I finally tried Big Biscuit and I'm a bit underwhelmed. I will return but I'll definitely try some other items. I hadn't been in this building since it was Don Chiledos and it looks nice. There's lots of seating and the building is quite large. You can even reserve a room if you're having a gathering. Everyone we encountered was friendly and very nice. However, others have called out the slowness and initial lack of service and I can attest that it's definitely an issue. We waited a decent time, 10-15 minutes, from when we were seated until we were greeted by anyone. And they weren't very busy. I'm not sure if they are short staffed but I feel like that's probably the case. I would advise to order online and just get it to go if you don't want to have to wait. I tried the coffee. I order it black, nothing fancy. And it was fine. I won't be paying $4 in the future for plain, black coffee but at least it was bottomless. I went with the Mayberry: 3 egg omelette with sausage and cheddar, a biscuit with sausage gravy, and hash browns. The omelette was good. It was pretty large and had a good amount of sausage and cheese. I really liked the hash browns. They were crispy and I'd definitely opt for them again. Both the omelette and hash browns were pretty greasy. I really liked the biscuit. It was fluffy and buttery. The sausage gravy exceeded my expectations and I thought it tasted pretty good, no salt or pepper needed. I did also try a bite of the yardbird which is their chicken biscuit sandwich. I thought that the chicken was juicy but the breading really soaked up the grease and that was all I could taste. I would return but I would order something different, like the pancakes or waffles. 11.99 "Birthday Pancake" turned into $17.00 pancake. Apparently what they don't tell you is that they add two dollars to turn it into birthday flavoring on the birthday pancake and the lady said that they will sell out the potatoes for fruit in reality. They want a charging $2.99.for the fruit substitution which they actually did take off my bill and didn't charge me for that. Just beware major up charges and FYI the birthday pancake is as big as your plate there's two of them and it should be shared by a minimum of four people. Maybe that's why they charge 17 bucks for it. On the positive side, waitress was nice. read more

This is a great spot that just opened in the mission area and wow they did a great job with renovating! The service was fast and the food was even faster! Waited an abnormally long time for a restaurant that is 1/2 empty. Got put on a waitlist claiming to be 1-10 mins. Was at the top of the list for about 45 minutes and noticed a bunch of workers standing around doing nothing. Asked multiple times on updates as group after group got seated. Bartender did end up asking if we had been helped but after another 15-20 mins, we decided to leave. They were very eager to take our name off the list, however, as we hadn't even stepped in the parking lot before I got the noti that we were off the waitlist. The restaurant wasn't busy yesterday morning, so I was seated quickly, The server seemed friendly and took my order. Food was served fairly quickly, but my waitress said she would bring me my silverware, it was pretty close to 10 minutes before she bought my utensils. She apologized, by this time my food was cold and not edible. A long time transpired before the check back for me to tell her it was cold and I couldn't eat it. Offer to re make was made, but by now I didn't have time. She said well you don't have to pay for anything. Very poor service, don't know if the food was good, I didn't get to eat. First off, let me say that the service and staff were excellent. That's the ONLY reason they get a third star. The restaurant was very tastefully designed and they did a great job transforming that building into an inviting space. Now for the not so good. The selection and food was disappointing. When we saw Big Biscuit we ignorantly expected there to be delicious big biscuit sandwiches on the menu... like District Biskuit. There are not. So in light of that revelation, we decided to get the biscuits and gravy. I got the half and my friend got the quarter size. I also got an order of sausage patties. The gravy was tasteless. I had to add about a half tablespoon spoon of pepper to taste anything. Half of the biscuit was light and fluffy and delicious, but the other half (the bottom half, that my friend got as his biscuit quarter) was a hard uncuttable puck. I had planned on cutting up the sausage and making the gravy chunkier... which is something I usually do, but the sausage was a HUGE disappointment. No spice, no flavor. Tasted like cheap generic ground pork. Huge let down. I will give this place one more chance knowing the biscuits and gravy and sausage are all a "no go". Would give negative stars if I could. 1. Do not like their new check-in to get in the wait list. Shows a lack of customer service. (This seems to be a corporate thing at other locations). 2. After we arrived and checked in, the manager started randomly seating groups that came and checked in after us causing the employee at the front desk to even become flustered). 3. After being seated we waited 15 minutes at the table with no service before walking out. The server came in our section a few times but never acknowledged us. 4. Left and told the manager a wait of 15 minutes with no service is unacceptable and I will not be returning. He barely apologized. 5. I love Big Buscuit. Today it was rainy and cool. The AC was running, and my wife and I were shivering. I spoke with the manager, who was very nice and did everything he could to help us. Nevertheless, nothing changed. My wife was too cold to eat and left. Again, the manager took care of the bill. This is a common issue at restaurants when weather suddenly cools. The problem is, this was like this at our first visit. My wife refuses to return but I will alone. The food is good. The waitresses were great. For those not bothered by cold blowing air, then do go there. Why restaurants can't fix this is beyond me. It's a fine place to eat read more

Went there for first time. It wasn't busy. Maybe 3 tables with diners with food already. After standing in wait area for several minutes, the guy behind the bar asked me if I was pucking up an order or dining in. After saying dining in, he said the hostess would take care of me and went back to ignoring me as the hostess came back and seated the couple who came in before me, leaving me standing around for another five minutes. Finally, the manager showed up and sat me. A few minutes later, the hostess gave me a menu and took my drink order. I needed a few minutes yet so she left. I decided and put my menu down. In the five more minutes I waited, both the manager and hostess walked by me, ignoring me. I decided to leave and walk to the nearby Panera and give them my business instead. Pleasant surroundings, very clean, very fast service. But the best part about this location is your server, April. Not only is she a delight, if you have any food allergies or other needs she will take care of you. You can depend on her making sure there is no cross contamination or other problems with your food.
