AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE EVERY TIME I have been using Ricks Cleaners since April 2024 and have consistently experienced hostility from the employees. Although I usually try to overlook it due to infrequent interactions, the most recent experiences have compelled me to stop using any Ricks Cleaners in the Austin area. For instance, my husband had his tuxedo shirt dry cleaned for our WEDDING, and when he received it back, it was covered in stains on the back that Ricks attempted to conceal. Additionally, they often quote incorrect prices over the phone and require you to drive to the shop, only to find the price is three times higher than what was initially stated. If the staff were pleasant and accommodating, I might be more forgiving, but I've reached my limit at this point. I strongly recommend you avoid any Ricks Cleaners. read more

I actually use Ricks Cleaners at the William Cannon Blvd at South First and have used them for the past 22 years - even though I moved to Kyle 21 years ago. The prices are good, the services are good, the turnaround time is good, and the employees are friendly. I like that they welcome you dropping off excess clothes hangers. I have used the Brodie Lane location but this is not as convenient. I would welcome something in the Kyle location with the same prices. read more

I been going to Rick's on 620 for a few years and today I had the worst customer experience, I walked in with my pickup receipt that has my contact info and order info, I handed it to the lady that works there, never seen her before, maybe new, I have never had an issue previously, but today this lady was nasty and disrespectful, she did not want to check my receipt paper, she did not want to look at it, she asked me my info and I mentioned it's on the paper infront of you, but I went ahead and told her my name and phone, she had a real negative attitude from the get go, after she brought my clothes, she yells at me to put the receipt in a thrash can. On Monday April 7th around 10AM I went to Rick's Cleaners at 8400 Brodie Lane. I took in 7 shirts and, because I'm 87 years old & use a cane, I asked the young lady working if she could retrieve my remaining 6 pairs of pants in my car. She did not respond, although she looked at me like I was completely nuts. Mind you, there was no other customer waiting, it was just feeble ol me and her in the business. So I hobbled backed to my car and precariously carried my unusually large bundle of laundry. I've been going to this Rick's for about 5 years, and often the man who works there assists me if I ask, but apparently this woman considers this a crazy idea. This place is terrible don't come here. You pay upfront which goes smoothly enough, but I just looked at one of my blouses and the stains on them don't look like they've even been touched. The shirt looks the exact same, like it was hung up and wrapped in plastic without any cleaning. A waste of money and time. read more

Have to say that I am impressed with their improved service! Our blouse had spots on it from when we brought it in. I pointed it out to after it was cleaned. Rick's took a special iniciative to getting it redone and completly clean, No spots! I know we should notify ANY spots when dropping off. Tim is such a great person with the best customer service. I've used this Rick's location since I moved to Austin. I needed 2 items rushed due to needing to leave town for a funeral (next day), and the earliest they would guarantee them is 5PM. I told them I needed to be at the Church in SA in at 4:30, and they said "Oh, I'm sorry." Also, I saw the manager standing right there watching - didn't say a word. Avoid this place. They don't care about their customers and apparently forgot they are in the people business. Would give zero stars if I could. P.S - while I was writing this review, a patron of Rick's walked out to inform me that they screwed up his order too - left his jackets in Burnet and only had his pants ready. Nice! read more

They were really helpful, had my wedding on the 11th of April and took it the 5th of April, usually they wouldn't be ready by my wedding date as it's not within their time limit, but they were able to work with me and got my fiancé's dress done by that Friday April 9th. Don't use this cleaner for any clothing you truly value (which is the majority of "dry clean only" clothing). Every time I bring anything with beadwork, buttons or any kind of closure, the garment comes back with damaged beads, or missing or broken buttons. This time I specifically asked for them to be careful with the bead work and hook and eye closures on a cardigan sweater. The clerk made the note, but my sweater came back in the worst shape yet. 3 of the hooks were literally ripped off actually destroying the fabric where they were attached, and 3 were bent beyond repair. They offer a bridal gown keepsake service. They can't clean a simple sweater without damaging it. Sadly, their affordability is a mute point when they destroy my clothes. :( read more

