Much better than Whistler's roundhouse on account of the crowds and the feeling. The poutines, the noodle bowls, the Thai curry bowl are all magnificent. And of course, if you've turned your legs into mush you can take a leisurely break amidst splendid scenery. And if you want table service, you have Christine's. And for me, the availability of a stiff double espresso to avoid a carb low on the slopes is magnificent.

The Rendezvous Restaurant and Shop atop Blackcomb Mountain

If you are going to rendezvous on Blackcomb Mountain, you'll likely meet up at Rendezvous Lodge. It is the mountain-top food court for warmth, coffee, grub, and $110 hoodies. All of which were welcome discoveries after riding the snow lift up from the village without wearing proper attire in the summer ... because it's still cold and windy on Blackcomb year-round, duh. So, I was actually very thankful for Rendezvous Lodge's little gift shop selling Canadian-red hoodies with a big maple leaf logo and Blackcomb Mountain branding. We were cold and buying a couple hoodies for $200+ was (probably) better than going back down the mountain and up again. Besides, I'll have my "$100 Hoodie" from Whistler as a pricey memory. We also warmed up with a couple lattes from the espresso bar and some pastries. They were actually decent ... especially for not having any competition on the mountain. In the food court, we spied cafeteria sections for burgers, salads, tacos, and Asian-inspired food. On Blackcomb Mountain, Rendezvous Lodge is the place to rendezvous with your friends for warmth, an espresso, some food, or one over-priced memorable piece of clothing.

Ramen and Green curry and peanut butter cookie. Get the green curry!

Alright let's be real, this isn't a 4-star establishment when you compare it to other restaurants, but all things considered, this place is really good and one of my favorite lodges to stop for lunch when I'm in Whistler. The Thai green curry bowl - yum!! Their Thai-inspired bowl offers your choice of (chicken/pork belly/tofu) protein, (eggplant/kale...) veggie, and a base (noodle/rice/salad). I would recommend the chicken green curry bowl, served with a mix of all veggies, and on top of half rice/half kale. The green curry sauce is savory and satiating. The pork belly is a little too fatty, so I prefer the chicken. They also give you a ton of rice, so I prefer ordering it half rice, half kale. I really appreciated that they let you customize and mix multiple types of proteins and veggies. Skip the ramen - the noodles are overcooked, there is just a bit of way-too-fatty pork belly, and the broth is lackluster. p.s. The cookies at this location is not the best. My favorite was a white chocolate macadamia nut one in a clear plastic bag which can be found in select lodges - not sure why they have two vendors making cookies!

If the lift ticket wasn't already expensive enough, prepare to bleed some more. The facility was decently sized in the 1990s, but now it is simply too small. It took my friends and I 15 minutes to find a spot. If you don't mind eating outside, there is a patio in the back that is a lot more empty than the rest of the establishment. The food here is ridiculously expensive. You're looking at $12-20 for most items. The only way I was able to keep in the single digits was by having 2 slices of pizza ($8.25), with water. The slices were pretty small too. One bonus - there's free Wi-Fi there. Yay!

The Rendezvous is conveniently located near the Peak 2 Peak gondola spanning between Whistler and Blackcomb mountains, making it one of the most highly trafficked locations during lunch time. Finding seating here was absolutely insane during peak hours, and our hero only managed to find a spot on the lower floor. As for the food, it's fairly average, but everything tastes good when our hero is hungry after a couple hours of skiing. The burritos here are huge, and they have poutine as well! In addition to food, they serve a variety of bottled beer here, which easily facilitates inebriated skiing. PROS: - Glove drying machines located on the lower level. - Location is easy to get to from either Whistler or Blackcomb. CONS: - Way too crowded.

    Taco Salad with Fish

Sure, it's not as great as Roundhouse. Although I heard Glacier was better, but their selection wasn't too bad. I split a Mountain size hearty mushroom and Taco Fish Salad (http://static.px.yelp.com/bphoto/xm2KAUSN7JJUyKMevAkGEA/l) with my sister and it was perfect. The place does get crowded, but we were lucky to snag a table for 5 quick. The food as I said in my Rendevous review is better than Lake Tahoe for a ski resort, so I gotta give it up for these places.

    $14 pulled pork poutine!

It's kinda hard to review a place like this but I'm gonna anyway. Overall the food is ok and the view is one of a kind. If the food is better, it would have gotten a higher rating. We can't really do much (i.e. complain) about price and it's kinda fair as competition is slim and the restaurant is on top of a mountain! Go for: a break and enjoy a view that most people in the world would never get a chance to Don't go for: if you're hungry and you only got $5, as that only gets you a tea or fruit cup or gum. Water is free :)

All food on the mountain is expensive but the burritos from here will fuel you up for whatever you are doing.

