Stir is a local staple and a must visit for out of town guests alike. The place isn't large so it's extra nice when the weather is cooperating as there is plenty of extra outdoor seating. The food options I've tried have all been very yummy and fresh. The coffee isn't my favourite brand (Parallel 49) so I typically won't go for my usual black or americano but I'm not mad that it's an excuse to treat myself to a cappuccino with brown sugar. I do LOVE their hot and iced teas which are steeped to perfection before they are served. My search for a good flat white has ended. It can be found here. I hope all the baristas can make it the same way. The flat white is perfect here! See picture for how a flat white should look like. The crema and microfoam which is not thin or easily collapsed. It is not a latte or cappuccino. This is how it tastes like in Australia (where flat white originates, or some kiwis will disagree and say it is from their country). The espresso in the flat white is not bitter and is smooth with no acidic aftertaste. It is slightly stronger than what I am used to but it is still good. There are also baked items and pastries and sandwiches here. The cinnamon buns with the generous slathering of sweet cream cheese frosting called out to me. I just did not expect it to be so big. Literally 4 mini buns in 1. Good thing the cinnamon bun is not very dense so you may not feel like you need to roll out the door after that. It is also sticky and crusty, total yums. I just wish I live closer so that this can be a weekly affair. Great and friendly service. Many regulars here. read more

I've found my new favourite coffee shop! I can't believe it's taken me this long to come to Stir. I'm really kicking myself about it because it's just SO close to me. There's really no excuse for me not coming sooner. Stir is awesome. The baristas are friendly, efficient and make the most delicious coffees. The coffee shop itself is rather small, but there are plenty of tables and chairs for you to post up in to get some work done if you want. There's also a cute little patio for you to enjoy some iced drinks during the summer. I'm also a huge fan of all the treats that they carry - especially To Die For's banana bread. I'm so happy that I can get this banana bread close to home and don't have to go all the way downtown anymore! YASSS. The coffee is exceptional. The tea looks marvelous as well being loose-leaf and served on a special board with a clear decanter. The staff are always friendly and efficient. I've never waited more than five minutes for my latte to go. It's lovely in the warm months to sit out on the patio and soak up a little sun and neighborhood vibes. In winter the inside is typically filled up. I love that they feature photography and art from local artists. As well, they have an annual show of local Instagram photos where they enlarge and hang them all around the shop. It's a lovely community vibe here and the owner is friendly and genuinely appreciates his customers. Oh and I shouldn't forget to mention the lemon loaf. Cute little coffee shop! I actually had to drive someone to Delta Hospital nearby and stopped by here to pass time. I ordered a green tea/matcha latte and it was lovely. They have ample seating - a bunch of smaller tables and one bigger table at the back. It'd be a great place to come and do some work. Came back from Europe and the first stop I have to make is Stir for their chai latte, it's still the most heavenly of all places I've been to. It's made without sweetness so you can adjust to your taste. I like mine with no sweet flavour and strong enough chai spice, and theirs is perfect. I live in the area so I come at least once a week and often 2-3 times a week. I like their sandwiches and to-die-for banana bread and I often make this my lunch stop. This is where the 5th star comes in. I really hope that they switch up their sandwiches offer so that we don't have to order the same sandwiches over and over and over and over again, considering how often we are here. Apart from this potential improvement that can be made, this is such a lovely coffee house, relaxed and chilled, artsy ambience, quiet with friendly staff. Understanding that Covid has changed all the rules, I do expect some kind of customer service when visiting an establishment that has chosen to remain open. I stopped in to Stir Coffee House to get my 3pm fix. I decided that rather than going to Starbucks, I would shop local and support small business. This was THE WORST chai latte I have ever had. First off, it would have been helpful for the staff to tell you that it was traditional chai with no sweetener. That I can handle and like to try different chai lattes. This chai tasted like chemical backwash that nothing could help. Not only did I go back in to ask for sugar, I had to ask for a lid, then a sleeve as well as a stir stick to stir the sugar into the drink. This did not help. By the time I managed to get everything all together on the sidewalk there were other customers lined up. I dumped the chai in the garbage and went to Starbucks down the street. Check out the food here, it is great - I had a BLET sandwich (I think that's what it was called): Bacon, Lettuce, Egg and Tomato on a pannini, served nice and hot and fresh. Coffee is good too, though not outstanding - I just get plain drip when I'm there. On thing that definitely works in their favour is that they offer free pump syrups at their bar station (where you get your milk and sugar and cocoa shakers for your coffee). I was thrilled to see this place pop up in Ladner because the last time I was out that way, my only coffee options were Starbucks and McD's. Yech. They serve 49th parallel coffee and yummy gluten friendly baked goods. I was impressed by the friendly service and the vibe of the place. The wood tables are a nice touch. Washroom was clean and overall feel was kind of hip and small town-like. Great spot to kick back and read a book or newspaper too! I'll be back for sure next time I am in the area.
