I've never had an Aussie pie before, so when I was researching what I wanted to eat during my visit to Whistler, I made sure to add Peaked Pies to my list. I got the chicken, mushroom, and leek pie to go because I wanted to eat it outside and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Whistler. I thought I was going to be able to eat it by hand since they packaged it in a bag instead of a container. However, as soon as I started eating it, it immediately fell apart and I had to use a fork. It was really messy to eat. The crust was good and flaky, but the filling was nothing to write home about. It wasn't very thick and I guess I was expecting something more like a chicken pot pie. Again, this was my first time trying an Aussie pie, so maybe it's just my taste buds, but I wasn't too impressed.
There are so many places in the Village in Whistler to eat it was a hard choice, but we decided to give Peaked Pies a try for lunch. Others have said they aren't traditional Aussie pies and I get that if that is your expectation. I always try to appreciate the cafe for their take on the food items. Peaked Pies didn't disappoint. It is a small spot with just a few tables outside and a few tables inside. The eatery gets pretty busy so we felt lucky to get a table inside. They have a lot of choices and we settled on the ones we wanted to try. I went with the veggie pie and added the mushy style peas, mashed potatoes and gravy to the top. Mr. B decided on the Kangaroo pie after talking to the staff. He was a little leary of where the Kangaroo came from, but we were told there is a farm in British Columbia that raises them, so he wanted to try something he had never had. Please see the note below about the kangaroo. There is a correction. The pies came out and were quite large, but we must have been hungry and they were scrumptious we finished them off. Let's start with the veggie pie. It was filled with veggies, carrots, potatoes, onion, corn, celery and yams. The sauce is a coconut milk based sauce and was creamy. The Hopper, with ground kangaroo was lovely. The pie is filled with ground kangaroo, and I mean ground, it was fine meat and stuffed full with a Cabernet Merlot Balsamic Reduction that balanced the sweetness of the meat. The service was great, the staff was nice, and helpful. Great choice. NOTE: I received a correction from the owner of Peaked Pies after posting this review. The Kangaroo is not sourced from British Columbia as we were told. While the food was excellent this was disappointing to hear. Mr. B specifically asked where the kangaroo was sourced as he didn't want frozen and would have ordered something else. I wanted to let you all know I was wrong as we were given inaccurate information from the staff.
Good vegetarian pies, our favorite was the paneer, we also got the vegetable medley. The leek mushroom quiche was also quite delicious, I would recommend that, but the spinach ricotta roll was a bit dry. There are a few tables inside and one outside. Service was fine, the pies were hearty and filling. A great pre hike or post hike meal!
Peaked Pies was a wonderful find for us while visiting Whistler. They were the perfect lunch spot for us with all the snow outside. They are located at the north end of the village away from the ski area. It was a little bit of a walk with both my wife and daughter asking "are we there yet" several times. They are a small shop with a few tables inside. It was too cold to sit outside. No sit down service. You order at the counter and get your food at the counter. The pies we ordered were fantastic. Each pie had "pepper" diagram of the type of pie it was. The Hopper (kangaroo) had a diagram of a Kangaroo. The chunky steak & mushroom and chicken, mushroom & leek had their own diagrams. The pies were piping hot and flavorful. The kangaroo did not taste gamey. It was perfect with the cold weather outside. We liked it. Peaked Pies gave us a very good meal while visiting Whistler.
Not my favorite restaurant I've tried recently. While this is an Aussie spot, the food is quite heavy and lacks flavor. We got the traditional Aussie pie, and the beef was fine, but did not really have much taste. Needed the ketchup and hot sauce. The butter chicken pie was a joke, had butter, chicken and name, but not taste. Really sad and surprising. Be careful, if you have this for lunch, you may fall asleep afterward. Service was good, limited seating available at this restaurant.
Where else can you get kangaroo in Canada?! I got the Hopper, which has ground kangaroo, and ordered it "peaked" (topped with mashed potatoes, peas, and vegetarian gravy). Kangaroo is a bit gamey, but that didn't dissuade me. I do think there was too much pea though, and having it "peaked" made the top crust soggy. Lastly, the space is tight - probably only fits about 10 people - so be prepared for a quick in-and-out as it does get busy. I will be back to try fruit pies next time I'm in Whistler!
