A beautiful cafe/roaster in the Burnaby SFU area. This location is much larger thank their OG Vancouver store, it bright, spacious with a little outdoor seating. The parking is convenient just on Sperling off Hastings They also offer some pastries as well. Service was good, the staff let me know that the cappuccino is a one-size (6oz) only Really enjoyed their latte!

we were really thirsty after lunch and decided to duck into jj bean on hastings for a matcha latte…read morewith oat milk. first impression? airy, bright, and wonderfully spacious. the big windows flood the café with natural light, and there's plenty of seating whether you're flying solo or catching up with a friend. it's clean, calm, and surprisingly quiet, the kind of place where you can actually hear your own thoughts and hold a proper conversation without competing with background noise. the vibe strikes that sweet spot between modern and cozy. terrazzo tabletops, soft bench seating, comfy chairs, and oversized dome pendant lights that look like they might be made from recycled materials, they honestly reminded me of those soft egg cartons, but in a chic and sustainable way. it feels warm and welcoming without trying too hard. our matcha latte with oat milk was subtle, smooth and earthy, nicely balanced, not too grassy and i skipped adding any sweetener. it was okay for a mid afternoon pick me up, not the most memorable matcha i've had, and the latte art could definitely use a little polish. right at the counter there's a tempting display of baked goods: pastries, muffins, and sweet treats lined up like they're daring you to add "just one more thing." if you're feeling brand loyal, there's also branded jj bean coffee and neate donuts merch, tote bags, mugs, tumblers, toques, ball caps and tshirts, making it easy to leave with more than just caffeine. bonus points for the outdoor patio seating. on a nice day, it's a great spot to linger with a drink and soak up some sun. overall, a lovely little pause in the day. bright space, easygoing atmosphere, and a solid drink. we came in for matcha, but honestly stayed for the vibe.

On a recent vacation to Vancouver, my hubs and I drove up to Squamish on our way to visit a friend…read morein Whistler. It's only our second time here but it still has a great, kick-back vibe. Of course we had to stop by our favorite cafe and donut shop, Fox & Oak. Love how they have a good variety of vegan and regular options for the donuts (they have gluten free too). I am not vegan but I can't digest milk protein well so I am always looking for dairy-free and vegan options. We got a vegan cinnamon sugar donut, regular passion fruit donut, and vegan apple fritter with raspberry icing to go. While at Whistler, we broke out all three and shared them before having lunch at Hunter Gather. All the donuts were delish!! We were all impressed by how fresh and soft they all were. Also, I didn't think I'd like the apple fritter with raspberry icing that much but I ended up liking it the most! On our way back from Whistler to Vancouver, we couldn't help it--we stopped and got two more donuts! Yep, it was a double donut day. I am not ashamed to admit it. Don't judge me until you try this place. Thank you, Fox & Oak!

Once we tasted the donuts and coffee we understood why there was a line. 3. We liked sitting outside where you had a nice view and could enjoy the sun.
