Both drinks were made exceptionally well; impressively smooth, foamy, balanced, and clearly prepared with care rather than just being an afterthought. What really makes this place special is the atmosphere. The vibe feels genuinely inclusive and community-driven, with thoughtful touches like the pop-up bookstore featuring books on race, gender, and queer authors. It feels like a space built for connection, not just coffee. I also love how it transforms depending on the day. The daytime café energy is cozy and welcoming, while on select nights they stay open longer, serve alcohol, and host regular events like DJ nights, board game nights, and other community gatherings. It gives the space a lot of personality and makes it feel alive beyond the usual coffee shop experience. Definitely one of those places that feels more like a neighborhood hub than just a café. What a hidden gem! I loved the matcha and the barista was so nice :) I was surprised to see that they have both matcha and hojicha on their menu. The matcha taste was not too strong and not the umami matcha but still good nonetheless. I got it with oat milk instead and there wasn't an up charge. It doesn't come with sweetener and u can taste the matcha without it much more but I added 2 pumps of sugar and found that it increased the oat milk taste too much. I would recommend 1-1.5 pumps of liquid sugar (the barista helped me put it in so just ask!). The inside of the cafe was quite cute and they even had a little clothing rack selling second hand items like clothes and shoes! The space is quite big and spacious and has seating at the back as well and washrooms. read more

Solid bites! Their carrot lox toast is very delicious and fresh. Their menu items have always been plant based and "plant-forward" and I definitely have an appreciation for that. Their coffee could be better though. The cappuccino tasted a little sour and a little watered down, but I did overhear that they were behind on drinks so maybe they were rushing? 200th review! :) Nice coffee place tucked away in New West. Been wanting to try this out for a while now since this always pops up on my Yelp search for coffee shops in Burnaby/New West area. Paid parking is available on the street. The coffee shop as a hipster and industrial vibe to it. Hubby and I both ordered a small latte (oat milk for me) plus a peanut butter cookie (GF/V). Coffee was good, a bit roasted and acidic at first but it mellowed down after. We both loved the peanut butter cookie -- it was soft and gooey where you can taste the peanut butter and sweetness was just right. We wanted to get another PB cookie but they ran out. Will def come back for the cookie hahaha Wifi was ok, password is posted by the cashier area. It can get a bit full and there might be a queue at times but it's ok. This cafe has more seating available compared to the other one along this street. Been back several times but the peanut butter cookie has been elusive to us. I liked this coffee shop for a while, but I love this place more today. just share my experience, I sat on the back side of the table sheet, and I was chatting with a friend. I just lost my family a couple of weeks ago and I was crying a bit. One of the staff brought a chamomile tea for me with a very kind smile for service. I didn't know when they saw my crying but it was so kind and made me feel warm and appreciated this kindness. I'm not a coffee connoisseur. I usually find it bitter and need to doctor it with milk and sugar. But after trying flat white in Australia (arguably they have really good coffee that Starbucks failed there), I am now a convert. Unfortunately there are not that many coffee places which do a good flat white in Vancouver. I'm glad Old Crow is also in New Westminster. I used to go to Old Crow on commercial drive when I used to work in the area (the drive has lots of such coffee places!). I have been there a few times and the flat white I had here so far was hit and miss. Sometimes it's good, sometimes it's not. I'm not sure if it's the crema or what but it lacks the microfoam richness. A good flat white means I don't need to add sugar to my coffee and it has a creamy mouthfeel. I do like this place as it is away from the busy Columbia street. It is fairly cozy and I love the wood inside. read more

I like that this place serves fresh homemade food. I got the avo toast, and it was pretty average. Nice ripe avocado but other than that it was something I could easily make at home, particularly as it is just served on regular sandwich loaf bread (sourdough, but still). The toast was $6.75. Compare that with the $6 veggie sandwich I got from the place up the street, which had all the same ingredients plus some extras like cheese, cucumbers and tomato, and it's not a great deal. Anyways, I still like the vibe here and there is a lot of seating. It's a pretty big space and there are some toys for little kids to be entertained while parents chill. It's nice they have a variety of non-dairy milks, and they have water glasses and a carafe out for people to self-serve. I do wish they were open later into the evening, as I've tried to come here a couple times before and it was closed. Essentially I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, but if you need a spot to meet for coffee and a light bite with a friend or spend some time on your laptop, this would be a good option in the area. read more

