The tuna crudo was completely raw and my friend couldn't eat it so we had to send it back. We got the Caesar salad instead and it was delicious. The ambiance was very romantic and chill vibes. Very loungey, lots of booths. A bit expensive if you ask me. I probably wouldn't come back here again just because it is a bit pricey for the amount of food and drinks we had. Sunday was my first visit to Rochambeau and wow - such a great experience. The food was excellent - very well prepared, high quality and delicious. I had the beet salad with pistachios and goat cheese and the spinach ravioli and both dishes were beautifully plated. Our server Sofia was as wonderful as the food - attentive, knowledgeable and helpful. She really made the meal a great experience. Great ambiance and nice bartenders. However, for $19 a pop, I would expect the cocktails to be freshly made in front of the customer. On a previous occasion, a bartender simply poured a premade cocktail with a hand-written label into a shaker in front of me and then poured it into a glass. On my last visit, another bartender took an order for cocktails, disappeared to the back, returned with a plastic kitchen container filled with liquid, disappeared again, and soon served those cocktails to us. We never saw the bartender touch any bottles in the bar area or mix any drinks there. All of this happened on a quiet Sunday afternoon. That is simply not an acceptable practice at a legitimate bar at this price point. I would appreciate a manager's response. read more

Came here with a few friends for drinks and a quick bite. We were able to sit at the bar for about an hour before a table outside had become available. At the bar we tried their thyme after thyme, strawberry mojito, bitter in French, serenity, passioné, and Moscow mule. All the drinks were great so you really can't go wrong with any. Being able to watch the bartenders was free entertainment. I loved their work ethic in being efficient and organized. For dishes we shared the escargot, half dozen of oysters, burrata salad, and yellow tomato gazpacho. The butter was made with plenty of garlic for the escargot but lacked the penetrated aroma it would have gotten had they been cooked together for longer. This was my first time having gazpacho and I loved it. The yellow tomato was puréed cold with little bites of shrimp, a perfect dish for the warm weather. The oysters were clean and fresh, but definitely on the bigger side for those who are not used to the texture of oysters in general. The burrata was good but the tomatoes could have been left on the vine a bit longer to give it that natural sweetness to offset the cheese and sauce. First of all our waiter, Nico, was outstanding! Secondly the support staff was amazing as well as they cleared dishes and make sure our water was filled on a consistent basis! The atmosphere was great. The restaurant has a great feel to it. To me it felt like it had a swanky subway feel mixed with a speakeasy. Food wise the gnocchi, the baguette, and the greens salad was very good . In fact the gnocchi was the best we had ever had! It had a great crust on the outside but was light and fluffy on the inside! So good with the lobster sauce! I had the steak fruits prefix menu. The fries were good the steak was hit or miss throughout for me due to some of the over chard from the grill. It was a detractor from the flavor for me. My wife had the short rib burgeon. She said the flavors were great however there was a root vegetable that was not listed on the menu that was undercooked and mixed into her mashed potatoes which ruined the texture for her. The cocktails were great and the wine that we chose to go with our meal was tasty as well. Unfortunately the biggest letdown for us was the crème brûlée for dessert. I did ask for the berries to be put on the side, which they were, due to the fact that berries on top ruins the sugar crust that should be on a crème brûlée (in my opinion). But when the crème brûlée came out it was covered in what seemed to be ready whip (this was not listed on the menu); that completely ruined the sugar crust on top. The crust was completely soggy. The next issue we had with it was that the custard was broken. It either had been cooked too quickly or cooked too long or overheated. Finally, we were initially impressed that it was not in a vessel of any type until we realized it was on a sugar cookie. The sugar cookie was not listed anywhere on the menu either. So if you are trying to be gluten-free this is not a good option for you. Unfortunately, the sugar cookie added a graininess to the custard when eaten together. The sugar cookie by itself was good. I fully expected a French menu to nail a creme brûlé, but was totally let down here. read more

French spot right next to Eataly by Prudential, which seems to be an interesting place to have a French restaurant. We went in a group of five, ordered some things from the Dine Out menu and some from the regular menu, and clearly the regular menu was better. It makes sense, but why put out something that is not a strong dish? Either way, our favorite dishes were the moules frites (mussels) and the gnocchi parisienne (with mushrooms). Some of the other dishes had good components but either were accompanied by something subpar (too burnt of a toast, for instance), or the components did not match well (the quinoa seemed unnecessary with the lamb chops). We experienced slow, inattentive service especially for a French restaurant. It wasn't even crowded, but our server kept forgetting to bring us our dishes, or things we had asked for. When we tried to order the dessert portion of the Dine Out menu, our server discouraged the selection we had made, and urged we choose the other one instead. I think it's nice if a server recommends something before we choose something, or after we ask for input, but it was rather off-putting that they would refute a decision the customer had already made. The vibe inside was nice though, not very loud and widely spaced out, divided tables for a good ambiance. read more

