The service was great and the food was okay. I do like the vibes this place has and the music is chill. I like the music they played. They have indoor and outdoor seating. I chose to sit inside. I had a latte and the chicken and waffles. My food was okay. I didn't realize my food came with fries. So we ordered a side of fries. I do have to say their curly fries was really good but the cost was $16 bucks CAN dollars. Its enough to feed 3 to 4 people. My partner liked his lemon pepper wings cost was $24 for 11 wings. It looked really good. I would recommend this place, if you want a chill spot and to hang out with friends. They have a pool table. Also, its in a great location. Looks like this would be an amazing spot if it were Ski/Snowboarding season. Located right at the base of the Black Comb Gondola and Ski lifts. I can only imagine how crazy busy this place gets. Inside, you see a bunch of Skis and Gondolas hanging from the ceiling giving you a feeling that you should be expecting it to be snowing outside. Food was delicious. Liked how instead of breast, they used the thigh instead. Giving it a bit more flavor. read more

Merlins bar and Grill is on the Blackcomb side of Whistler. Because of its location it's not a place we usually eat but since in the shoulder season only Blackcomb is open, we decided to grab lunch here yesterday and it was a pleasant surprise. They were offering 25% off your bill after April 17. The menu wasn't very extensive, I'm not exactly sure if that's because of the shoulder season but both my husband and I opted for burgers. I paid the extra dollar for Yum fries and he got the salad. We found the burger, absolutely delicious, juicy, and both the bun and toppings made everything jive. We really enjoyed the pickled onions that were in the burger as well. My yam fries were piping, hot and covered with a balsamic drizzle and served with an aïoli on the side. My husband solid was packed with vegetables, but generally a pretty generic salad, but nothing bad at all. The environment inside was also pretty cozy. Definitely chalet vibes with the wooden beams but also a party vibe with a moose and bras hanging off of its antlers. In regards to service, you had to go up to order but several wait staff checked in on us several times to make sure we had everything we needed an hour. Food tasted great. Honestly, I really great spot to stop on the Blackcomb. We definitely would return. I bet it would be really fun in the thick of ski season. read more

Place is terrible. Food is junk, crummy bar food. The big nachos is a complete ripoff. Its huge, smothered in cheese, burnt chips on top, soggy chips on the bottom. You wont finish it either because its really not good and/or from the stomach ache you get about 5 bites in. Bee's, flys and bugs everywhere. No service staff. Order at the bar. No to-go containers. Merlin's has the best nachos in the world...oops, Merlin's HAD the best nacho's in the world, so we were so disappointed to find they went from nachos with lots of cheddar cheese, meat, olives, jalapeños baked so the chips are crispy and the cheese is bubbly to a pile of cold chips with various ingredients spread over them and canned cheese product on the side. So very sad. Merlin's service has been scaled back as well so now instead of wait staff checking in on you, taking orders, and delivering food and drinks you get to wait in line at the bar to order and pay. Merlin's is a great place to take a load off when coming off of Blackcomb mountain. My group found it less crowded than other restaurants on the mountain during lunch. The food is pretty decent. Is the nearest bar at Blackcomb. It has heat outside in case you need them as well as 2 fireplaces. There are 2 entrances to get inside but you have to get to the right one to be sorted. Otherwise, you won't be able to grab a table. That happened to us. We had to go back to the other door even when we were moving from outside. Then the hostess wanted to sit us on the other side. Of course we let them know and changed us to the side we wanted although in not a very comfortable table as many people were passing through. I just don't get it if most of the tables were available because it was 3.30-4pm when everybody is going back to get ready for dinner... Service is a bit slow the sedond day but I think it was crowded and you don't worry that much because you are having fun cause you are on vacations :) Mimosas and mules are tasty. We also had different burgers and zucchini ravioli. They were great :D It was not that cheap though. read more

As adults we discovered they also do fantastic sangria... so we would go there for the pub food, but specifically for nachos and sangria. When we went recently they didn't have either. We are in Whistler for 7 days, with 5 days on the mountain snowboarding. My only complaint is that we didn't know about this place until the 3rd day. The food was amazing! We had yam fries, regular huge steak fries, and the best tacos in town: pork belly tacos. Do yourself a huge favor and have a few of these. You will never look at tacos again -- a whole new standard to judge against. Ridiculously delicious!! The drinks were equally good and the service was top notch. Good eats in the middle of your day on the mountain. Skip the crazy crowded Whistler Village and head here instead. You deserve it. read more

Not a bad place if you are on the Blackcomb side of the mountain (Upper Village). You board right down to this place. It is less crowded than the main village side, it is convenient, and it is super chill. Came here for a lunchtime break and got me my first Michelada (I think that's how you pronounce it?) Friends have been telling me about it and it wasn't bad. Had it with the canadian beer kokonee. I got me first kokonee from a kanuck-ee! :) Had their bean dip as a snack and a vodka pineapple after a day of boarding before heading in to the hotel to get ready to roam the main village. Bartender and waitresses were nice and helpful. Love their accents! Place has great decor and character! I love it! Will be back! read more

I went here the other day after skiing at Whistler. I was with my dad, who has a gift card for mountain-owned establishments, and this was the only place in the village that took it. So maybe it's better at night, but we were there around 5pm and it didn't seem so shiny at that point. The first thing I noticed about this dingy establishment was the overwhelming scent of stale beer. The waitress was nice though, and quickly took our order. I had the quesadilla, and my dad got the beef dip sandwich. Apparently the sandwich was good, but the quesadilla could have used some more flavour; maybe it was the gross whole wheat tortilla. I don't know about the bar section of this place, but the grill part is not worth the visit. read more

