I have taken clothes to Rick's Cleaners for years. I have been very pleased by their services. The ladies who handle services are wonderful!

I recently visited Rick's for the first time. I had 3 pair of dress pants for pressing only. I remarked to the clerk at the time that I was impressed with the very reasonable pricing. After I returned home with my trousers I quickly realized how they keep their pricing low. They apparently don't spend any money on training or quality control. As anyone would know, dress pants should be pressed with the creases in the front and back not the sides. Mine were all pressed side to side which resulted in me actually paying double after taking them elsewhere for proper service. Live and learn but I'd steer clear if I were you. read more

I don't often buy clothing that needs to be dry cleaned, but there's always that exception: a vintage sweater, a coat, a finicky dress or blouse or jacket. I dropped off a vintage men's sweater vest and crossed my fingers that it wouldn't fall apart in the dry cleaning process. They charge a flat per-item rate, so no surprises there. They do the actual cleaning off-site, so the counter employee took the sweater, set me up in their system, and told me it would be ready the next day after 5PM. I called the next afternoon and it was back early, which was fantastic because no one wants to hit evening traffic on South Lamar. Even better, the sweater looked great! So far, so good. I have been using Rick's for several years and simply do not understand how they are voted the "Best of" anything. Most recently been using the location on Burnet Road and their customer services is just beyond rude and insulting. The general attitude of the customer service women is like you are bothering them by taking in your items or picking them up. They certainly aren't friendly, and my encounter this past Saturday pretty much sealed the deal for me. Unfortunately, I had been stuck in the usual Austin traffic and arrived at the store about 5 minutes before closing time. I was brining in six items but the woman behind the counter refused to accept them saying she "didn't have time to run the credit card". Um, what? It takes two seconds to process a credit card transaction. I asked her directly if she was refusing to accept my items, then she made me count my items individually and describe them (essentially doing her job), and she basically was shaming me for coming into the store near closing time. Unfortunately, this isn't my first encounter with poor customer service at this location. The women in this store are clearly unhappy, dissatisfied with their work, and generally don't even try to provide a good customer service experience. I'm done. Highly recommend going elsewhere unless you are into being mistreated. read more

I haven't been to a cleaners in several years. I guess things have changed. I'm used to just dropping my bag off and picking it up the next day. I don't mind the pre-pay. What bugs me is they insist I tell them how to clean the clothes. This is why I am bringing my shirts to professionals. I have no idea which shirts require dry cleaning and which are laundry. I'm not going to stand there at the counter and read labels. They lady at the counter would not take my shirts unless I gave her instructions on every shirt. I packed my shirts back in the bag and took them down the street to Zips where they know how to clean clothes. Rick's (South Lamar) was a wasted stop. Update: Rick's responded to this review suggesting that "if you leave it up to us, we can definitely recommend what service each garment should be sent off to". I can tell you this was NOT an option when I attempted to drop my clothes off. The lady refused to take my clothes unless I told her how I to clean each item. Trying to be honest with this review (days might be slightly off): I brought my suit (jacket & pants) to the S Lamar location Monday the week before I needed it. It was supposed to be ready Wednesday, so I came back Thursday to get it. It wasn't at the store. The employees that helped me said I'd be called when it was ready. No call came, so I called. No sign of where the suit was, but it would certainly be ready when I needed it. Still no call, so I called again. Employee said they'd call the central office and that the central office would call me back. No call. So I called them again. Finally we discovered the suit was lost, and I had just a few days until I was flying out of town for the event. So I go buy another suit and make claim to get reimbursed. The reimbursement form asks for my address but doesn't say what it will be used for. Given all the hacking going on these days, I gave my address but not apartment number to try to protect at least a portion of my personal data. Unfortunately the reimbursement check was sent to the address w/ out apt number. Eventually I got it after their accountant was back in the office a week or 2 later, but I had to pick it up at the S Lamar location. They reimbursed me for the full cost of the replacement, which is why I'm giving 2 stars, instead of 1. But I won't be using Rick's again. read more

