Great happy hour! We appreciated having several food and drink options to choose from. The poke was delicious, and the smash burger was incredible. The local catch dip was also really good. Our server was excellent and helped us navigate the GF menu items. My only complaints were the small biting bugs on the patio and that both of our happy hour drinks were a bit bitter. All in all, we will return due to the spectacular view, service, and food.

My first time here and I brought family here for there first meal in Hawaii. I was very impressed! I wanted them to have a meal with an ocean view. I honestly didn't think this place would have such beautiful views of the ocean while we dined. I had a pulled pork sandwich it was a reasonable price and good size portion delicious too! Great service also.

Two words: EAT HERE!! We went for Happy Hour and were immediately met by Julie who was Phenomenal!! She is hands down one of the best Servers we've ever had, and we have traveled all over this country and others! Then there's the restaurant itself. It's lovely! And the views are to die for!! We were here on a slightly overcast day, and they were still amazing! The mountains in the background, the ocean and then the beautiful foliage! Worth the he visit just for the view honestly. But when you add in the service, and the food! My, My!! Speaking of the food! We went for Happy Hour and ordered from that menu. Not one miss! We had the ribs which were good. The Caesar Salad was lite and refreshing. The Miso Honey Crunch Wings were SO delicious. But the star was the Hurricane Fries! OMGOODNESS!! They kept getting better as we got to the bottom of the bowl! They are a MUST!! The. There were the Mai Tai's!! Best I've ever had!! Don't let your visit be without one! This place s a true 5 Star place. And say Hi to Julie for me the 30 year couple. = )

Very convenient after golfing at Wailea. Making a reservation on Open table is super convenient to do. Just make sure you are able to show up due to their cancellation fees. There's bar seating and regular seating available. It's open air. Option to sit outside or inside. We had mixed experiences here throughout the years that we visit. Food is super good here. Always good. The burger is great. The poke is yummy! We just tried the grilled cheese and that was Ono too! The staff however can vary, depending on who you have. Our last server was super good and attentive. Very nice gal.

    Calamari

Came in with high expectations, but unfortunately this one missed the mark across the board. The Kung-Pao Calamari sounded like it would bring some heat and bold flavor, but it landed flat--more soggy than crispy and the sauce lacked that punch you'd expect from ginger-hoisin. The Crispy Brussels were also a letdown; they had a decent texture but were super mild, and the vinaigrette didn't really add anything memorable aside from a greasy taste. We ordered the Hoku Kai Seafood Salad which looked fresh, but the flavors just didn't come together--everything tasted muted and incredibly under-seasoned. The vinaigrette tasted mainly like oil, no other flavors. Same story with the Ahi Au Poivre, which should've been the standout, was in our experience didn't elevate it and was a genuine miss. Overall, nothing was outright bad, just very forgettable and lacking flavor for the price point. The embarrassment was this was intended for a birthday dinner, no dessert menus were offered. Rating of 2/5, disappointed and will not recommend or try again.

Great views of Maui, especially at sunset! The food was really great too. We enjoyed some calamari, poke to start. Mai tais and pina coladas are fantastic! Our entrees where so good (Cesar salad with shrimp and the ahi au poivre) Service was great!! It's a splurge but definitely worth it!

The sfaff at Lava Java in Kihei recommended Gather to us. It is owned by locals and we aim to support locals when we visit rather than large corporations. Even with this possibly limiting goal we found the food service ambiance top notch. takeaways: go to watch the sunset or expansive views on a clear day The pineapple upside down cake is delicious! A must try. The bread service is addictive $8 per order Be prepared for above and beyond service.. we celebrated a bday here and the waitress saw i excused myself to the restroom. She waited until i returned to serve the bday dessert and candle! large group friendly ; huge restaurant overlooking golf course and expsnsive views of maui The shoyu black cod... delicious with risotto and bok choy pairing Short ribs notable: fusion asian style short ribs , moist fall off the bone non alcoholic cocktails abundant for guests who do not drink entrees $ 28-58 Thank you Gather for the special family dinner experience All seven of us are grateful to Gather here

The delicious grilled Ono with white rice instead of sweet potato mash. Excellent!

