Pleasantly surprised by this RIGATONIS. This is behind Guns Fishing & other Stuff. Tons of parking .Pretty simple menu- they have fettuccine,Lasagna, tortellini, salads, spaghetti all the Italian staples. Pretty flavorful. Have a two flavor sliced bread bar with butter containers for spreading . The drinks are unlimited but the ice and the root beer was just as tasteful as I'd say a McDonald's beverage machine. No joke. You pay at the counter register then go grab your utensils napkins etc. salt pepper and chili red flakes are already at the tables . The place is never busy and there is plenty of seating . I think the main issue with this place is that the location is pretty hidden. The menu is kid friendly . The spinach tortellini I had was not bad just enough for a filling lazy lunch . Only like 1-2 persons here working here but they were very friendly . The shades are down and make this place look dull , closed and uninviting. However it is open and people still go here. More of a like a family place. Yes I can probably make the entire menu items at home . The meal was like $24 w drink unlimited refills..not expensive but not cheap either. I will definitely try the lasagna or spaghetti next time when I'm craving pasta or Italian . I really hope this place doesn't close up shop. They do have catering and seem to advertise it a lot, I think that is the most popular service for their menu .

Cajun pasta and garlic bread with a side of salad

It's a hard pass for me Listen, if you want pasta, you are better off going to Olive Garden or going to an Italian restaurant in your downtown area. I ordered the Cajun Pasta with shrimp, and it felt like I was eating macaroni cheese. I ordered garlic bread on the side, and it was like plain cheese bread. I am very disappointed with the food. I only finished the side salad and left the rest of the food. $29 for everything, not worth it

Very unhappy, i feel like the food used to be of better quality. I spent about $30.00 for this lasagna and garlic bread. Very mediocre and just flavorless. There was no sauce, it was just dry and greasy.

Our family is a regular patron at this restaurant. They offer great pasta and other entrée dishes. What I appreciate about them is their semi-service style; you order at the front counter, and they bring your food to the table. The restaurant is clean and organized, creating a relaxing atmosphere. Bread is complimentary, and the service is fast and friendly. Their pasta is always served hot straight from the open kitchen. I highly recommend this place!

Large amount of the rib versus leafy greens in my Caesar Salad

I am once again rating Rigatoni's 1 star because of my experience with the Justin, the general manager. I went there yesterday and ordered a started Caesar Salad and he wanted to charge me an additional 10 cent for extra croutons and 10 cent for a bag. I have been a customer at Rigatoni's for years and I have never been charged extra for croutons or a bag. He told me the state requires them to charge for a bag, but this isn't true according to this information: In California, a fast food bag charge is typically 10 cents per bag due to the state's single-use carryout bag ban, which requires stores to charge a minimum of 10 cents for any paper bag provided at checkout; this applies to fast food restaurants as well. Rigatoni's has plastic bags, not paper bags, so they shouldn't be charging customers. Because I had a problem with him over charging me before, I usually go there on weekends when Justin is off. But he was there on Saturday and Malik and Chloe weren't there and they don't overcharge me. I did not purchase the Caesar Salad because i didn't want to be charged for extra croutons and a bag for my salad.

    Fettuccine Alfredo and Rigatoni Bolognese

Rigatoni's used to be one of my family's go to restaurants. I haven't been here in a while but I recently went to try it out again. I got here around 6:30pm and the restaurant was pretty busy, but there was a decent amount of tables open. When we sat down at a table we noticed that there was a lingering oder in the back of the restaurant. I have a feeling this smell came from the bathroom, but it made me wonder if possibly the bathroom had not been cleaned recently. Obviously I moved tables because a bad smell would ruin your whole dining experience. I got the Rigatoni Bolognese ($17) and my brother got the Fettuccine Alfredo ($16). This is relatively higher than I remember it once being, so I was expecting a higher quality or bigger portion. There is an open bread counter where you can get unlimited bread, butter, and oil and balsamic. The food came out relatively quick. It was an okay size but the quality is more what I was skeptical about. In my opinion, the sauce for both both meals were watered down and lacked seasoning. It is almost as if they forgot to put the heavy whipping cream in it to actually turn the liquid into a sauce. If I were you I would save your money and go to a restaurant with a higher quality of pasta.

You get a full service experience here as opposed to a casual eat. There is a complimentary bread bar that you can help your self to before your meal. The food comes out pretty quick and isn't the most fresh. However, the food does have a strong flavor profile which is a plus.

Catering review. Picked up an order for a party of six.. The restaurant looks like its typical ambiance. Ordered Caesar salad, chicken Caesar salad, meatballs, chicken Alfredo, and garlic bread. Seems like food isn't as good as dining in. Usually rigatoni would be a favorite, but not this time around. The salad was probably the one thing I enjoyed the most. Then the meatballs would be the next popular. But the pan wasn't at least bottom full of meatballs. The Alfredo looked skimped on. Not even a quarter full of the pan. The bread was a bit stale. Seems to be that dining in is a better choice than ordering catered sizes to go.

