Locanda Amalfi has a warm, sunny atmosphere, and the food and service make you feel like you're in Italy! We started our meal with appetizers--Mama Carmela's Meatballs were three oversized meatballs in tomato sauce, topped with Parmesan and crostini (garlic toast); the Fritto Misto was a plate of lightly breaded Monterey calamari, tiger prawns, zucchini, and artichokes, served with a side of creamy capri sauce for dipping; and the Octopus All'insalata was a salad of lightly dressed arugula, olives, cherry tomatoes, and fennel, topped with tender pieces of octopus tentacle. The appetizers were decent, but the real highlight of this restaurant was their freshly-baked pizzas. The Amalfi was a light, summery combination of yellow San Marzano tomato sauce, fiori di latte, burrata, pesto, and red Sicilian Datterino tomatoes; and the Norcina was an aromatic, umami combination of truffle crema, fiori di latte, Italian sausage, and mushrooms. My first time here at Locanda - I came with a long time friend who'd recommended it (a former colleague whom shares my affinity for italian cuisine). My first impression was how lovely the decor was. The color pallet makes the restaurant so inviting and the addition of colorful tiles and plate settings add a sophisticated contrast. 10 out of 10 on the interior design! Such a cute restaurant and hidden gem in the downtown area of Pleasanton. I love the restaurant vibes and decorations to match Amalfi Coast, Italy. They offer very clean, simple, but delicious pastas and pizzas. Our orders always comes out fast and the workers are always so attentive and kind. Smack dab on Main Street, Pleasanton sits a quaint Italian (Napoli) restaurant with outdoor seating to enjoy some of the best weather in the world. We were promptly seated on a Sunday evening and served water. The menu had a decent selection with everything made in house. Both salads were flavorful and I have to say that I don't like beets, but these were well done. The bolognese wasn't as healthy as I expected but these noodles were amazingly well made and cooked. Went around 6:30 pm on a Tuesday and was pretty packed. They told us they couldn't seat us inside anymore until like another hour (there were tables open inside the entire time we were there) The server was excellent and the food came out SO fast. Like it was instant!! We got the calamari, marg pizza, and penne vodka pasta. The calamari was delicious but the mains felt short. The marg pizza was just okay. The sauce was delicious but I don't like soggy pizzas. The pasta I did some modifications- no cheese but subbed tomatoes and basil. The sauce was incredibly bland. I had to add salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, and even more salt before I actually tasted a bit of flavor which was disappointing. The dessert was the best part. True authentic Italian restaurant located in downtown Pleasanton. The restaurant ambiance is wonderful from the blue, yellow, and bright colors really make it feel as if you're in Amalfi. There's outside seating, inside seating and a small bar section seating. The food is fresh, you can tell they make the pizza dough and pasta from scratch. They make one of the best Caesar salads we've all ever tasted, the tiramisu had the perfect balance!, the kids plates were huge, my family also loved the eggplant Parmesan, and the gnocchi mamma Carmella Aka truffle gnocchi was top notch! Always a great time at Locanda. When they know who you are because you're a regular customer, they treat you like family. Even when I'm walking down the street, they will greet me and say hello. To celebrate my FIL's birthday, we decided on Locanda Amalfi in Pleasanton. Our reservation was for 7PM and we were seated immediately. This restaurant fired on all cylinders. From the straight forward menu, the cute atmosphere, great food and amazing service, our entire party was satisfied. For starters, we were treated to Foccacia bread with pesto. The warmth and lightness of this bread was very comforting. Add on the pesto sauce for that extra flavor kick. Our drinks and appetizers came out shortly after. I was really impressed with the speed of service. For such high quality food & beverages, the turn around time was quick! The special old-fashion that had a hint of coffee flavor was refreshing and unique. To put it bluntly, this was one of the best old-fashion's I've ever had! Water was continually being refilled by one of the staff members. My main course consisted of the beets salad with an add-on of grilled shrimp for protein. My waiter made this suggestion and I'm glad he did. It was delicious and fulfilling. The servings here are generous and plenty. Nobody left the restaurant hungry, I can tell you that much. The food shined but so did our waiter; very friendly, accommodating, generous and overall a pleasant individual to work with. The restaurant's ambiance was quite beautiful, so we decided to take a walk there. The service was excellent. