I finally tried Big Biscuit and I'm a bit underwhelmed. I will return but I'll definitely try some other items. I hadn't been in this building since it was Don Chiledos and it looks nice. There's lots of seating and the building is quite large. You can even reserve a room if you're having a gathering. Everyone we encountered was friendly and very nice. However, others have called out the slowness and initial lack of service and I can attest that it's definitely an issue. We waited a decent time, 10-15 minutes, from when we were seated until we were greeted by anyone. And they weren't very busy. I'm not sure if they are short staffed but I feel like that's probably the case. I would advise to order online and just get it to go if you don't want to have to wait. I tried the coffee. I order it black, nothing fancy. And it was fine. I won't be paying $4 in the future for plain, black coffee but at least it was bottomless. I went with the Mayberry: 3 egg omelette with sausage and cheddar, a biscuit with sausage gravy, and hash browns. The omelette was good. It was pretty large and had a good amount of sausage and cheese. I really liked the hash browns. They were crispy and I'd definitely opt for them again. Both the omelette and hash browns were pretty greasy. I really liked the biscuit. It was fluffy and buttery. The sausage gravy exceeded my expectations and I thought it tasted pretty good, no salt or pepper needed. I did also try a bite of the yardbird which is their chicken biscuit sandwich. I thought that the chicken was juicy but the breading really soaked up the grease and that was all I could taste. I would return but I would order something different, like the pancakes or waffles. I would recommend the biscuits and gravy based on this visit.

This is a great spot that just opened in the mission area and wow they did a great job with renovating! The service was fast and the food was even faster! I would totally be coming back for a great breakfast/brunch. Especially since the patio on the left side is very inviting once the weather starts to get better.

Always a favorite for this family. Love the cinnamon roll pancakes. Great breakfast and lunch options. Quick and friendly service. Can't wait for our next breakfast at our favorite spot.

Stopped here for breakfast before hitting up IKEA .. super delicious! Friendly staff & clean restaurant. Would definitely come here again! Honestly some of the best buttery hash browns.

They customized my order to satisfy my dietary needs. The atmosphere is clean and casual. It is an upscale breakfast joint. The menu has many options to choose from. Overall a great experience.

The City Diner is outstanding! They definitely have their locals and regular customers, but we're also welcoming to us as first timers. Our waitress was jovial and courteous, and answered all of our silly questions. My wife had a half order of biscuits and gravy. I had a double cheeseburger, which was enormous. Those patties are no joke. I would get a single next time. Thankfully, it did not come with fries or tots as that would've been entirely too much food. I could hardly finish it, and I was ravenous. We want to come back and try other things here. It will not take a long time before we return. My wife loved her biscuits and gravy, and she is from the south. The biscuits were pillowy, soft and flaky. We have found our divvy diner that we love. The City Diner opened in 1937. One taste of their food and you'll know why they've been around almost 90 years.

The sandwich came on this thick toast that was super crunchy, in a good way. The inside had Fluffy scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, and some aioli that tied everything together without being too much. It wasn't greasy, just rich and satisfying. I had fresh fruit on the side, which I appreciated after that salty-savory hit from the sandwich. What surprised me was how filling it was. I wasn't hungry again for hours, but I didn't feel gross after eating it. The coffee was bottomless and good. The vibe inside was chill, cozy, kind of like hanging out in someone's artsy kitchen. The staff was friendly! I loved all the fresh flowers and artwork adorning the tables and bulletin board. It added a nice touch to the eclectic vibe.

I am still genuinely befuddled at this Friday night dinner experience…read more I came in for a celebratory Hurricane since I'd heard these were great (and we loved their cocktails the last time) and a bite. The place was pretty empty which was unusual; the last time we came in I think was in December and it was slammed! It turns out they aren't serving alcohol right now (apparently an ownership change? I didn't get the full scoop) so that was the first let-down. So fine - I'll just have a bowl of the gumbo. For $29?! And some biscuits. The gumbo comes out in a cracked bowl with a cracked plate underneath and the 3 little crawfish on top are refrigerator cold. Granted, the actual gumbo was pretty solid with the right amount of heft and spice and depth, but even then the rice had some hard pieces in it like it was old. The biscuits aren't anything to write home about and the butter is just meh. I wouldn't spend my carbs there. On top of all that, the waitress literally couldn't be bothered that I existed. I had to pry to get a drink menu (which is when I found out they weren't serving any), I couldn't get any eye contact from her or any kind of friendliness, she asked me if I wanted them to "heat it up" when I told her about the crawfish, and then brought my bill when I hadn't even finished dinner without bothering to ask if I wanted any dessert. And on top of that, there was no mention at all about the dinner issues or any apology whatsoever. I don't need or want a meal comped but for over $40 for a bowl of gumbo and some biscuits (+ tax, tip, etc) I at least expect some acknowledgement or "hey, here's something nice we can do for you". We really enjoyed the last time we were here and this was a genuinely jarring experience compared to that. The place looks pretty rough right now - maybe this is one of those places that has the right vibe in the dark, but nothing felt right about it today, and I'm afraid I can't (won't) recommend it again.

Everyone was friendly, welcoming, and our food came out quickly. I ordered a turkey club while my dad got one as well, and unfortunately we both had the same issue. The turkey was on the dry side, and it was sliced much thicker than I personally prefer. I tend to like a thinner deli-style sliced turkey, so it just wasn't my favorite sandwich. My mom ordered one of the salads though, and honestly it looked better than my sandwich. It was loaded with fresh toppings, and she said the ranch was excellent. If I come back, I'd probably skip the sandwich altogether and give one of the salads a try. Overall, I can definitely appreciate what they're going for. The prices are fantastic, honestly unheard of in present day, and that's the main reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 3. At any rate I had to get the tenderloin as it's the most hyped thing on their menu, and it lives up to the legend as for around 11 dollars it will feed you and your family of four for days. It's that big. I did take mine home because it was so hot I just couldn't eat outside, and it was too big for a car lunch. I ended up weighing it and it was a bit over 1lb. Damn, that's value. The french fries were kind of mid to me, but I liked the onion rings. I think next time I'm going to go for a milkshake.