This review is just for my dropping off experience. Regardless of how my clothes come back, I wanted to share this review. I've never been to Rick's before, and the worst first impression for a new company is when the first person you interact with acts like you are bothering them. The woman at the counter (who only put a mask on when a couple minutes after I walked in after she got done with a phone call) had that attitude like she really didn't want to be there. When I started showing her the stains on my dresses, she didn't mark them, and I felt like she was rushing through, kind of like a "yeah, yeah, let's get this over with" attitude. My two dresses had multiple stains in different areas so I asked "are you not going to mark those?" and she said "when I take them to the back". So I'm not going to be surprised if I get them back and some places are missed entirely. Because... if you're going to mark them "in the back" (which, come on, really?), then does it not make total sense to mark them in front of the costumer?!? Not only for my piece of mind but so that the garment is cleaned correctly, to prevent re-dos and bad reviews? Then she proceeded to wad up my expensive dresses (I'm a clothing reseller, so I take super good care of my items; I can't sell them if there are flaws) and toss them into a hamper under the counter. It did not give me a good feeling at all, and I left feeling really frustrated because I drove 30 minutes out of my way because this location had 4.5 stars. Yeah tht price and turnaround time is great, but I am so not happy with that interaction right now. If I am made to feel like I'm bothering the employee, then a fast turnaround doesn't really matter. read more

Update: After several back and forth communications, Rick's refuses to own their mistake and does NOT stand by their policy of replacing items that they ruin. I'm very disappointed with their false advertising, they do not remedy their careless mistakes. I do not recommend using this cleaner, you're better of anywhere else. Ricks is the most disappointing dry cleaners I've ever been a client of. Most of the time my clothes come back in worse shape than when I left them (pulls on sweaters, fabric pills, weird spots/stains, HOLES). I've wasted so much time returning to pick up clothes 2-3x just for them to fix their original errors. This last trip was my tipping point. I bought brand new expensive sweaters from Anthropologie which were only worn once, 3 of them came back completely pilled and ruined, and one with a large hole (picture for reference). I'm so disappointed. read more

Very poor customer service from an employee working the counter at the S Lamar location. I've given this place a chance 3 times now and the experience is negative every time with the same employee. personnel was so rude! I drive from. Bastrop to Rick's because of the heavy starch. The attendee is going to tell me the shirts are heavy starch when they are not! if I wanted my shirts just ironed, I can iron myself and do a better job.so not only did they fail on the heavy starch but the workmanship is very poor! I can post pictures! So I paid for poor service and very rude customer service! What is wrong with people these days! They can't do their job and they still want to mistreat the customer! I've been calling over a month about my suit. They keep telling me that they'll call me back with updates but they don't. I'm the one who needs to call them and ask for updates which is the same response, "we will get back to you and give you an update on your suit." Their computers apparently have been down to check the cameras, but I don't think it takes a month to get the computers back to work. I try being patient bc mistakes do happen, but when don't reach back to me I feel like they don't care. I'll update my review as I go with the progress in finding my suit. They said they'll call me this afternoon again with an update. read more

I was a bit shocked when I brought clothes to be dry cleaned and laundered today (Saturday). I arrived at 3:38 pm and as soon as I walked into the store Adele, the person behind the counter raised her voice and asked me "Are you seriously dropping your clothes off this late?" Since this is my first time to this Rick's location, I assumed that she was mixing me up with someone else and was simply joking. I didn't say anything at first, but her scowl and the fact that she was shaking her head made me realize she was not joking. In a calm voice I pointed out that it was 3:39 pm and that I thought the store closes at 4 pm on Saturdays. She responded by saying "yes, it does, but I have a ton of things to take care before we close." I was simply bewildered. She then basically tried to talk me out of leaving my clothes there. It wasn't so much what she said, but how she said it. For example, she said in an angry voice that "everything needed to be paid for up front" (which I didn't have a problem with) and then she said "you know that your clothes won't be ready until Wednesday at 5 pm," again in a very snide voice. I didn't realize it takes that long, but I just responded by saying "that's ok." Then she said "I assume that you want to dry clean everything," to which I replied that I had several shirts that I would prefer to be laundered. She looked at the tags and she realized about 4 or 5 of the shirts were 100% cotton, so they could be dry cleaned. I did end up leaving my clothes there, but I doubt I will use this Rick's location in the future if this is how I will be treated. I absolutely hate when customers act like a "Karen or a Chad," so I barely said anything and never raised my voice. Maybe she was just having a very, very, very bad day! read more

