I love trying new pizza places, and when I saw a place near Pleasanton's Main Street called New York Pizza, I thought, alright, let's see what they've got. Then I noticed all the awards and "best pizza" claims plastered on the window. After eating a slice, my first question was: Who the hell voted for this? And while we're at it, who the hell is giving this place five-star reviews? If you ate this pizza and genuinely thought, "Yep, five stars," I seriously question everything you know about pizza. Your reviewing privileges need to be temporarily suspended until you go eat some actual good pizza and recalibrate your taste buds. Let's start with the cheese because this is where things immediately went off the rails. I have no idea what cheese they're using, but it sure as hell doesn't taste like good whole-milk mozzarella or quality pizza cheese like Grande. It tasted like the cheapest bag of processed shredded cheese somebody could find. If your business has "pizza" in the name, the cheese should probably be one of the things you get right. Then there's the sauce. Calling it bland would almost be a compliment. No real seasoning, no oregano, no noticeable garlic, barely any salt--just red sauce existing on top of dough. It tasted like somebody opened a giant food-service can, dumped it into a container, and said, "Yep, pizza sauce." The pepperoni? Completely forgettable. Standard cheap-tasting pepperoni that brought absolutely nothing to the party. Honestly, the entire pizza tasted like every ingredient was selected using one rule: find the cheapest possible version and put it on some dough. Then you look back at those awards in the window and start wondering if they came free with the pizza oven. Pleasanton's Main Street has way too many good places to eat for pizza like this to get a pass. I wanted to like it, but this was straight-up terrible. New York deserves an apology. And some of these four or five-star reviewers need their pizza-reviewing licenses revoked. read more

Great location in DT PLEASANTON And the pizza by the slice option which doesn't come every pizza spot for sure. Friendly service . I was literally the only person inside eating lunch slice combo but I waited for it to be made from scratch. No old pizza slices inside the display. From my h beginning I noticed how clean this place is inside. There is plenty of small parking lots nearby like inklings coffee and true value hardware store which you can park for free. The late NFL Legend John Madden used to frequent this pizza parlor (see pic). They recommended I try the AFG pizza slice which was big but I didn't know it would be a thin crust but it didn't matter it was enough to fulfill me. Kids are back to school and it was daytime on a weekday Monday in September so I'm assuming it gets busier later as Monday night football kicked off this day hence so empty. Inside had various photos portraits of NEW YORK themed teams, celebrities and movies which was cool touch. I recommend his pizza place not frills and just tasty in general. read more

Our new go-to restaurant for late night pizza and snacks, especially after a movie - we stopped by after watching Avatar 3 recently. We parked across the street and made ourselves comfortable at a booth, then ordered garlic knots (my favorite), a large specialty meat pizza, and buffalo wings (with ranch, of course!). Food was very good and was enjoyed while we discussed the movie. Service was friendly. Will be back! read more

