Came here for a brunch in a group of 6. We opted to sit by the windows because it was beautiful out, and the windows open all the way allowing fresh breeze, and a view of the water. Once we were seated, our waiter came over to take our drink order and provide us with fresh Turkish bread and white sauce. We had a few different waiters help us throughout our entire meal. We ended up staying for a total of 4 hours because of how is immaculate the service was! There's plenty to do besides eat. We chatted, smoked hookah, and enjoyed tea and dessert. Summary: Probably the worst service i have seen and all because they are forcing customers to pay 18% tip by adding it to the bill by default. Wife and I went there for date night. we were told that there were no seats by the windows so we would be seated in the middle section. However, i could see some tables open in the outer section. Also the middle section is smoking while the outer one is non-smoking so would have been nice if they had indicated that. we sat down and ordered out food. the food arrived after a short while. i had ordered the chicken adana dish and no sauces were provided along with it. I only realized i should have sauces when i noticed other tables did, so i had to ask and i was given plastic containers with them in it. Overall food was acceptable, nothing special, nothing to write home about. My biggest gripe was the service. The wait staff had no interest in working, they just stood around looking really upset and staring at customers like myself. I was talking to my wife and i said that the staff has no intention of actually working, just collecting the paycheck. Which made me think that gratuity was probably automatically added to the bill. Hence the staff didnt care if there was good service or bad service, they will get their tips regardless. and lo and behold, thats exactly what happened. the bill arrived and gratuity was default added at 18% and the service was some of the worst service i had received in any establishment. I was being rushed by clearing plates and utensils off when i hadnt even finished the food. i had to tell them multiple times to not take my plate and one guy actually snuck away my plate when i was looking the other way. they are so busy trying to rush you out so they can fill the seat again that they dont care what you think of them. Rocca Cafe is pretty out of my price range, so I haven't had many things on the menu. The ambience is stunning. It's right on the bay and there's a beautiful indoor and outdoor dining area. Also, a lot of the outdoor dining has nice shade. The Caesar salad is phenomenal. It has so much shaved parmesan and it really makes the salad! I didn't like the babaganoush. We thought it was way too smoky. It's usually really busy there also. read more

Always a go to! My friends love the hookah and the view in the back of the marina is incredible. Only problem is they usually have a wait but now that they renovated and extended the restaurant to the front patio there's much more room. The food is always great and the music and environment is on point. We always order a bunch of appetizers including the Phyllo sticks and salads (quinoa is delicious) and a fruit platter with hot melted chocolate. Beautiful atmosphere both inside and outside. Such a classy, YET casual place to eat lunch! They have the most COMFIEST couch-like chairs inside and the restaurant is IMMACULATE! I was impressed. There is also outdoor seating on the deck overlooking the water. It was a bit windy when we came for lunch so we ended up sitting inside. Is it just me or are the waiters in almost every restaurant on Emmons Ave extremely tan and good looking? The language barrier makes it a tad bit awkward but the service was good. All of the staff aimed to please and did it with a smile which I liked. My grandma & I must've sat there for 2 hours chatting and they didn't mind one bit. The food was delicious. I got the arugula salad with grilled shrimp. The honey balsamic dressing was delicious and the shrimp was FRESH and grilled to perfection. It was a very light meal but it filled me up. The only negative thing I can write about this restaurant is they don't have alcoholic drinks. I would have loved to have a glass of wine with my lunch. BUT GOOD THING IS: the waiter said its BYOB. EVEN BETTER!!!! Next time I'm bringing a bottle of wine and sitting out on the deck and having lunch! It's such a beautiful view by the water. Another thing, they have a case of desserts. My bf n I happened to be there Coz of the sheepshead bay fest. I was really pleased with it. First of all, the staff are nice friendly. Services there was welcoming and I like they don't bother you while you dinning. Sec, the decor and view of it was awesome. They have outside dinning area right by the water, we'd love to sit outside if the weather today wasn't so windy. We sat inside close to window, it's such a pretty peaceful scenery in front of you. Last but not least, the food was delish. We ordered eggplant salad, sausage omelette and egg Benedict with smoked salmon. They were tasty with good surprisingly reasonable price. Worst experience ever. I came to have some lunch with my wife. We ordered the mix grill and specifically told the waiter no salad. They bring the food out and there is a bunch of salad in it. When I ask the waiter where the rice his, his reply was they have no rice before 12 pm. So why didn't they just tell me that before or after I ordered. They purposely put the salad on so the plate looks full and cover for their incompetence. When I told him why there is salad, he goes yes I know you didn't ask for it. You can remove it or I can. So he knew exactly what he was doing and not respecting the order I placed and only cared about their bogus presentation. Their meat was not that tasty. We eat Turkish all the time and this was no where as good. And lastly, their portion size is a lot smaller than other restaurants. I was VERY disappointed!! Will never come again! I ordered takeout from this place after reading some reviews. The good part was that they arrived a lot earlier than expected. Points right there. I ordered the Cheeseburger that came with fries and veggies on the side, a Falafel Plate and a couple of Strawberry and Marscapone Puddings. I had high hopes for the Falafel plate. While the hummus was delicious, the falafel balls were super dry and burnt on the outside. I didn't really enjoy them. Next, I tried the cheeseburger. Nothing to write home about, even though the presentation was nice. The fries were not good. No flavor to them. The only item that was 100 % fantastic were the strawberry and Marscapone puddings. I would eat that for the rest of my life if I could. Would I try ordering again? Maybe. Maybe I'd try to get something else. They are pretty expensive though. Let's just say it was hands down the worst experience I had dining anywhere in NYC. The servers were rude and the attitude they had was totally unbelievable. We had a problem with their hookah as it kept getting harsh in every two minutes. We notified the server and the hookah guy. Their response? We exceeded the time limit to which the hookah remains good!! We hardly smoked for 20 minutes but according to them we had been smoking for more than 40 minutes. They didn't consider to change it or take care of it rather giving us 101 on how to handle hookah. On top of that when one of my friends just asked to give us the check and was muttering a New York style curse word, the server started threatening him that he would sue my friend. Yep, you read it right. Sue him!! Unbelievable, unapologetic, atrocious service. When we complained to the manager, you know what he said? He will take care of us when we visit them next time!! Wow. What a complete shit show. The service was HORRIBLE. Food was overpriced and mediocre. First of all there were zero covid precautions being followed. Waiters wearing masks under their noses, the line was not distanced, the tables are too close together and the valet didn't even have a mask and yet he was yelling on the phone next to the people on line. Half of the items we ordered never made it to the table but some how still made it on the bill. I asked for water 7-8 times and it finally came AFTER we finished eating, I ordered French fries and got rice instead, then they finally brought out the fries, again after everything else was eaten. My friend ordered a margarita that also never made it to the table, and as we were getting ready to go the margarita finally came out. We ordered desserts and the guy that took the order never actually put the order in and went to clear tables instead. 10 mins passed and the other waiter came by and had no clue that we ordered. Mind you there was no regard for if our clothes would get dirty or not because of it. Total lack of COVID-19 precautions required by law. All staff, including those serving and preparing food, were either not wearing masks or wore them around their necks, with mouths and noses exposed. When we asked about this, a single serving person reluctantly moved her mask into place. I support the idea that restaurants should be able to open and do business to avoid financial distress. However, failure by the entire staff to obey NYC mask requirements shows that management just doesn't care about the health of their customers. This is obviously a top-down issue because it would take no effort whatsoever for Rocca's management to require all employees to obey the law. read more
