I'm sorry. But this place is horrible!! I called to book a appointment and was given the false information on their pricing. I was told they charge $45 for hard gel and was charge $75 in person. The lady who did my nails took forever! And did not know how to shape them correctly.

After coming here for almost 2 years it was time to write a review. Romantic Nails always does an amazing job. I get a TAP fill every 4ish weeks and a pedicure every 8 weeks. I've never had any issues. Cabo is my typical go-to for the TAP and she does a phenomenal and thorough job. They all take their time and don't rush the process. They did my nails for my wedding - so you know they're good! The salon itself typically had a show/tv on so it keeps you entertained if not by some of the fun conversation happening from everyone. It is clean and a great place to come!

I was so impressed when I came to Romantic nails. This is the best nail shop, clean and everyone is very friendly! My nails always look amazing and last 4-6weeks with theTAP process! I highly recommend it! I read a few comments on here that are so far from my experienceI have never seen happen or have ever heard ! They would never ever be mad if a tip wasn't left - that's ridiculous. Tips mean = To insure proper service - I have always felt welcome with amazing service! I went in yesterday to get a gel manicure. Becky did my manicure. She was very nice! I chose a wine red polish and I was so happy with my manicure!! The salon is super clean and close to my house. I made an appt for 4 pm and was seen right on time. The manicure included an amazing hand massage and I was all around happy with my beautiful nails! Thank you Becky for a job well done!

During the pandemic shut down the owner expanded and updated the interior. So many services available now that I was missing this past year. It's a great feeling to be back at the best nail salon in Monrovia. If you have ventured out for your post shut down mani/pedi and waxing- make an appointment now. You won't be disappointed.

I came here in 2019 initially in hopes of finding a nail salon that is gentle, detail oriented, and WAY BETTER than all the other salons in the area. I had recently gone to a salon walking distance from Romantic Nails in late 2018 right before Christmas and they had ruined my nails, cut my skin making me bleed, and blaming me saying my skin was too thin and thats why I bled. Fast forward to 2019 when I walked into Romantic Nails-- thinking I was going to be getting acrylics. I met with a woman named Tina and she let me know that they do not recommend acrylics due to the damage they do to nails. She listened to what I wanted and how I was getting prepared for my upcoming wedding. She laid out a plan for me to grow my nails out, protect them, keep them strong for the next few months leading up to my wedding in October. She first did my nails before my bridal shower-- adding a tip for length since I cut my nails down thinking I was getting acrylics. She did a simple dipped French Tip, which felt so light and as if it was just my natural nail! She also took her time, was detailed with each nail, and made sure to be careful around my cuticles! Now that my nails grew out and we were less than a week out from my wedding, thats when we took off my French tip to give me fresh nails. She came up with the ideas for my wedding nails and told me that the Ombre French tip look will be soft and beautiful. It will also photograph very nicely. I trusted her, and watched her go to work. They came out WAY better than ever expected and got so many compliments! see both photos from my bridal shower and my wedding day. Thanks you Romantic Nails and Tina for all of your help finding the RIGHT salon for me!! Recommend booking your appointments ahead of time as their schedule fills fast and its hard to request last minute appointments.

