We did a staycation over in Maui and visited the mall. Hungry for Mexican, we decided to give Fernando's a chance. We are so glad we did. The establishment is spacious and service was exceptional. They charge for nachos and salsa but that seems the norm for many places. The salsa was good. The green had more of a vinegary taste which i love. I ordered the chili relleno as that is my standard whenever I venture to a new Mexican restaurant-plus it's something that I could never make. I was not disappointed. The chili was massive and the cheese pull extraordinary. The mr had a chimichanga and said it was packed with chicken and flavorful. Rice and beans are pretty much standard in taste. We were so impressed we were thinking of coming back again the next day before heading back to the airport. Will we come back again? Um yes please and keep stuffing that chili relleno!

I was immediately greeted and seated upon entry. The waiter took my beverage order and lunch selection. Then went over and replaced the hostess prepping the knives and forks in napkins. Only after several minutes, just before my lunch arrived did he bring me the water I ordered. The restaurant appeared to be clean, music in the background a tad bit loud, but pleasant. The chili verde arrived. The tortillas were slightly warm, not hot. The food was heat hot but not spicy. Chips and salsa are not served And there is a 3.5% processing to use a credit card.

I'm so glad we came here for a few drinks on Friday evening! We walked in it was still day light and happy hour had already started! Drinks were cold and the service was great! The waitress was really sweet and attentive. My only wish was that they would have a draft beer but instead I got a cold beer in a cold glass. Hey pretty much the same thing! So I won't complain.. We ordered the chicken Nachoes so we could share. Plus I also wanted to try the Birria Tacos!I wish I had more consume. Just a small little serving! But I went complain! We will be back to try their margaritas! This place was really easy to find. They're located in the Queen Kaahumanu Mall at the end where Sears was! So if you're ever in the mood for some good Mexican Food come here! This place seemed pretty laid back. Ooooo and we left when it was dark! Happy hour starts at 3 till 6 (I think)

I used to eat at Fernandos all the time when they were in Maui Marketplace. So it has been a little while since then. My girlfriend and myself were at the Queen Ka'ahumanu Mall the other day and we were hungry so we decided to stop in and grab a bite to eat. When we got there they were not that busy, there were only two or three other parties there. So we were seated almost immediately , it looked like the host was also our server. So she was pretty busy. The place is looking a little run down, it did seem clean just needs some fresh paint. The server was very nice I wish i could remember her name but I was exhausted from a long plane ride. She did however let us know that they had no alcohol which I don't know if that was just for that day or if it is ongoing. That was not really a problem for me because I just wanted food and not alcohol. The food was pretty good. We ordered the carnitas taco salad and the adobada burrito which came with rice and beans. The taco salad was really good the burrito was ok but i feel like it could have used more flavor. The prices have Definitely gone up since the last time we ate there. I don't feel like the prices match what you get the flavor were ok but not great. The salsas were ok but not great. Hopefully they were having an off day, will have to try them again but as far as this time around was not impressed with price , product only thing that was decent was the service.

    Jamaica margaritas are amazing!!

If you're craving bold flavors, refreshing drinks, and top-notch service Fernando's Mexican Grill & Cantina delivers it all! Every dish was packed with authentic flavor, the margaritas were chef's kiss, and the service made us feel like familia. Highly recommend if you're in the area a true hidden gem for great food, good vibes, and unforgettable hospitality! I probably come here with my friends at least once a month. This is our spot to unwind, drink great margaritas (lilikoi and mango are my faves) and get some quesabirria tacos. This is my go-to meal here because the consomé they make is so delicious. It's thicker than others I've had, so it stays with your taco when you dip it. Yes, it's a little pricey, but the servers are super on it, the food is delicious and they have a nice bustling atmosphere. We also love their fajitas, which come with all the fixins on the cutest serving platter. Please check them out and give this great family owned business some love. I've been a longtime patron and have had nothing but great experiences!

A quick stop here cause of a long layover and soooo good! Fast service as needed! Great chips and salsa- love the green one! Fresh and handmade. Crispy shredded chicken tacos full of flavor! Those crunchy tortillas are so good! The fish taco was full of diced grilled fish with a great slaw and just the right amount of sauce! The birria- wow!!! We have had a lot but this is an all star! Full of meat and a thick spiced flavorful broth. The beans and rice great too! Perfect skinny margarita... Wish we lived closer!