Got my Galentine's dress laundered by Anna and she was super helpful. First time customers that check in on Yelp get a free laundered item so hurry on in. I gave them my dress on Tuesday night and it was ready by Wednesday morning which was super impressive!! All that great service with a smile and makes me a happy customer that will be returning. read more

They always always always get it right and it is so nice having a place you can count on to get your stuff cleaned. Especially when you are in a pinch. I used the take a photo and post to get a free dry cleaned item! I had a winter coat and took it in. They said it would be ready the next day around 3 and it was ready around 11! Great service! I've been using Rick's since they opened up their location on North Lamar awhile back. They haven't let me down yet, so I was glad to see a new location closer to my new apartment down south. It's a new location, but the same great service. You can't beat the price and level of service as well. I've paid more to get my clothes dry cleaned else where, but Rick's delivers the same great service as all those other more expensive places. Friendly, know me by name, courteous, prompt, consistent, and thorough. Shirts are cleaned and pressed, never had an issue so far in my 1+ year relationship with them. Usually doing 6-12 shirts with the occasional pants in my drop off. I get the text notifying me that my items are ready, so that's nice. Recently moved to Austin and have tried a slew of cleaners in the area. Leveraged Yelp and decided to give Rick's on South Lamar a try. What a wonderful experience. The quality of the work was excellent but even more impressive was the customer service provided. Of particular note was Cindy, Store Manager, her energy and positive approach in welcoming her customers was memorablWhen I returned to pickup my articles she remembered me by name. I am a first time customer and have had the most awful experience at this cleaners off South Lamar. I dropped off 17 articles of clothing and was told to pick them up on August 3, 2019 at 3PM. I told MV I'd be able to come on August 5, 2019 to collect my items due to being out of town. I picked my clothing up yesterday August 5, 2019 at 6:52PM and MV was unable to locate 5 articles of clothing. I was told I would be called once she reached the plant to see where my items were... that never happened. I called this morning August 6, 2019 and spoke with the "managers Cynthia. She stated she would look into the issue and call me back. Needless to say I never received a call back. Today I have called a total of 17 times and still they haven't done anything. The last call I had with MV this evening, she told me she couldn't do anything for me and that I would need to call the plant and customer service. She raised her voice at me saying she had other customers to help and that this was out of her hands. She then hung up on me while I was in the middle of asking for the customer service number. I called over and over and she did not answer. I had to call another location to get the number. I called and left a long voicemail explaining this awful situation and hopefully will be called back. My 5 missing clothing articles cost close to $800, so being treated this way especially as a first time customer is highly frustrating. The people working at this shop are incompetent, uncaring, and have a minimum wage work ethic. I wish I never used this cleaners. read more

I've been a customer at Rick's Cleaners for over 4 years now (since I moved to Atx), and I can honestly say that I wouldn't go anywhere else. Pricing is affordable, and the cleanliness is consistent. They've even gone out of their way to call me as soon as my favorite coat was ready! I'm usually not needy like that because they're always prompt with pick-up times, but I unexpectedly had to fly out recently and I tried to pick up my coat a little early, and the manager on duty said she would call me as soon as it was ready, and she did!!! I can't imagine anyone having a problem with Rick's. I started going to the one off Burnet back in 2010, and have since been a regular at the N. Lamar location and now S. Lamar. They have the most friendly person working the counter - Chantal! I am pregnant and Chantal always asks how I am and how the baby is doing. So sweet!
