I dropped in on Monday morning around 8:30 to ask if someone could look at my car because I was hearing a weird noise while I was driving, but no lights were on my dash. The nice gentleman working saw me through the window and rushed over to see what I needed. He said that because of the holiday weekend, that Tuesday would be better to make an appointment and he gave me the hours. At night, my brother took a look at my car and figured out my issue, so I actually didn't need to come back. But I called in the morning to let them know. I had a bad feeling at the Anderson Honda dealership in Palo Alto that the assessment was dishonest, saying my car needed services that were totally unnecessary. Christian did a free evaluation and told me that my brakes still had more life in them, that I didn't have a true oil leak and that I could come back and get the valve fixed when I need spark plugs in the next 10K miles. I will not be going back to the dealership and will be coming here for future service! Not to mention, while I was there I saw that a customer had ordered a pizza for Christian and the techs working with him because they were so grateful for his honest service. We have a classic (yes, it's over 20 years old!) 2004 Subaru Outback. It's served us so well, including many trips down to Baja California Sur, through deserts and along arroyos. The perfect car for such trips, past and, hopefully, future. Seven years ago, our go-to Subaru workshop moved out of the area, and we've been looking for great auto mechanics shop ever since. The AC on my older car lost the ability to cool. Expert Auto Care recharged the system with dye for free. Just under a year later, it again failed (expected - the dye was to trace the leak). They diagnosed the issue and replaced a hose, all same day. Their labour rate seems to be par for the course in this area, but the service is very good. read more

Honest, knowledgeable, kind, and reliable! I first went to see Christian at Expert Auto Care a few months ago because my coworker recommended him (she took her car to him when he was at MPG auto). I wanted a second opinion on a couple of items including whether I needed a new hybrid battery or not and some upholstery damage that mysteriously appeared. Christian kindly explained everything to me, answered all my questions, and gave me recommendations for services he couldn't provide. He's very knowledgeable about hybrid cars and was very efficient about replacing my battery. The price for parts and labor were on par with my research. Now, it's a few months later, and I needed a smog check for the DMV and an oil change. He gave me a referral for the smog check and completed the oil change in 30 minutes! I've made an appointment via phone and through the website--both are easy to do. After requesting an appointment through the website, Christian personally emailed me a confirmation. A good mechanic is hard to find, and I'm always happy to support a local business. I thought I needed the undercarriage splash shield of my car repaired, but they told me they just re-attached it and charged me nothing, asking me to just "think of [them]" next time. I spent $1300 at another independent shop for them to give me a quote of $11,000+ for repairs and making me feel horrible and like my car would fall apart if I didn't repair it with them.
