I made a reservation at Roaring fork for a birthday and overall we had an enjoyable evening. Let's talk food- We ordered the 8oz filet and the 16oz New York Strip. Both were cooked at a perfect medium rare and were juicy and chalked full of flavor. The side that stole the show was their green Chili Mac n cheese- amazing!! The truffle fries were good, but paled in comparison to the Mac. What caught me off guard was the service not being up to par. Roaring fork has been known to have good service so when the waitress was very unfriendly and didn't even offer a birthday dessert, I was fairly disappointed. We asked her to sample two of the Merlot's before we purchased a bottle of wine and she acted as though we were a burden. I'm hoping this was a one time occurrence. I would like to come back and experience their happy hour with a view of the quarry and hopefully update my review with phenomenal service. read more

Woah now. I didn't know what to expect but this place nailed it. From the apps to the main courses everything was excellent. They were able to nail a perfect medium rare which sounds like it should be easy but it is not, and they did it. We went here for our anniversary, and the whole experience was disappointing. When we arrived at 7:05 for our 7 pm, the hostess told us we had to be done by 8:45 and asked us if this was OK. We were caught off guard because it's pretty rude to say that to guests who have a reservation. But we said yes. Maybe we should have turned around. We ordered a cup of cream of mushroom soup and skillet cornbread as appetizers. The soup tasted good but was barely warm. The cornbread was ok but stuck to the pan and very thin. They were out of the 12 oz filet, which is odd for a restaurant that doesn't have much on the menu to begin with. Husband ordered the ribeye instead, and it was tough. My 8 oz filet was well prepared, and the truffle fries were good as well. The Brussels sprouts were overly sweet and oily. We were offered a complimentary dessert for our anniversary and chose the bread pudding. The Amy's ice cream on top was delicious but the pudding was like a giant hunk of sweet bread with a dry, hard crust. While our waitress was polite and pleasant, the attention to detail was lacking. It took a long time to get our water glasses filled. In between courses, errant food was left on the table instead of cleaned up. We had to use a spare napkin to wipe up the mess ourselves. And with the big deal they made about being done by 8:45, that's about how long it took because the service was very slow. All that for $168, not an insignificant bill. We will not return. read more

But not in an annoying way. The food? Crabcake appetizer was crispy on the outside, tender and tasty on the inside. And the remoulade on the plate was yummy--just the tiniest bit of heat. Big Ass Burger was cooked perfectly mid-rare. I subbed in truffle fries. Could have eaten just those all night and been very happy! Being from the south I love myself a juicy steak! I ordered the steak Caesar salad which is a 6 oz filet with a Caesar salad so I felt it was a win win! Unfortunately, my steak was a little dry and over cooked. Also, the Caesar dressing was a bit spicy so I opted for ranch. The Mexican street corn was fresh and grilled, however I think it was overpowered by the sauce, maybe ask for it on the side. The restaurant itself has a beautiful view of a walking trail and lake and a large patio. Did not find the staff to be super polite but maybe they were just having an off day. read more

Every time I come here, I have a bad experience. But after today, I'll never return. One filet was overcooked and the NY Strip was tough, full of tendons and difficult to even cut through. But, we had good service, a nice bottle of champagne and I hadn't seen my sister in over year; so I wasn't going to complain. UNTIL, not even 10 minutes after we pay our $300 tab for subpar food, the manager comes to the table and asks us to move to the bar, because we were seated without a reservation and other people were waiting for our table. Meanwhile, we look around and see several other empty tables. Lovely way to end the evening. We had a small team dinner here one Thursday evening - my first time visiting. I was surprised at how packed the place was on a Thursday evening! We sat at a table by the end of the bar. Our server was personable and hilarious. We ordered a couple of appetizers to share - the fried crab and avocado and a Con Queso with pork and roasted peppers - both were absolutely delicious! One word - great. Service was fantastic. Meal started with a bottle of Decoy Cabernet from the Sonoma region. Wonderful wine and reasonably priced. Our appitizer was the mussels and chorizo dish - the chef out did himself - the sauce was to die for in both taste and presentation. Next was the ceasar salad - the only disappointment of the night - salad was drenched with dressing- although my +1 and I ate the majority of it. The cornbread appetizer is made on a skillet and is very crunchy almost blackened. Tasty though I prefer mine more moist. The Rotisserie Chicken was gobbly good. It is a half chicken made with cornbread stuffing, oven roasted green beans, and lemon garlic jus. The chicken was a bit dry but overall flavorful. The stuffing was A+- crispy and full of sweet flavor almost like a sweet potato even though it was corn based. The green beans were fresh and crispy and had obsorbed much of the lemon garlid jus. Crushed Yukon Mash Potatoes: The side of mash potatoes was creamy and smooth. It had a slightly sweet aftertaste. Queso Con Puerco: The queso didn't feel too heavy because the consistency was on the thinner side. It had an addictive spicy kick from the green chilis, which is a nice touch to the creaminess of the queso. Came here on a recommendation. It lived up to the hype. Great steak house with beautiful views of the lake from the outdoor patio seating. The drinks were well made, and we got a decent pre meal buzz from just 1 drink. For appetizers we wanted to try the baked avocado with crab, but unfortunately they stopped making that a few months ago. We went with the queso con puerco. It was delicious and had a nice little kick to it. I got the 22oz ribeye which was very juicy and the butter on top added a lot of texture and flavor. Side of green Chile Mac and cheese was alright, but not as good as the ones I can get back in El Paso. My girlfriend got the 8 oz filet and the asparagus. I've passed by their sign a few times but finally got a chance to book it for a birthday dinner. The interior is spacious and dim - a good choice for a romantic dinner. There are outside seating if you want to dine by the lake. We ordered the fried avocado & crab, roasted chicken, steak, and mash potatoes dishes all were superb, very filling and cooked to perfection. The fried avocado was a unique take. They have some good entree choices with specials of the day. Overall, we had a pleasant meal experience, service was very attentive and knowledgeable. My husband and I as well as some valued friends ate dinner here Thursday 2/25/2021. Everything was great, until we returned to my truck, to find it had been broken into. My daughters backpack with her school issued chromebook (which was inside her bag) were stolen. A restaurant of this quality would expect some type of protection. My husband went back in the restaurant, the gentleman he initially spoke to, said they have been having quit a few break-ins, with the most recent, being the week before. Michelle the manager on duty, was not very nice to my husband nor our friends. She was more concerned with them not having a mask on, and informed my husband their cameras only go to the end of the sidewalk. She then told my husband the sign says closed and that we need to leave. When you dropped $400+ in one night, and eat here often, you would expect better treatment. We been told we are not allowed back to this location. What do expect when you drop this amount of money in one night, and walk out to find your vehicle broken in it. They don't give 2shits about your safety here . read more

