Lovely location and good staff that provide attentive service . Restrooms require a code from staff but our clean . Only downside is you will need to pay for parking on the surrounding streets if you drive there . read more

We started our day of Grad dress shopping for my youngest daughter at Waves Cafe! We ordered some drinks and a few treat to share. Pumpkin Loaf 3/5 Cranberry Orange Muffin 3/5 Spinach and Feta Pastry 5/5 I was really impressed with the Spinach and Feta Pastry that we tried the pastry was flaky and the filling was cheesy and delicious. Not much for seating options inside, but understandably so due to the pandemic. Ordered a 16oz hazelnut latte, received a 12oz cappuccino. Staff seem to lack confidence or proper training. Definitely has potential though. read more

I love the ceiling. It was discovered hidden under false ceiling when they were renovating for Waves. Gorgeous place to sit and sip a hot Canadiano. Staff is pleasant and friendly. Usually it is just great. Baristas are eager to please and to fulfill our coffee whims with a smile. There have been times when I was annoyed at knitting groups taking our comfy seats. By this I mean that we were told to move!!! It happened 4 times and I did not return for several months; also extremely disliked men using the ladies so we have to wait and wait while the big dirty burly construction workers, and others, have their lengthy bathroom times, and wait when they have their own facility to use; used to be too many massage therapy students hogging seats for several hours and some other things such as unruly children running about as if they are at home but generally it is just fine and I really enjoy going there. they were open both Christmas day and New Year day to my great delight and scores of others mutual delight. read more

Seems like this location does not have any manager on site to maintain a certain customer service standard. I'm a regular customer, the inconsistency of the service is very frustrating, staff no knowing the combo and over charge you on the regular basis, very very few of the staff are friendly and personal. Sometimes if I'm lucky, someone is cranky and not holding back her attitude, like today. I mentioned politely to the girl my order should be a combo deal, she rolled her eyes and told me it's my job to let her know prior placing the order because some custom doesn't want the deal....I don't know anyone would prefer to pay extra money for the same order. TLDR: If you want a relaxing coffee shop experience, with quality service go to any of the other coffee shops in the area. My most recent experience at Waves unfortunately means I will likely not be returning. My husband and I came to waves to relax, grab a bite, and work on some writing projects early this morning. We were disappointed when the barista missed part of our order to service a regular in line behind us. Not a big deal. My bagel was toasted but alongside two packages of cream cheese on the side. Even Tim Horton's does the courtesy of giving you a toasted bagel with cream cheese already spread. By the time my coffee orders were ready, my bagel was no longer warm and I had to try and spread hard, cold cream cheese onto my plain toasted bagel. For the price, I expect MUCH better service. And to really complete this particular experience, the only two available tables were both so wobbly we couldn't actually sit at them with our laptops and try to get work done. What a disappointment. When I was in New Westminster on numerous occasions for wedding errands, I always found an excuse to stop at Waves Coffee House for some tea. This Waves location is really nice and clean, with plenty of natural light and tasteful decor. The coffee shop is really long and narrow, with bar seating along the window and tables with comfy chairs in the back of the store. There's also plenty of seating outside if you want to enjoy the weather. The washroom requires a code to unlock it, but it is very clean if you need one in the area. I've found the service here to be nothing but great. I really enjoy the London Fogs here, and they have a great selection of loose leaf tea. If you're in the market for something different, the african rooibos shaken iced tea with either peach, mango, lemon, or blackberry flavoring is worth trying out. The food always looks good here, and I've heard great things, but I can't attest for its quality. My favorite experience here is grabbing a tea at the counter, and then sitting by the window and watching the construction workers across the street. I like the Waves Coffee franchise in general, and the newest location, located just below Waves' head office in New Westminster, is just beautiful. They've renovated an old bank space to great effect; for example, the chandeliers along the high ceilings hang from round podiums painted the signature blue Waves colour. The space is long and narrow, with loads of seating bathed in light from the big windows, and a long counter along the other side. We Vancouverites love to sit outside our coffee houses, and this Waves has a lot of sidewalk seating, including two tables up on a podium adjoining the door, and some others next to the garden beds set into the sidewalk. Waves also has better food than the other coffee chains, I've found, whether its their paninis or carrot cakes - I think they make it in house, as you can see there is a kitchen behind the counter. So why not five stars? Well, frankly, my enormous latte tasted a bit burnt and was not the smooth drink I've come to expect. I hope they work that little bug out so I can say the product here is as flawless as the atmosphere. read more

This is my saturday or sunday morning coffee shop! I take little dog and go for walk to Waves. It has great coffee and nice seating outside. Wish it had a bit more seating inside for the rainy days, but don't we all! read more

