Small and lovely space made even lovelier by the excellent coffee and kind staff. Don't miss the Cruller!

Do you ever go into a cafe and think this is my vibe? Well this was it for me. I've been wanting to check out this small neighborhood Japanese cafe. Finally today was the day. I live about 5 minutes drive and often go to a couple of the other local Indian stores around. Lots of free street parking. This small unassuming cafe is full of charm. Walked in and I knew I was going to get a matcha latte. With handful of seating including a comfy couch, some benches outside, I could seat here and watch the world go by or listen to my audiobook like I was doing and be content. The two lovely individuals working was friendly and seems to know locals coming and going, which I love. And the gentlemen had style. My matcha was exactly how I liked it, unsweetened without me having to tell them. The cafe had some baked goods and other things they sold like coffee beans and matcha. I will be back again and again. I love this place!

Super cute little corner cafe! Happened to stumble upon this cafe as I was in the area. The interior was so cozy and gorgeous! This is more of a grab and go spot as it is not very big and very limited seating. I believe this is a family owned spot and the owners (at treats I think they were the owners haha) were very kind and welcoming! I got the a hojicha as I wasn't looking for anything too caffeinated but the menu serious intrigued me! They have your North American coffee classics as well as some Japanese cafe drinks! I need to come back just to try the Japanese latte!

This is a great neighbourhood coffeehouse. We stopped by here after a quick Yelp search. Unfortunately, this is a take out only kind of place. There is no seating to enjoy the coffee. My husband ordered an Americano and I ordered a Kuromatcha latte (matcha and black sugar). Usually, I like my matcha latte unsweetened, but this version was perfectly lightly sweetened and the sweetness took some of the bitterness of the matcha away. Service was as fast as one person could make drinks. There was a steady line of customers which was a good sign this place is popular. Priced were reasonable too.

Eclectic coffee space well worth a try. Que bella momma barista, loved her cappuccino.

Latte was heavenly, staff is lovely and there are some mega cute gift ideas in there. Beautiful jars of loose tea, honey dippers, bees wax candles and much more.

Cute small shop operating at the corner of a quiet intersection. Offering both coffee and teas, I was going in expecting only a coffee but came out with coffee and tea. Both cappuccino and black sesame tea latte were amazing and would not hesitate to go back for more.

Very cute Japanese coffee shop with lots of character. Kind of like the unique coffee shops I hope to visit in Japan one day. All the customers spoke Japanese in quiet conversation and I could imagine myself transported to Japan. They had a delicious Vienna coffee special for the price of an americano. All the prices were well priced and if it weren't located so far from me, I would be a regular customer as they roast their own beans and the coffee is good. I also enjoyed a red bean mochi cake and a mochi churro donut with my coffee. Love the classic jazz playing in the background.

Very Unique Coffee Shop in Burnaby / New Westminster area. Easy parking , Bus Stop. Matcha Latte is sooo good.

Handworks Coffee Studio is a welcome change from the plethora of chains and larger commercial operations and reminds me of how local cafes once were. Although reorganized due to the current pandemic, which has resulted in a removal of the seating available inside, I really like the new larger order board hanging behind the now much larger counter space. Still the great product selection in both beverages and roasted beans and service! Their standard roast is very low in acidity which works well with my sometimes sensitive stomach, so I'm finding this my go-to selection for my daily home needs.

One of my favourite coffee shops ever! Only place I will drive to get coffee. I have tried the matcha latte, lavender London fog, and yuzu latte. All sooo good. They also sell teas, food, pastries, and cute little Japanese trinkets! The staff are so friendly and sweet and truly appreciate your business. There has been a line every time I have gone here. I really love this place and it's such a nice treat especially on the weekend!

It is a really nice and cute coffee shop, hidden gem in a weried location. Matcha latte is awesome, original. Never had such a strong Matcha latte here, absolutely love it!

I visited Handworks Coffee Studio today after biking past it few times on my way to downtown New West. It is such a refreshing little gem at a quiet corner on 6th Street. The decoration is lovely and they play great easy listening song. Generally it is a self-run coffee counter by a friendly Japanese gentleman who dedicates his passion on coffee (see their website). Absolutely great coffee, the cappuccino I had was really good. Note that they don't offer cafe styled seats at all. There were few chairs for you to just sit down and sip your coffee. It's also a nice little shop if you want to explore the various Zakkas (little things to improve your home, both vintage and modern Japanese). Important: this is not a good place for first dates (there are no table seats, just chairs). Not great if you bring laptop and want to work. After all it is a studio and not a cafe :)

They sell a bunch of Brazilian snacks but overall the inside of the store looked worn out. We came in on a Sunday morning and no one was at the front. I rang the bell and a young girl came to take our order. She was sweet but looked very stressed. She ran to the back and was on the phone with her boss frantically asking for help. She then came running out and told us it'll be a wait because she needs to get a big order out. I replied no problem and went to grab a seat. After awhile I rang the bell again and asked for a refund and said I would return another time. The girl said she could make the food now. The next few minutes all we heard was the microwave constantly going off and it was clear nothing was made fresh. Feijoada: apparently this is their most popular dish and I liked the vibrant colours. However the pork was overcooked and nothing tasted fresh except for the slice of orange. Strogonoff: the creamy sauce was not bad but it was so salty we were really thirsty after. The chicken was overcooked. Coxinha: I was excited to try tradition Brazilian croquettes but these were clearly frozen and again didn't taste fresh.

It looked like a coffee shop with their drinks and cakes, but also serves some Brazilian staples (feijoada, coxinha etc.). The theme is definitely on the casual side. There is a nice small covered patio in front. My biggest complaint was that the service was just atrocious. When I walked in, there was 1 customer in front of me. She was jabbering with the staff in Portuguese. The staff (both of them) saw me standing there and just ignored me. After a minute, I grabbed a menu off the table and stood there holding it. They looked at me again and kept on chatting with that customer. After a few minutes, another (3rd) customer arrived. This customer was confused too, as she couldn't tell if there was a lineup, since I was just standing around staring at the gaggle behind the counter. She then stood behind me and also waited for a few minutes, while the staff continued to ignore both of us. Total wait time was 12-13 minutes(!) before someone behind the counter decided to acknowledge our existence. Considering there were a total of 3 customers (not including a small group already seated), this is quite unacceptable. It was like the staff were there to socialize. The staff are obviously local Brazilians, as the cashier didn't have the best English. He didn't know what decaf was. Fortunately I had Google Translate. I ordered a flat white. They make this thing automatically with the push of a button. In other words, the coffee machine is similar to those found at car dealerships. I guess the redeeming factors was that the coffees here are quite inexpensive, and the flat white tasted decent for a generic coffee. My other complaint is that the cakes aren't made in house. Looks like they're made by a local bakery (Sinatra's). Price is definitely on the high side, but the carrot cake I had was very decent. I really wanted to like this place, but honestly have trouble recommending it. The service was atrocious, the coffees are office/gas station grade, and the cakes can just be obtained directly from the bakery supplier. Guess I'm going elsewhere for my next coffee/dessert fix.

Unfortunately, the lobster melt is no longer available on the menu or that would be my favourite. Bastion is a popular place for coffee drinkers to work on their laptops here, because there are outlets available by the round table area that looks into the gym.