Michelle the manager on duty- was the rudest and most inconsiderate person you could've ever met!!! COMPLETELY DISRESPECTFUL!!! When you spend $400+ on dinner the last thing you expect is to be blown off and asked to leave after realizing your vehicle was broken into on their property- your child's backpack and chrome book stolen. During the course of the incident another bartender informed us this has happened before several times. Really? An establishment of this quality doesn't put any effort into ensuring their guest safety? What would've happened if we would've walked up on the criminals in the act? What if they were armed? It is an elevated ambiance and the inside is very formal. I would have loved to see the patio area during the day because this is what they are known for. The appetizer queso was very unique and definitely worth a try. I had the pork and grits which was absolutely amazing! Only downfall is the very large pricetags on all of the food items. This place wildly exceeded my expectations! Every dish we had was fantastic, the cocktail was delicious. Our server was so kind and helpful with my gluten allergy. The bar and overall restaurant had a great vibe, and the view from the patio was beautiful. The mashed potatoes were so creamy and delicious. The pork tomahawk was cooked medium (as requested) and full of flavor. The butter on the filet was the perfect addition to a perfectly medium rare steak. Great ambiance! Really liked the happy hour choices. We arrived about 15min before happy hour and our server was nice enough to ask if we wanted to wait to order to get in on the happy hour. We ordered the guacamole which was very good. The big ass burger is definitely named right. The hubby and I both ordered one, we both barely finished it. If we did it again we would probably split it. The servers changed shifts while we were waiting for happy hour to start, but the first server told the second one, Erin, exactly what we're going to do so we didn't have to repeat anything. This is my go-to restaurant when I want to take someone new to Austin out but want to make sure there are plenty of options and the food is always good. I always get seafood and recently, they have added additional options to the menu. The halibut is great and the fish tacos are good too. My go-to side is the mushrooms and the green chili mac and cheese. You can't go wrong with those two. I also love sitting out on the patio with a view of the lake. As one of the pictures shows, we ordered a 22oz ribeye (most expensive thing on the menu) and the steak wasnt cooked evenly throughout. I ordered an 8oz filet and asked for it medium and it was undercooked, more on the rare side. But, on a positive note... the atmosphere was great. Its over looking water with beautiful views and a nice outdoor patio. The mashed potatoes were smooth and one of the best ive had. The sides are shareable but they say the appetizers are and for a hungry person, definitely not shareable. But the drinks were delicious. Very trendy restaurant- delicious meat and great drinks too! We did a mom daughter night out and this was an excellent choice for that "Special" occasion adding some flair ! The tables are super distanced (post Covid) so that get great even though we were indoors. Our waiter was very attentive and we had a great evening out. Not rushed at all, which was perfect for us! First drinks: old fashioned and chocolate martini cocktails: on point! Yes sir. Then we had the queso dip with pork: oh boy that was delicious!! The chips were crunchy and fresh but the seasoning of the queso was what was soooo tasty! Yum. We then shared the bone-in 22 oz steak which was perfectly medium inside and a little bit charred on the outside: perfection! We had a side of mashed potatoes and asparagus which tasted very tender even though they were so big that I was surprised they tasted tender at all! (See picture) Overall a great upscale experience. My only surprise other than the huge sized asparagus was that the steak was a bit cold. It wasn't cold- it just was warm, not sizzling when it came to the table.