This is one of the better restaurants in the Kiehi area. The grounds and property are beautiful giving you the true 'old' Hawaiian feeling. The Hawaiian Ono and Ahi was prepared perfectly. All the service staff was very accomodating, including our server Eric and the bartender Kelsea. We loved this place we came back and dined at the bar the next day.

Beautiful open feeling when you step into Gather in the Wailia Golf Club grounds offering spectacular views of the course and the Pacific ocean. Wasn't too busy around four PM and we sat in the outside deck in the shade. Maui Caesar Salad & Maui Pineapple BBQ pork ribs on the happy hour menu(3-5pm daily )were one of the best deals we found while dining out on our trip. Salad @$8 was freshly made with garlic croutons , White anchovy ,house made dressing was a good starter. The pork ribs were tasty, messy but not a lot of meat on them. Side slaw was tasty. Gather Mai Tai with Kula light & dark rum and a plethora of fresh juices was refreshing and so good it required a 2nd round.(also on HH menu @$10) Good service allowed us to relax and take in the nature beauty without feeling rushed or being neglected. Fun time out.

This may be the best happy hour secret in Maui! The views are gorgeous- the price is so good - the food and drinks were delicious! The cocktails were $8-10, and we got the salads, the poke nachos, the hurricane Brussels, the smoked fish dip, and the lilikoi sorbet. Soooo good! Highly recommend the Brussels and the salads and the poke nachos!

We were looking for a place away from the Kaanapali Beach where we had been eating all week. We decided to drive to Wailea. Nestled in the lush greenery and coated with flowering bushes a beautiful golf course with the restaurant. I found the Gathering on Maui online when looking for dining with the best view, at first I was sure how we were going to see the water because we were driving away from it, but then we saw the view. It was breathtaking! The staff were amazing and recommended dishes we loved. It is on the pricier side but well worth the price and drive. The dress code was come comfortable, casual or dressy.

We loved everything about this restaurant and our service! Riley is the best server! He was kind, quick, knowledgeable! We went to many restaurants in Maui during our week stay and gather really left an impression on us. It was easy with kids with a beautiful view. Great drinks, great food, great service.! we will definitely be back. Ask for riley and tip him good :)

Happy hour visit. The wife and I ordered Mai Tai's. Strong and tasty, not a fan of the lime haupia foam. The waitress suggested a citrus non alcoholic drink with fizz and cinnamon. A hit. Ordered the Beet Poke, Maui Garden Salad, and the BBQ Pork Ribs. We liked the Beet Poke the best. Similar flavor to a fish poke with good texture and flavor. Served over a bed of brown rice. The Garden Salad had good ingredients, we would have liked the vinaigrette to be more intense. The ribs were cooked really well but the sauce was not special. Great service and location.

However, the owner took the time to respond and explain that the entire shopping center wing was experiencing cooling issues and that the restaurant was dealing with significant staffing shortages at the time. While that doesn't completely change the experience we had, I appreciate that the owner acknowledged the challenges and responded professionally rather than dismissing the feedback. One observation I would offer is that, as a customer, it was difficult to tell who was serving tables. I noticed several employees in Pint & Cork shirts moving around the restaurant, but only saw a couple of servers actively covering the dining area. It's possible some staff were assigned to bartending or other responsibilities, but from the guest perspective it gave the impression that table service was understaffed while other employees appeared unavailable. I still think there is room for improvement in the flow and logistics on the floor, but I appreciate the owner's willingness to engage with feedback and explain the circumstances. That being said, I would be willing to give the restaurant another chance. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPDATED REVIEW AFTER OWNER'S RESPONSE: 6.21.26 I appreciate the response. It's telling that you addressed the air conditioning, disputed the gender of an employee, and questioned whether I was even there, yet didn't meaningfully respond to the concerns about service, timing, attentiveness, or food quality. If a customer leaves with a poor experience, the question isn't whether they perfectly recalled every detail. The question is why they left with that impression in the first place. I suspect future readers can draw their own conclusions from both the review and the response. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Probably the most disappointing dining experience of our Hawaii trip. We specifically asked to sit indoors because we wanted a break from the Maui heat after spending the day outside. Unfortunately, we quickly realized there was no air conditioning, making the indoor seating barely any cooler than outside. The restaurant also felt severely understaffed. It took around 10 minutes just to get a Diet Coke, and every time I asked for assistance, the woman working at the register seemed to defer the request rather than help or find someone who could. Meanwhile, some employees appeared more interested in chatting than helping customers, while only one or two staff members seemed to be working the floor. I understand restaurants get busy, especially in a tourist area, but the issue wasn't just the wait--it was the feeling that customer service wasn't a priority. As for the food, it was nothing special. I ordered a steak that had a nice smoky flavor, but it arrived well done and overcooked. The rest of the meal was average at best and definitely not memorable enough to make up for the service issues. Between the lack of air conditioning, slow service, inattentive staff, and mediocre food, this was one of the few places in Hawaii where I genuinely regretted spending my money. Considering the location at The Shops at Wailea and the prices being charged, I expected a much higher level of hospitality and execution. There are far too many great dining options in Wailea to come back here.