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. And he checked on us regularly. For the dinner, butter lettuce salad and the gnocchi were both successful. However, I can't say the same for the short ribs. It was the driest and most flavorless short rib I've ever had. In fact, the meat looked and tasted more like beef shoulder than short rib. Located on Main Street, they have indoor and outdoor seating. The weather was beautiful so we sat outside on the patio. We started with a Margarita pizza for all of us to share. The crust was thin and had a hard time holding up to the toppings. We had the following items. Anti pasta plate Prosciutto , marinated artichoke hearts, bread sticks and buffalo mozzarella Spaghetti with clams. The pasta was way overcooked and the clams gritty. We came specifically to try the award-winning Margherita pizza, ranked #5 Neapolitan pizza in the world. It absolutely lived up to the hype. Its simplicity was its strength: the San Marzano tomato sauce was rich and flavorful, topped with creamy Fior di Latte cheese and fresh basil. The crust was perfectly baked with a crunch. I'd return just for this pizza alone. We also ordered the Locanda Salad, which might be one of the best salads I've ever had. Came here on a whim last Wednesday at around 1pm. Inside the restaurant was empty and it seemed like most folks opted to enjoy the good weather outside. Service was fast and friendly. My sister and I werent too hungry so we shared a pizza and a salad. The pizza was a delicious thin crust with proscuitto. I would come back for the pizza even though it was a little pricey. The caesar salad was drenched in dressing! It made the lettuce all soggy and was a little unpleasant to eat. They also only gave us 4 croutons which i thought was a little cheap but maybe i just like croutons! Overall, i would come back again to try more things on their menu. We had dinner for about 2hrs, the tables inside the restaurant were empty the whole 2 hrs we were there. ??????? Our actual server was nice. Helpful. Pleasant. Took our drink orders and appetizers. Meatballs were huge and tasty. The 2 piece of tiny bread? Not even close to being enough for the amount of meat balls they served. Ravioli I ordered was good. Pizza was good too. Dessert was happily recommended by our server so we ordered it. It didn't look well prepared. Maybe I'm too critical but for the amount it costs, I think it should be cleaner than the way it was played. It was good but not memorable in a good way. 1 star deducted for service from other servers. It wasn't that busy and 3 servers were standing almost infront of us just chatting away. We felt uncomfortable because it also seemed like they were listening to our conversation. We had to ask water refill at least 3x despite of them standing 3 ft away from us. One server poured water literally half of the glass and walked away. When we asked for more, she nodded her head and went around the patio with the pitcher. Took her 10mins to give us the remaining half glass of water. So. There you go. Every restaurant has a bad nights but we can't help that the bad service given to us was intentional. One of my favorite restaurants in DT Pleasanton. Locanda Amalfi could never fail me! Everything I've had here has been on point and their staff is warm and welcoming. We celebrated my best friend's birthday and they greeted us with a nice table outside. Everything came out quickly, everything was fire, including the drinks. Peep how aesthetically pleasing everything is! The inside dining is cute too, it's a little tight in there so I prefer eating outdoors especially when it's a warm day out. Great restaurant in downtown pleasanton. The decorations were subtle and simple but very inviting. They had alot of staff catering to all the needs of the guest. The waitstaff was very attentive and friendly. I must note that the kitchen does do a phenomenal job. The wait times for the food is minimal but in no way does that affect the flavor. That small kitchen was doing in-house order and alot of take away pizzas. My lamb was tender, medium and cooked to perfection. These guys aren't afraid of properly seasoning the food. My date had the Enzo,s branzino and it was equally delicious and I did steal a few bites from her plate. Good place good staff great location . It was around 7:30 pm on a Saturday and I asked if there was any possibility we could sit outside but they were completely full. The inside ambience was still nice because of the big windows and cute decor. Next level food and unforgettable service. We brought mom here for a celebratory dinner and were blown away by the quality! We started with a round of cocktails and the brussel sprouts to share. The brussel sprouts were perfectly prepared and slightly caramelized with diced bacon on top. We cleared the plate (and our beverages) and decided to order multiple entrees to share family style. In order of preference, I would rank out entrees as follows: Diaviolo pizza, Gnocchi Tartufo, and the Eggplant Parmesan. All were repeatable dishes, but the pizza fed my soul - a perfect Napolitano style crust with simple, but excellent ingredients. We finished the celebration with a tiramisu and a shots of a digestive. 10 out of 10 for food quality, portions and presentation! I have been wanting to try this place for a while as I have been to the one in Livermore and the drinks were great. The service was fine. We were sat right away and our order was taken quickly. Our server was ok wasn't unfriendly not friendly either if that makes sense. The lady serving us water and the buser were super friendly. The waiter seemed to be hanging out just leaning on the counter which is weird to do in plain sight in my opinion. It was quiet and started to get a little busier as the evening went on. I ordered the Alfredo which was such a small portion with hard flavorless pasta. Wouldn't recommend it. At 25 dollars plus additional service fees. My mom got the pizza it was good flavor. The moment she pulled a piece everything fell off of the pizza. Maybe it's way too much cheese for such a thin crust. Not sure. The peppers on the side were yummy very different to anything I've had but worked well. The spritzer was nice and refreshing. Overall I was not impressed and feel like the price isn't worth the amount of food or flavor which is a bummer since it's rated so high. read more