Visited Rochambeau for the first time last Saturday for brunch, and was pleased with my experience overall. We were greeted by several staffs as the hostess showed us to our table on the second floor. We ordered Breakfast Tarte Flambee (which is essentially scrambled eggs, bacon on a bread dough drizzled with tomato choron aioli) and Croque Monsieur (which is essentially a hot sandwich made with ham, gruyère cheese, and mustard, covered in béchamel sauce and served with fried potatoes as a side). Both dishes were flavorful. Their portions were pretty reasonable (leaning towards the larger side in my opinion). The tables were nicely spaced out due to Covid, but this place did get loud pretty easily as more people came in. The restaurant looks pretty spacious, so I think a reservation is likely not as necessary. I would recommend giving it a try if you are in the area! read more

I really enjoyed this place. It was located right next to prudential mall so it was we easy to get here on the T. The restaurant is really spacious and there were second floor as well. It divides into French brasserie and steak room and we chose the steak room. The steak room has all you can eat bottomless fries and a course of salad, bread, and steak. The server was really nice and kept checking on how we were doing. The whole course meal was 36$ which was definitely worth it. The fries were fried crispy and salted with rosemary. I came here for brunch with a few friends on a Sunday morning. We were seated in a booth and looked at their brunch menu. I shared a duck confit hash and a croque monsieur with my friend. Both dishes were great and the portion was just enough. There wasn't much duck in the hash, but the eggs were poached perfectly and went well to hide the graininess of the toast. The croque monsieur was filled with different types of cheese, but wasn't overly cheesy. The french fries were crisp and salty. The drinks are fantastic and the food is extraordinary. Our waiter Carlos was very friendly and gave us great recommendations the entire night. My friend and I shared everything. We had the Moules Frites and Octopus to start. Both very delicious. And we ordered the veal porterhouse for our entree with a side of Brussel sprouts. Time: Mid-November 2022 We had brunch on the second floor and the atmosphere was amazing. The decor is really pretty (see pics) and they also had a DJ up there for some nice background music. This place is also located right by a nice mall for some post or pre meal shopping The food was yummy but it still felt a little over priced. However, this type of pricing isn't anything different from most restaurants in the Back Bay Area. Croque Monsieur: done pretty well, the sauce was really good. The béchamel sauce was savory and complimented the cheese well. The inside of the sandwich also had a surprising hint of tangy-ness, which did well to offset the richness of the dish. The portion size is pretty big and the food itself is rich-tasting, so it's quickly filling. I hadn't eaten anything all day, but I still couldn't finish this dish! The pommes frites were also yummy and crunchy. Overall, it's a beautiful and relaxing place for brunch-- especially if you are planning to go shopping afterwards. 9/10 for GF - This place is fantastic! Nothing is explicitly labeled GF (hence the 9), but many things are! I ordered steak and frites. I asked my server if I should exchange the frites for mashed potatoes. She told me that I can still have the frites if I want. They usually use the upstairs fryer for everything, but there's another fryer downstairs that is GF. So, they had my fries cooked downstairs. It came with a little GF flag in it. No cross contamination experience for me whatsoever! I feel fantastic! 10/10 for flavor - Everything was absolutely delicious. 5/10 for service - I will say, this place is slightly more "high-end" (or at least it wants to be) and the vibe reflects that. There is just an overall air of that in the workers and customers. The only thing that could have made the night better would have been a little bit nicer of service. Don't get me wrong, she and they were textbook "good" servers: professional; attentive; accommodating; and nice... somewhat. The niceness was very service level and my entire party of 8 actually could feel the judgment and inner annoyance coming out of her. It was very surface level politeness. Also, before we were seated, we went to the bar (they gave us our table like 15/20 mins after the reservation time?) and the servers who kept walking by seemed annoyed by our group standing at the bar (like we were in their way...). Rochambeau has been one of the few patios that I visit when I'm looking to have a drink after work that does NOT require you to purchase food as well. The patio is a great area and their drink list (cocktails, beers, and wine) is quite varied to really provide you with whatever you need to fix the problems of the day. The prices are quite reasonable and there is rarely ever a wait so you can get in while feeling safe and sanitary. They are doing a fantastic job keeping everything and everyone in line with the requirements (such as QR menu codes vs. paper/laminated menus) and guidelines for Mass, and are happy to meet any additional requests you may have to make you feel safe. I have not as of this review eaten here, but as the good weather comes to an end in these "unprecedented times" I highly recommend dropping by and visiting the friendly and helpful servers if you're passing through the PruCenter either on your way home from work or after some quarantine shopping! read more

