It's possible some staff were assigned to bartending or other responsibilities, but from the guest perspective it gave the impression that table service was understaffed while other employees appeared unavailable. As for the food, it was nothing special. I ordered a steak that had a nice smoky flavor, but it arrived well done and overcooked. The rest of the meal was average at best and definitely not memorable enough to make up for the service issues. Between the lack of air conditioning, slow service, inattentive staff, and mediocre food, this was one of the few places in Hawaii where I genuinely regretted spending my money. Then, onto the Bourgeois Pizza made with fresh lobster, lapa'au farm oyster mushrooms, and mozzarella cheese! This is the only restaurant I've ever been to with lobster pizza and it is SO GOOD! Big chunks of fresh lobster...forever grateful to the chef who came up with this. Our server, Amanda, made the whole evening a treat. A couple dishes really stood out; the poke tacos was excellent, the kalua pork & pineapple was amazing and by far my favorite dish (which is half-off during happy hour, resulting in subsequent happy hour trips), and the strawberry cream pie which was delicious. The dishes I had which could have been better included both the organic macadamia nut crusted fresh fish and the fresh caught fish tacos; they served mahi mahi the night we went, and both were "okay," but I've had ample better of both dishes at other establishments in Maui, and especially at these really high prices -- I'd recommend going to a better spot for these dishes instead. I found the monkeypod mai tai to also just be "okay"; can definitely find better mai tai's on the island. So at the end of the day, I concluded that the main dishes and cocktails weren't really worth it, but discovered that they service 50% off of appetizers and pizza during happy hours, so I would definitely recommend visiting during happy hours.

While they did not smell bad, they were not enjoyable to eat at all for the price. The price tag is more for the presentation rather than the quality.