I don`t know whats wrong with this branch , staff training all the time , unfriendly and unprofessional , confusion with the order and payment. I ordered Latte with skim milk , i observed the Barista using Homo Milk , When i confronted her she gave me attitude. The coffee is very good beyond doubt but the customer service is very poor. duty managers are supposed to be role model for excellent customer service not for bad customer service. The staff don't seem to know what they are doing; new employees are training other new employees. They have screwed up my coffee card more than once by taking off money and points and telling me there is nothing on my card (after they have asked me to scan the card multiple times). In the past, they have made mistakes on my drink orders. The uptown location is MUCH better than downtown. Once my coffee card is fixed (again) I am 100% not going back to the Columbia Street location! read more

This Waves location is absolutely gorgeous. It's in a beautiful old brick heritage building with high ceilings and big windows. Every time I've come here it's been late at night, so there's always been lots of seating to choose from. Their coffee isn't my favorite, but their tea lattes are really good. I frequent this location often as I work in the area. I am not hard to please and have a lot of experience in customer service. The staff here have offered me the most unfriendly, rude service I think I have gotten anywhere. I walk in and the tension and attitude is tangible. I don't believe I have ever gotten a smile. There were also 2 incidents which were just ridiculous. Incident One - Paid for a drink, the moneris machine said the payment went through. Apparently, not on their computers end. The girl walked to the area where I was waiting to get my drink and said "Your card declined. You're not getting this drink" I responded saying that it said approved on the machine and proceeded to show her the charge on my online banking app. She said absolutely not and withheld my drink from me and rolled her eyes when I told her I wouldn't be paying twice for a drink. She told me their machine sometimes charges people and then gives the money back? Never ever heard of his. You also don't treat people with that level of disrespect. She was so accusatory and basically yelled across the shop like I had no money and was trying to steal. There was no care at all, when it was their screw up! Incident two - Went down to get a vegetarian calzone and a drink, paid with no problems. She then grabs a vegetarian wrap not the calzone. I walked over and politely said "Hey I think I ordered the Calzone not the wrap, sorry!" I didn't want her to go to the effort just to have it wrong. I would never order the wrap...I hate olives. So instead of being like "Oh, sorry, no problem." She says "Uhm no you said wrap." I said "No, I said Calzone." She then proceeded to say "I read you back the order...and I said wrap so...." LIKE WHAT THE HELL? She then grabbed the calzone and through out the other one which was a dollar cheaper then what she charged me for. Didn't offer to get the difference back --- whatever, its a dollar...just give me my calzone so I can get the hell out of here. She proceeded to say "Well...its gunna be another two minutes now." This normally wouldn't be a big deal to me...but this girl was speaking to me like I was a full blown idiot. MORAL OF THE STORY - these girls are awful. This place seriously needs to do some housecleaning. There was only one girl I ever had a good experience with there and she was IN TRAINING. read more

I really love their green ma cha latte . Its my fave!!! Since having a baby I've been going there more often, and the doors kill me. They are so heavy and I cab barely get in every time. I struggle to get in, and every time I do, I say forget it Im not going in... but i love that latte! I wish they would get new doors, i know my elderly mom would not be able to pull it open, or anyone in a wheelchair. I really hope they read this and make some adjustments. great service tho. It's close to New West train station which is why I like it, however, I find that their drinks are sub par, especially their lattes in terms of chains. Customer service is always good which is appreciated. There is a lot of seating inside, however, good luck fighting for an outlet. read more

At least at Starbucks down the street if the wi-fi slows I can turn off my iPad and turn it back on again and get right back in. But at Waves? Once you're out, you're out! I've come to this location a few times with friends. It's in a central location close to the skytrain and shops in downtown New West. The atmosphere is awesome. The downside is that I don't find the drinks or food to be particularly great. The cookies and croissants are just ok... the lemon poppyseed muffins are meh. You're better off saving your $2.95 and buying something at Tim Hortons. read more

I hate this place. They have made it as unfriendly as possible. I watch the staff gather and throw out all every newspaper or scrap of reading material so that customers are encouraged to order and leave. A total money grab. People like to go out for a coffee and sit down for 20 minutes and maybe have a look at a local newspaper to see whats going on. Forget it at this clip joint. Why they bother to have tables and chairs is beyond me. I know trying to find a clean table is next to impossible. Try the Old Crow around the corner. Why 2 stars? 1/ The chairs are excruciatingly noisy when dragged on the stone floor, making conversation a series of "excuse mes". 2/ I have seen this location passing off a quarter cup of cold coffee topped with hot coffee giving one a warm cup in the end. Asked for new. Corp. practices I'm sure. 3/ Ordered a Canadiano and got brown lukewarm sludge which I'm almost positive was recycled grounds. Promptly returned and ask for regular carafe coffee instead and was surprised to see how black it was compared to the brown sludge they had pawned off on me. Only reason for 2 whole stars is because they have good Wi-Fi. read more

Just here on vacation. The staff was courteous and knowledgeable, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the coffee was outstanding (cafe mocha & caramel macchiato)! The breakfast bagel sandwich was phenomenal-- better than expected from a coffee house. The chocolate croissant and oatmeal fruit muffin were also great. We will definitely be going back during our stay in Vancouver (New Westminster). read more
