Gated 6-speed Gallardo

In late 2022, I bought a 2006 Lamborghini Gallardo from Response Motors. I've purchased exotics from other independent dealers but this was my first time working with ResMo and I have to say it was a very pleasant experience. Unlike other independent dealerships, ResMo has an eclectic selection of rare vehicles. Case in point, my Gallardo SE was 1 of only 3 "gated" 6 speed manuals for sale in the US at the time. The ResMo staff are also car enthusiasts who are friendly, knowledgeable and yes, responsive. I worked with Yanni in Sales. Via text, phone & email, Yanni kept me current through the whole buying process. He even came in on Sundays (his usual day off) to meet me at the dealership. Alex, the Sales Manager is an industry veteran and has a wealth of knowledge. Fast forward to July '23 after a weekend of spirited driving the clutch went out (at least that's what I thought). ResMo also offers Service but I was hesitant as these are specialty vehicles. With a Lamborghini in the Bay Area your options are limited to paying a hefty premium through a dealer or waiting, in some cases months, for an independent Lamborghini mechanic to get you in. If you have stable of sports cars that may be okay but I keep just one exotic at a time & didn't want to wait. I had the car shipped to ResMo and after inspection the diagnosis was the clutch itself was fine. There was air in the hydraulic fluid which they swapped out & test drove a few times and that solved the problem. While they had my car in their possession, Melissa, Service Manager, kept me well informed using a innovative software platform that sends you text & email updates as well as the ability to authorize & pay for services from your phone or computer. At no charge the ResMo service team did a thorough inspection of everything else to make sure all is in good working order, including topping off fluids, checking tire pressure, etc. I'd braced myself for what I thought would be a large bill and was pleasantly surprised that it was a small fraction of that. Phew! Yesterday, when I went to pick up the car, it was so clean that it looked brand new! Someone had given it a thorough bath and minor detailing? --also "no charge" But before taking my car home I went to the shop in the back of the building to thank Nick, their lead mechanic. There I found Graham, the owner and all around great guy, working on a pet project GT3 - see story here: https://responsemotors.com/a-ruby-star-is-reborn/ Nick received a firm handshake and a 12 pack of Kona Beer for his excellent work! ResMo has made an outstanding first impression. They will continue to service my Gallardo and I'm confident my next purchase will be through ResMo. Yanni is already searching for my dream F355!

the 2005 Porsche carrera S cab for sale was purchased for $37,250 and they are trying to sell it for 45,997. They have failed to repair the interior defects and want to sell it as is.

I purchased a 996TT from Response Motors (Graham) over a year ago and this company is top notch. There was absolutely no pressure and closing out the deal (and all the paperwork) was easy and quick. Prices are also fair. I've since brought the car in for maintenance and upgrades. The Response Motors Service team (Melissa and Nick) installed an aftermarket wing (with paint match), a couple of go fast goodies and everything is working as expected and looks great. They kept me in the loop throughout the upgrade process/maintenance. Thanks RESMO!

Yanni and Alex are the best! Got me into a 997 Manual with no headaches an a very straightforward purchase and inspection experience. Nick is also awesome on the repair side and I would trust him with any car regardless of make or vintage!

I found the dream car I didn't even know existed - Cayman R in dark blue with a 6-speed! Graham and company run a top-notch business. Everything in their showroom is amazing. Had the best first drive ever going back down Hwy 1 to San Diego after picking up the car!

Purchased a 2005 997.1 S from Graham back in August. Best decision I made in 2019. The car only had ~60k on the clock and was immaculate inside and out. Graham took the time really check over the car and his engineering expertise allows you to really purchase with confidence that the cars he sells don't have frame damage or other sub-system component damage and are ready to go. He won't sell you something he wouldn't drive himself and the quality of the vehicles he offers shows that. He assisted with a few maintenance items as well on the 911 about 6 months post-purchase and I'm very pleased with the quality of the work and the effort they spent chasing a couple little things that were difficult to track down. His mechanic, detailer, and the rest of his staff are fantastic. These guys love what they do and just speaking with Graham for a few minutes you know he's a serious gear head who knows his stuff. This is the guy you want to work with if you're in the search for a well sorted Porsche (or other sports car, as he frequently has some non-P-cars in stock).

What really stood out was the communication throughout the repair. I received daily updates, so I always knew the status of my vehicle and what to expect. That level of transparency and customer service is hard to find. A special thank you to Jay, who went above and beyond to make sure everything was handled smoothly. Jay was professional, responsive, and made me feel confident that my car was in good hands from start to finish. The repair was completed efficiently, and the overall experience was great. I highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for quality work, outstanding communication, and exceptional customer service.