There was quite a bit of seating on the patio. The music seemed overly loud...to the point that it was hard to have a conversation with the people at our table. We sat for what seemed like forever before our waitress took our order. Service was pretty shotty, but to the credit of our waitress, she was stretched a little thin. When our food finally came out, it was meh. I ordered the chicken sandwich. Average. I was starved and it was sustenance. I had half a serving of fries and half salad. The salad was fresh with a Greek style dressing. The fries were OK. For the price, I felt the quality should have been higher. Average food on the expensive side which seems like the run of the mill in Whistler. Overall, I was not impressed with the food or the service. read more

Located right at the base of the Blackcomb, this is a great place for a quick lunch or post-ski bite. The burgers here are tall and big as your face and the gigantic nachos can fill a big bucket. Definitely a place for bring hungry friends after a good workout. The salt n pepper wings and the craft beer were legit. When I asked for poutine, our server suggested that I order a side order, rather than the full size, which worked out perfectly! They also serve half portion of the nachos, which was plenty for our group. Good food, great location, and good beer. Can't complain. They accept the Blackcomb cash card, which was great as we got some refund from the sky lift tickets. read more

Merlin's was good, and I would, and have, gone back. I got the bacon and blue cheese burger, which was great. Huge, but great. The yam fries and the chipotle dipping sauce are GREAT. Only reason this doesn't get a higher review from me was for my boyfriend's experience. He ordered the chilli. We'd been out on the mountain all morning, and needed something hot. The chilli was seriously barely warm. Now I have never seen him send anything back before ever, but he asked the waitress if she could take it back and just throw it in the microwave for a minute. Waitress was lovely, apologised (we assured her it wasn't a big deal). Got it back, with some cheese sprinkled on it this time, and it still wasn't warmed up. Waitress said she had gotten us a new one, which was great, but it was still just barely luke warm. The cheese on top wouldn't melt. My burger great, beer pretty good, waiting staff really friendly and a great atmosphere. So definitely go to Merlin's, but hope the chilli is nice and hot! read more

My favourite après spot at the base of my favourite mountain! There's a nice mix of locals and visitors here all having fun. It's a popular place for WB staff as well because of good prices and specials on drinks and food. There's usually a daily drink special and there are $5 burgers Sun-Tues (after 6p) - with the purchase of a beverage. ;^p If you're really hungry go for the $20 nachos - you're probably thinking - "that's a ripoff". Generally, it will take four very hungry people to polish it off. If you've got a group of hungry (or drinking) peeps, then this is the dish to go for! On Friday's for après during the snow season, there's usually the Hairfarmers performing live - which is always a good time. You can usually find some crazy locals dancing on the tables! The only thing that could be better (for me) is a larger menu - especially vegetarian items! Still a great place though! read more

This is one of those five stars for location and ok for food (but who really cares). At the base of Blackcomb. On these spring days when the lifts close at 4 but it is light till 6, there is no better place for a Cosmopolitan in a plastic cup on the huge patio. Or or that matter bug greasy quesadilla. The main problem is that u have to be aggressive to get a table given the crowds and a wait staff that at least for us was so harried and busy they could hope to smile and enjoy the day. So if ur staying Sy Blackcomb is mandatory u go and have a drink here :-) read more

I liked Merlin's as an apres ski bar the best for a few reasons: 1) We mostly stuck to the Blackcomb side so Merlin's was the closest bar 2) It was emptier on that side of the village, so it was easier to get a table at Merlin's 3) The crowd seemed to be having more fun at Merlin's! Prices were comparable to other places for food and drink. Comparing burgers (because that's pretty much all we ate in Whistler), the patty wasn't as good as other places, the meat tasted less fresh and more like something I would get out of my own freezer. But the toppings were awesome, like the onion rings on the bacon and blue cheese burgers. The yam fries were delicious! The decor, which includes gondola cabins hanging from the wooden interior, was funky, and the shots on a ski looked like a fun group activity. =) Also, the service here was quick and friendly. read more

Had a chorizo quesadilla... AMAZING! It is on the expensive side (me and my buddy paid $50 for lunch for 2 quesadillas and a pitcher of beer) but then again it's whistler so what can you expect... Right at the base of Blackcomb, we stopped in for Après ski drinks. The service was good, but the menu looked like your typical bar menu. Nothing stood out as yummy or unique. So we didn't order food. The cocktail menu was the same... Just meh. I had baileys and cocoa, my date had some whiskey and coffee concoction both seemed low on alcohol... With great places in Whistler wouldn't recommend this place. read more

Was up at Whistler again for the 6th summer in a row from Bellingham. For the past 5 Merlin's has been our favorite go to place as we stay just up the hill on Blackcomb. This year was was pretty much a bust. We ate there two days and found: 1. Prices were a lot higher, food quality was worse. 2. Customer service was mediocre at best (we ate 2x over 4 days and neither server was very friendly). My son has dairy allergies, and in past years they handled this great! This year they seemed put out to have to deal with it. read more

The poutine with bacon and mushroom burger were pretty awesome. Pair it with a glass of Stella and you're set. It's nice to have beer pairing suggestions on the menu if you're the type that can't decide which beer to pick. On the other hand, the service was excellent, and the staff were more than willing to help out if you need directions and info. read more