I am sad to have to do a negative review. It's not my norm, but hopefully helps others avoid the experience that I had. To start, I acknowledge the salon is clean, the staff is friendly and my nails look nice. My issue was with communication about timing, the service I was seeking and the injury I received from a technician being too rough. My friend and I wanted pedicures but arrived without a scheduled appointment which I know is a gamble. They said they had just gotten other walk ins and it would be a half hour. I was fine with that and decided to run across the street to 7-11 to get a snack while I wait. My friend stayed but called me 10 mins later to come back because they had apparently gotten mad that I left because she overheard ranting about 7-11 once I left (but full context wasn't clear since their convo was in a different language). If I need to be present for waiting, just be clear about that. I came back and still sat for several minutes before they were ready for us. We were both put in their massage chairs and the single tech assigned to us started on my friend first. I was understanding about us sharing a tech and not being simultaneously worked on since we walked in without an appointment. As the tech was getting my friends water started I got the attention of the tech and clearly said that we would both be getting the Regular Deluxe pedicure, she said ok. After my friend finished, the tech came and worked on me. I told her that I don't like filing and she filed anyway (not the first time, many places ignore my request to not be filed). But she also kept clipping into my cuticles aggressively. I do not have gnarly feet - the aggression was completely unnecessary. Once she finally started on the paint I saw that my toe had started to bleed. At the end of painting she was preparing to be done and I had to point out the injury. I am not being dramatic the bleeding was absolutely visible, I think she was just hoping I wouldn't notice. I called it out to her and she put some Neosporin on it. In addition to the other issues, throughout the service I felt unsure that I was getting the full deluxe that I had asked for. Our time seemed shorter than other ppl who were there, plus we were supposed to get both exfoliations and then moisturizing rubs. But I had never been to the location to compare it. At the counter when it was time to pay, the price was less than I expected. I wasn't sure if it was less because the tech informed them of the injury and was giving a discount. I asked just to be sure which service I was paying for - it was NOT the deluxe. I told the person doing my check-out that I had asked for the deluxe and she apologized saying that the tech doesn't speak very good English and must not have understood. Again I have empathy about ESL challenges, but if that is an issue it's the duty of the business to make sure to ask my requests at the start and translate. It's not okay to just leave it up to someone who doesn't speak the language to get it right. All this to say I was really frustrated and will never go back. I hope if you see this review and still want to give it a try, make sure to communicate up front with your specifics so they relay it to the tech, because the tech may not understand you directly. And also make sure they go easy on your feet if they start getting aggressive.

Had a relaxing Sunday thanks to romantic nails! I went with my husband and his best friend to get pedicures! It was my husbands first pedicure and he loved it so much! I didn't get the name of our technicians but they were all great! Especially when it came time for our massage! I would recommend romantic nails to anyone! read more

Got my nails and my fiancé's done at 6:15pm as we were running slightly late with our 3 month old son. I got red acrylic gel for my manicure and pink gel with my toes. There was a Cantonese speaking lady who spoke with broken English and did a great job on my toes. Though my skin is delicate and when she filed my toes a few times it burned from the friction. The tech who did my nails was Jessie and overall my nails look great. Minor technical flaws I'd go back and change but overall the nails look great. The filing was also great as the nails are thin and similar feeling to real nails as opposed to some that feel fake and extremely thick. However, she did cut me with the drill she was using to clean underneath my nails and was somewhat rushing through my appointment so was slightly disappointed. My fiancé previously worked with these ladies at a different salon so was pretty excited to go so hopefully second time will be better... shop overall was clean, staff was polite and price was good. Oh, my fiancé also got his nails cleaned up and got a massage which was great. Haha he loved it. read more

I love this place very much! I've always had a great experience and they've corrected some of the bad experiences I got from other nail salons. I'm definitely a fool for going elsewhere! The staff if friendly. The place is very clean. They take their time during their services. Their colors are super organized, which I love! They are pet friendly! There was a time, I had a random dog come and sit on my lap while I got my pedicure! You can call ahead and make an appointment or walk in when they aren't busy. I don't have a favorite because they are all so nice! read more

My mom and I went in to just get a fill. Yes we were just walk ins but there was only one person in there and they agreed to take us both but one at a time. I went first and just got a basic black gel fill and apparently that's $54!? Then my mom went with another lady who took almost 2 hours for a fill. I think she was in training and no one was helping her. Clearly she didn't know what she was doing and once she was done my moms nails were rough on the edges and parts of her nails didn't even have polish. Again she had a basic red gel fill and hers was $52!? We would have addressed the issues with my moms nails but we had been there almost 3 1/2 hours for fills and had other things we needed to do. We did let the owner know we were not happy and that we would never return. read more

