On my last trip to Van I stayed in New West, about 3 minutes walk from Serious Coffee, so I stopped by here on some of my mornings for a coffee and breakfast. I got the iced latte each time which I liked, the coffee has a nice bold flavor. I also appreciate that they have sugar free sweeteners and flavoring syrup, and also that they don't make it too sweet, just right! For breakfast I got the lumberjack wrap which was just ok. After I ordered it I noticed they had a protein wrap in the display case, but it's not on the overhead menu. I would've liked to try that also, but I didn't get a chance. Overall, decent local coffee shop, I would definitely come here again. Oh, and they BLAST the AC super cold in here, which I personally appreciate, but I did hear a few others comment that it was too cold for them.

A great addition to New West coffee scene and it is opened daily early in the morning too. I used to drive over to Delta on Sunday mornings for my coffee fix as those in new west were either not opened on Sunday or open after 12 pm. Fast forward a few years later and now there are more options. The location is great if you live in the downtown NW area or take transit as it is right round the corner. Driving is tricky due to parking. I had the traditional flat white which was pretty good. The coffee was strong and the crema/microfoam bit was spot on. The only thing I did not like was the sour aftertaste, that could be due to the beans used? The flat white itself was not acidic though. I also tried the cinnamon bun which seemed to be very popular here and was frequently sold out. It was nice but not wow for me. I will be back for the coffee and to try the food.

Very lovely and welcoming staff. Biggest perk in my opinion is that they offer milk alternatives for no additional charge, so as a lactose intolerant human I'm very glad for this option! Americano w/ oat milk $4.70 (after tax) - Medium size Good size and price. Smooth & strong coffee that's not overly acidic or bitter. There's a sign by the barista's counter that says they will remake any drink that isn't up to your standards, which I find comforting that they value their quality. Great place to grab a coffee and enjoy on one of their outside patio tables.

Such a gem in New West!…read more My partner and I just went here for coffee today and he ordered a cappuccino, while I got myself a matcha latte. Both drinks were made exceptionally well; impressively smooth, foamy, balanced, and clearly prepared with care rather than just being an afterthought. What really makes this place special is the atmosphere. The vibe feels genuinely inclusive and community-driven, with thoughtful touches like the pop-up bookstore featuring books on race, gender, and queer authors. It feels like a space built for connection, not just coffee. I also love how it transforms depending on the day. The daytime café energy is cozy and welcoming, while on select nights they stay open longer, serve alcohol, and host regular events like DJ nights, board game nights, and other community gatherings. It gives the space a lot of personality and makes it feel alive beyond the usual coffee shop experience. Definitely one of those places that feels more like a neighborhood hub than just a café. I'll be visiting a lot more soon!

There's a cool back parlour area with well appointed booths to hide out in and socialize and a curated weekly music and events schedule that will suit a variety of tastes, from electronic to more indie and folk fare. Will definitely be back - just be careful not to come on a Monday or Tuesday as they are closed those days.

Most…read moreof the tables were taken, and we took this as a good sign that it might be worth a visit. My first impression was 'wow is there a lot of choice on this menu!' For drinks they have multiple types of hot chocolates and an array of non-coffee beverages - maybe I have found my new spot... We ordered a Pumpkin Chai Latte and a Pumpkin Spice Belgian Hot Chocolate and a Macadamia Marble Cookie. I like that for their hot chocolate you get to choose if it's milk or dark, I opted for dark. We found a table and I do appreciate the table signs that say to limit your visit to one hour. Honestly, more places should do this to stop people from treating a cafe like their living room or a library. I do feel like Delicia is on the overpriced side for what it serves. The latte was almost $7 and the hot chocolate was $8. I don't think that the drinks aren't worth it, it feels like mixed powder and nothing note worthy. When a menu is too big, it makes me question what is actually good, because even for a small cafe, you can't do everything good. To top it off, our cookie had a hair on the plate, very unappetizing. I don't think that I'll be back.

The cultural lineage of this place is certainly interesting, since from what I understand, this is…read morethe only Canadian location of an Indian restaurant from Japan. The restaurant is beautiful with both Indian and Japanese design sensibilities. They have a table service restaurant with both high tea and an extensive a la carte menu, and it looks like you can also buy mithai in bulk. The food isn't really Japanese-Indian fusion as you might expect, but more like Japanese impression of Indian food, if that makes sense? There's a few hints of Japanese and Asian influence, but the menu is mostly modern Indian. All vegetarian. There's no vegan or gluten free options for afternoon tea, but the a la carte menu includes many clearly labeled vegan and GF dishes. I wanted to try the afternoon tea set to get a wide sampling of their offerings. The set included: corn spinach puff, paneer tikka slider, cream cheese cucumber sandwich, samosa, chutneys for dipping, manchurian skewers, orange cranberry scone with whipped cream, rose rasmalai cake, dodha crunch, motichoor cheesecake parfait, and the choice between masala chai, coffee, or hot/iced caffe latte. It's $32/person for the set, which is a great price. I also appreciated that it was possible to order the set for just one person since it seems like many teahouses will only do it for 2+ people. I thought all of the items in the set were pretty good, and there was a balance between the sweet and savoury items. The only things that really left anything to be desired were that the scone was a bit dry and crumbly, and I thought the tandoori paneer could have been more flavourful. In general the flavours of the savoury items were a bit more subtle than in typical authentic Indian food, but for the most part it didn't come across as bland to me, just a different take on it. The standouts in the set were: the paneer slider - even if the paneer itself didn't impress, I loved the almost flaky texture of the pav - the manchurian, and the rose rasmalai cake. Also, the cream cheese cucumber sandwich had cilantro or chutney or something in the cream cheese which made it much more interesting than the plain version of this sandwich. The masala chai (my chosen drink) was also very good. It was served in a pot that contained 2 small servings. My waiter was very friendly and stopped by a few times to check in. When I was done eating and wanted my bill, it was easy to get his attention. I visited at what seemed like a quiet time so I didn't have much competition for attention. One thing that I thought was odd was when he gave me the machine to pay, there was no tip option - it would be cool if they had a no-tip policy, but I never saw any mention of it, so I wonder if he accidentally bypassed the tip when putting in my charge. It was an interesting and very pleasant experience. I was so curious about this place that I made a trip out from Vancouver just to try it (and couldn't get anyone willing to go to Surrey for afternoon tea with me, hence the afternoon tea order for one), and it was worth the trip!