The staff is slow, not very friendly, and the "manager" picking her teeth with her fake yellow nails was just icing on the cake. She's looking at the computer screen and a receipt with her colleague, and just picking away. I wanted to vomit. Not to mention, half of my clothes were lost or separated. This dry cleaner's is perfect for me: it's close to the house, very inexpensive, and works just perfectly. My clothes are cleaned and jackets pressed, husband's shirts look right. The store is not large, and neither is the parking lot, but like another reviewer said, what more do you need? They're quick, the clothes get cleaned at a reasonable price, wham, that's it, that's the Yelp. One caveat: the parking lot, like the storefront, is a bit small. Keep an eye out because the next-door tenant to the dry cleaner's is (at least for now at this time of review) a little-kid karate studio. I can make a list of sounds that one might overhear during one's shift that are more annoying than a little-kid karate studio. The list is a), bus depot during backing-up practice, b) shooting range, c), preschool, and d), Guitar Center. If staff ever appear cranky, please remember: their next-door neighbors are a little-kid karate studio. read more

This is by far the best cleaners! We have always come here and today it was confirmed how amazing it is. My husband and I have been moving all weekend and all his uniforms were being dry cleaned. We noticed after closing yesterday that we forgot to get them and freaked out knowing they are closed sundays and my husband having work at 5 am Monday. I sent a message on Facebook thinking there was no chance I'd hear anything: the next day the owner, Ian was kind enough to offer to drive from Leander on their closed Sunday to get my husbands uniforms. We are forever thankful and happy to support a business that's owned by a quality person who has a great staff. Highly recommend. read more

Do yourself a favor. Drive further up or down Brodie and find another dry cleaner. They wrecked the leather on the buckles of my trench coat. It's going to cost me 5 x the cost of the dry cleaning of my garment at least if not more to replace them. When I pointed this out to the lady at the counter she said "well, it said that you could dry clean garment." I said, "yeah, the coat, but not the accoutrements i.e. the buckle." And she just gave me a blank look like I was speaking alien gibberish. You get what you pay for, and although I did not know that it was a discount cleaner , I should have ran when I saw the signs... Of a truly DISCOUNT cleaner. Discount this place and go somewhere else and save your nice clothes. Lesson learned for me. read more

RICK's POLICY IS BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE. If I could give them zero stars, I would. They routinely tear buttons off items of clothing, which not only renders the items temporarily useless, but damages them. In answer to my protest, they gesture blithely at a sign in the wall that says, in effect, "we can tear your buttons off if we want to and we're not going to do a damned thing to fix them." I've been using Ricks on Brodie for over 5 yrs. I never had a really bad experience in all that time. I was driven to post a Yelp because of the current manager Lissette. (Sorry if I spelled it wrong. ) I am forgettable, yet she greets me each time with a huge smile and friendly counter service. Due to my mixup, I got there way early to pickup and she offered to call later in the day when it arrived, in time for my important event. My clothes are always done well and on time. Well, they are not the friendliest. They have rules, such as you need to prepay (which I've never heard of) and you can't pay with your card unless it's over a certain dollar amount. They communicate both to you as if you should have known this walking in. Their actual service was OK, but with that kind of customer service I'll go elsewhere. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. I have never been one to complain, or write reviews but this is absolute poor customer service, communication, and lack of appropriate compensation for a ruined garment. I dropped off a dress (cost appx. $175) to Ricks off of Brodie end of last week. I brought it in to be spot cleaned at bottom of garment from the rain & mud. I have dry cleaned this dress multiple times before without any complications or issues of my garment coming back in prestine & wearable condition. I got my dress back 2 days ago, and not only had the stains on the dress NOT been removed, but the dress was stretched out so extreme, that the length to the floor was over a foot longer. This dress hit my right at my ankle bones prior to bringing it to you guys. I received a phone call from the office telling me that it was not their fault, and that the only options were 1. re-clean it 2. give me my $3 back for the cleaning I believe 100% that I should have at least been compensated for part of the price of the garment or at least offer to hem it or alter it. I think it is absolutely poor customer service that I receive a pricey garment back completely ruined and unwearable and without compensating me for my loss. It does not make sense that the blame is put on the fabric for two reasons: 1. I have dry cleaned this many times without this issue 2. When I brought my garment in, no one mentioned to me or called me to mention that the "fabric will stretch" if it is cleaned. Again, this does not make sense as I have never had this issue before. All in all, that excuse does not make sense. In the future, I recommend warning your customers if that is a potential and call them and ask if you would like to proceed in cleaning, or AT LEAST compensate the customer for the garment you have ruined. read more

