We love going to Zachary's to get our pizza fix! We typically will get a Caesar salad & a thin pizza; honestly any flavor for this crust is amazing. Our recent favorite has been the new special: Sweet Heat which has pepperoni, ricotta, red pepper flakes, mozzarella, fresh basil & a drizzle of honey. This was my first time trying Zachary's Pizza after wanting to try it for so long! We ordered a small spinach & mushroom stuffed pizza and a medium thin chicken special. The pizzas do take a while to come out, but the staff lets you know. The chicken special came out first and tasted great. The ingredients were underneath the cheese, which was different, and the crust wasn't super thin, more like a regular thickness. Then the spinach & mushroom stuffed pizza came out and it was also great. It was filled with ingredients and lots of cheese, with sauce on top. Even one slice was really filling! Our server served us the first slice of both pizzas, which was nice. Everything tasted super fresh and came out hot. The service was nice but a little slow. We ended up packing some slices since the pizza was pretty heavy, and our server offered to pack them for us and brought back a bag. They wrapped both slices individually in foil, which was unexpected since we were expecting a box like some of the other tables had. We were seated immediately it took about 20 minutes for the pizza to come out Wait staff was very courteous and attentive. The ambience was clean and open. There's outside seating for those warm days, we ordered the pepperoni, mushroom, olive onion, and jalapeño with extra cheese stuffed crust. pizza what arrived was jalapeño, olive and extra cheese. This was our first time having Chicago deep dish style pizza in so long. We've always heard such rave reviews about Zachary's. The parking in the back is plenty and close to the restaurant. We were seated quickly and order taken. We knew based on the menu that the deep dish would take longer to make. We had the caesar salad and it was refreshing and the shredded cheese was delicious. For the pizza, we ordered half of spinach and mushroom and half of Zachary's special. The first pull of the slice had that gooey cheese, which was awesome. I love Zachary's. But the last time I ordered was via DoorDash. I ordered 1/2 cheese, 1/2 custom toppings; the custom toppings half was correct, but the cheese 1/2 had onions, mushrooms, and green peppers. Tried that evening and the next morning to do the DoorDash 'help', but the form wouldn't get past the screen after adding photos. The following evening I was finally able to, but the 24 hour window had passed. 4+ The Pleasanton location of the regional chain of Chicago style pizzas. Having roots and living in the East Bay for a long time. I've been to a few of their locations now. This was my first visit at this location. These days when we order a pizza here, I mostly eat one slice in a sitting. These are thick. It's like a pizza casserole if you're familiar with Chicago style pizza. We also ordered some wings here as well that were good. When we went to go pick up the order, parking was easy of find in the downtown Pleasanton area or the lot behind. The space is pretty large with a dining area and a bar area where a game was on the television at the time. While waiting for the food, my brother and I got a couple of beers. The people here friendly in this place, definitely has that communal vibe that you find in neighborhood spots. The entrance to Zachary's can be confusing since the double door entrance is hidden out of view, on the side of the building. If you are on the main street, the entrance is on the left side of the building (left side of the Zachary sign on the building). Just follow the path. This location has a patio, great for warm days, or simply for enjoying the view of the busy street. The staff was so friendly and attentive. Even though we were outside, the staff did a wonderful job checking in on us, offering refills of our beverages and water while l ensuring we were doing well and taken care of (Shout out to Izzy and crew!) This is an amazing place! Came here for a farewell lunch for 30 people recently and everyone raved about the food and experience. The stuffed pizzas were delicious, we ordered 5 large ones for us to share and it was just enough for all of us as we were mostly small eaters. Asked the kitchen to cut them into 12s so everyone could taste as many different types as possible. We also ordered 4 entree salads and 3 roasted cauliflowers, all excellent. I called the day before and the manager specifically made sure that he shifted workers around to cater to us. They set up the middle room for us and it was just perfect, cozy and intimate. We also preordered the food ahead of time so they could get ready when we arrived. We still ended up waiting a little but it would've been a longer wait if we hadn't ordered ahead. Shout out to our waiter Lucy, who took care of all of us beautifully. As for which pizza was our favorite, many of us said it was the spinach and mushroom, but some of us also loved the chicken and artichoke stuffed pizza that we special ordered. I loved the experience so much that I came back to take out a half baked pizza for a friend in Napa over the weekend. Afterward we were really hungry and decided that the best way to rectify the problem was to head to Zachary's for some of their exceptional pizza :-) Years ago, I paid my 1st visit to Zachary's (at a different location); ever since, the quality of their pies has been ballooning in my memory. I found myself wanting to return there for a 2nd visit, and found it wasn't at all difficult to convince my friend to join me. Long story short - I was delighted to discover that the pizza at Zachary's was every bit as good as I remembered - maybe even better! When we arrived at Zachary's, the sights and smells of their pizza reminded me in the best way possible that we were about to enjoy a Chicago-style pie like virtually no other in NorCal. The crust is almost like a pie crust that's stuffed (rather than topped) with the toppings you choose. The crust's quality is exceptional, and it's cooked to perfection. The sauce takes things to an even higher level, with the pizza bursting into a taste explosion of well-seasoned deliciousness. Tip: While the quality of the food here is through the roof, the prices unfortunately are not for the faint of heart. That said, you'll find the