2 weeks ago, I tried to come here to get a dip powder manicure, but there was no parking. So, I went to another local nail salon. Big mistake. Within an hour, my nail was cracked. I dealt with it for almost a week when another one cracked. Mind you I wasn't doing anything strenuous to cause the damage. Fed up, I drove back to Romantic Nails where I originally wanted to go. I didn't have an appointment, the salon was busy, yet was seated immediately. Kelly fixed my nails. So far, no cracks or chipping and my nails look great. Like I said before, the only problem is finding parking. I'm not sure if you can park in the 7-Eleven parking lot, but if you do park on the street, make sure you take notice of street sweeping days. The ladies in the salon will also remind you. Definitely will be coming back again. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. Worst service ever in a nail salon. I been doing my nails for 14 years from Duarte to Pasadena. Will never come here again. They hurt me, and wasted my time. I don't know why I paid but I guess to save the drama or maybe I felt obligated. One of the lady's laughed in my face. Worst soak off gel nail and manicure ever. The best nail shop I've ever been to. Great service. Super clean. Love the way the polish is organized on the wall. Color coded (gel and regular polish placed side by side). Super friendly staff. They are all amazing and talented! Patient and caring. They take such pride in their work. They are often busy but can even accept walk-ins if they aren't swamped. However, it's better to make an appointment and super easy to do so! They never rush you just to take more customers. You always feel at home at this shop! They talk and chat if you want but will never force you to make conversation. Always a fun time with all the girls and the owner. Love them so much! If I had more money I'd be there more often! I usually get gel nails and they usually can last me about a month! I wish I could afford to go more often but they understand and they don't ever try to pressure me to spend more money for things I don't need. The quality of the nail work is fabulous and it can really stay for one whole month! Pedicures are amazing!!!!!!! They seriously pamper you and they have the best scrubs, warm lotion, great massage, comfy chairs and everything is kept amazingly clean and sanitized! I am dreaming about it now! Highly recommended! I love Becky and Christine! They have lots of great employees and I'd trust them all to do my nails. Part of me wants to delete this review just because I don't want too many people to find out about it and make it harder for me to reserve a spot! Hahah read more

becky is the best. good luck getting an appointment- her regulars get first dibs. They have lots of opi gel colors.$30 for gel manicure that lasts 2-3 weeks. although acrylics are strongly discouraged here, there is one tech that will service acrylics for you. Salon is very clean and the technicians are closely watched by Becky. Her standards are very high. Best nail team in monrovia , easy!! read more

I got powder dipped nails and they came out amazing! It was a reasonable price and they didn't do it so thick. The ladies really know what to do and are good with color matching. i LOVE BECKY! I have been going to her for the last 3 years for my manicure and pedicure, wow time flies! She is aaamaaazzing!!! She is the new owner of Romantic Nails since the end of November. I always try to book my appointments early with her otherwise if you get a peek at her appointment book, it is ridiculously filled! I came on a Saturday as a walk in (don't do that FYI) and they were pretty busy but they still told me they could take me which was nice. I needed to get dip powder removed from my nails from a different salon and that took almost an hour but the lady that did my nails was pretty nice about it. I had no idea the place I had gone to before had damaged my nails from over filing but luckily she was able to make them look so nice again! Dip powder here is pretty pricey unfortunately but you get what you pay for I guess, they definitely know what they're doing here! read more

Wow! You will not find another nail salon of this caliber in the San Gabriel Valley. Your comfort and relaxation is foremost to the owner, Becky, who made sure I had a fantastic experience. I had a gel manicure and pedicure and what great value. Gel manis do not chip, are beautiful and shiny for a minimum of three weeks depending on how quickly your nails grow. Could last longer. I do not know of another salon offering gel pedicures, my pedi here was four weeks ago and still looks fabulous. I miss my pedi because the gel lasts so long. Oh! Bring in your jewelry because they offer complimentary jewelry cleaning and you can charge your iPhone while you are being pampered! I cannot wait for my nails to grow so I have to return, and I cannot wait to try their esthetician's services. They offer facials and waxing too. read more