So thankful the berry pie is vegan (tried and is good) and they have a vegan savory pie (didn't try). Seems like a sweet little place.
ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! 10/10 recommend We were walking by while exploring the area and I was intrigued and stopped in- and I'm glad I did! I got the hopper (opted not to get it peaked) and it was delicious! I loved being able to try a unique food. Would absolutely get again when I visit next.
We ordered the Steak and Mushroom Pie and the Kangaroo Pie, with mashed potatoes, mushy peas, and gravy for extra flavor. A hearty choice for cold Whistler nights. Food: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Ambiance: 4/5
My husband recommended we go to this spot for lunch and it did not disappoint. We have a similar concept back in the states and I definitely was excited to try this place. I ordered the chicken/apple/brie pie and my husband chose the steak & pepper pie as well as a sausage roll. They all were delicious! The service was quick & effortless. The workers were incredibly friendly and the food was nice & hot when finished. We both ordered it "peaked" which is a scoop of mashed potatoes, a scoop of mushed peas, and covered in gravy. They were fantastic! They were also incredibly filling and you truly only need to eat one, unless you are extremely hungry! Definitely spend your time here eating one of the pies.
tl;dr the unique cuisine turns out to be more forgettable than enjoyable, yet it's still subject to a Whistler premium Simultaneously affordable and interesting eats are hard to come by in Whistler -- that's where Peaked Pies comes in. This Australian cafe was introduced to Whistler in 2013, specializing in traditional Australian savory pies. Peaked Pies makes it home at the far end of Main St in a shopping complex shared with a hamburger joint and a coffee shop. The front window is decorated with cartoon pies and a Peaked-related word collage. The small space is cozy and inviting. Immediately ahead is a log cross-sectioned counter with a warmly lit, heated pie display. A handful of two-seater wooden tables and metal chairs are pressed against the chartreuse muraled wall on the right. Soft pop and acoustic covers play softly in the background. My partner and I stopped by Peaked for a late breakfast, and we were one of just a handful of customers. We opted for the Chunky Steak & Mushroom pie, which we upgraded to "Get Peaked" (adding mashed potatoes, mushy green peas, and gravy on top). The rich flavor was almost entirely within the pie filling. While tasty, the mix-ins were sparse, and I'm not sure that I had a single bite of mushroom. In contrast, the potatoes and peas were plentiful but flavorless. A Yelp check-in granted a complimentary Minington (a mini lamington, which is an Australian chocolate-and-coconut cake). The cake itself was moist and soft, but the flavor profile was dominated by gummy artificial coconut. The service was friendly and efficient, but prices felt unnecessarily high -- nearly $15 for a single pie. And the portion size was admittedly awkward: too big for a single dinner, but not quite big enough to reasonably split. Peaked Pies may be relatively reasonable in price by Whistler standards, but it's not a spot I would return to if it were routinely available back home.
I tried the chunky steak and mushroom pie and it was really filling and worth the price. The portion size was satisfying and overall it was a solid comfort dish. I do wish the meat tasted less like roast beef and more like actual steak, but it was still enjoyable. Ordering was easy and the location is convenient, which makes it a good quick stop.
Nut allergy friendly: I didn't have any issues with the pie I had! While it is a little walk to the corner of Whistler Village, it is totally worth it to go to this little savory pie shop! Pies are basically whatever is available at the counter (there's a heated showcase system) and they are made and refilled quick. I got the Traditional Aussie which is a classic ground beef, onions & gravy pie, loaded (or "peaked" - costs extra, definitely worth it for some extra veggies). One loaded pie is a solid dinner, or one and a half normal pies. I got to sample my friend's Beef Curry pie, which was deliciously spiced, and the Hopper, which was interestingly game-y but I would not order it again. They also sell frozen pies to-go! Great for desserts or to heat up so you don't have to make the walk over here if you stay in Blackcomb Village. There are two small tables outside and very limited seating inside. It might not look full, but that's because their service is so quick. Don't be fooled, as the food is great and very affordable for a ski town!

