Revolution Roasters is hands down my favorite coffee spot and roaster in Oceanside! If you're a fan of traditional black coffee, their roasts are true and consistent with robust notes varying roast to roast. If you're a fan of matcha, lattes, cappuccinos, cold brew, cortados and more, they have it all! Not to mention, their seasonal drinks are innovative and delicious! And yes, they absolutely have vegan milk alternatives! Baked goods! They do offer vegan baked goods as well as sandwiches and toast options, which are made fresh daily and stocked until they sell out. They are a roaster so they do sell their own bagged beans to take home and brew yourself, which I am also a huge fan of! Merch is always cool and extremely comfortable ranging from mugs, totes, hats, shirts and pullovers. There is both indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a public restroom and accessible water. This place is not nut allergy friendly and the customer service I received was absolutely horrible, in fact it was unacceptable. Nut allergies are serious and should not be taken lightly. I am very upset because the 2 female employees working at that time had no empathy, the least they could have done was make me a new drink. Since they did not, I am writing this so others with nut allergies know to be careful. They need to do better. Around 4:30pm or so today I ordered an iced chai with oat milk and slice of pumpkin bread. After a few sips and a bite of the bread my throat became very uncomfortably itchy and I had to use my inhaler to open up my throat before it got worse. I am very lucky I have a mild allergy to almonds. I went to the counter and asked for the ingredients in the pumpkin bread first, after they spent a couple minutes reading in the food book, they told me there was no nuts in it. I asked about the drink and they told me they could NOT have messed up because they wrote oat milk down. I get if it were an honest mistake and they owned up to it, but instead I was reassured that apparently they could not have messed this up in any way. If they did I would've understood, stuff happens. They proceeded to tell me that they only "rinse" their containers, not wash them so I probably got cross contamination, and then they shrugged off my problem. They did not care that I had a reaction, they did not offer a refund to me when I couldn't even sip my drink, they did not offer to make me a new one. They are very lucky my allergy is mild and not severe, others would be unlucky and could have needed their epipen and a phone call to 911. I should feel safe ordering a drink or food at a coffee shop without fear of cross contamination or order mess ups. I am very disappointed that this happened and the employees did NOT care. If you have nut allergies, be extremely careful when ordering here, they are not safe. read more

Not good for espresso. I had two different baristas for two different drinks: Cortado and Flat White. Instead of different drinks, I got two versions of the same thing, with different amounts of the wrong kind of foam. If you don't know what the difference is between a latte, cortado, and flat white, buy whatever is cheaper here. It's the same drink, apparently. I am not a fan of their espresso roast, either. It's too dark for my liking. If they stretched the milk right, it might have complemented the bitter shot better. As it was, it did not work. Over-stretched foam on an over-roasted shot. The shop looks pretty hipster. Based on that and the Yelp reviews, I had high hopes for Revolution Roasters, but they fell very short. read more

I have really given this coffee shop a few chances. Their pastries and recipes are clever and innovative: they know what they're doing! But as far as personnel goes, they're not the kindest. I've gone more than a couple of times and get a very cold "greeting" (if you can call it that). I wish this was a one time thing but I've gone through it I love good food and good coffee, but the way you get treated at these places certainly makes a difference too. By far and away the best local coffee roaster. Their americanos are fantastic, and I regularly buy their beans for work and home. They roast fresh beans on Saturdays in their Leucadia location, so if you want fresh coffee beans from Oceanside location, it's best to swing by on Sunday. Severely overpriced. I ordered an avocado toast on gluten free bread. It took about 20 minutes to come out, and when it did it wasn't on gluten free bread. They took it back and 10 minutes later they came out with the gluten free version which was half the size of the regular order. I paid $8.50 and was really disappointed. Great coffee and very cool space on PCH in Oceanside. Revolution Roasters is right up there with places such as Blue Bottle (in LA/SF) and Four Barrel (SF). I had one of the best cappuccinos here, so rich in espresso flavor and topped off with that perfect velvety foam only top coffee houses understand. Whole bean packs are available for $10 (1/2lb) and $16 (1lb) which I found pretty reasonable. A nice hangout for hipsters and located on the up and coming, revamped PCH. It's not just excellent coffee here ... service is terrific, super friendly and very welcoming. read more

I know not to go to Revolution Roasters before 3 PM on a weekend or holiday because it's crowded out the door. The coffee drink offerings and food are excellent but I can only give 3 stars because tables are monopolized by people with their laptops and iPads nursing a cup of coffee. A table to sit at is more profitable when a party of 2 orders food and drinks for a 30-45 minute stay versus someone with their laptop who uses it as freelance office space for hours on a $2 cup of coffee. It's not fair to customers who order food and drink and have no place to sit and enjoy what they paid for. read more