This was my first time at Romantic Nails and will not be my last! My nail technician was Cathy. Wow! I was so happy with the way she did my manicure and pedicure, absolutely beautiful! She knows exactly how to shape my nails and took her time, it was perfect! It was so relaxing, she has a healing touch. She gave a wonderful massage. I can go on and on. I absolutely love this place! After one visit I immediately booked my next appointment! I went in feeling discouraged after having such bad experiences elsewhere but the owner,Becky and the tech, Maggie were so kind and accommodating. Upon walking in I was impressed with how clean and beautiful the place was. I was told to pick a color and could not believe how color coordinated the gel and polishes were! The shelf was so organized it was almost too easy to pick a color as well as a coordinating polish! All around the experience was wonderful and I'm very excited to have to be this place! I went in looking for a new place for my pedicures. I'm not sure if it was because I asked about pricing that they were so cold with me. All I asked if there was a price difference for men and women. After that it was almost like they didn't want to help me. the owner never acknowledged me or my husband. Its disappointing that your not very welcoming. Anyone new will have questions. Throughout my visit I was never asked anything, they never offered any extra add on's. I really love a design on my toes but i felt almost exiled after asking for pricing so I wasn't offered anything like my husband was. I hope you do better in the future so that people like me, who don't get very much time off can feel more welcomed in your salon. read more

I have been going to the same nail place for over 16yrs, but the quality of shop and staff had gone down. SO after years of driving by Romantic Nails, I finally decided to try them out.... Well, I left one happy Lady. First off, they were able to get me in on Christmas eve with no problems. They helped recommend nails colors. One thing I love when choosing a color, is that they are grouped in similar colors. My old place had bottles all mixed together so I would end up spending so much time trying to figure what I liked. Becky is A++. For friendly, and does great work. She did my Gel Nails and pedicure. And surprisingly they have this top coat for your feet that dries in 25 minutes so you can put your shoes back on. Shoes! Not slippers. It was great. Looking forward to more sexy toes and pretty fingers! read more

The package included so many things i've never experienced in a pedicure before and it felt so nice; There was hot wax in two forms (a candle and paraffin wax), clay, orange slices, a warmed shoulder compress, and salt scrub. So luxurious! My sister got gelx extensions on her toes from Grace and she was also very happy with the results. She was annoyed when I showed her my pic I wanted to copy. Buuut Instead of addressing the issues I pointed out, the technician grabbed my hand, held it down, and began cutting off my nails. I never asked for my nails to be cut and did not give permission for that service. I only wanted the uneven shaping and dents corrected. The handling felt rough and uncomfortable, and I was shocked that my nails were cut without my consent. When I told her that wasn't what I wanted, she simply told me to pay for the pedicure only. By then, my nails had already been cut much shorter than I wanted, and the situation could not be undone. Such lack of communication and respect for what I had actually requested. Customers should be listened to and asked before any significant changes are made to their nails like grabbing a hand and cutting off the nails. And based on this experience, I would not return.

