In a word? Bland. Almost like the kitchen was allergic to any form of salt or seasoning whatsoever. Minestrone soup tasted like used water drained from the dishwasher. Fettuccine Alfredo with mushrooms had absolutely zero flavor, could've been eating anything. Now I upstand why they have so many deals throughout the day because even at those cut prices the food is nowhere near the money. I pity the people who pay full price for anything here. I won't give them one star because my server was super friendly and attentive. Problem clearly resides in the back of the house, not the front. Lesson learned, Strizzi's is a HARD pass for me. read more

15 years ago I gave this place a great rating, but I'm afraid there are serious issues now. The Wife and I went to an early dinner on a Thursday. We both chose to get the free salad special with our entrees. She got the Fuji apple salad, which was fine. The waiter asked if she really wanted the goat cheese, since many of his customers substitute Parmesan. Really? I got the Caesar salad, which was pretty bleak. The palest lettuce I've seen in a while. A neighboring table also ordered that, and somebody came by to offer fresh ground pepper to her. I guess they forgot me. I would have liked to order a chianti or montepulciano, but they don't carry Italian red wine, which I thought was weird. I wanted the scallops, described as "in a white wine, lemon, and caper sauce and served with Rigatoni Alfredo." I asked about substiting linguine for the rigatoni, but they don't have any, so the waited suggest spaghetti. Ok. The Wife ordered grilled salmon. Imagine my surprise when my plate comes out with spaghetti and a big old meatball and meat sauce next to my entree. Why did they change the sauce? And I don't eat meat! I asked him to take it back. He returned a couple minutes later with the same plate, but it had spaghetti with marinara only. They just shoved off the meat sauce noodles and plopped in the new ones on the same plate. We tried to explain to our young waiter why this was unacceptable, and he just didn't understand. Thank goodness this wasn't a food allergy issue! How does he deal with that? The scallops were chewy, the vegetables were tough and flavorless. They have a lot of work to do, considering that Doppio is coming to Livermore very soon. read more

We went here before a show at the Bankhead theater on the Friday before Valentine's day. I had high hopes for this restaurant based on other reviews but sadly, I was underwhelmed. We ordered the chicken alfredo and the lasagna and it seemed to have been over cooked, both entrées tasted ok. The best part of the meal was the dessert that we ordered from the Valentine's week menu, the Italian lemon cream cake. They seemed to be under staffed as our server seemed overwhelmed. Ambiance: very local and historic vibe. Warning: think twice about wearing favorite shirts here because the smoke just doesn't go away after two days... They really need to fix something here to air the restaurant better. Food: overall is nice; the meatball sauce is perfect but the meatball texture is not meaty and feels like too much starch is added like those cheap ones. The pasta texture is good and we loved the lasagna and could be better if we can actually taste more of the tomato. Both pasta was the combo set, and the portion is good and we get to try the clam chooser and salad at the same time, which are both good. As soon as we entered the establishment we were met with an intense smokey smell. It smelled as if we were at a campfire. The smell stuck to my clothes even after leaving. We waited around to be seated although we had a reservation for 6pm. Our waiter offered us waters and then proceeded to disappear for about 10-15 minutes. We were ready to order and couldn't find him. When he finally arrived he repeated our order of calamari to us about 3 times, only to not put the order in at all. We all received our meals but by the time we all had our entrees, we asked about the status of our calamari order and he said he would go check on that. He did end up bringing it out once we were basically done eating and was nice enough to comp that of our bill. Overall the food itself was not good, I ordered the grilled salmon with mashed potatoes and grilled vegetables. It was bland and had no flavor whatsoever. Over the years, I've enjoyed many of their dishes, but the asiago ravioli in pesto cream sauce has always been one of my all-time favorites. I loved it so much that I even chose Strizzi's to cater my wedding two years ago. This past week, however, I returned after some time away and was shocked by how much the quality had declined. The asiago ravioli--once a standout--was one of the most disappointing pasta dishes I've ever had at any restaurant. The flavor had changed so drastically that my mom commented it tasted just like jarred creamy pesto sauce, which most would agree is not a compliment. Unfortunately, it wasn't just my dish. Repeated and asked kindly several Times for an order of spaghetti marinara with no meat for religious purpose . Still received the spaghetti with pork meat sauce . Did not review any utensils . When called back to let them know their mistake , the woman whom I placed the order with claimed it was another woman when clearly we had spoken 15 minutes prior . We haven't been to a Strizzi's since they were in San Leandro, forever ago. As we remember it, the food was not good, and we never returned because of it. That restaurant is long gone. Fast forward to today when our friend, Joy, had her 24th b'day party at Strizzis. Hey, we're always down for free food...er...I mean celebrate with our friends... The weather was great. The vibe was good. There was a really cool boombox that someone had brought and Joy had connected her iphone via bluetooth and playing some old school music. The event was held outdoors and people just mixed and mingled. All of the food was self-service, buffet style. There was plenty of Ice, Water, Iced Tea, Lemonade, and Cola available to drink. There was a Caesar Salad and Fuji Apple Walnut Salad. There were three different pastas to choose from. I stuck with the Chicken Pesto with Pine Nuts and that was delicious. I would have to say that Strizzi's did a great job with this meal for a crowd. I can't say that I would necessarily return for dinner for two but I certainly would keep them in mind if I were to host a similar sized group meal. read more

