Their barbecued ribs are surprisingly special and fall-off-the-bone-tender. My husband really enjoyed the fish tacos. We both had grilled chicken on our second visit. I can't remember the last time I saw baked potatoes as a side choice and they were perfectly prepared as well. We found the service to be very efficient and friendly despite the place being super crowded and busy both visits. The milkshakes are a bit spendy with the 'daily special' running $18! Our second time at this location and it was just as good. This time, we had a bigger group and we're seated in the back room in a booth. While it was a little snug for 6 adults and a toddler *she didn't want to use the offered high chair*, we did alright. We took our nieces to Cool Cat Cafe for dinner in Kihei and were excited for a fun family night out. We were seated in a booth in the back room and ordered coffee martinis. Unfortunately, our waitress seemed rushed and a bit on edge when taking our drink order. When the coffee martinis arrived, one was accidentally spilled. After taking a sip of the other, we were honestly surprised by how unpleasant it tasted -- more like muddy, old coffee than a cocktail. It was undrinkable. Unfortunately, our waitress never checked back to ask how the drinks were. On a positive note, the food was enjoyable. The half rack of ribs, burger, and fish sandwiches were all tasty and satisfying. I was in Kihei on a trip from Los Angeles and had the taste for a burger. I also wanted a meal out that wasn't going to cost an arm and a leg. I was seated right away and after browsing the menu I got the duke and a side of fries. I thought about a cocktail but decided on one of the mocktails-the virgin cool cat punch. Updating my review for Cool Cats new Kihei location. So glad to see they were able to find a new location in Kihei. We stopped in on a crazy busy Friday night. We were able to be seated right away. It was loud but that is to be expected, it was a fun vibe with lots of children (and some adults) enjoying the arcade area. Our party all ordered burgers and shared chili fries and onion rings. All of our food came out quickly and man oh man did it hit the spot. All burgers were cooked to perfection. The chili on the fries was nice and zippy and the onion rings were hot and crispy. She got 2 Duke sliders which had bacon, onion rings and bbq sauce and I got 2 Ono fish sliders with yummy lilikoi beer battered ono, cabbage and tartar sauce. We ordered 2 milkshakes, a burger, chicken sandwich, chili burger, the fixings of fries and onion rings , a taro burger with rye bread (that was mine and it was delicious!!) I savored it and saved half of it to eat later.Well...it was gone by the time I went to eat the rest of it! My hubby said that it was a good burger ! He thought it was an impossible burger. Nope! IMHO In all the years I've been going to Maui, I've never dined at Cool Cat Cafe until this trip. Formally it was on Front St. in Lahaina but has now re-opened in Kihei. We had more incentive to go this year because we had a coupon which offered a free root beer float with our entree. I LOVE ROOT BEER FLOATS!!! Cool Cat Cafe looks like a 50's diner, very whimsical and fun. My husband and I shared the 3-piece Fish & Chips, $25. He ordered a Big Wave Golden Ale beer, $11 and I was waiting for my free root beer float! This year, 2026, we decided to order burgers. My Jailhouse Rock burger included sauteed mushrooms and jack cheese with lettuce, tomato, mayo and thousand island dressing on a French roll. I opted out the onions. The problem with this sandwich is that it was too large for me to eat. I ended up cutting it up. I'll ask for it on a regular bun next time. Love being able to go to Lahaina businesses in their new spots! Finally made it to Cool Cat Cafe in Kihei. Had the fish tacos, blackened and side salad. Both were great and the service was quick and friendly! They have a small arcade in the back and a bar in the middle. Fun spot to go on your own, with a group and good for families. Where do I even start? My best friend Sean just reopened Cool Cat Cafe in Kihei, and it's been absolutely amazing. The new location at Kukui Mall has plenty of parking--spots are a bit snug, but there are tons to choose from. Inside, the air conditioning is a lifesaver from the Kihei heat, and I've never waited more than two minutes for a table, even when it's busy. Plus, you can order online or at the kiosk right when you walk in, which is super convenient. Now, about the food... it's still the same Cool Cat we all know and love. Everything is delicious. Their milkshakes are hands down the best in town, with tons of flavors to pick from--but I'm partial to the classic strawberry. The burgers are always fresh, never frozen, and perfectly put together with just the right amount of lettuce, onions, mayo, mustard, etc. Their ingredients are ALWAYS fresh and perfection every time. Sean doesn't joke around with quality and pops in frequently to make sure of it. The fries and onion rings are always hot and crispy--never soggy. The onion ring batter is perfect--golden, crunchy, and absolutely heavenly with their homemade ranch. Speaking of sauces, the ranch and BBQ sauce are so good I was putting them on everything for a while. They've also added a few special items from their sister restaurant, Captain