Very quaint coffee shop with great prices. Loved the ambiance. Stopped by in the morning to work on some stuff and grabbed a cafe au lait. It's very smooth coffee with the cute milk pattern. Normally I have a hard time drinking coffee without adding creamer or other flavoring but this coffee was a pleasure to drink from beginning to end. Went here for the first time today. I would have never known it was there if I hadn't seen it one night when I went to Friday's on Front. Had a cool vibe, loved the music (early 2000's hip hop) I ordered the "negg salad" which is a vegan egg salad made with chickpeas rather than egg. I'm not vegan but it sounded interesting. To drink I got a vanilla almond milk latte. My order was taken quickly but the food took a little while. I didn't mind as I wasn't in a rush but it did take about 10-15 min. Both the latte and negg salad toast were great. It did taste pretty close to egg salad and I loved the thinly sliced pear with a drizzle of olive oil and salt and pepper on top. I've come here twice and I may have come in on some off-days. I bookmarked this spot because I love a damn good cup of coffee and the reviews said that this is what Old Crow is known for. So I was happy to finally come in and check them out. A few things I liked: + They do serve up a damn good cup of coffee. I had an oat milk latte and I pretty much chugged it because it was that good. + Cozy space with plenty of sofas, tables, chairs, and outlets. They have it set up for you to hang out for a little while. + They have a small little cafe menu with delicious looking sandwiches and snacks. I didn't get food the two times I was here, but I wouldn't mind trying that avo toast of theirs. A few reasons why I was disappointed: + One of the times I went in they turned off the AC on a hot summer day! I asked if they could turn it back on because it seemed like everybody was sweating their souls out, but their answer was "sorry, we don't want the fans to blow the upstairs curtain away". I wasn't sure what this meant and unfortunately it did not solve the heat problem. I ended up leaving earlier than intended because I was not a fan of sitting in a humid room to do work. I mean, at least they said sorry? + The other time I came in, their main bathroom was out of order. There was another bathroom in the back that they directed us to, but it was filthy and had no toilet paper. I let the barista know there wasn't any TP and all she said was "Oops." + The wifi kept giving out. For someone who works from their laptop and relies on a solid wifi connection, this was getting a little frustrating. + A few of their employees kept running around and screaming very loudly about events that had happened over the weekend. Honestly, some things may not have been the most appropriate things to be yelling about in a semi-full coffee shop. I mean, I usually don't mind that stuff, but since I was already annoyed about how hot it was in there, I think this got to me a bit more. This place is probably my favourite cafe in New West. It's a bit hidden away by the Quay, but it's so worth the treasure hunt! My friend and I came by to grab a bite and catch up, and we loved the decor and overall feel of the cafe. Seating is somewhat limited on the inside, and there were a few students studying, so know that if you're wanting to come with a big crowd, it might be challenging to stay in. As for food and drinks, my friend got a mocha while I got a chai latte. We also got the avo toast and veggie muffalettaz. Everything was awesome! I've heard many people raving about this place, so I decided to check it out. I came in with a friend around 12ish and decided to get a chai latte and the harvest af sandwich. (note: I originally wanted to get the avocado toast after hearing so many great things about it, but it they were 'all out'.) My chai latte was ready in just a few minutes, but I waited TWENTY MINUTES for my sandwich (It wasn't even called out, I had to check with a staff member because my food was taking so long)! The harvest af was pretty good, I would recommend it, and it came with a small portion of salad on the side, and my chai latte was average (I gotta say, Starbucks wins this one). The staff was pretty friendly, (though I did notice that it took them a while to get through other customers orders) and I loved the industrial style interior. I'm not a really picky person and usually I don't leave reviews. My husband and I went to this coffee shop on Mothers Day because we were buying their bar stools. We ordered a london fog while we were waiting. I'm not sure if it was an off day for the staff but they weren't particularly friendly to either of us. They almost completely avoided eye contact. So much so that I asked my husband afterward if there was an issue before we arrived at the coffee shop. He said he picked up on the same vibe as I did and wasn't sure what it was. The london fog itself wasn't bad. The food smelt pretty good but I didn't order anything from there. I don't think my husband felt that comfortable prolonging our interaction while we were there by ordering food. I love the food and beverages here. My favourite is the breakfast Sammy and the Masala chai. Everything is really fresh. But the cashier and front line staff here just seem really miserable...today when I went in the lady at the counter gave my 60 year old mother attitude about taking off lemon and chilli from her sandwich. My mom is sensitive to those ingredients. "We don't normally do super customized things" what do you mean? We come here fairly often and have never had a problem doing this. I suppose she may have just been having an off day...but my mom was so upset by this she said she wasn't coming back. This is something that you don't often find in the suburbs. So I was surprised to find this in Old Crow Coffee which is located in the heart of New Westminster. Firstly, I love their interior. With exposed brick walls, antique furniture, cozy armchairs, and window views of the Fraser River, this is a place where you can have your morning cup and just breathe, read a book, or gather your thoughts before your day whisks you away. After hearing several recommendations, I tried their iced caramel macchiato and I was not disappointed. It was sweet without being overly sweet. The gentle caramel flavours did not overwhelm the taste of the roasted coffee beans in any way. While I did not try their foods, I will certainly be coming back for a breakfast or lunch sometime. So New West finally gets a hipster coffee bar. It's on a back street, called Front Street, and it's got art and white space and room to spare. They do pour overs and espressos and fancy sandwiches and charcuterie boards, but how lovely that there's good old regular drip coffee too. I think it's a fancy artisan brand; I enjoyed a freshly made cup with a walk along the riverfront. They were playing Led Zeppelin when I was there, and they have a pretty cool collection of vintage mugs to drink from "for here." Rock on, Old Crow, rock on. This place is really hard to find specially with the road construction going on just in the Front street, if not for yelp i dont think id be able to find this place. I ordered a small latte and a ham and cheese croissant. My barista offered me to warm my food then made me my good looking latte. Lighting is perfect and not overwhelming, seats are comfortable (uncomfortable enough so you don't fall asleep lol), and the view is great. They have couches which seems ideal for having a meeting.