It's cheap, so sometimes you get what you pay for. I had a scarf go missing and a really pretty dress with gold dot overlay have the gold dots come off b/c something rubbed them off. However, for everyday work clothes they are fast and that's what I usually need. read more

Although I no longer use Rick's, I must say that their willingness to provide excellent customer service has earned this updated star rating. This culture starts with the owner and trickles down. When I stopped using this location, much of the staff was younger and somewhat newly employed, so they aren't quite up to speed. However, the manager (Cindy) and the seasoned staff are great. If you have issues, bring it to their attention, and they will fix it. Otherwise - enjoy a quality cleaning service. read more

Great service, great quality. This was my very first time getting anything dry cleaned. I had been nervous to go because I didn't want to pay through the roof and see my clothes ruined. Thanks to Rick's Cleaners I had nothing to fear. My clothes were perfectly cleaned and pressed, and returned even better than new. The turnaround was QUICK and the stains were gone!!! I had 2 dresses, a silk shirt, and 3 cotton shirts. They had light soiling around the neckline and a few stains. Now I can wear them again. I was very impressed that Rick's could handle dry cleaning a vintage Scottish military kilt I bought secondhand and press all those pleats and handle my expensive wool garment carefully. Got it back the next day and it is much refreshed and no longer rumpled or musty-smelling -- AND they charged me only the standard price as for a "skirt" even though this must have required more work and attention. Best price I've ever paid for cleaning a kilt! I'll be a returning customer and I refer this place to others who play in bagpipe bands or own Scottish Highland clothing. read more

Do NOT go here. First off, I had never heard of "Ricks Cleaners" nor had I took the time to review it. Shame on me. After being approached by a rude, ill-mannered young women who inspected my clothes, she told me that it was only going to be around $18 for a full comforter and a silk blouse. I had been asking lots of questions and she would give me sassy remarks and answers. When I told her it was a full comforter she looked at it and said "No, it's a queen." After discussing for about 10 minutes, which is unnecessary because I AM the costumer she then just charged for the normal full comforter price. Well convinced by the price I decided I was going to drop them off until she told me I had to pay in advance. I first off found that to be odd. Second after paying $18 in advance... she then took my WHITE 100% comforter and threw it on the dirty tile floor in the back. As for my silk blouse she just snatched it right from my hands and threw it into a dirty bag. After this impression I just couldn't leave my clothes there with HORRIBLE costumer service and poor clothing handling. I asked for my money and items back immediately and got the heck out of that place.... The employees at Rick's cleaners act as if it's a favor their doing for you when really it's their jobs. We are Paying for their services and they treat us terribly. Save your time and money and clothes and reference back to the first line of this review. read more

I had been going to Rick's Cleaners for several years. But they hired some new girl at the location on Parmer (near Mopac), and she is atrocious. She won't get off the cell phone for customers, and she just keeps yapping away at personal calls. She has a rotten attitude, and doesn't even put the pickup-date on the slips. I tried to find and contact the corporate office, but they hide their contact information from their website. So be it, I will never be a customer of Rick's Cleaners again -- there are too many other better options. The rest of you beware -- Rick's Cleaners treats you and your clothes like CRAP. read more

