My husband and I were on our honeymoon during this visit and we decided to stop here to eat lunch. Well let me say this place was AMAZING! We were greeted and found a seat. Our waitress (I cannot remember her name) was an absolute sweetheart. She was extremely attentive, gave me suggestions on what to try, and was very kind. The drinks were delicious and the food was even better! I had the chili relleno and my husband ate the chicken fajitas. Definitely need to try both!!! We loved this place so much we went back again the day before we were coming back home. I was hoping to get the same waitress but we got another waiter and he was just as kind. They set a high bar for sit down Mexican on Maui. If you want a real treat, get the Lobster enchiladas in mild green sauce. They kinda nail it, I almost wish I would have brought my Pineapple/ Hawaiian-chilli hot sauce from home, but it is good enough to not need it I think, although it would then be a perfect dish for me, it's ok that I didn't bring it. Next time I will bring it tho, and I bet they would be cool with that. They are a fabulous tequila bar as well, I can't imagine them having a problem with me making a perfect dish more perfect. read more

My husband and I were on Maui staying in Kihei and craving Mexican food for lunch. We came across Roasted Chiles and decided to give it a try. I had chicken fajitas and my husband had the carnitas. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The vegetables were fresh and the meat tasted of high quality. The waitress was pleasant and helpful. Someone who we speculated to be the owner came out and asked us how our meal was. The only reason I am giving a 4/5 is that the fajita portion was on the small side. We will definitely come back when visiting again. read more

If you are trying to decide between Roasted Chiles and Amigos - choose Roasted Chiles! The food is 10x better with great flavor. The salsa has some heat and the onion ring and shrimp appetizer was amazing! Again, with Mexican food flavor is expected and these guys nailed it! Service and drinks were also better. read more

We came here because of the great reviews but I didn't have the same experience that other reviewers had. I ordered the chicken enchiladas with red sauce. The red sauce is essentially tomato paste with some seasoning. It was very thick and very heavily applied to the enchiladas. The rice and beans were disappointing as well- not your typical refried beans. While we ate no one came by to ask how our food was and our drinks were never refilled the entire time. I finally had to ask for our bill because the servers walked by us many times without saying anything. read more

My first time here was such a great experience. The waitress was so nice and she kept checking up on us and everyone else too. What surprised me was the free appetizer which was chips & salsa, and it was kinda spicy but I love spicy foods anyway. We got our food really fast and it was AMAZING. I also love the seating because it makes the restaurant have that authentic theme. While we were eating the cook came out and asked everyone if the food is okay and all of us said it was good & great. This place has been around a little bit and every time I drive by I say how I need to go try it out, saw they review on Maui Now and went in for lunch today... It was DELICIOUS! I don't know why I waited so long to go. The chips and salsa: Chips are not greasy at all Salsa is very good! They served a complimentary bean dip too it was super good! Best I have had yet!! It had a roasted Serrano pepper on top to add some flavor. We ordered the Queso Fundido Con Chorizo appetizer and that was fantastic! Such good flavor. I had the Mole de Pollo and OMG! soooo good! The rice had good flavor and mixed in with the Mole sauce it was heavenly! My husband had the beef Fajitas and he loved the fact that they were not super greasy and that they had great flavor to them as well. The service was also good, our waitress was very attentive to our needs, which is hard to find in restaurants here on Maui. Overall I would definitely go back to this place and next time try the bar atmosphere later in the day. It is a little pricey compared to what you can get at Amigo's, I hear a lot of people complain about that in some reviews, but it is so worth the money! read more

My wife found this spot on the Yelp app right after we finished up a whale watching tour and wanted to grab some lunch. And we (there was 7 in the group) were all very thankful for her and the app! This place was fantastic and absolutely earns all 5 stars with flying colors. We were greeted by an exceptionally friendly and attentive staff (we went over spring break and the place was busy too). I ordered the daily margarita special (heavily infused with fresh strawberries and mint). It was unique and wonderful. Considering it was only $6.00 I joked with the waitress that the place must be losing money one each one because of the freshness and how potent it was (they did not skim on the tequila at all!!!). Our food came out promptly and prepared with care. The servings were so big we wish we would have shared a bit more instead of all getting individual entres. Our waitress was unbelievably friendly and offered great advice on places to see, visit and eat at. If you are in the Kihei or Wailea areas, Roasted Chiles is a must stop place. Hands down best fajitas on Maui!! We found this place last year and had been craving it ever since. We finally made it back again and we were not disappointed. One entree in our group was delayed by quite some time so we were offered free dessert! Great atmosphere, awesome employees, and delicious food! Came in to test out the steak tacos one afternoon and I wasn't impressed. Beef cuts in a tortilla with some sauce. For the price, I expected at least some chopped cabbage. I sat at the bar, and the bartender wasn't friendly. I wasn't even offered water with my meal. Not a welcoming experience, and not authentic Mexican cuisine. Lacks effort. IMO, this is the best Mexican restaurant on Maui. It's located in the Azeka shopping center next to Bank of Hawaii. The ambiance is nice, small, with dim lighting and traditional Mexican music in the background. My boyfriend and I can't get enough of the fish tacos and langostinos enchiladas. The fish in the fish tacos are amazing. Fish is made tempura style. Definitely recommend trying these menu items. The service is outstanding. On both occasions eating here there were only 3-4 other parties, although they are slow, they are very attentive. Chips and salsa were refilled once my boyfriend and I devoured them in a few minutes. Water was never empty. Servers always checked on us. Really professional and friendly staff. We will definitely be coming here regularly. read more

That changed as our meal went on, also a week day. I asked for a dish not listed on the menu and they made it. The service was excellent! The waiter "Abraham" was very attentive and paid close attention to all of our needs. The food is great! The mix drinks are real, had the right amount of alcohol. Totally enjoyed our experience. Fresh authentic Mexican food in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Nice surprise. The owner, Orfin (sp?) was warm and welcoming. He told us his story of how his family moved here from Mexico City just to open the restaurant. His wife is the chef. My hats off to her! Everything is made fresh. Greens are from Kula. Went here and had the camarones ala diabla from the lunch menu... rice and shrimp was okay. But the sauce: The sauce is mighty finger-lickin spicy and smokey!! And add that to the mango chipotle margarita , top off with la paertita mezcal to finish, is like hitting the party button at the end of a relaxing day!
