I was doing some shopping at Costco and came across great reviews about a nearby chai place. As a…read morechai lover, I had to give it a try. I ordered the Karak chai, and it was absolutely delicious! The sweetness and spice levels were perfectly balanced. They also offer a Pink Chai, which is a sweeter version of Karak. I'm so glad I stopped by this charming little café.

It was really quiet inside when we arrived on a Monday long weekend morning at 10AM but that's partially probably because they're still new. Service was awesome - our server was really kind and attentive. We ordered the karak chai, pink chai and falooda mango shake to drink and all three were really tasty. The chais tasted authentic and were sweetened well. The mango shake was equally flavourful; our only critique is we wished the consistency was more like a smoothie and less liquidy. For food we ordered the omelette buns, omelette rotis, savoury French toast, paratha, and samosa chaat. We absolutely loved the omelette bun and roti - the omelette was perfectly spiced and well seasoned and you have the option of adding onions, tomatoes, chillies, and cheese. The buns were so soft and buttery. We also really enjoyed the paratha and found the filling to dough ratio was perfect but the dipping sauce it came with tasted more like a honey mustard and we wished it came with dahi or chutney instead. The savoury French toast was the only dish we didn't really care for - I would have preferred if it wasn't made into a sandwich with marbled cheese in the middle and was rather served like traditional French toast. All in all this place is a great addition to the neighbourhood and we can't wait to come back to try other things on their menu! We'd be back again and again just for the chai omelette buns alone *drool*.

Our youngest Son went to this long time business this morning and let me know that we should give…read moreit a try. As we hadn't had breakfast yet, the lovely K and I took her Mom along with us. I have driven by this little spot at 5 corners in Langley thousands of times, so we were happy to finally stop in. The building itself is very cool having originally been built in 1888 and was the general store. PY Porter bought the store in 1916, and the Porter name has been on the building since. Today it is a coffee house, restaurant and music venue. All three of us ordered the daily special, the lovely K the pancakes and breakfast sausage and Kris and I the farmer sausage, eggs and potatoes with toast. The farmer sausage was wonderful, the potatoes properly made and beautifully cooked. No Sysco truck delivering the sides for sure. My cappuccino was mostly foam, with little coffee, although the lovely K said hers was great, so a saw off. There are plenty of things to entice, with baked goods, prepared sandwiches and a wide variety of trinkets offered in the early 20th century interior. There sure won't be a century pass before they see our faces again.

Thursday is one of their live music nights. It starts at…read more6:30 but you need to get there early if you want a seat. The food is average or minus. I didn't find it to be good value. Service was slow. Music was pretty good. It is old Langley heritage. Worth a go if you're looking for an experience out of the ordinary.