Their selection of polish was not so good. 1 book board of nails for polish. 1 small key ring with maybe 15 plastic popsicle sticks and fake nails attached terribly and probably painted ten years ago. Lastly, framed board with the a fake nail and matching painted shaped item with the cheapest polish colors of tint with shimmer attempts that looks like it came from a child's safety nail polish collection. With that as the first indicator, we should have just walked away. We decided to be nice. The first nail person was asked for squared toenails. It was mentioned a few times nicely & she kept saying OK. As the filing of the top of the toe, and minimal on the actual nail, continued in a seesaw motion, which is not supposed to happen, and the toe was becoming irritated hot, and red, the response was well I have to file. We said not like that and the multiple requests to stop filing the top of the were ignored as well. Perhaps a better tool rather than the same worn out board that was clearly not creating a squared out shape for the top or sides. The closed cuticle area was still not cleaned and shaped into a straight line to the sides of the toenail so the shape of a toenail would be squared. To describe the closed cuticle area, it's bottom line area toenail that connects to the two sides of your toenail that go up into the open area of your toenail bed) I have outlined one of the pictures in red to show the area ... So second girl comes in, (obviously irritated everyone's speaking so we can't understand) and little filing type movements and then she says in a sing song voice " check it out " and the wave of her hands as if to be " let's make a deal "girls. We know they're not right she says oh they're ready. We said oh let's see then... Here we have the polish and for everyone who's had a pedicure or manicure, there is the understanding that the set~up for the nails has to pristine other wise there is this... Left with a terribly hideous pedicure, a second coat of polish was not going to do anything better for it. The cost for a gel pedicure in that salon was $40. We paid the value of the pedicure received, walking out with zero product on toenails which are very uneven and too short to straighten out... They accepted the negotiated payment. We are not too sure why they thought telling me that they had witnesses to show something-really would mean anything because we have these photos. The four people that were employees of some type or informed that the photos will be going to their social media accounts to offer This entire event is all captured on cameras in their salon, as well as the second nail person was either recording from her phone that was on the cart next to her or there was an open call of some type... Just another example of when there's the inclination and it's ignored "this probably isn't gonna turn out so well " It's making the selection to submit the post impossible unless you paste at least one star so that's the only reason that there is a star

zero stars!!!!…read more absolutely furious. absolutely outraged. absolutely disgusted. my sweet, respectful, polite, shy young daughter went into this salon expecting a peaceful, relaxing nail appointment. instead, she was completely ignored, bulldozed, pressured, overcharged, and treated with a shocking level of disrespect. we called ahead and specifically made an appointment for dip nails with tips. we knew exactly what we wanted. we requested dip nails with tips multiple times. there was no confusion. after putting on the tips, the technician proceeded to apply gel x instead. we immediately spoke up and corrected her. not once. multiple times. we said dip nails. we called for dip nails. my daughter asked for dip nails. instead of listening to the paying customer, this woman looked us in the eyes with her beyond evil bad energy and argued with us and tried to tell us what we should want. she acted as if our opinion didn't matter and as if she had the right to override the service we specifically booked and were paying for. how dare you look us into the eyes with your beyond evil eyes,bad energy eyes and soul and ignore a customer's request over and over again? how dare you decide you know better than the person paying for the service? as if that wasn't enough, the technician also made my daughter's nails much longer than she asked for. my daughter specifically requested a shorter length, but her request was completely ignored. when we asked for them to be shortened, the technician refused. what makes this even more infuriating is that this happened to a sweet, shy, respectful young girl. her kindness was taken for weakness. her politeness was taken as permission to steamroll right over her. she was completely disregarded while an adult continued doing whatever she wanted. we should have walked out the second she ignored our requests. the only reason we stayed was because she had already glued the tips on my daughter's nails and we felt put in a position where we had no choice but to continue. looking back, i regret not getting up and leaving right then and there, even if the job wasn't finished. no customer should ever be made to feel trapped into a service they did not want simply because the technician decided to proceed against their wishes. we clearly stated what we wanted multiple times, yet our requests were completely dismissed. once the tips were already applied, it felt like the decision had been taken out of our hands. that is not how paying customers should be treated. then to add insult to injury, we were charged even more, $60 instead of the $50 we were told over the phone when we made the appointment for dip with tips! we were charged extra for a service we did not want, did not request, and tried to stop multiple times. and the part that makes me even angrier? we actually left a tip. we should not have. after being completely disrespected, overridden, violated, robbed, and ripped off, we still left a tip out of decency, a decency that was never shown to us in return. a nail appointment is supposed to be relaxing. it is supposed to be a treat. instead, this experience left us feeling violated, robbed, manipulated, and completely disrespected as paying customers. please do not spend your hard earned money here unless you want your requests ignored, your voice dismissed, violated, robbed, and your wallet emptied for services you never asked for. i have never been so angry after a nail appointment in my life. watching my sweet, respectful, polite, shy daughter be treated this way filled me with a level of rage that words can barely express. this was completely unprofessional, completely unacceptable, and absolutely disgraceful. shame on this salon.

