Call me naive, but when a business tells me my items will be ready at 5:00 on a specific day, that's when I expect to be able to pick them up. 5:00 -- "They're not here yet, the truck will be here in 15 or 20 minutes." I leave for a while and come back. 5:25 -- "The truck still isn't here." 5:30 -- [to another customer] "They're not here yet, the truck will be here in 15 or 20 minutes." 5:40 -- Finally get my shirt. I would give a zero star review but that isn't an option for Yelp. I have been using the Burnet Road location for several years, and the people behind the counter are rude, miserable, and provide the most unhappy customer service experience I have ever encountered. Unfortunately, my experience is not limited to just one person, but multiple. I have experienced customer service staff throwing my comforter on the floor after I took it in for cleaning. Then, this past Saturday, I was stuck in traffic and arrived at the store about 5 minutes before closing, and the customer service woman told me she couldn't accept my order because she didn't have time to run my credit card. Um, huh? Last time I checked, it takes two seconds to run a credit card transaction. When I asked her if she was refusing to accept my items, she made me sort my own items, count them, then describe each one (basically doing her job), and essentially shaming me for arriving just before closing time. Absolutely insulting and disrespectful. I'll be taking my business elsewhere. Highly recommend going somewhere else unless enjoy being mistreated. read more

I'm disappointed. We have been using them for the past few months or so but I brought my dress home to find it still had all 3 of its mustard stains still on it. These were not deep set stains and frankly, can be removed with a wet cloth, but I didn't realize it would even be possible for me to bring this home "clean" and still have these stains showing on the dress. Back in March I left my tuxedo for my best friend's wedding and they told me to pick it up next day. I came the following day before closing and they told me it was not delivered. My flight was leaving next morning and I could not come back. I felt frustrated since I could not miss this wedding but they called one of the supervisors, Jaime, to get in touch with me. I explained to her how important it was for me to have the tuxedo with me that same evening. She understood the situation and she went out of her way to go find my items from one of their facilities and drove to my apartment to deliver it. I have used these guys over the last year. Most of my experience has been decent until today. I asked them to redo a shirt because I got it back with a collar that was a bit brown in places where it was never brown before. They offered to redo it for free but it ended up the same. I was upset and told them they should just throw away the shirt. They said "ok thanks" and let me leave with no offer for anything in compensation. I won't be back. So sad to see a long time Austin establishment go down the drain. I have come here for a long time and am totally dismayed at how they are NOT handling, NOT responding to a missing piece of clothing. It's been since before Thanksgiving. I stop by weekly - literally weekly - to check (still looking, management will call, blah, blah...). I have been using Rick's cleaners for years. Upon my recent trip, I learned they have drastically increased prices. To clean a full size comforter is now $49 (vs. the previous price of about $30). Incredibly frustrated and disappointed with this company. I dropped off a formal dress with a few stains to be dry cleaned and paid a rush fee because I needed it in a short turnaround time. When I went to pick it up, the stains were still very visible. They offered to redo it, but because of that, I was not able to get the dress in time for when I needed it. I understood that because I know stains can be finicky. But when I went to pick it up after the second cleaning, there were marks pressed onto the dress that were not there previously. They acknowledged that the marks were new and offered to have their corporate office contact me to discuss. However, their corporate office refused to refund me the cleaning fee and only gave me the option of having them try and clean the dress another time with no guarantee of receiving compensation for the garment itself if anything else went wrong. After two failed attempts + damage at their hands, this wasn't something I was comfortable moving forward with, yet they still refused to refund me the cleaning fee even though they were at fault and service was performed poorly. Would not recommend trusting Rick's with your clothes. read more

I had a terrible experience my first time ever using Rick's Cleaners. When I picked up my white dress shirt it was significantly discolored. I left it with them and over the next few weeks I had to call over and over about status with little response. After over a month of battling they finally decided to refund me 60% of the cost of my shirt based on an "average life expectancy" chart. So they damaged my shirt, I was without my shirt or compensation for over a month and now I can use my 60% compensation to pay 100% for a new shirt. Never going there again and you shouldn't either. read more

You get what you pay for. Yes, Rick's is cheap - $3.69/shirt for dry clean - but my shirts came back in the exact same condition they were brought in, stains and all. When asked about the stains, she told me "we don't do magic here". I had a pretty good experience here. The place is very clean and everyone looks professional. When I first went to drop off my clothes, there were several people ahead of me to pick up their orders. It took maybe a minute for me to be greeted, but the woman behind the counter said she would get to me momentarily. When I finally got to the front desk, she was friendly and helpful. She asked me questions and got my details all set in the system so the transaction was quick. I had a large bag of stuff to be dry cleaned and laundered. I was worried the price was going to be difficult. Not at all! Please note that you do have to pay when turning in the laundry. The pricing was inexpensive and everything was completed within a few days. The dry cleaning was done a day faster, they let me know the ready dates of everything before I even paid. Once my entire order was completed I received a text message indicating I could pick up my laundry. I got there and someone was dropping off an order and this time I had to wait several minutes before the person behind the counter told me someone would help me. I still had to wait a bit before someone came from the back to help me with my pick up. Great work, inexpensive, but customer service could be a bit better. read more

My husband dropped off our guest room bedding two Mondays ago, was given a ticket that said it would be done by Thursday at 5pm, and - knowing that we were expecting company that weekend - was told to call on Wednesday to see if it was ready early. He dutifully called that Wednesday, was told that the bedskirt was in, but they were awaiting the comforter, so we should swing by the following day. I headed over there on Thursday after 5pm and discovered that the comforter was in, but the bedskirt wasn't. The clerk told me that she would put a rush on it so that it would arrive before 5pm on Friday, and someone would call me with a status update when they opened Friday. I called to check-in late Friday morning and was told that the bedskirt was taking longer than expected because it had a spot on it. That surprised me since this bed is rarely used and we noticed no marks when we pulled it for cleaning. That afternoon, we received a voicemail that said that they actually lost the bedskirt, would need 5-6 days to try to locate it at one of their 15 stores, and - if they didn't find it - we could then begin the 2-3 week claim process. They provided a customer service number to contact with questions. My husband called the line, left a message, and never received a call back. At this point, we welcomed our house guests with a partially made bed and tried to laugh off the ridiculousness. The 5-6 day search-and-rescue window came and went with no update, so I just phoned the store. I was told that a "tracer" form was sent to the main office and that a claim form will be sent to us by next Wednesday. When I inquired about when the dry cleaning charges would be reversed, the clerk told me that she will have to "make a note of it" to inform their main office of my request. Um, I think it should be standard operating procedure to immediately refund the cleaning charges on a lost item. When I asked how the claim process works in light of the fact that the bedskirt was part of a matching set that was purchased together, the clerk stated that she believes they only reimburse for the item alone. Throughout this nearly two-week (and counting) debacle, we have yet to receive a follow-up call as promised and have not had anyone apologize for the snafu at any point in the process. It's amazing how far a sincere "I'm sorry" can take you, and Rick's sadly has not learned that critical customer service lesson. read more

First time going to the dry cleaners in Austin to clean a coat and a vintage blouse and the blouse was returned with half of the buttons broken or missing and the jacket still having an odor. This was my first time going to Rick's and it was HORRIBLE. I took in a dress for an event, and the strap was completed destroyed, definitely something you would have noticed going on the hanger. I was not made aware of this and I drove all the way home to notice it myself. I am not going to be wasting gas to drive all the way back just to see if I can get it fixed. do not go to this dry cleaners they will not take care of your belongings and don't let you know when it is ruined. I wouldn't have mind the dress strap getting destroyed things happen but the fact I was not told is very upsetting. read more