I'm very disappointed with my experience at this repair shop…read more I initially brought my 2017 Honda CR-V in because it was having acceleration issues, losing power, and struggling to accelerate properly. After inspecting my vehicle, the shop recommended replacing all four spark plugs and one ignition coil to resolve the problem. I trusted their recommendation and paid for the repairs. Unfortunately, the issues continued. I brought my car back a second time, and they told me one of the replacement parts was defective. They replaced the parts again at no additional charge, but the original issues were still not resolved. After two unsuccessful visits, I took my vehicle to a Honda dealership, where they diagnosed head gasket as the issue. I contacted stress-free, explained Honda's findings, and requested a resolution. However, I was told that they couldn't use Honda's diagnostic report and would need to perform their own diagnostics. Since Honda is now repairing my vehicle, they said there was nothing they could do. What frustrates me most is that I trusted their professional recommendation, paid for the repairs they suggested, and gave them a second opportunity to resolve the problem. In the end, i'm back at square one and had to pay for an additional diagnosis elsewhere. As a customer it feels like they stole my money. I understand that diagnosing vehicle problems isn't always straightforward, but I expected more accountability and willingness to work toward a resolution. Based on my experience, I would strongly recommend getting a second opinion before agreeing to expensive repairs here.

No one picked up and there was no returned phone calls. I am just going to go in tomorrow and pick up my car and take it to another location. Update 6/30: It seemed the mechanics were fine, I'm sure it is a capable shop. I finally got a call on Friday (1 hour before i was going in to pick up my car to move it to another repair shop). The nice person who accepted my car let me know that they had completed the diagnostic. I told him I was just gonna come in and get it since it had been 9 days since i had dropped it off and couldn't get ahold of anyone there. Plus on my voicemail on Tuesday i had said to cancel the diagnostic. I picked up my car and took it to another place. Also worth noting... I responded to the yelp response below on Wednesday with screenshots of my call log and the address where i took it. I got no response from that email address, no phone call, no nothing. I suspect the problems with this place are one or more of the following: * They have a LOT of cars onsite. My guess is that they are accepting too many and we would all be better served if they didn't over commit and said no to some of us. * I am guessing there used to be someone who was in charge of answering phone calls and responding to voicemails and communicating with the mechanics. Now there seems to be no one dedicated to this (though maybe an overworked mechanic who is stretched too thin). On Friday the person i worked with seemed to have no knowledge I had cancelled my diagnostic 4 days earlier. * Maybe they have an automated system for responding to one star yelp reviews... and it is not being monitored anymore. * Maybe their phone system is down or misconfigured and they are losing phone calls and voicemails. * Maybe the owner (or office manager) is sick. I hope they get better if so.

But I do feel that the acceleration increased obviously after the job. Kevin also spent time to explain what engine oil I should use. Despite some of the 1-star reviews, I decided to give this shop a chance because it was close to…read morehome, appeared to have experience with Subarus, and had plenty of positive reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was consistent with a few of the negative reviews. I was able to schedule an appointment within two days for an oil change using the manufacturer-recommended oil, OEM brakes and rotors, an A/C recharge, and a tire rotation. When I arrived, the shop immediately gave me weird vibes. There were no other customers, and the office was dark, dingy, and messy. It didn't feel like a professional shop at all. When I picked up my Subaru Forester, I learned they had used 10W-40 oil instead of the manufacturer-recommended viscosity rating (SAE) I requested. Rather than addressing my concern, I received a long explanation about why the difference supposedly did not matter (it matters; look it up!). They also installed Akebono brakes and rotors even though I had specifically requested OEM parts. The A/C service was even more frustrating. Kevin told me he had performed a diagnostic and found no parts that needed replacing, so he recharged the system. However, the A/C still did not work. I returned to the shop after picking up my wife from work. Kevin looked at it again and told me the O-ring needed to be replaced. He asked to keep the car for several more hours or overnight, which I declined. Several other things raised concerns for me. I was quoted around $100 for the A/C recharge, but the invoice came to ~$160. After I questioned it, Kevin reduced the charge by $30. To avoid a 3% credit-card fee, I chose Zelle, but the shop's number did not work, so I was asked to send the payment to his personal phone number. I also received only a photo of the receipt because the printer was supposedly/conveniently out of ink. Every question is met with a long winded spiel, where it's made to be seen as helpful or knowledgable, and to affirm that you've made the right choice by picking them. To me, it's a waste of my time and it exposes their nonsense if you listen carefully. Kevin also told that my car's control arm bushing was cracking and needed attention. Because I had lost confidence in him, I took the car back to the Subaru dealership to undo his work (e.g. changed the oil with the manufacturer-recommended viscosity, a/c diagnostic and repair, exchange the brake fluid he added with OEM fluid, etc.,) and they also performed a multipoint inspection. They provided a video of the inspection and did not identify the control arm bushing as an issue. Overall, I spent nearly $1,500 and left with more concerns than I had going in. I should have paid closer attention to the negative reviews. By the end of the experience, I didn't want them touching my car again. I will not be returning. If you own a Subaru, I recommend looking elsewhere for a shop that knows these cars, uses OEM parts, and operates with professionalism and integrity. The shop offers no warranty for their work. Even if they did, I had already lost confidence in them and decided it wasn't worth wasting anymore of my time or dealing with the hassle.