LOVE THIS PLACE. The interior design is so cute and the food here is AMAZING. We were seated right away with reservations and surprisingly the restaurant was PACKED entirely on a Wednesday night. Strange right? lol. We came during valentines week and it was decorated so cute with teddy bears and Valentine's Day balloons on the ceiling. Our servers were very fast and efficient not too chatty or friendly though. You can tell they get very busy here! lol. We ordered the Mediterranean Octopus as a starter and it was yummy! It was a bit tough but still had a nice taste if you add the sauce from the sides. Compared to other places I would rate it a 3/5. Good but not great. Sorry! lol. The absolute STAR of the show was the Lamb Chops. OH MY GOODNESS I was in absolute love! lol. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the chimichurri gave it a delectable flavor. I absolutely loved the veggies that they paired with it. #OBSESSED. Can I order just the veggies alone too? Because my goodness! lol. I'm not kidding. I absolutely LOVE it. We also got the Ragu Genovese pasta and it was great! It was so meaty and hearty. Also it was a very good portion size, there was sooo much to take home. lol. A couple things that could be improved is the two top table is TINY. There's hardly any room for appetizers, the center candle + flower, drinks, and food. We would've ordered more appetizers but we were squished. lol. Another thing, a smiling and/or welcoming server would have been nice. I understand "being friendly" isn't required but it would've been a nice touch to the experience. However I will say we ended up staying until closing (Sorry! Politeness foul lol.) and they never rushed us which is nice. We lost track of time and there was like 10+ people just hanging out when we left like the restaurant wasn't closed already... lol. I had a chance to try Locanda Amalfi on a double date in downtown Pleasanton and this was a great experience! This is a cute Italian spot with good service and food of course. If you are looking for pasta, pizzas and an assortment of Italian delicacies this is a nice spot. For food we tried: * Foccacia bread with pesto - this was delicious, bread was yummy and went well with the sauce * truffle arancini: this was very yummy and came with a delicious truffle sauce. The arancini balls were nice and crispy with a cheesy tomatoey filling I really enjoyed * truffle gnocchi: this was yummy and soft and the truffle sauce was same as the arancini one - so pretty good and creamy. However, I liked it with the arancini more! * Pizza (got the one with prosciutto): this was pretty yummy and the husband really enjoyed this. ** DRINKS ONLY ** Martini Monday... My friend and I decided to end 2024 with a martini lunch in Pleasanton, specifically an espresso martini lunch. We checked out the Yelp reviews to narrow down our choices to three spots: Amalfi; Elia; and, Lokanta. Almafi was our first stop. The interior is nicely decorated and the place had a nice lunch crowd. We grabbed two seats at the (very small) bar and were greeted quickly. Our drinks came out a couple minutes later. The presentation was solid. A portion of the rim is dipped in chocolate and then pistachio. A nice surprise if you aren't allergic to either (it didn't state those items on the menu). There were 3 espresso beans, the only acceptable amount. The presentation definitely got us excited before we even tried it. The taste was on point, absolutely delicious. They pulled a fresh shot of espresso and added some baileys, which is not a traditional espresso martini. The baileys added a nice level of sweetness without a strong baileys flavor. Verdict: While the chocolate & pistachio rimmed glass and the baileys were not what we expected, this was definitely our top pick for the day. We kept comparing the others to it and it hours later it was still our top pick. We'll be back for more, two rounds next time read more

I'm going to cut to the chase regarding why I'm giving a 3 star review instead of 5... the food here is excellent and the ambiance is even better (you feel like you're transported to Italy!). Unfortunately, the last time I was here (Friday, Nov. 14) I was with a friend who has a SERIOUS sunflower seed allergy. We ordered the beet salad. He asked our server if there were seeds on the salad (and pointed out it didn't say there were on the menu); He made it clear he's allergic (this is not just a preference). Our server said without a doubt there aren't sunflower seeds on that salad. Sure enough, it was brought to us covered in sunflower seeds (we obviously asked for it to be remade). I have a few issues with this: 1. A server should be familiar with the menu 2. If he/she is unsure, he should ask! Especially if it has to do with an allergy! 3. If someone at his table has an allergy, the server should take the care to bring the food to the table himself (or at least look at it before the food runner brings it). The food was being prepared less than 10ft away from where we were seated for goodness sakes! In this case, the sunflower seeds were easy to spot and avoid. But that's not always the case (for example, seed oil). And this could be lethal! Restaurant staff has to take allergies seriously! I know Locanda Amalfi can do a LOT better. read more