Pies?!? Who doesn't love pies? I've been here a couple times and so glad they're in whistler. In my most recent trip, we discovered their vegan mixed berry pie. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was full of all the berries I love from strawberry raspberry, blueberry blackberry. Warm with a delicious crust. We loved it so much. We came back again the next day. Are pie the second day for whatever reason was slightly undercooked and just seemed to be a little bit different but nonetheless we liked it so we came back in the third day unfortunately they didn't have any meat at that time. But is this not evidence that we absolutely loved their berry pie? They're very popular every time we went. There was always a line, but it does move fast. There's minimal indoor and outdoor seating very quaint very casual but very friendly & very quick service. read more

Came for the pumpkin pie. Should have been a clue on the freshness when I was told there is only one left. The pie we received had the crust just falling off. It was very stale and inedible. We left it mostly uneaten after a couple of bites didn't want to risk getting sick on vacation. read more

Hi SK, so sorry to hear about your recent experience at our Whistler…
Spent $40 on two pies (not peaked, just pies) and a sausage roll (not with a salad or anything else, just a plain roll). Since when did these three items cost this much of money???? Did they make a mistake in their charges for these three items? Or are the prices just ridiculous? Felt frustrated because they kept asking my husband to move (5 times) so that they could get in and out of the employee room. So inconvenient and extremely unprofessional! The lady who served us pies didn't give us cutleries and said "in Aussie, we eat without cutlery". I sensed discrimination and unequal treatment here. Others around us were eating without cutlery cutleries, did you say the same to them? I took our pies, placed them on our table and then came back to ask for cutleries but had to wait a good 5 minutes after receiving our food because no one was in sight despite us calling out to them. Again, I sense discrimination here. I used to really like this place and gave them lots of Business over the years by bringing friends and family over but today is the last time I spend money here. On the positive side, their pies are good! We wiped our plates clean as you can see in the pic below. Not a fan of their sausage rolls, too dry and nothing special about it. read more

While many coffee shops have closed in the evening, Peaked Pies was still open in the Whistler area. We ordered through DoorDash, all 3 drinks were taped well on the lids and non of them leaked. Stopped in for a super late lunch on a Friday just before 3:30. There will still people coming in an out at that time, but it wasn't super busy. All of the pies are already made, and they reheat them for you. We ordered the Traditional Aussie, Butter Chicken, and Sausage Roll. The Traditional Aussie is ground beef with gravy, which I liked over the butter chicken because the chicken tasted old and dry. We didn't get them peaked (mashed potatoes and mushy peas) because I don't like peas. Even without it peaked, it was enough food for two people. The sausage roll was good too, but it was more like a roll of ground beef than it was sausage. I wish it came with some sort of dipping sauce. Good place for quick meal. I can imagine this place getting packed during the wintertime when people are on a ski break, and want a quick but hearty meal. There is limited seating though. read more

I've never seen a place like this before! Peaked pies serve up Australian baked goodies and it was definitely interesting. ***What we ordered **Steak & Mushroom Pie (7.5/10) ~ This was perfect for a cold day! Super cool to see that this is almost similar to a pot pie but with all the crazy toppings on top! The only thing that really sucked about this was how soggy the pie gets. If you're not eating it right away I would HIGHLY suggest asking for all the toppings on the sides. **Sausage Roll (5/10) ~ There wasn't too much flavor and it did taste a little bland/dry. However, if you did happen to dip your sausage roll into the gravy it made it taste 10x better. Overall, I'm giving it a 2 because staff was rude asf. When we went to go/check on our food one the girls gave us attitude and said, "I was calling your name this entire time" and we looked in shock because we had a party of 6 and of course the 6 of us aren't going to wait in the tiny shop crowding the area and clearly she saw us waiting outside. When we also asked for take-out utensils she ALSO rolled her eyes at us, like it was a problem (lmao she even knew the order was to go m, so it SHOULD of came with utensils to begin with). Another thing too was that by the time we sat down at a random table away from the shop we noticed that they skimped us out on our order and forgot a whole pie that we ordered.. So, setting all that aside. The food was honestly pretty good and it was nice getting to try something different. But the staff that interacted with us in the end was NOT IT. read more

I was so exited to visit this place! Cozy, clean and cute. I was lucky enough to grab a seat and table! Ordered a combo (spinach ricotta roll and salad). The roll was a bit too dry, and the salad was fresh and tasty. Also ordered lunch to go for John. Since I had to take the bus, I got the sides separately to avoid the pie getting soggy. The traditional Susie was tasty all together with the sides. Oh, and thank you for the free minington when checking in. It was scrumptious read more

Went to Whistler for a day trip and wanted to grab something quick for lunch. Saw the great reviews this place had and decided to grab a quick bite. They have so many options for their pies and it was hard to choose one. I went with the most interesting one, the hopper. The hopper is a kangaroo meat pie and it was decently sized. I did not get any of the toppings as I wanted to taste the filling of the pie. The filling tasted like ground beef, but leaner. Tasted pretty good and I was satisfied. Super friendly service. Limited indoor seating as it is a small place. Recommended for a quick bite! read more