pizza so filling that you don't need to worry about the prices - even the hungriest guest will find that after one or two slices they are totally full :-) That afternoon we opted for a medium stuffed-crust pie with fresh garlic, sausage, pepperoni, and mushrooms. We really enjoyed this place! It was abit confusing to get to the main door at first, we had to walk down the alley. There was no entrace from the main street. Once inside we were greeted warmly and quickly seated. The staff was friendly for a busy day. The art on the walls were really cool and lending itself to laid back atompshere. There is outdoor seating and ample indoor seating too. We decided to order the pepperoni deep dish. We were not disappointed. It takes about 35 mins to come out, but that was to be expected. But one day I was eating some meatballs (the only dish I enjoy there) and BRO there was paper in it! And that not only happened once but TWICE! A friend recommended this place, and it was my first time trying Chicago-style pizza. The crust is super thick, with cheese in the middle and sauce on top--it's very saucy and filling, so even one slice was enough. Personally, I found the sauce a bit too salty for my taste, and I wasn't a big fan of the overall texture. However, the Caesar salad and the baked BBQ chicken wings were excellent. One thing that stood out (not necessarily in a good way): the manager told us they accidentally dropped one chicken wing. I came with a party of 10.5, .5 was our niece and had preordered a large thin pizza Blanca, large stuffed Zachary's special and a small thin cheese pizza. With the Blanca, definitely squeeze the lemon wedge over the pizza before devouring! The cheese pizza was a hit with our nephew. We could've ordered another Blanca instead of the special. There were large chunks of bell peppers and onions under the red sauce that could've been sliced thinner. We had this boxed with over half remaining. In addition to the pizzas, we also added roasted cauliflower, wings, and the meatballs. Both their Buffalo and BBQ wings were fully sauced. Maybe instead of their ranch, will consider asking for more of the applicable sauce. Meatballs were drowned in what appeared and tasted like the same red sauce in the special pizza.. Which now makes sense because both have Zachary in their menu name. These were also boxed up. Roasted cauliflower was well seasoned and a good balance between all the red sauce. Our original server clocked out and a new server took over- that's the story the gentleman/new server shared with us. Awkward. So when Pleasanton got its own Zachary's back 2021, I finally made the time to check it out. The crust was buttery and crisp. The filling of Italian sausage, pepperoni, salami, chopped bacon and mozzarella hit me like a familiar warm hug.  Same rich, cheesy, meat-loaded masterpiece as I remembered.  Cozy vibe, friendly crew, and easier parking than Berkeley.Also, they have 6 or 8 designated take out parking spots in the rear parking lot. 15 min max. Going into my first visit to Zachary's, I'd always heard nothing but great things--which had me ready to channel my inner Plankton and uncover their so-called secret formula. This was also my first time ever trying deep-dish pizza, so expectations were definitely high. If you're planning to order a pizza here, be prepared to wait. And I mean wait. SpongeBob's "12 hours later" felt extremely accurate. Unfortunately, the pizza itself didn't quite live up to the hype for me. I found the deep dish to be overwhelmed by sauce, with a red sauce that leaned heavily acidic and overpowered the rest of the flavors. There wasn't enough cheese to balance it out, which was disappointing. The crust was fine--nothing bad, nothing particularly memorable. For what it is, Zachary's just wasn't my cup of tea, and I don't see myself coming back. The Big Deep Locally-run small chain of Chicago-style Pizzerias in the East Bay, that began in 1983 at a 900sq-ft hole-in-the-wall in Oakland, and has now expanded to five locations. The business was sold back in 2003 by the original owners to non other than their own employees, making them 100% employee-owned like SJ's A Slice of New York Pizza. The deep dish is so good, its no wonder Dave Portnoy reviewed the Zacharys in Oakland the highest ranked pizza in the Bay. The price is super reasonable, you'll walk out of there at the same or less you would Round Table and with way better pizza. I'm extremely disappointed with the treatment I received today. I came in with my trained service dog, and instead of being welcomed like any other customer, I was met with disrespect and discrimination from an employee named Andrew. From the moment we arrived, Andrew told me that my service dog "couldn't sit on my lap," which was already confusing and unnecessary the dog never touched the table, but then he went even further and asked me why I even have a service dog and that he wouldn't bring my pizza out until he was on the floor, I even went as far as saying "I'll put the dog away once you bring the pizza and told me he would not bring the pizza until he was away. This is not only rude, it is illegal to ask. His tone, attitude, and overall behavior made me feel emotionally attacked, embarrassed, and singled out for no reason. Instead of understanding or following the law, he made it clear that they are not animal-friendly, and insisted that I leave or take my dog "somewhere else," even though service dogs are fully allowed in public businesses. The way he spoke to me made me feel like I was being kicked out for having a disability accommodation. Absolutely unacceptable. No customer should ever be treated this way, especially someone with a service animal. This experience was hurtful, discriminatory, and showed a complete lack of training and compassion. I truly hope management takes this seriously and educates their staff, because what happened today was not okay. read more

Haven't been to Chicago so I'm no expert but the deep dish pies we had - Zachary's Special & BBQ chicken were bursting with flavor! It is sooo good! The crust was crunchy & held the ingredients in place. The BBQ sauce was sweet & tangy. We chose the cauliflower appetizer over a salad & it was perfect! The menu clearly stated that a stuffed pizza takes 20-30 mins so we knew we had to wait. It definitely was worth waiting. The dining hall is casual & the posters on the walls kept us entertained.