The ambiance is literally amazing in this place, there a few different rooms, the bar on the ground floor in darker and more moody, the area on the second floor is brighter and has really beautiful decor, it looks like a restaurant from Manhattan. I got the croque madame and it was absolutely delicious. The fries were incredible too. This place is pretty huge so I don't know if I really needed the reservation but it was easy to make online and the service was really attentive. I got the unlimited fries deal with steak. The fries were thin and newly fried so it was so hot and delicious. They also had interesting sauces and was able to request steak saucw and ketchup. The service was very fast and gave the new fries very quickly. The restaurant is huge with different floors so it's a good place for parties and big groups! The service here was amazing! Every member of the staff who we encountered- from the hostess, to the bartender, to our wonderful server, Eliza, treated us to an amazing dining experience. Eliza gave us helpful menu recommendations that contributed to the perfect meal (although, I'm sure we would have left satisfied no matter what we ordered). The French onion soup was the best I have ever had- the oxtail was tender and the gruyere was browned perfectly. We also really liked the atmosphere of the upstairs section, and enjoyed watching the chefs at work in the kitchen from our table. I don't know if it was our bad luck or this is what it is, the AC was broken during a heatwave, the glasses were broken twice while we were there, and the pieces of broken glasses hit our bare legs. Many, like many cocktails, were out of stock. And it was brunch. I don't know why they don't just close the restaurant for the day and come back later when all the problems are fixed or at least stock up on drinks. Bad experience is worse than no experience. It was terrible and I felt nauseous the whole time there. It felt cooler outside than inside on a 100 degrees day. We were so excited to try this place, bummer it was not good. I didn't give one star because the people who work there were smiling the whole time, and worked at a place with a broken AC. I respect and appreciate their professionalism and kindness. read more

I was glad that they seated us in a quieter area upstairs, with a booth and with a view into the kitchen, if you turned around. The Dine Out menu definitely wasn't as show stopping as the rest of the menu. I was glad we decided to order the duck confit salad in addition- the duck had a very cool texture from the spices on the outside and the way it was cooked, and had some deliciously crisp outer pieces, and the cucumber egg and other veggies and pickled veggie went well with it. My boyfriend really enjoyed the pork- which he said was cooked perfectly. I loved the fruit parfait dessert at the end- with fresh whipped cream, fresh fruit on top and compote on the bottom. The asparagus appetizer and the veal pappardelle were not for me, but the mushroom cap appetizer was a cheesy hit. Looking at some of the dishes at other tables, I thought it might have been better to order a dish with frites or a lobster dish- because those presentations were more dramatic, and they looked tasty. No Rochambeau is not one of the 29 Michelin 3-Star restaurants in France, so if you go there expecting it will be like "La Petit Nice" in Marseille or L'Ambroisie in Paris, you will be disappointed. First course - Baguette, Escargot, Fois Gras - 5 (perfect combination of flavors and textures - Baguette was warm and crunchy, Escargot Garlic - Butter sauce was an explosion of flavor, Fois Gras was light, airy and not overpowering) Main Course - Steak Frites, Roast Duck, Charred Octopus, Grilled Asparagus- 4.0 ( Steak and Béarnaise sauce was best thing on Main Course, Asparagus was cooked perfectly with a hint of heat and a delicious savory sauce, Duck was flavorful (fennel were best thing about the dish) - but a tad chewy and not a crispy skin. Octopus recipe should have been very good but it was slightly disappointing in its preparation (cold potatoes) and not "Charred".) Desert - Profiteroles, Creme Brûlée, White Peach Parfait - 5. (Profiteroles and Crème Brûlée may have been among the best I've ever had - homemade, unique, delicious- Parfait's combination of basil with strawberries was a complete home run.) I've had the French Onion Soup (delightful, lovely cheesey topping) and the steak frittes (which they are known for). I sat on the steakhouse downstairs and steak frittes with a delicious green salad to start are $37. Nice for when you know you want steak frittes. Otherwise I'd book upstairs. When I went it was about 1PM during the day, and I ordered the Chicken Club with fries, which was excellent. We live locally and have been four other times and had much better experiences. Not sure what happened this weekend, but we sat at the bar and the bartenders were both really off and they did not communicate well with each other. One brought us still water instead of the bottled we ordered. Then the second one brought the bottled we ordered with no acknowledgement of the mistake. Didn't open or pour it, just left it with us. My husband ordered a burger and frites. He loved it! However, they forgot to put my order in. When I finally asked about it after waiting for an extended period of time, the bartender said the other bartender forgot to put it in, did not apologize, but said it would be right out. It did not come right out. We waited for a very long time for food and my husband was done eating well before my food arrived. Not sure what happened but they never seemed to acknowledge any of the errors or apologize for anything. Overall, food was great, as usual. Service was really off and disappointing. read more
