Tagliatelle Bolognese
Julia L.

Really yummy pasta with great flavor, and unlike other Italian restaurants, I didn't think the bolognese was too salty. This is my new favorite local spot for pasta!

Manhattan Chowder - a bit starchy/thick but not bad.
D.wight L.

Found this old school Italian resto a while back. Been in twice within a years period and will include this when searching/craving sit-down old school Italian. Very homey like going to your Nonna's house. There's even an armoire in the dining room that totally gave me the feels, since all my grandmas are no longer around. This also isn't the hip lighter style of Italian like A16 or most places in SF these days. This is heavier and more hearty type of Italian, like you'd see in the Godfather. Lol Cup of Manhattan chowder ($8ish/3*) I usually love red chowders, but this was way too thick for me. And the tomato flavor gets lost when it is that thick. But good chunks of potato and clams. Fried Raviolis ($12/4*) I think I've only had fried ravs once, so I had to revisit. I liked it. There's like a dusting of bread crumbs and the pasta is both chewy and crisp. The filling is just ricotta but goes so well with the requisite marinara that is on the side. I don't drown my bites usually, but I seriously slather this tomato sauce on each rav. And with sips of red wine, some chewy bread, I'm off to that old school Italian appetite that only a grandma could appreciate. Carafe of Chianti ($27/4*) I'm sure this is just jug wine, but more times than not a good fruity red wine is all I need with a rich meal. It was good enough for past generations, and it'll work for me too. The kicker here is that they serve it in this nicely painted ceramic pitcher that makes me feel like I'm in the countryside of Tuscany. This size is equivalent to a bottle so plenty for 2. Hanger Steak ($35ish/4*) This was on specials the first time I came here. It was a decent steak that was already sliced up. I remember killing it as we had just golfed, so can't really recall a sauce. I remember it came with a side of spaghetti in red sauce, but I'm sure you can get a potato side if you want. But how often can you get a slab of red meat with a pile of old school pasta, amirite?! Pour me another glass of wine from that pitcher, all over it. Lamb Loin Chops ($35/4*) This was on specials the most recent visit. First off it wasn't the rib chops that look like lollypops. These are the 'porterhouse' of the lamb so has more of bone to deal with. They were nice and thick and meaty, that a medium rare was easily achieved. The sauce was like a balsamic demi mix, which was just okay to me. I appreciated the fruity touch but was just too tart for me to wipe the plate clean. If I like a sauce, I will mop it up with bread or meat til it is clean. I left easily half the sauce. I like they do a seasonal veggie of the day and it is usually not just green beans or broccoli. My recent memory was chard cooked with chunks of butternut squash, which I enjoyed a lot. Went great with the mashed potatoes and the lamb. Warm Peach Cobbler ($11/3*) Ok I love a warm, cinnamon-y crisp layer with vanilla ice cream on top. That crust was more like a baked cookie type of crust versus the crumbly type with oats/nuts. It was decent with the ice cream. But the fruit filling was very small that it felt like over 50% of the cup was topping, and I just wanted more warm and tangy fruit element to balance things out. Service always great, I'm not a reg but I bet if I come in a few more times within a year, that they'd probably know my name. These aren't a bunch of college aged kids working for party/boba money. Lol So not as finesse driven but more hearty vibes. I know I have days when that calls me, and when those times come, I'll let De La Torre make the call.

Fettuccini Alfredo with "small shrimp"
Joe F.

The restaurant is small and cozy, and since we went during lunch, it was packed. My coworker and I asked our waiter for a recommendation that's something similar to fettuccine Alfredo. Instead of suggesting anything on the menu, he said they could make us fettuccine Alfredo "no problem." We asked to add shrimp and were given the choice between prawns or "smaller shrimp." We chose the smaller ones since the prawns looked massive in the Yelp photos. What we ended up with was basically fettuccine Alfredo soup with bay shrimp. I was too shy and embarrassed to ask for a different dish in front of my coworkers, so I tried to fix it myself by thickening the sauce myself with the extra parmesan on the table. I did my best without looking like I was trying to use the entire jar of parmesan. On the bright side, the Pomodoro Bruschetta, Milano Bruschetta and Calamari Fritti appetizers were great, and the chicken Marsala my coworkers ordered looked solid too. But lesson learned: definitely don't have them make you anything Alfredo with "smaller shrimp!"

Vivian L.

This was my first time here and the food was good, but service was mediocre. My friend got the tortelloni alla panna pasta and I got the Tagiatelle bolognese and it was yummy. The bread and the butter was good too. Once we were done eating, they cleared our plates so fast and even took the bread and butter away (when there was still 3 pieces left). Besides that, the ambiance was nice with booth seatings, darker lighting, and nice decor with the wines all around. There is a large parking lot outside connected to a Lucky's.

Eggplant in Carrozza
Ed L.

Was glad that we decided to try this Italian restaurant in the neighbourhood. Really enjoy the food and atmosphere this restaurant provides. The place is not very big and wasn't crowded when my family went; still the service was attentive and friendly. We ordered spaghetti with meatballs, the baked eggplant dish with polenta, pesto linguine, and the chicken Caesar salad. I really enjoyed the meatballs; it had great texture and still very juicy. The tomato sauce was very flavorful and fresh and paired well with the al dente noodles. The pesto sauce is light and has a delicate fragrance of herbs; with the freshly made pasta, every bite was satisfying! Chicken salad was also very tasty. Eggplant dish was probably our least favorite with the polenta a bit under seasoned. We were very full but we still ordered a couple of desserts to celebrate my daughter's birthday. The restaurant gave us a slice of chocolate cake in the house with a candle too! It was a very pleasant way to end the evening. Recommended if you haven't been here, especially to celebrate a special occasion!

