This place is pretty cute inside and out, wish I would have liked it more though! Our waiter was not super friendly. Not rude either, but wasn't a happy and welcoming experience. The front host staff was friendly though which was nice. The restaurant itself was freezing inside! My wife politely asked our waiter if they could reduce the AC level and the waiter kind of said he'd look into it but nothing came of that/he ignored it. It was literally freezing in there and I was wearing a jacket! Not a comfortable experience. The Penne alla vodka pasta was pretty mid. They for some reason served it on a wide plate which made it cool a lot faster. It was at no point "hot." The pasta itself was cooked well enough, but the sauce and cheese was nothing special, pretty basic. The salad was also mid. The beets seemed like they were canned and the salad was pretty drenched in a basic dressing. The pizzas overall were better than the salad and pastas, although the Diavola pizza's meat was too acidic and bitter. The pizza Amalfi was a better pizza, had a good balance. Good food and service, in a pleasant European summer ambience made this a great experience for us. We got here for a late lunch on a Sunday and the restaurant was buzzing with a lively vibe and happy patrons enjoying the weather and the food. We ordered the lobster ravioli and the San Daniele pizza and enjoyed both dishes. The pizza is Neapolitan style with a nice chewy crust and the toppings were well balanced with the San daniele tomato sauce, arugula, prosciutto and Parmesan. Although I went here for the 1st time a few weeks ago, I came back here again for my parents anniversary dinner. We started off a fritto misto and zucchini flower (the name on the menu I am forgetting). The fritto was fine, but would have been better with a different sauce. The zucchini flower was amazing, I would go back just for that. For dinner, I ordered the brasato. The meat was perfectly cooked and practically well apart. It paired perfectly with the palenta. Went around 6:30 pm on a Tuesday and was pretty packed. They told us they couldn't seat us inside anymore until like another hour (there were tables open inside the entire time we were there) The server was excellent and the food came out SO fast. Like it was instant!! We got the calamari, marg pizza, and penne vodka pasta. The calamari was delicious but the mains felt short. The marg pizza was just okay. The sauce was delicious but I don't like soggy pizzas. The pasta I did some modifications- no cheese but subbed tomatoes and basil. The sauce was incredibly bland. I had to add salt, pepper, red pepper flakes, and even more salt before I actually tasted a bit of flavor which was disappointing. The dessert was the best part. Such a cute restaurant and hidden gem in the downtown area of Pleasanton. I love the restaurant vibes and decorations to match Amalfi Coast, Italy. They offer very clean, simple, but delicious pastas and pizzas. Our orders always comes out fast and the workers are always so attentive and kind. To celebrate my FIL's birthday, we decided on Locanda Amalfi in Pleasanton. Our reservation was for 7PM and we were seated immediately. This restaurant fired on all cylinders. From the straight forward menu, the cute atmosphere, great food and amazing service, our entire party was satisfied. For starters, we were treated to Foccacia bread with pesto. The warmth and lightness of this bread was very comforting. Add on the pesto sauce for that extra flavor kick. Our drinks and appetizers came out shortly after. I was really impressed with the speed of service. For such high quality food & beverages, the turn around time was quick! The special old-fashion that had a hint of coffee flavor was refreshing and unique. To put it bluntly, this was one of the best old-fashion's I've ever had! Water was continually being refilled by one of the staff members. My main course consisted of the beets salad with an add-on of grilled shrimp for protein. My waiter made this suggestion and I'm glad he did. It was delicious and fulfilling. The servings here are generous and plenty. Nobody left the restaurant hungry, I can tell you that much. The food shined but so did our waiter; very friendly, accommodating, generous and overall a pleasant individual to work with. We came specifically to try the award-winning Margherita pizza, ranked #5 Neapolitan pizza in the world. It absolutely lived up to the hype. Its simplicity was its strength: the San Marzano tomato sauce was rich and flavorful, topped with creamy Fior di Latte cheese and fresh basil. The crust was perfectly baked with a crunch. I'd return just for this pizza alone. We also ordered the Locanda Salad, which might be one of the best salads I've ever had. The base of crisp butter leaf lettuce was complemented by artichokes, watermelon radish, Marcona almonds, goat cheese, and a light vinaigrette. The crust was thin and had a hard time holding up to the toppings. We had the following items. My sister and I werent too hungry so we shared a pizza and a salad. The pizza was a delicious thin crust with proscuitto. I would come back for the pizza even though it was a little pricey. The caesar salad was drenched in dressing! It made the lettuce all soggy and was a little unpleasant to eat. The waitstaff was very attentive and friendly. I must note that the kitchen does do a phenomenal job. The wait times for the food is minimal but in no way does that affect the flavor. That small kitchen was doing in-house order and alot of take away pizzas. My lamb was tender, medium and cooked to perfection. These guys aren't afraid of properly seasoning the food. Disappointing experience. We dined outside under their awning. It was extremely hot and had no fans. The flies were a massive issue and made the experience really unpleasant. When I said to the manager that they needed some fans under the patio for the flies he said "what do you want me to do about it? It's the outdoors." It was particularly frustrating because we were there as a party of 7, reservations made a week in advance, celebrating a graduation. We all just wanted to rush through to get away from the flies.