Tonight we visited Tommy Bahama, a restaurant we make a point to visit at least once every time…read morewe're on the Big Island or Maui. Unfortunately, this was by far the most disappointing experience we've had. Looking back, we probably should have asked to speak with a manager while we were there, but after everything that happened, we simply felt uncomfortable and wanted to leave. I'll start with the positives because there were several. The drinks were delicious, the sea bass was excellent, and the dessert was absolutely incredible. The pasta itself was a little overcooked and soggy, but the flavor was still very good. The disappointing part of our evening was the service. After our server initially introduced herself, it took quite a while before she returned to take our drink order. When we were ready to order dinner, my husband was still deciding between a couple of menu items. Rather than giving him another moment, our server became visibly impatient and said she would come back after delivering our drinks. It ended up being more than 10 minutes before she returned. When I asked whether the entrees came with bread, her response made me feel embarrassed for even asking. Since they didn't, we ordered the biscuits as an appetizer to enjoy while waiting for our meals. Our children's meals arrived promptly, which we appreciated. However, our server never once stopped by to see if the kids needed anything. I had to flag down another server just to get ketchup. Meanwhile, our server walked past our table several times without checking on us or asking if we'd like another round of drinks--which we actually would have ordered. When our entrees arrived, the biscuits still hadn't come out. Shortly afterward, our server finally checked on us. I let her know that since our meals had already arrived, we no longer needed the biscuits and simply asked that they not be included on the bill. Her response was, "Well, they're made fresh and in the oven now. I guess I can go tell the kitchen you don't want them anymore." I replied, "They were supposed to be our appetizer, and our meals are already here now." Before I could even finish my sentence, she walked away while I was still speaking and appeared to mumble something under her breath. That interaction left my husband and me feeling shocked and disappointed. We've dined at many restaurants over the years and have never felt spoken to in that manner. We had considered asking to speak with a manager at that point, but honestly, we just wanted to finish our meal and leave without any further uncomfortable interactions. This was especially disappointing because Tommy Bahama has always been one of our favorite restaurants and a place we genuinely look forward to visiting whenever we're in Hawaii. We hope this experience was an exception rather than the standard, because the food continues to be wonderful--the service simply did not match the quality we've come to expect.

Suggested tip is 25%, that's a huge red flag! Lahaina Brewing purchased Kohola brewing about one year ago. How I wish I had visited before that, because looking at historical Yelp reviews, the previous food offerings look SO much more interesting and were made with local and traditional products. Now what you get is $11 spam musubi, a pretzel that has both fish roe and sugary syrup on it (gross!) for $21, pseudo-Niçoise salad for $28 (WTF!), and imported shrimp cocktail for $5 a shrimp. Piss off! Even the server said it was a total rip-off. The menu is massively disappointing for those who actually have a frame of reference. Good thing we only came for beer. Tried the Kohola beer in Makawao and was very impressed. The Tall Story Pale Ale is really excellent, gold standard for pale ale, but you don't have to come here to enjoy it. Happy Hour is 2-5 p.m., $2 off Kohola draft and $4 off a glass of wine. Regular price beer is $8.50, fairly standard price. Unlike others, we had a good service experience.