Cheese ravioli with Alfredo in the forefront. In the background is garlic bread (to the left) and a Kid's spaghetti with Alfredo sauce.

We've been here twice now and I really like this cute little Italian restaurant. It's just one big room, and you order at the counter, get yourself utensils napkins, bread and fountain soda and then sit down. They bring you your food shortly after. The food is really tasty. I got the cheese ravioli with Alfredo (garlic cream sauce) and it was delicious. I think there were 8-10 ravioli in my bowl, which I thought that was a good amount. They were soft and filled with tons of good cheese. The sauce was nice and thick and went well with the ravs. The one reason there's one star missing is both times we came, it seemed like something was missing or behind schedule in the self serve area, like the bread had ran out or there were no more utensils. We had to ask them to refill both of those and it's quite disruptive having to wait for a fork or when the kids are hungry and screaming for bread. I don't know how long those items were empty, but it seemed like a coincidence that both times we went this was the case, which led me to believe maybe it happens a lot. The other thing is it is a little on the expensive side for basically being self serve and also what you're getting I can't speak for the other menu items, only what I ordered. But would definitely come back for more!

I was in the mood for pasta and didn't want anything extravagant so this place popped up. I think I had visit one in the past. Walking in, you place your order at the counter and food will be brought to your table. There's a self serving bread and refreshment counter. Wait person was friendly. The chef delivered my spaghetti and meatball. He circled back later to check my food. With spaghetti and meatball, it's a simple dish and it fit the bill. I might return to try their Mac and cheese.

5 star experience without any doubt…read more It started with Eros Ramazzotti music as I walked in. I thought - the music is definitely authentic Italian. I saw a "pasta lab" sign and thought - that may or may not be authentic, never heard of that before. When my fettuccini pasta arrived I thought - it definitely looks authentic - heathy yellow pasta color. The first bite was an official confirmation that their pasta is freshly made, the sauce was amazing and the Parmesan was top-notch. This restaurant does not try to cut corners on lower quality inexpensive ingredients. This was one of the best fettuccini plates I had in SF. The only regret? I ate too quickly because I was on a rush. I wish I had more time to savor the flavors. Highly recommended and I will be running (not walking) back.

When the dish landed, I was initially impressed. But after the first bite, it felt a bit like the Wizard of Oz: impressive presentation hiding something less substantial underneath. Their lasagna is a sort of deconstructionist take on the classic dish. The noodles are cooked and layered almost naked between barely any pockets of filling. There were a few tidbits of meat, maybe sauce and no cheese within the layers themselves. The noodles are then baked, cut, plated, and topped with what I'd guess was about a 6 oz ladle of their bolognese, finished with finely pre-grated parmesan. The first bite was overwhelmingly pasta-forward. It took me a moment to understand how the dish had been assembled against my expectations. Once I cut into it and spread everything out, it became clear this wasn't the kind of lasagna I think of when ordering lasagna. It didn't check the familiar boxes - a rich ragù, maybe a creamy béchamel, or the sharp, salty depth of cheeses layered throughout. The dish lacked the complexity and savory comfort I was craving and expecting. Another miss was the homemade flatbread (which I went back and paid cash for, so it wasn't included in the total). Traditional Italian flatbread is a yeast-free bread made with flour, olive oil or lard, salt, and water or milk, then rolled thin and cooked until crisp yet chewy. This version tasted like flour, lard, and water. It wasn't crisp or chewy. As soon as I started chewing, it turned into an unappetizing doughy mass in my mouth. After the first quarter-piece, I didn't eat anymore. As for everything else, I arrived around 7:15 on a Saturday night, and the inside was packed with a small line to the door. The outdoor tables weren't full, but it was summer in San Francisco, more people were jockeying for seats inside than out. But I wasn't too concerned and I got there around 7, so all that is on me. There were a few specials written on a chalkboard, and the cashier was awesome while explaining those. They were incredibly patient. I apologized for holding up the line, and in a very Italian way, they assured me it was my right to make sure I ordered exactly what I wanted. That interaction honestly stood out as one of the better parts of the experience. I grabbed a table just as one opened up, helped myself to water a few times from the station, and my food arrived in about 20 minutes which wasn't bad considering how busy they were. There's been a bit of internal conflict with this review. I usually don't like judging a restaurant based on a single dish, especially a restaurant with so many positive reviews. But I also don't spend as much time in that part of the city anymore, and there are simply too many other places I still want to try. Unfortunately, while there was some good-looking food on other tables, if a restaurant's claim of lasagna as its signature dish doesn't hold up, the first visit just didn't do enough to pull me back for a second chance.