My feet have been through it the last couple of years (sports) and I wanted to get serious about caring for them properly, not just getting them painted. Of course, I turned to Yelp for the scoop and zeroed in on Ms. Glen's Therapeutic Manicures & Pedicures. I finally got a chance to go see Ms. Glen and it was everything I wanted and more. It was relaxing (I fell asleep)! It was restorative! My feet felt and looked healthy and cared for. I didn't get polished which is great because I have been wanting to go natural for a while to let my nails breathe and focus on what's really happening with my toe nail health. So may things I loved (in no particular order): - Very communicative from the appointment (via phone) to the confirmation and directions (via text) - Ms. Glen greeted me at the door - The studio smells divine (really sets the tranquil mood) - The studio was intimate (just me - yay) - The space was very clean (I am a stickler for clean) - There was a complimentary water waiting on me - Ms. Glen has developed her own techniques and products which speaks to her dedication and specialization (I love people who are passionate about what they do!) - Every step of the treatment was appreciated! (very detailed, very attentive, think - pampering your feet from the in-depth massage to the parrafin to the soaks to the grooming and much much more) - I got socks! This was such a special and much needed last step that I never knew I needed. It made my feet more comfortable and protected after such a beautiful treatment. She even asked me my size. How's that for customer service! - Now this one may seem trivial but I never had to hold my feet up during the treatment unless I was transitioning from the bowl to a towel. I do not like having to do that while someone attends to the bottom of my feel or heels. Ms. Glen has it worked out where I can truly relax the whole time. I also left with one of Ms. Glen's therapeutic hand and foot oils in Lemon. She makes the oils herself! It smells so good and leaves a refreshing but not overpowering scent. It feels good oiling my feet every night. Like another reviewer said, this is not your run of the mill pedicure shop. This is a therapeutic service that is worth every penny. My goal is to make this a regular treatment. If my feet are healthy, I am healthier! Thanks Ms. Glen for such a wonderful experience! I'll be back. And thanks again for the massage therapist recommendation. Rest and recovery, here I come!

If your feet are in need of TLC, renewal and restoration, Ms. Glen has a carefully curated service that will leave your feet feeling brand new. I had recently purchased a soap that helps with skin discoloration. It hasn't been making any improvement in the uneven skin tone and dark marks on my feet. Turns out I just needed an appointment with Ms. Glen. The exfoliation she provided literally rubbed away 15 years from my feet. My dry scratchy heels were left supple and smooth and the calloused areas were left soft. Had I known what I was in store for I would have taken before and after pictures. She even provided socks for me to leave in, to seal in the moisture. My favorite part hands down was the massage. She kneaded into these tired soles, and I needed that! I paid a little more than the price listed (which she does quote as a base price) but she also spent almost 2x the amount of time listed. My Fiancé noticed the difference in appearance and feel immediately. I intentionally waited until 24 hours+ had passed to write this review, wanting to see if my feet would feel just as nice. THEY DO!! Ms. Glen definitely puts pride in her work and I love how she checked in throughout the process to ensure I was satisfied along the way. I recommend her service to anyone looking to give their feet a more youthful feel and look. And if your feet have severe issues that might keep you from visiting open public salons, her private suite will help you feel comfortable and secure. Right before I left, Ms. Glen threw in a bottle of her therapeutic hand & foot oil once she saw how dry my hands were. I had discussed my upcoming nuptials with her and she wanted to make sure my hands moisturized properly for my big day, even providing a demonstration on proper application. Ms. Glen is a gem!