Always ordered the Chicken Taco Salad. Very sad to hear the Kahului Food Court Fernando's closed. Service was great despite only one waitress on the floor. She did a great job even as a solo. We beat the lunch hour traffic so it was quiet. We enjoy ourselves every time we visit Fernando's.

Welp, this is a great go-to place for happy hour in Central Maui. Others are Casanova Bistro, Ale House, and assorted bars along Lower Main Street and Wailuku. Although there are new taco joints out there, we wanted a cold beer with our lunch. Fernandos here we come. Gotta say service was great, friendly and attentive. Beers were cold, tri-color chips were crisp, salsa was fresh. The place is comfortable and clean. A new Avocado-Jalapeño Sauce really hit the spot and is very impressive. Pork Carnitas was really great, seasoned and fried flavorful, not bland. Battered Chili Relleno was generously stuffed with 8 ounces of delicious Jack cheese. Warm beans and red rice were good with typical Spanish seasoning. A side of corn or flour tortillas were nice and warm. There may be better Mexican Cuisine elsewhere, but for location and convenience, it hits the spot on Maui. Located across the Friends of the Library used bookstore, and the now defunct last Sears & Roebuck store in Hawaii. Large portions for the value. Get some while the half-filled Ka'ahumanu Mall is still here.

$6.99 Happy Hour Margarita-no complaints! Great price point for the area. Nothing over the top to make me want to come back for another, but this was not dissatisfying. Location is a bit dated (door handles broken to get into the restaurant with a chair propping one of the doors open). Service was good at the bar, and the vibe was relaxed. Nothing to sing or cry about!

No worries; it's worth waiting for. She gave me a pager, and we watched the chickens while we waited for our 4 soft birria tacos. As always, it was worth the wait. The burria was plentiful, with cilantro and diced onion, on the tacos. The flavor was excellent, especially with their tomatillo salsa and a squeeze of fresh lime. Glad to see the sliced radish, the pickled jalapeño and (oh, man) the marinated carrot slices! As if that isn't good enough, we also got a burria burrito to go. Let's start by saying, they pulled into the pole position of my most delectable Mexican food bite and place in Hawaii (albeit only had on Oahu and Maii, lol). My order: Chorizo Burrito Bowl and maaayynnn Thai thing was loaded. Starts with a layer of rice, beans, chorizo, green and red cabbage, pico de gallo, avacado, topped with chipotle aioli. Then on the side is a lime, pickled carrots, jalapeño, radish, and I chose spicy salsa. The bowl is huge,, and i stuffed my face and finished every bite haha; it goes to say hot great it was. The rice and beans are a perfect layer of goodness, the crunch from the fresh veggies, that smoky and spicy (light) of the chorizo, richness of that avacado, and finished off with that nice creamy aioli. Then I hit it with the kick or the lime and extra spice of the salsa. I'm in heaven. Oh then add side tart, tangy, and crunchy bites of the pickled veg. Waaaaawhoooo was my tummy happy. I'd like to say, I want to come back and all their other options such as their soft and questo tacos or biria. However as I am not in Maui much, probably going back for my home run. Hopefully next time someone else is with me so I can try their choices haha. The staff were friendly and food came out in good time. They are located on the back side of the food truck area, so don't pass them by if you just jump into the main area. Definitely recommend them for all who havent.

However, my husband discovered this jewel while gassing up at Costco. He saw someone eating an amazing burrito and we had time. We shared chips and green salsa. Fantastic green salsa with onions, mild (medium, says the husband). He order carne asada burrito. The flour tortilla was fresh, pliable and "moist". His words. Big Hunks of delicious meat. I had a fish taco and a pollo asado taco combo with rice and black beans. They were both on a soft corn tortilla, with lettuce, jalapeño, onions and cilantro. Amazing spice on the pollo! The fish was perfectly grilled with a mild spice that didn't overwhelm the fish. I had to stop myself from licking the plate and I think I barely breathed between bites as I inhaled the meal. I definitely recommend Las Piñatas of Maui if you are looking for authentic Mexican food in Maui. Best Mexican since we moved out of California in 2022.