This quaint little restaurant feels comfy and cozy. It's easy to relax here with the calming palette of colors and muted paintings of Italian style artwork. The welcoming staff also added to the comfortable ambiance and the menu variety had enough offerings to satisfy most customers. Our review is as follows: Pomodoro Bruschetta *** - I expected small crostini topped with our selection but it was a large slice of bread that was soggy with the ingredients Lasagne ***** - comfort food all the way! Bolognese ***** - delicious creamy tomato-based sauce. It was just enough that it left me begging for more

We ordered chicken masala and Mary's half chicken.. Food was amazing and perfectly seasoned.. Tried their famous toffee cake, but was not impressed, it felt like it was just taken out of freezer and not even properly thawed.. Service was decent..

Always a winner - delicious pasta, pizza, sides - good as a bonus round 2 meal! Easy parking. Great staff. Dine in or order out.

Pan - Roasted Chicken Breast

Italian spot for lunch in downtown Pleasanton. I can't hear during lunch with my coworkers and we lucked out with an open table. The restaurant itself is small so seating can be tight and limited if busy. The menu has options for everyone. I opted for the pan roasted chicken with spinach. It was not what I expected. I was a bit underwhelmed.the chicken was very bland with no flavor. Service was ok.

We started our meal with appetizers--Mama Carmela's Meatballs were three oversized meatballs in tomato sauce, topped with Parmesan and crostini (garlic toast); the Fritto Misto was a plate of lightly breaded Monterey calamari, tiger prawns, zucchini, and artichokes, served with a side of creamy capri sauce for dipping; and the Octopus All'insalata was a salad of lightly dressed arugula, olives, cherry tomatoes, and fennel, topped with tender pieces of octopus tentacle. The appetizers were decent, but the real highlight of this restaurant was their freshly-baked pizzas. The Amalfi was a light, summery combination of yellow San Marzano tomato sauce, fiori di latte, burrata, pesto, and red Sicilian Datterino tomatoes; and the Norcina was an aromatic, umami combination of truffle crema, fiori di latte, Italian sausage, and mushrooms. Both were absolutely delicious, and the best part was the authentic Neapolitan pizza crust--thin, light, and chewy all at the same time! Overall, this was a fantastic dining destination with quick, friendly service and a beautiful atmosphere too.

Great back patio, delicious menu…read more My husband and I popped by for a late lunch on a Friday, and their back patio was almost full. We ordered their Brusselsprouts and short rib sandwich to share and the proportions were perfect, just enough food and we didn't leave a morsel behind. Their short rib sandwich was heavenly and the chimichurri sauce plus grilled peppers elevated the experience. If you're torn about ordering a full shareable of the habanero fries, here's an insider tip: we asked for a side of their habanero sauce to go with our side of fries so we would still have enough room for their short rib sandwich! Their sprouts were phenomenal. Loved the sweat punch added by the cranberries and shaved carrots to balance the charr of the brussels. Will 1000% be returning to check out their dinner menu. When making the reservation, I specifically noted that this was a birthday celebration and selected covered outdoor patio seating through the reservation system. When we arrived on time, we were told there were no tables available in the area your reservation platform had offered us. To make matters worse, after a staff member asked us which available table we preferred, we pointed one out, only for another waiter to immediately give that exact table away to a smaller party while we stood there as a party of six. That set the tone for the evening. Service throughout the night lacked professionalism and hospitality. One male waiter, approximately in his 40s with slicked-back hair, was consistently rude, dismissive, sharp in tone, and visibly uninterested in helping our table. His behavior affected our entire party and made us feel unwelcome. Management should seriously address his service etiquette and overall conduct toward guests. The most disappointing part was the complete lack of acknowledgment of my wife's birthday. Throughout dinner, we watched several other tables celebrating birthdays receive desserts and recognition from staff, while our table received absolutely nothing despite the restaurant being informed ahead of time. At the end of dinner, we were simply handed the bill with no acknowledgment whatsoever. My wife even turned to me and asked, 'What about my birthday?' and honestly I had no answer for her. The evening felt careless, disorganized, and poorly managed. We did not receive the seating we reserved, experienced rude service, and the special occasion we communicated in advance was completely ignored. Overall, it was a poor dining experience and not somewhere I would currently recommend."

Perfect for a date night, especially when there is nice weather. The service stood out immediately as well; the servers were very attentive, present without being overbearing, and made the whole experience feel smooth and intentional. Tip: Make reservations! This place gets really busy, especially on special occasions. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed. The Valentine's Day decor was beautiful and really added to the romantic atmosphere. The staff was incredibly efficient and friendly, and our waiter Kevin was absolutely fantastic and gracious throughout the evening. Appetizers: We started with the Golden Beet Salad (with goat cheese, toasted almonds, and honey balsamic dressing) and the Crispy Sweet Chili Prawns. The prawns were amazing - they came with a Fiji apple coleslaw and pomegranate sauce, and the combination was simply heavenly! Entrees: The Lamb Rack came with four beautifully cooked lamb chops, mashed potatoes, spinach, and pomegranate sauce - really delicious. We also tried the Chicken Milano, which was incredible. The combination of artichoke, sun-dried tomato, asparagus, shallots, linguini, basil, garlic, parmesan, parsley, and white wine lemon sauce was perfection on a plate. Desserts: We couldn't resist ordering both the Molten Chocolate Cake with vanilla ice cream and the Warm Bread Pudding with ice cream. Both were fantastic and the perfect end to our meal. The vibe at Baci's is lively and festive - it can get loud, but that just adds to the fun atmosphere. If you're looking for a great place to celebrate with friends or that special someone, Baci's is definitely worth a visit. We'll be back!