The Rendezvous on Blackcomb mountain has a sit down restaurant named Christine's but I'm usually on the mountain doing something active and I don't want to spend too much time eating. I usually go to the cafeteria where they have several side by side stalls each serving different food. The grill served burgers and fries and next to that they have poutine and soups/stews. This time I chose the taco stand. I was going to order the three taco meal which you can order with beef, pork or fish. While standing in line I noticed a bunch of customers in front of me ordering the burrito. It is absolutely gigantic (see pictures from other reviews) and some people were ordering it with a mix of beef and pork. I ordered one and it was great. It was definitely a two hander and messy. I was so hungry I polished it off - the whole thing - and then I realized I should have taken a picture first - doh! I do that way too often. You can customize your fillings so that's a bonus too. As with any food on the mountain the price tag is expensive but compared to other options I think this is a good choice.

    poutine

When does poutine not taste good on this mountain? Never. Winter or summer... always so satisfying! I had also ordered a salad to share from the taco counter which is a full meal in itself. So many toppings and a generous portion of meat on top.

We tried a variety of dishes across both visits, and every single one was fantastic. The balance of flavors and the way different cultures are blended together is seriously impressive. The tallarín de marisco is a must-order, we loved it so much we ordered it twice. We also had the salmon anticucho and Colombian arepa, and everything was fire. Everything tasted fresh, well thought out, and perfectly executed. You can tell a lot of care goes into each dish. If you're visiting Whistler, Balam is a must-visit. We opted for family-style dining on the outdoor patio, which set the tone perfectly--great ambiance, relaxed energy, and ideal for sharing plates and good conversation. Tatiana, our server, was fantastic--pleasant, attentive, and genuinely friendly, which made the whole experience even better. Food came out quickly, which was impressive given the variety we ordered. We went all in on the menu: * Truffle ceviche * Scallop ceviche * Black tiger prawn causa * Amazonian fish with prawns * Bistek a la Parilla * Yuca fries Everything was fresh, well-presented, and packed with flavor. The ceviches stood out, and the Amazonian fish dish was a highlight. It's definitely on the pricier side--more than I'd typically go for--but when you're on vacation with good friends, it's one of those "worth it" experiences. Great food, great service, and a setting that makes you want to linger a little longer.

The miso sesame dressing added depth without overpowering the beets, while the puffed grains gave it the perfect crunch. The nori, shiso, and hint of yuzu brought a subtle freshness that made the dish feel light yet layered. A stunning start. The cavatelli with fontina and 5g shaved black truffles was pure comfort but elevated. Rich, silky, and deeply savory, with the truffle aroma hitting you immediately. The focaccia and fresh herbs tied it all together -- indulgent without feeling heavy. The standout for me was the sablefish. Perfectly cooked -- buttery and flaky -- paired beautifully with turnip, radish, and maitake mushrooms. The roasted fish bone sauce was incredibly refined and packed with umami. Every bite felt intentional and balanced. And to finish, the sticky toffee pudding -- warm, decadent, and exactly what you want to end the night. Sweet, comforting, and unforgettable. Wild Blue blends refined technique with thoughtful ingredients. Definitely one of the highlights of dining in Whistler

Their geoduck and clam pasts tasted okay but the serving size was laughably small, 2 large bites to perhaps 4 small bites at best. The worst thing was the overcooked geoduck, they're basically large clams and anyone who's cooked and eaten clams will know that overcooked clams turn rubbery and the few bits of geoduck were as rubbery as a rubber duck. The same applies to their Roasted Ling Cod, unless you enjoy overcooked ling cod, avoid at all costs. Amongst our group we ordered 3 New Your Steaks, we ordered medium rare, to their credit they were all cooked a perfect medium rare. Trouble was they were all way over salted. Too much salt to make them enjoyable, frankly I've had much better steaks at Denny's. As part of their prix fixe menu they had smoked black cod which I normally enjoy. Here they mashed the black cod into a chip dip which they served with their house made potato chips, While the dip was okay as far as taste goes, the chips they served last week on Wednesday night were all stale, not yet rancid but definitely stale. If the manager is reading this, I suggest he take a few and taste them himself. Prices weren't out of line since this is a resort area and restaurant pretty much can count on a "captive" clientele. However value wise this place should not be anywhere near the top of your go-to list.
