I WISH THERE WERE MORE STARS TO GIVE! This was some of the best, most authentic Mexican I have ever had. Everything was phenomenal. The enchiladas were amazing. The baked stuffed chicken was cooked to perfection and every Marg we tried was perfect. The spicy ones were just right. Roasted jalapeño and Pina was maybe the best, most subtle, well balanced margarita I've ever tasted. But even though the food was perfect it was nothing in comparison to our incredible service. Alison was so great. Taking extra care to make sure my two sometimes picky eater children got exactly what they needed. We have eaten Mexican food in New Mexico and Colorado. This is not the Mexican food we enjoy. Not spicy and a limited dinner menu. Service was slow. I ordered beef fajitas and was given three small corn torttilas , I wanted more torttilas but we were pretty much ignored by wait staff. They have two choices of wine, one white and one red. Food is tasty but not great. This was my second visit and probably my last. We live here and there are better Mexican resturants. read more

My girlfriend and her parents had been talking about how good this place is for awhile. I'm finally here on Maui again visiting from Oahu and we had Roasted Chile's for dinner. Stopped in toasted chiles two nights ago for happy hour. We were greeted by very friendly wait staff who provided menus to each of us. We told the server that we were their for happy hour and had other dinner plans. They then informed us that their happy hour specials are $5 margaritas, two tacos for $5 and nachos for $5. We ordered a few mango margaritas, tacos and nachos. The drinks were just ok but the tacos, while really small, were DELICIOUS! But when the bill showed up, the margaritas were $10/ea. We asked the server why and she said the flavored margaritas were not a happy hour item. The menu didn't clarify either way, the server didn't say anything when we ordered (despite our group of 5 insisting we were only there for happy hour) and the server was pretty dismissive and not at all apologetic for the situation - as if we should just know that the flavored margaritas would be $4-5 more than the happy hour margarita. They were not top shelf or a different tequila - they just added $0.25 of flavor syrup. Very disappointing. We decided to try this place on a whim after a long day of sightseeing. They have a very friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere. As a vegetarian I was happy to see notes on the menu about their refried beans being vegetarian friendly, and several appetizing veg. choices. This was our 2nd visit - the first time, the food and service was good. When we returned to Maui this year, we picked it out on a whim and realized we'd visited it the year prior. Anyway, we got off to a bad start when our waiter brought the entrees first, and we had to remind him that we hadn't received our appetizers yet. The food was still tasty, but both my entree and my dad's were lukewarm. At least the appetizer, which arrived about 10 minutes after our entrees, was hot, and tasty. There was also a misunderstanding about our cocktail order and while it's entirely possible the waiter misunderstood my dad, my drink, a margarita, was noticeably weak. Chef is from Mexican city, mx. Vows that the food is made from scratch and from traditional family recipes. The tempura fish tacos with chipotle are great. You can tell fish is fresh. The meat is good and doesn't Taste fishy. Steak fajitas is good. You can taste cumin in the seasoning. Comes with choice of corn or flour tortilla. Sides include beans, rice and lettuce/Pico. We ate here on our last night in Maui. We were crunched for time, but we wanted a hot meal before we made our long trek back to Georgia. The reviews look good, so we stopped in. They brought us out some chips and salsa, and it was the best! The salsa is spicy and fresh. We ordered the fajitas with chicken and the veggie enchiladas. Both were excellent. we got the enchiladas with the Verde sauce, and it was unique with the potatoes in it. Definitely some of the best enchiladas we have tried and a great vegetarian option. The service was great for the most part. It took A few minutes before someone came to take our drink order, but after that the service was fine. When the waitress came to take our order, the first thing she asked was if we were vegetarian. Not sure if she asks everybody that, or if it was because we were Indian. I think she was just trying to be helpful, but I thought it was weird. Overall we really enjoyed it. Could have probably enjoyed it more if we weren't in such a hurry and anxious to eat and get out of there. read more

I looked around for Mexican fare on the island of Mau'i. I was in the mood for it, after riding a bike up to the top of Haleakala, earlier in the day. I found this place, with good reviews and an owner that answered every inquiry on yelp. That convinced us to give it a try. Star level would've been higher, if it weren't for a few questions I didn't find satisfactory answers to, and some of the ways your entrees were priced. Service was great, attentive, maybe even a little over the top. Pricing structure and reasoning, didn't add up for me. Case in point. My partner ordered a shrimp fajita. Base fajita meal, which I would assume would be just vegetables was 15.99 Adding shrimp: 3.00.. 18.99. My order: Veggie fajita. Base: 15.99: add Vegi (!?!?!?): 2.00. WHY?????. Isn't that was the base was to begin with? This doesn't make sense. I asked the server, "why the added cost". I got a lame excuse about some added veggie that made the cost go up. They couldn't seem to explain which one it was. The vegetables consisted of bell peppers (a few green a couple of red slices), more potatoes than I care for, onions, and maybe one other. Little corn tortillas: 3 of them for an additional 1.50. I believe this was for additional entries. I've eaten at other establishments which do not charge for additional corn tortillas. In fact, it was not mentioned that they were additional, at any time, when they brought over the second batch. Usually, when you add meats, it "normally" costs more, but I could've added chicken, and it would've cost the same amount, but since I'm a vegetarian, I didn't choose that option. I am still not satisfied on the explanation on why you have to ADD an additional $2.00 for a veggie option. The $1.50 additional for the tortillas, also threw me for a loop. Either your servers need to make a point of it, or it needs to be highlighted that additional tortillas are an additional $1.50. I would like an explanation to me and to others who read your reviews why you do these things. Knowing what I know, you probably only get my business once. read more

Very clean with great food and good service. Had a mango margarita and a roasted jalapeño margarita. Both were good! No public restroom? That's kind of weird. There are not enough stars on Yelp to accurately rate this restaurant!!! Seriously! The chiles rellanos and chicken tacos were so fresh and full of flavor! All of the food is made in house and you can taste the difference. Super friendly staff with great recommendations. I was very impressed that they even made their margarita mix from fresh limes and lemons (not a bottle mix). Little disappointed in this place. Drinks, chips and salsa were top notch along with the service. I order a steak burrito for $21 and expected it to have steak in it. There was very little steak. Filled with beans, unmelted cheese, and lettuce which wasn't part of the description on the menu. I sent it back very disappointed. OMG. Wow. Almost too good to believe. Seriously, whoever concocted this menu must have magical powers. Let's start with the ceviche, which is what we did. In-credible. Uh-mazing. This is how ceviche is supposed to be done! My wife had the fish for her entree and I had their famous lobster (langostinos actually, but who's quibbling) enchiladas, and both dishes were to die for. As for their salsa, it's the best I've had in years. It might be a little too fiery for some, but for us it was the perfect blend of spice and flavor. Well done! We were far too stuffed for dessert, so I can't comment on that. Oh, one last tip: there's a spicy garlic sauce, can't remember what they call it. But ask for it - you'll thank me. Like everything else at this truly awesome restaurant, it's done to perfection. Finally, i can't close without mentioning the service. The friendliest, most pleasant staff we've encountered in Maui, and that's really saying something on an island renowned for its friendliness.