I am all about Revolution Roasters! My boyfriend and I decided to go on a mini-coffee tour. Loading ourselves with caffeine all day, we came across Revolution Roasters on yelp. It was the closest location when we arrived in Oceanside, so we decided to give it a go. Majority of the time, we end up ordering caramel lattes because it seems to be the go-to option. We noticed they had a Vanilla Bean option and it didn't disappoint! Their lattes are delicious and the coffee is great quality. Great coffee spot in an eclectic Oceanside neighborhood. Ambience and decor make you feel like you're in a trendy LA hangout. Had a pour-over coffee. Assumed they'd just pour the house toast but the knowledgeable cashier pulled out a menu and explained the roasts right down to origin and flavor profile. Great cup. They also have a nice selection of pastry, not sure where they're baked, but they were excellent (try the grapefruit donut if they have it). I'll definitely be back. We've been coming here since they opened several years ago and have loved it. Used to be great coffee and great service. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Some new "manager" is now here who sounds and looks like he is 12. Rude and unprofessional, and he just lost a loyal customer today. I always support the local coffee shops when out of town. This is a very popular shop, even in the middle of a weekday afternoon. Every time I went, all the seating, indoor and out, was taken. It was also difficult to find parking. I've tried several of the seasonal iced lattes. and to be honest, they pretty much taste the same, like a regular latte. The iced chai latte was amazing, with a spiciness too it, unlike other chain shops that just taste overly sweet. I only wish they had larger sizes for the iced drinks. They only go to 16 oz.. too small, especially for the prices they charge. The gluten free buckwheat banana bread is tasty. It's located less than 3/4th mile from the beach. Revolution has the best espresso drinks in North County. Now, maybe that's because it's so shiny and new and their espresso machines are factory fresh. That'd make sense. But I prefer to believe it's got more to do with their ace baristas than anything else. I usually have a mocha because I'm that kind of baby and lord if Revolution's mochas aren't among the most well balanced in the world--not too sweet but not super stronk on the coffee bite. Since I live right down the street, I've never actually stayed for very long. Still, I can say the shop itself has clean styling that calls to mind big city coffee houses like Sightglass in San Francisco or the Stumptown location in Los Angeles. People are always there working or chatting so I assume it's a chill place to hang out. Superhero wallpaper in the bathroom's really inspiring, too! Just go here. It's great. read more

I had their cold brew-grapefruit infusion and it was the coolest drink I have had in a long time! The baristas are very nice, we I told them I was out of town they chatted me up. Great service. Picked up a pound of their espresso roast at the leucadia farmer's market on a whim. Really pleased that I did. I've been looking for decent locally roasted coffee forever, and consistently surprised that SD had so little to offer. For the past few years I've been ordering from Blue Bottle (ridiculously expensive), or picking up month-old roasted intelligentsia at whole foods. Illy medium has been the fall back - also stupid expensive and very pedestrian roast. As far as locals - I find bird rock too citrusy - almost acidic in their roast, and I recently started buying Zumbar, which is also really quite good. So... in terms of Revolution, what I love so far about this roast is the exceptional balance, low acidity, and depth of flavor I can pull from my Rancilio using these beans. They are very consistent, use very high quality beans, which produces a perfect body on the shot, and works really well for both mixed drinks (cappuccinos, etc) and pure shots. Kudos guys... you are my go-to from here on in...I'm looking forward to exploring more roasts, and evangelizing you guys to friends and fellow coffeeheads. read more

My husband and I were there a week ago while staying in the Oceanside area and we were already out and about doing some shopping and this place was awesome! Not only were the esthetics on point...BUT so was the iced almond vanilla latte I ordered! The barista (pardon I forget his name, he was Australian.. I remember asking him after my husband and I have traveled there). But my husband asked him about the pour over's and he gave us the selections and was VERY knowledgeable. Coffee was OK. My seasonal latte was OK; The microfoam was actually pretty proper. Didn't sample the pastries. Customer service could've been better. Staff obviously had friends visiting, so a solid 5 minutes of chit-chat went by before they started making our drinks. The space is, without a doubt, (super hipster) chic. I like the "less is more" vibe and the location is great, but nothing struck me as unique! If you've ever been to Virtuoso or Bird Rock or Lofty, you know what I'm talking about. Presentation is obviously important. But presentation without substance is no bueno. read more
