Truffle fries, a soda and a sangria
Carolyn F.

I agree with Mona's comments. My experience is based on an October 2024 Wednesday evening. Kim provided efficient service. We order a soda, a sangria (red) and shared a huge bowl of truffle fries. The fries were freshly made--hot, crispy outside soft inside and topped with a sprinkling of cheese. The Sangria was perfect to sip while listening to live music from a songstress with a guitar on a lovely tropical evening.

Libby was the best bartender in the whole state of Hawaii. What a spot. This is truly my happy place in Kihei.

Bad food, bad music too loud, bad service, high prices. Used to be okay, but after the new operator came on it went way downhill.

Food sucks. Atmosphere nice as it is poolside. Live music every night from 5-9 makes it worth coming to as long as you eat elsewhere

I got the coconut and pinapple pancakes and the pinapple was out of a can and there was hardly any coconut. Very disappointing

We ordered three large pizzas: regular cheese, margherita, and sweet kalua ($75). While we waited, we sat outside on the patio, where there was a live musician who was really good and entertaining. The staff was friendly and checked on us to see if we needed anything while we waited. It also seemed like a chill bar where people could grab drinks and hang out on the patio. We took the pizzas home, and they were delicious. Our favorite was the sweet kalua. It was not overly barbecuey or sweet, but actually pretty savory. The margherita pizza was good too. In general, their pizza stands out because there is not too much crust. It was not crispy, but instead airy and on the doughy side. The reason I am giving 3 stars instead of 5 is because one of our group members found a blonde hair baked into his pizza slice, not just sitting on top. That was disappointing, especially since the pizza itself was actually very good.

I'll still support the place, but to really love supporting them even more, I have some friendly recommendations. I love the char on the meat, the salsas are great and were given to me cold (great sign! As unbelievable as it may seem, this simple step is missed in a lot of places!), the beans and rice with the sasoun like abuela used to make- chef's kiss! and even better than Ono tacos in Kahului in my opinion, and their beans and rice are pretty fly). The pollo and asada, one day has more flavor than the next. Some days, no salt at all. So if you bring a guest, just pack some limes and salt just in case, so they'll believe you when you say this place is awesome. Problem solved. Additionally, the comment about the fatty inedible bits of steak- yes, I have experienced it also, that is an anomaly that the chef should be able to catch. That's not ok and will turn a lot of people off from the food, please quality control or let the butcher know so you guys are getting value. Sometimes I know those fatty cartridge chunks can contribute to flavor because of the oils, but that can be done in a separate process and removed before plating with that primo asada. First visit I loved the carne asada tacos. Quality is very hard to find here on Maui, and once you find it, consistency even harder, but I really like this place so I'm coming back and bringing more folks. The marinade and seasoning was on point that first time. The second time, the beans and rice had wayyy more flavor than the chicken and the steak, just being real. I look forward to trying more. I bring guests here and they say the same things. I'm a huge fan of Mexican food, and I know food can be hard work, just iron out your processes so they're firme every time, make sure everyone working follows the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) and people will remember it for sure, the potential for even more greatness is definitely there, no one else is making tacos like this! just needs attention to detail. Also.. not to end on a bad note, but I've gotta say it- you -always- should provide or offer silverware to customers, and napkins. That's only proper form. The service and kindness of the young man taking orders is impeccable, he is kind and personable to people and you can tell he was raised with respect , has dignity and kindness for others. Well done! This is rare also and people notice. What a good bruddah! Thank you so much for your hard work and efforts. I live with constant pain. I don't always wanna cook, shop, marinate, and all the steps it takes to make an epic meal, unless I'm cooking for a lot of people I love. I can tell you're spreading the love with your food, I hope my honesty isn't harsh, I really want everyone to eat well and I want businesses to do amazingly. Gracias!

While it was a little snug for 6 adults and a toddler *she didn't want to use the offered high chair*, we did alright. We all chose different drinks like the virgin strawberry daiquiri, pink lemonade and a boozy shake. All were tasty and brought to us by 3 different people. For food, we had At the Hop (a grilled chicken with BBQ sauce), a BLT, mozzarella sticks, and a couple of other burgers I honestly can't remember the cool names of. Seriously delicious all around. Unfortunately, our waitress seemed rushed and a bit on edge when taking our drink order. When the coffee martinis arrived, one was accidentally spilled. After taking a sip of the other, we were honestly surprised by how unpleasant it tasted -- more like muddy, old coffee than a cocktail. It was undrinkable. Unfortunately, our waitress never checked back to ask how the drinks were. On a positive note, the food was enjoyable. The half rack of ribs, burger, and fish sandwiches were all tasty and satisfying. We're hoping this was just an off night and that next time we'll experience better service -- though we'll definitely be skipping the coffee martini!

It's a perfect spot for local bites and a solid drink. Speaking of drinks--the beer selection is top-notch, and the cocktails were delicious and surprisingly affordable. It feels like drink prices are finally leveling out even while food prices keep climbing! Food-wise, we sampled every flavor of the sliders. They were all very tasty, though a bit heavy on the salt for my personal palate. We also tried the wings, which come in a great variety of flavors. My only real gripe was that the fries were a bit overcooked, but the service was so fast and attentive that it made up for it. Overall, a great neighborhood spot for a casual hang. I'll definitely be back for the cocktails.
