One of my former staffers now lives and works in Whistler and when we came up to visit her, she recommended we meet at Hunter Gather. So glad she did because this place is awesome! First, there's plenty of seating. You come in, get a menu, seat yourself, and when you're ready, order at the counter. They will bring your food to you. We got a table outside in the sun. We ordered the Grants Platter for Two and shared it between three hungry adults and we still had a lot of leftovers (which were super tasty later)! My favorites from this platter were the brisket (so tender and just the right amount of smokiness) and the chicken wings with dry rub (fried to crispy perfection). The ribs and pulled pork were also really good, but since I prefer my barbecue without sauce, these didn't appeal to me as much as the brisket. I also liked the fresh and tasty mixed greens salad that we got as one of our sides--very balanced and delicious. The staff are super friendly here. Our waiter checked on us several times and even the chef came out to see if we liked the food. It was a wonderful lunch. We were visiting a friend at Whistler and she suggested Hunter Gather. It was a great choice. We got the Grants Platter for two - which was more than enough for the three of us plus leftovers. All of us thought the brisket was as good as any we've ever had. Their fried wings were incredibly savory. The ribs were fall off the bone tender. I also enjoyed the cornbread and the mixed greens. I definitely knew I wanted to check out Hunter & Gather during my time in Whistler for the weekend! This place had so much seating we were seated very quickly walking in! We were greeted with smiles, and the manager let us know that everything was made in house including the bread! The staff were all so kind, frequently checking in on us to see if everything was okay! We had brunch at this local eatery and tap house. Upon arrival, grab a menu, choose a seat, order and pay at the counter and your order will be brought to your table. It's very spacious inside and ideal for big groups. I was impressed by the service. The manager came by a few times to check on us and the chef even came by to say hi and clear our plates. Chicken & waffles: this is their signature dish and it's Instagram-worthy. The dish is dripping with hollandaise sauce and the chicken is nice and crispy. Ample seating and the location in Whistler is wonderful, so no complaints there. Came in with a group of 8 about 7:30 PM. There was a wait for seating at a table. So we went ahead and opted for the bar seating. You can grab a menu and the order at the counter when ready. There are quite a few options and things to share. This is definitely a meat forward option. I tried the spicy chicken sandwich. It was yummy and a bit sloppy but what can you expect. They packed the sandwich. For my side I got the potatoes. They were super salty and came with a sweet sauce. I'm not sure about these I would have skipped. We went for breakfast since there was not a wait and we needed to get going to head out of town. As a gluten-free person, it was really limited since I cannot have cross-contaminated food. They did not have alternatives for the potatoes or toast so all I could eat was eggs and bacon and ham and fruit. If you are GF, I would eat elsewhere. The eggs and meat were very good though. Since it is Oct, the fruit was out of season and subpar. My hubby had the potato croquette and said it was neither here nor there. Loved the brisket sandwich. Tender beef on a brioche bun - it's everything you could want after a long day on the slopes. The shawarma wrap comes in a beautifully soft pita. The jackfruit was tasty, but not my favorite jackfruit sandwich. All of the sides are great. If you're looking for filling, I highly recommend the pemberton potatoes.
