Dairy Queen in Whistler Village
Michael S.

Only one thing keeps me from permanently DQing Dairy Queen: Peanut Buster Parfait God knows why I love ... crave ... NEED them ... and, unfortunately, she isn't telling. So, for now, just accept that my own personal Hierarchy of Needs Pyramid includes these base essentials of survival: Air Coke Zero Sunscreen WiFi Cheese and the occasional Peanut Buster Parfait ... even on vacay in Whistler, BC. Sadly, this DQ is sad with service slower than thick hot fudge. Of course, I didn't walk away. I waited. And, waited. What you call issues, I call needs ... and they include a Peanut Buster Parfait.

Construction

Service was good. Came here during the off-season. Looked like the place was still under construction from the outside. Only 1 employee doing everything. Considering she was the only one working, she was quite amazing. 4 stars for service. As I mentioned earlier, there was construction happening outside. By now, it should be finished. The shop was very small. Only about 6 tables in the place. Not much room. The food was blah. Sandwich and fries were nothing special. (2 stars) My Orange Julius was delicious. (4 stars) Would I return here? I do not believe so. Lots of other options available in Whistler, British Columbia, Canada.

Totally the same as advertised.... come on DQ you used to live up to this. Stop cutting corners . 1mm of filling....

First, there's plenty of seating. You come in, get a menu, seat yourself, and when you're ready, order at the counter. They will bring your food to you. We got a table outside in the sun. We ordered the Grants Platter for Two and shared it between three hungry adults and we still had a lot of leftovers (which were super tasty later)! My favorites from this platter were the brisket (so tender and just the right amount of smokiness) and the chicken wings with dry rub (fried to crispy perfection). The ribs and pulled pork were also really good, but since I prefer my barbecue without sauce, these didn't appeal to me as much as the brisket. I also liked the fresh and tasty mixed greens salad that we got as one of our sides--very balanced and delicious. The staff are super friendly here. Our waiter checked on us several times and even the chef came out to see if we liked the food. It was a wonderful lunch. If you're looking for a great meal in Whistler, definitely check out Hunter Gather!

Their fried wings were incredibly savory. The ribs were fall off the bone tender. I also enjoyed the cornbread and the mixed greens. The staff was friendly and the chef chatted with us too. We'd definitely come back again the next time we were in Whistler. We really enjoyed the outdoor seating.

The music was great, the drinks are cheap, and the service was attentive (they kept my water glass full all night). For food, we enjoyed the honey garlic wings, fried pickles, and poutine. Bathroom was clean. Ideas for improvement - Wished the nachos would not stick together and the cocktails were a little more balanced.

Every time we're in the area we stop in a least twice - once as a family and again just for date night with my husband. I'm blown away at the food and drink prices (you can't beat them) . The food is pretty darn good and the drinks are the best. We came in for lunch and I ordered the Warehouse Mac and cheese which was a perfect conviction of cheeses and Roasted Red Pepper Alfredo Sauce on Cavatappi Noodles, and it was just spicy and flavorful enough. We also ordered the sun-dried tomato pesto penne and my son had the crispy chicken Caesar wrap - all were equally as delicious. Returning for drinks, i had a couple of the Sour Keys - (Smirnoff Raspberry, Peach Schnapps, Lemon, Sprite and Sour Key Candy) and oh man - they were dangerously good! Both visits the staff was very friendly and attentive, we never had to wait long, and the bar tender was on top of making sure we were always hydrated. Love this spot and will happily return again.

Came to this location again and it is a MUST when in town. (Is exceptional in service, flavour,…read moreatmosphere and aesthetic compared to the Vancouver locations.) When you walk in you're promptly greeted by the hosts. We came mid week and tried their spring menu which was 4 courses for 33 before tax and tip. The server was prompt and attentive with a sincere, friendly demeanour. They were out of the tomato soup so we got the chowder and some chips and salsa (not pictured). Both were so delicious. The chips were ultra thick and reminded me of eating bugles as a kid, but way higher class. The salmon and chicken were way larger portions than we had expect , and done to perfection. Chicken is a little spicy but this is the type of service and cooking I liiiiive for! If you've ever had any other Earls scratch that out of your mind because when you come here, this is literally the place to be. Sticky toffee pudding also wonderful. It's not like a pudding more like a mini chocolate cake with toffee, vanilla ice cream and this almond florentine style cookie. Recommend to anyone even vegetarian / vegan as they have a plentiful plant based menu as well. This place is vibes for friends, dates, or a family dinner.

It was a rather cold April evening, so we asked if there were heaters. We were told that the heaters would be above our seats. We quickly accepted and were taken to our table. It was quite nice because the heather gave off enough heat for it to be enjoyable to sit outside. My friend ordered the 6 oz prime sirloin with the peppercorn sauce. I ordered the 6 oz prime sirloin with truffle butter. Both steaks came out in exceptional time. The service was quite amazing. My only thing was both steaks were overcooked. I ordered medium and it looked almost well done. My friend ordered medium rare and his was almost medium, if not done as well.

We actually came in one day for Apres and another for dinner, happened to get her twice AND SHE REMEMBERED US! She knew our kids' drinks without asking. Impressive. The place itself is really quaint, feels like an old pub. The poutine and dips were great. LOVED their beers--the stout and the hazy were the faves. Craft beer and restaurant near the middle of Whistler Village, just S of the Olympic rings…read more Parking here is horrendous. Surprise surprise. The place is part of Mark James group (Yaletown Brewing etc.), so one can already know what to expect if one has been to the other locations. Staff are friendly. Most of them seem to be Australian. Only complaint was that my friends and I couldn't be seated outside on the patio for some reason, even though there were clearly tables available (I didn't see any reserved signs). Not sure why the waitress insisted we sit inside where the place was maybe 30% full, but oh well. The place feels like a giant chalet, with the timber trim everywhere. They have a pizza oven, and the beer production tanks are visible over the kitchen area. There's even a toy train that does a circuit throughout the dining area (look up). One thing worth mentioning is that the bathrooms are on the 2nd floor, which may be a problem for some. Food here is Whistler pricing, so be sure to have deep pockets. I was told to try the High Mountain beef ribs, so there is now 1 less cow out there. 3 bones drenched in BBQ sauce, served on top of a pile of coleslaw and next to a pile of mashed potatoes (there is a fries option). Ribs were cooked well but the sauce was definitely on the salty side. I tried a piece of my buddy's prime rib and it's pretty solid. The portion size was definitely enough. I was stuffed. I also had a flight of their craft beer (4 glasses). As of the time of writing, they only have 8 beers available, but it was more than enough. Overall the place is worth a visit if one wants pub style comfort food.
