers. The restaurant however was FILTHY! The floors looked like they hadn't been swept or mopped in several days. The salt and pepper shakers were gross and sticky. NEVER again!

Got everything I ordered and wasn't disappointed.

The staff was obviously new and training, but that didn't stop them from getting us all we ordered and making sure it was to our liking. I won't get the "blueberry Nougat" in the waffle again, but that is just me, the wife liked it. I have gone to waffle houses a lot over my life and when getting the hashbrowns "all the way" I got all the add-ins but this time it came with chili AND GRAVY!?!? what a wild ride. Won't do it again but was worth a one-time try as are most things. They had half of the restaurant cordoned off because of capacity due to worker shortage. But we got a spot to sit and eat pretty fast and got our food in a timely manner.

On a recent trip to Nebraska, we stopped at a WH along the route the six-year-old ordered coffee the waitress frowned. I said, please bring her a cup of coffee waitress, mumbles she'll need to make a fresh pot. OMG it was a great tasting coffee best we ever had.

You know, a lot of people shit on Waffle House. Yeah, they were designed for what you do after a long night at a strip club, and it's becoming more common to be in an altercation with a firearm while eating a waffle here than anywhere else with waffles; but damn it, if they're doing it right, and the place is clean, then I will have my waffles! All seriousness aside, they make a fine breakfast if you're in a hurry, and require a stool at a bar like you're a traveling salesman looking for a warm meal between selling encyclopedias and missing your children grow up - and the year is 1957. Try Waffle House - but only if they're not busy, and the store looks brand new. I don't know that I'd visit this one though. It's on 75th street. For reference, half of the Shawnee Police Department is required to be on duty on this little strip of road every day or night, so there's that. Rough Road. Great waffles.

First of all when we walked in we just sat ourselves because nobody cared. Then when we sat down it took about a good 10 minutes to order our food and drinks. The food came out pretty quick. I'd say about 5 or so minutes. The waffles were delicious. The bacon was a little too salty. The place itself was ok. I mean it was just like a normal diner type place. The setup wasn't the best though. 6.75/10

Everything flows. It's organized chaos done right. The seasonal drinks are consistently creative and actually good. Not just pretty for Instagram. Balanced, thoughtful, and well executed. And the bakery? Dangerous. The display case is pure temptation. Cinnamon rolls, pecan twists, danishes, cookies, scones. Everything looks like the right choice, which makes choosing impossible. They also have solid brunch plates and sandwiches if you're trying to pretend you're here for something other than sugar and caffeine. Now for the one miss. I ordered the pepper jack breakfast burrito, and unfortunately, it didn't live up to the rest of the experience. Flat flavors, mushy texture, no real identity. The hot sauce was doing most of the work. It felt out of place in a spot that clearly cares about quality. Thankfully, the bakery and coffee saved the day. The pecan twist was flaky, buttery, and just sweet enough. The seasonal latte with cold foam was smooth, balanced, and dialed in. Overall, McLain's is a Kansas City staple for a reason. Efficient, welcoming, and consistently good at what they do. One menu tweak away from being near-perfect. Solid 4-star spot. Would happily come back.

It's a lovely restaurant. It seems a bit out of the way with mostly corporate buildings around. The restaurant has a nice modern aesthetic. I like the purple hyacinths hanging from the ceiling in one area. It was very steady for an off time in the afternoon. First, our server Olivia was amazing! Very attentive and we were extra needy this day so I really appreciate her patience. We even dropped food on the floor. Oops! She was so nice about it and cleaned it up immediately. We had customizations and extra requests. No problem for her! She went above and beyond. I hope she sees this because she was such a joy! The food was also very good. We started with the biscuits and one peach compote and one blueberry. Both were yummy. They were traditional drop biscuits and I love a good biscuit! We also had an order of fried green tomatoes on goat cheese grits. You get 4 very large slices. I could only eat one. The grits were yummy but there were not enough of them in relation to the friend green tomatoes. They were also encased by a sauce. I'm guessing a remoulade. I don't really care for remoulade sauce so I'd have removed it had I known it came with the dish. It really overpowered the goat cheese taste in the grits. The tomatoes were very al dente and I would have preferred them cooked a bit more. The dish was still good but my least favorite and I would normally love anything with those ingredients and fried green tomatoes are a favorite so the remoulade (or whatever it was) sauce was a real problem for me. I would definitely get them again without the sauce because they are great otherwise. But that sauce just overpowers every other flavor! I got the chicken tender dinner and others in my party got the bone in fried chicken. Everyone liked their chicken. The tenders were a big size. 4 of them but I hit 2 meals out of them. Everyone liked the Parmesan rosemary potatoes. I really liked the bacon green beans. The only side we weren't impressed with was the Mac and cheese unfortunately. The cheese was not good. We got coffees and a chai. All of them were very good. A bit pricey for the amount you get though. Even with the smaller complaints, I'd still give th a 5 because of the outstanding service and the dishes were overall very good and large portions. We will definitely return and I hope to try out a breakfast item next visit!

It also came with two eggs and a choice of side; I went with the fresh fruit, which was a great complement. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The only drawback was the limited staff. Our waiter was fantastic, but he was clearly stretched thin--handling seating, bar duties, takeout orders, and multiple tables all at once. It was a bit much for one person and did lead to longer wait times across the board. Hopefully, this was just a one-off situation, because the food and service quality were definitely there. The dish came with two over-medium eggs on a tostada shell, topped with birria beef and onion, plus a side of refried beans and two warm tortillas. The beans were actually seasoned and flavorful (a nice surprise since refried beans are often bland elsewhere). Red and green salsa cups were available at the condiment station, and both paired nicely with the meal. It was a fairly light breakfast overall, though next time I may add a pancake for balance. My mom ordered the standard two scrambled eggs with hash browns and toast. Simple and done well. We both had coffee -- she liked hers, but I found mine a bit weak (probably should've gone lighter on the cream). The space has limited seating, but the décor adds real character -- lush hanging plants and colorful Mexican-inspired artwork give it a bright cultural touch. It creates a cozy, homey atmosphere that feels both casual and welcoming. The cashier was friendly and helpful with recommendations. Prices are definitely on the higher side, which is what kept this at 3 stars instead of 4. They also offer a senior discount and another posted discount that I noticed, but I missed the details. If I were rating just my huevos rancheros, this would've been a solid 4 stars -- flavorful, well-seasoned, and a great recommendation. But my mom's order was pretty basic (though that's what she wanted), and I don't think her senior discount was applied. Combined with higher prices, this felt like a 3.5 overall, which I rounded down to 3. Overall, a solid spot for both classic American breakfasts and Mexican favorites. I'll definitely return to try the chilaquiles or Texas Benny.