Jack's, like the fish tacos and the Philly cheesesteak--which is honestly the best I've ever had. Overall, this is hands down my favorite restaurant in Kihei. We love the staff, the food, and the new location, and we're so glad to have Cool Cat Cafe back. We brought a friend to Cool Cat to show her Maui's top rated burger joint. We were immediately offered a round booth in the main dining room. Rachel arrived quickly with menus and water. She was very nice and answered all of our questions with a smile that was most charming. After careful consideration, I ordered the Sh-Boom, a very unusual burger. The ladies each wanted fish & chips and we ordered a basket of onion rings to share. We only had a little time to talk story before the food arrived. The onion rings were a little over-done one side. We're they cooked on a sheet? In an air fryer? It didn't affect the fact that they were delicious and perfectly crispy. We had bbq & ranch dipping sauces. Good choice. My Sh-Boom was an open face burger, cooked medium, on grilled sour dough bread. It was completely covered with chili (with beans), 4 kinds of cheese (looked like cheddar and Jack to me) and diced Maui onion. The burger was perfectly cooked and the chili was plenty spicy (as advertised). I was very satisfied. I sampled the fish, too. It was excellent. The breading, texture and flavor were spot on. We came to Cool Cat Café after a recommendation from the locals, and they did not disappoint. The whole aesthetic is super cool retro diner vibes with a Maui twist. Our server, a really chill guy from Pennsylvania, was super attentive and made the experience even better. We ordered a chili cheese dog, the steak and ribs plate, and my a hamburger. Everything came out hot, quick, and delicious. We also ordered two Mai Tais, and let me tell you...the drinks were on point. Perfect ratio of alcohol to the syrups tasty and smooth. What really stood out was the atmosphere. As we sat at our table, we saw so many locals walking in, greeting the staff with hugs, and chatting like family. You can tell everyone knows each other, and it gives the place such a warm, welcoming feel. Our drinks were always refilled without even having to ask, and the service was outstanding from start to finish. I totally recommend coming here. Next time we're in Maui, Cool Cat Café is definitely going back on our list. Let's do it again! read more

We come here now since Front street fire, last year no issues went yesterday and the waiter was non stop every time we looked up staring at us as we were finishing up our fries he attempted to clear off the table twice we had to tell him we were not finished yet and mind you I ate my food and was using my plate for ketchup while we all were still eating the fries and he took my plate he handed me the check and hovered until I got my wallet out as I handed my daughter my card because I was going to use the restroom here he is reaching over me to grab the card from her. What is this non locals issue?? If he is thinking this is proper way of doing things he is wrong we have plans to go back and see if this happens again I sure hope not because if it does I will definitely be taking my complaint all the way up. This is our first time at this location and so happy for Cool Cat that they were able to reopen in Kihei. Ate here on a Sunday at lunch a little before noon. Was seated right away in a booth and was able to place our order pretty quickly. The adults got burgers- Leader of the Pack, Luna and The Duke and shared a basket of frings (half onion rings/half fries). The kids ordered from the 12 and under keiki menu and got the grilled cheese and chicken straps with fries. They also shared a Chunky Monkey milkshake. Everyone enjoyed the food. Big fan of the Luna burger. Really juicy, seasoned burger, cooked medium and topped with avocado, crispy bacon, melted jack cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, Maui sweet onions, mayo and thousand Island dressing. A little messy, but worth every bite. Had a sip of my kids' milkshake. You can really taste the chocolate, fresh banana and peanut butter. It was blended smooth, creamy and thick. Very nice of them to split it into two glasses for them. They also offer a generous kama'aina discount with Hawaii DL or state ID. We are so glad Cool Cats opened in Kihei! It is easy to find right off SKihei road & has a large parking lot. It can get crowded at dinner by the looks of the parking lot so went for a late lunch. We were greetseated eeted immediately upon entering. Our waitress brought us drinks and menus and was so sweet and helpful & answered all our questions. I ordered the 2 piece fish and chips. My husband got the sh-boom burger and we also ordered a basket of onion rings. The food arrived quickly and everything was delicous. The onion rings were a little over cooked but still good. My fish was perfectly cooked and the fries were crisp the small container of cole slaw was pretty bland. Cool Cats was always one of my favorite locations to go when I visited Hawaii and I was devastated when I heard their location was tragically destroyed in the Lahaina fires. I was unbelievably happy to discover that a new location opened up in Kihei! When I went here again, it was like nothing had changed. Still the delicious, juicy burgers. Still the crispy onion rings.
