Blackberry Earl Grey Scone, Iced Matcha Latte
    Dana S.

Nicely designed shop, very warm feel. Wifi available. Most seats don't have outlets. Offering mugs for dining in instead of only disposable cups would improve the experience. The barista was super friendly and was patient while I was deciding what to order and then digging in my bag for my mug. I had a blackberry earl grey scone and an iced matcha latte. The scone was a good earl grey scone but it contained only 1 blackberry. I would say the quality of the matcha latte was pretty good. I'm hoping I just got unlucky with the scarcity of blackberries in my scone. I would come back to give them another chance if I was in Cloverdale again. I was glad they were open so early (7 am) on the weekend.

I admit, BOGO coupons can work very well on me, because that is what brought me to the Cloverdale location one chilly Sunday afternoon. I had wanted to buy two drinks and settle into the cafe for some quiet time reading, but alas everyone had a similar idea and the small but eclectic looking cafe was comfortably filled. The place looks quite small from the outside, but the layout is more long/deep than wide. Would have been a great study spot for my student days, had I lived closer. Menu has the standard items plus a few more that I had never heard of, including Aztec Hot Cocoa. I appreciated the staff explaining the details of the drink to me, and once I heard that the Aztec Hot Cocoa had Cayenne Pepper in there (so be warned, spicy!) I immediately bought one and took it home to my husband because he is a huge spicy fan. Hopefully the next time I visit I will be able to order a coffee and enjoy it inside the cafe.

It was a nice day outside! The first nice spring weather. I found this place randomly. I like the decor of the place! I love wood, earth colors. And they have plenty of it. Nice long table and seats. Efficient use of space. They sell different kinds of sandwiches as well and packaged coffee beans which I think is quite popular. Saw several people ordering them for their home espresso machine. The staff or the supervisor is nice and knowledgeable. I was told they are busy earlier during the day and becomes quiet in the afternoon. They close early though, which makes sense if there's not enough crowed during that time.

Doesn't look much when you walk past it. Definition of hole in the wall. But inside definitely have it's own character. It is cozy and very friendly. The baristas were very helpful to customers who are undecided. They have a lot of hot and cold drinks in their menu plus they also have a variety of baked goods, sandwiches and soup with reasonable prices. Too bad they didn't have brownies. Good working spaces in their tables - can definitely work on my laptop here all day while drinking their delicious coffee and eating their food.

Found a number of different menu items, and I though coffee had all been done. There is a maple latte I really liked. I knew of London fog but how about London smog (has a shot of chocolate)? My wife enjoyed her Spanish latte (made with condensed milk for sweetness).

White hot chocolate with whip (did not try) Hazelnut latte delicious Butter croissant (not warmed)

I went here today for coffee and was so surprised at how good it was. My hazelnut latte was delicious. Strong coffee taste but not overbearingly intense. Real hazelnut flavour didn't taste at all like syrup flavouring even though it was. The butter croissant perfect. There was a special going on w/ soup served with focaccia bread and a couple beside me got it and it smelt and looked amazing. They had a large selection of sandwiches too so I will be back to try more. I also liked the overall vibe. It was busy but not overly loud. It would be a good place to read a book, study or get some office work done. The young man who served me was also very polite and sincere. I wish I got his name.

Place overall is very nice. The food options are pretty solid. Definitely expensive coffee but the quality does make up for it

A great place to set up and work for the day! I'm a fan of the Dark Roast here and Adele's turkey club is a must!

Gratia is our go to for coffee and breakfast when we're in town. Staff is friendly and the line…read more(when there is one), moves swiftly. Their pastries are amazing, love their pistachio croissants with chocolate, and their pot pie, and Benny's. Great bagels and breakfasts also. In the afternoon it s a nice quiet place to work (free WiFi) or recharge over a quiet coffee and snack.

1 Star -- Discriminatory and Hostile Toward Disabled Patrons…read more My experience at Gratia Café was deeply upsetting and reflects a profound lack of understanding of -- or respect for -- disability rights. I am a disabled individual who relies on a legitimate, clearly identifiable service dog. Rather than being treated with basic courtesy and professionalism, I was subjected to hostile behavior, scrutiny, and exclusionary conduct that made it unmistakably clear I was not welcome. Staff acted as though they were entitled to question or challenge the presence of a service dog, despite the fact that this is explicitly prohibited under British Columbia human rights law. Let me be very clear: Businesses do not get to interrogate disabled patrons, demand explanations of medical need, or treat service dogs as optional accommodations. A service dog is not a pet, and access is not conditional on staff approval, comfort, or personal beliefs. What made this experience particularly distressing was the demeaning tone and dismissive attitude shown throughout the interaction. Instead of de-escalation or accommodation, the situation was handled in a way that felt humiliating, stigmatizing, and discriminatory. Disabled people should never be made to feel like a problem simply for existing in public spaces with the supports they require. Accessibility is not a "preference" or a branding choice -- it is a legal and ethical obligation. Until Gratia Café undertakes serious staff training on disability rights, service animals, and inclusive customer service, I cannot recommend this establishment to disabled patrons or allies. This experience was not just disappointing -- it was unacceptable.