So this is just for the absurd price gouging. Went yesterday, my niece came for her bday dinner. I had never ordered the pizza. But everything else I've gotten has been amazing. So we ordered a large pizza with split toppings. Pizza was mediocre, honestly round table is better. My issue was with the cost. The pizza was 28.99 then $3 for every additional topping. So it doesn't say CHEESE PIZZA 28.99 PLUS $3 PER TOPPING. I paid $55.10 for a BASIC LARGE PIZZA!!! R U KIDDING ME. THEN THE TIP COMES UP I DID THE FIRST 10.25% TIP $6.60! I was soo pissed! There's spacious seating, pizza by the slice, various sized pizzas, canned and bottled drinks, and ice cream. I ordered a two topping (artichokes, and Kalamata olives) pizza slice for $8.99. The crust crispy, but the addition of the Kalamata olives made the pizza a bit too salty, otherwise the pizza was tasty. I hadn't been to NY pizza in a while and it was a nice treat. Just celebrated my son's first birthday at New York Pizza and we had a blast! These people are the most accommodating and friendly guys- they let us decorate the space, made sure we had everything we needed, and helped us to have a great party. They were attentive but not hovering and even worked to have our food ready at the exact time we asked. We ordered Caesar salad appetizers and five pizzas- a cheese, pepperoni, meat lovers, veggie, and even a gluten free chicken and bacon. They were all delicious! There were very few leftovers but what we did have we all fought over to take home. I went on a Tuesday so it wasn't crowded. Bonus points that the bathroom is decent. Minus points for the unmanaged fly situation. Tough to eat and keep them off your food at the same time. Some tables contained leftover candy and mess from previous patrons despite not being busy. I got the salmon sandwich special. Good sized sandwich and tasty without being fishy. They forgot the garlic on my garlic fries and added it but it tasted more like pickled mild garlic. I wasn't expecting that. They were okay fries. Notes from friends I was with: Both hamburgers and cheeseburgers come with cheese so beware lactose intolerant people. The pizza sizes jump in prize but not much in size. My friend and I went to check out downtown Pleasanton one evening. We decided to check out this place for dinner. The place is located on spring and main. They have seating inside and out. We walked in to check out their menu. We were greeted my Jamal with his exceptionally great customer service. Besides pizza, they have salads, sandwiches, burgers, and dessert. We ordered a cheeseburger, pesto chicken sub, and a combo slice to go. The burger was very tasty. Ingredients were fresh. Enjoyed every bite. The pesto chicken was really good too. Served toasted and flavorful. The pizza was full of toppings and was delicious. We were too full to get dessert, but we do plan to come back. When visiting your website and wanting to place my order, the large pizza costs $31.00, but you're charging $40.99 for the same product!!! What's the deal?... False advertising?? It's unfair to be advertising one lower price on your website and charging a higher price when your customer places the order. Just charge what you're going to charge for your product and keep it clean and simple. Until I see you've fixed this issue, I won't be placing any more orders from your establishment. Impressed by the late hours even on a Sunday and New Year's Day. Enjoyed the crust, but the sauce was about too bland/sweet for me and the texture of the cheese was off putting. I came here with a party of 5 at 11pm since it was the only place we could find that was still open to order food and we could still eat inside. Parking was fairly easy, and we were able to park just down the street and walk there. We were the only ones there, and we were greeted by the cashier who was very friendly and helped us answer questions about the different pizzas and sizes. In the end, we got the king kong sized combo pizza (26"). The pizza was delivered to our table after waiting for around 20 minutes, which I thought was really reasonable for such a large pizza, in the middle of the night. While the server was carrying our pizza over, I was absolutely shocked by how large it was. While I knew in my mind that the pizza was going to be large, I didn't realize that the pizza would be so large it would NOT FIT ON OUR TABLE. That's right, the edges of the pizza literally extended past the edges of the table. The absolute, gargantuan size of the pizza gave me a nice chuckle, and made me feel like I got a good deal on the pizza. This proved to be true, as the pizza was able to feed 5 ravenous young men for $12 each, not bad for bay area prices The actual pizza was solid, but unfortunately nothing to really write home about. The toppings were good, but not extraordinary. Same with the cheese, pretty good but not a home run, more like a solid double. Most likely due to the size of the pizza, the crust was a bit too much on the soft side, which made the pizza very difficult to pick up as it would droop and toppings would indiscriminately drop off the edge of the pizza like they were trying to escape being eaten. Overall, I think that this pizzeria is pretty solid comparing them to other super-late-night options, but unless you want to show up just to see huge pizzas, I would probably prefer other places during the daytime. read more

Because of an event in downtown, all restaurants were so busy yesterday, so we decided to grab something quick at New York Pizza, the only place that was pretty much empty. We were a little bit hesitant to eat here for two reason - place was almost empty on such a busy day in downtown plus what a small place that makes everything, from pizzas to hamburgers and some chicken meals can really be good. Guys, specialize in one thing and focus on that. We were right, both veggie and meat pizzas were low quality, not tasty at all. We didn't like how they were baked either. Sorry, but we don't have much to say about it, except that we won't go back. read more