Absolutely delicious food and perfectly authentically Italian. I visited Italy this summer in July, several cities, and the sauces and preparation of the pastas here are spot on. Our server, Jacob, is a true gem! Very professional, extremely friendly and helpful with recommendations, which also were, delicious! Do not leave without having the bread pudding. I would like to start off saying that this review is for the catering side of the restaurant. We had hired this company to provide service for a car club anniversary event that we held in Oakley over the weekend of June 21st. With months of emails and pricing and menu changes =, many many emails calls and text to make sure that the event went off with out a hitch, let me just say that the servers that came that evening made it happen. There was a little hiccup at the beginning but it was all worked out before it was even time to serve. The two servers Cameron and Terry were beyond amazing and fed 300 people in under an hour. They made our anniversary event HAPPEN. They were professional and respectful. Our car club is a world wide car club, and that night there were over 29 chapters that came to support our 5 year event. I could not recommend them more ! If you use their service please ask for Cameron and Terry to provide and serve. read more

I've got a large catering ones from the spot and been here twice for drinks and appetizers. I'm not a huge fan of Italian food. I only went because my friends wanted to and catered from them because it was my buddy's birthday and he loves Italian food. I only gave it. A four star rating is because I'm not a huge fan of Italian food but every time the service was phenomenal. Ambience is super cool and even though I don't like Italian food, it was high-quality fresh and hot. Try it out especially if you love Italian food. We went for Valentine's weekend. The servers were friendly, the appetizer and dessert came very hot but the main course took a long time and was barely a little warm when they arrived. The clam chowder as an appetizer was tasty but maybe a little lacking in the clam department. The crab and shrimp risotto had a good taste but the texture was not like risotto, it was more like soggy rice. The crab and shrimp parts were nicely cooked but almost cold. We also got the seafood Alfredo which had a good taste also but was almost cold as well. The shrimp and scallops were cooked nicely and would have been more enjoyable had they been hot. I went to Strizzi's Livermore for the first time after planning to go for a while. I wasn't sure if they had good gluten free food, but it surpassed my expectations. The manager was very nice and friendly, and personally checked on me. The food came out quickly and was hot. The chicken was tender and the pasta was good (which can be difficult for gluten free!). I also had a white chocolate gelato (no biscotti for gluten free) and it was so creamy and delicious! I enjoyed the setup/layout of the restaurant and being able to see into the kitchen. read more