If I could give this place a negative rating, I would. Worst service ever, but I guess that's what you get when you advertise to be the cheapest place in town. If you risk taking your favorite clothes here, make sure to not let the cashier throw your receipt away and check your clothes on the spot. Because if they damage your stuff and you don't have a receipt because they threw it away, they don't care about keeping the customer happy. They just tell you tough luck and too bad because their customer service policy sucks and they don't care about the customer or whether the customer ever comes back. Be very wary of bringing in specialty items - I brought in a very 6 x 4 wool blanket that was handmade by my mother. I was sure to mention to the person on staff the size, material, and sentimental significance. What was returned to me was what could best be described as a 1 x 3 felt-like hand towel. I attempted many times to find out what happened, including going in in person, emailing, calling, sending photos of what the blanket looked like before it was brought it, etc. While the manager on staff was friendly and tried to be helpful, the owners never once contacted me personally after my many attempts to reach them. I also filed a claim (per their request) asking for a refund (this should have been done without me asking) plus $100 to replace the materials used to make the blanket (an incredibly fair request that I was denied). I understand that mistakes happen, but the careless way that my politely-communicated concerns were ignored and the fact that my property was destroyed (along with the personal and sentimental value it had) is more than enough reason for me to never go back and to warn others against bringing in anything that can't be replaced with a refund and a series of unanswered questions. read more

I have been a customer of Rick's Cleaners for years and realize that in some respects you get what you pay for. HOWEVER, even after being a good customer, they ruined a yellow blazer of mine and refused to take responsibility. It took them 3 weeks to get the jacket to their main office as it kept being sent back to the plant. When it finally got to the main office, "Barbara" said that if the plant had caused the blue green stain on my yellow blazer, it would have been all over the jacket. No one from their customer service department deemed it important to call me to discuss and just sent the jacket back to the location where I dropped it off. They left it to their hourly employee to basically call me a liar and tell me they were going to do nothing. Rick's could use a good basic course in customer service. This good customer will never take clothes to this business again! User Beware!!! read more

The owner is buddies with another cleaners owner. Neither one of the cleaners cares about the customers or employees. The employees shouldn't treat the guests the way they do, but they do it because of how they are treated by the higher-ups of the company. The employees are told one way of handling damaged/lost clothing, but the customer service tells the customer something else. She never relays the message to the employees or manager. The dry cleaning location "misplaces" usually only nice clothes. I used to work there and even I think the "misplaced" items aren't lost, but taken. I have no proof and don't take my word on that, but the amount of Items lost is a little high not be to be questioned. This company tried to tell me I couldn't go to a funeral because they didn't have another employee to cover the shift. I had to tell them I'm going no matter what, and somehow they found someone that they said doesn't exist. A word of advice: CHECK YOUR POCKETS!!! anything you leave in them goes to the employees. Money, jewelry, watches, all of it. Other cleaners have bags that they put the items into...this company does not. If you leave it, you lost it for good. read more

I admit it.. I am cheap. So when I moved to Austin, I looked for a cheap cleaners, as I will not iron.. ever... So, I am not going to say Rick's is perfect, but for 2.59 DC and 1.89 laundry - totally the best for the price. I tried a few others, and for the difference in the money, I am sticking with Ricks. The employees there know me, they are super friendly, and really try hard to do a great job. I will also admit I haven't been to a bucnh of other cleaners.. but why shold I try? The people at Ricks do a good job of cleaning and pressing my clothes - that's the point, right? Oh, and they just upgraded the computer system, and it is excellent... so, I recommend them. I've used many cleaners..... most good, some bad. I used this location of Rick's Cleaners primarily for laundering services, with some dry cleaning, fof most of 2008. I stopped using Rick's because they lost three pairs of slacks and my laundered items were fairly consistently stained after I received them. Very poor work. read more