We ordered Strizzi's last night via DoorDash. Three of us ordered the rigatoni bolognese, I've included a photo of what we ordered, on the left is what was shown on the menu and on the right is what we received. The portions were incredibly small, the pasta was overcooked and mushy. The sauce was thin and there were two small morsels of meat, this is not a bolognese sauce. There was also ricotta cheese in the photo and none on what we received. 1/3 orders substituted to a different type of pasta which was also ignored as we all received the same sub par rigatoni. I've been eating at Strizzi's for over 20 years, the quality has clearly gone downhill because this is not a pasta dish worth $29 before tax. When I called Strizzi's and sent photos of what we received they stood firmly by the fact that this is their standard quality and nothing was wrong with the meal. It's disappointing that Strizzi's somehow thinks this is acceptable quality when dining out at a mid- priced restaurant. read more

Ordered Togo today haven't been in over 12 years and by the time my parents brought the food back it was surprisingly still warm after a 35 minute drive. I ordered Bruschetta and cheesy garlic bread for our appetizers. The Bruschetta was delicious. The cheesy garlic bread was okay. For our main course we ordered Cajun Chicken Fettucine, Chicken Penne Pesto, and Chicken Fettucine Alfredo. The Cajun Chicken Fettucine was mediocre the sauce wasn't as thick as it should've been not enough Cajun flavor coming through the dish. The Chicken Penne Pesto was decent. The Chicken Fettucine Alfredo was a bit dry maybe some more sauce would've helped. None of us enjoyed the chicken. It was almost like they used a plain rotisserie chicken and it had no seasoning at all. I'm used to having the chicken grilled or seared and cut up into smaller pieces and seasoned well. Our overall wait time was approximately 15 minutes, and punctuated with frequent visitations by our waiter to check if we would like any more complimentary bread! It didn't really offer any unique design features, and clearly played it safe when it came to design decisions. Seating: seating felt a little cramped. If you got placed at a table along the walls, you might find that you frequently bump elbows against the person next to you at the same table Food: the taste of the food was quite average! It really was a hit or miss. The fettuccine Alfredo was incredibly plain and flavorless, whereas the risotto dishes were much better. Again, nothing memorable. The risotto, although cooked with mushrooms and prepared with a semi-creamy texture, felt at times to inherit the qualities of simple brown rice than the richness of a typical risotto. Wait staff: SUPER pleasant and attentive! They frequently came to our table to make sure we were well accommodated, but not so frequent where it was disruptive. Well mannered and professional, but personable when appropriate. They did a great job hiring their staff Cleanliness: they had a hand sanitizer dispenser right at the front door. The surface of the tables were properly cleaned, but I couldn't help but notice lots of food scraps on the floor. Summary + recommendations: be more ambitious with your food! Had dinner there last night ( Christmas Eve) at 5:15. I ordered Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo which a came out room temperature. I sent it back, which I rarely do, and it came back with a lot of sauce which I guess was added to warm it up (which didn't work). Additionally, the chicken was so thin it looked like it had been put through a meat slicer. After a few bites I decided to take the rest home to see if we could fix it. My wife ordered penne pasta bolognese which was also a surprise. There was very little sausage and the peppers were so small they must have been diced. It also came out cool. She suggested adding some vegetables and sausage when it went back for reheating and she got the vegetables but no more sausage. She is a retired nurse and the children are delightful: sweet, intelligent and adorable, but it seems ignoring them completely was because they are BLACK. The manager had to wait their table. This is my third time trying Strizzi's so I feel I've given them the benefit of the doubt. In the end, their pasta dishes aren't any better than Rigatoni's at double the price. Especially now that they've eliminated their lunch menu. Their shine through dish is the lobster bisque with fresh focaccia bread and real butter. Our server was brisk as in not friendly at all, so much so that my coworker refused to leave a tip. He was efficient and checked in a couple of times and would've been perfect at a Chinese restaurant but not at an Italian Restaurant. We'll probably go back for the all you can eat soup & pasta on Tuesdays for $13.95 because that lobster bisque is YUMMERS! read more
