I brought several coworkers here for dinner. Environment was somewhat elegant but not stuffy, and my prime rib was excellent. We were unimpressed, however with our server who appeared to be paying more attention to his phone than us. He also seemed short fused and aggravated with my group who had a few simple questions about the menu. I think his name begins with a B. Bryce? While the food and ambiance were nice, we will not be coming here again. That attitude left a bad taste in our mouth. read more

My friend and I went there for our birthday dinner while on a trip to Chicago. We both ordered filet mignon with different sides. Her steak was buttery soft while mine was definitely tough. While these things can always happen depending on cut etc as a customer I didn't want to pay for a tough filet. I informed my waitress and while she apologized and walked away the manager Kelly came up to our table apologized and asked what we would like (new one, different food etc). We decided for a butterfly cut (as we were in a time crunch) and the new steak came out about 10 min later. During that time Kelly came up to us twice checking on us making sure everything was okay and if there was anything else we needed. The steak came out phenomenal buttery soft melting in my mouth. "Meh." This is the word I'd use when describing my dining experience at Remington's. A solid meh. We went here for Valentine's Day dinner to try somewhere outside of our normal steakhouse haunts. The ambiance is nice, but the food and wine left us feeling gouged and unsatisfied. I ordered a few tastes of red wines to help me choose which bottle we'd have with dinner, and every single taste that came out was warm as if they just leave their wines out on the counter rather than have them properly stored at the correct temperature. Meh mistake #1: room temperature red wine. Amateur hour. Of course, when we ordered our bottle, it too was lukewarm. Gross. We both ordered filets medium rare with baked potatoes. Now, the baked potato was definitely delicious. But they were the only truly delicious thing we ate there. Our filets not only came out quite rare (bordering on raw), they were bland and also oddly fatty. I know that marbling supposedly makes steak more delicious, but I specifically only order filets because I hate fatty beef/marbling. These filets were kinda fatty...weird. I sent mine back to be brought up to medium rare and it came back much better, but was still flavorless. My husband suffered through his raw steak because he was starving. Meh mistake #2: Calling yourself a steakhouse yet not knowing how to properly cook steaks at the right temperature the FIRST time. We ordered a side of brussel sprouts to share and they too were 100% meh. Our server was nice though. We liked him; the service in general was good. But the worst part of the experience was our ridiculous check. We paid around $270 for two cocktails, a bottle of wine, two steaks and a side of brussels with tip. I'd say the meal was worth more like maybe $100 with tip. The prices here are absolutely LUDICROUS for the quality of food. In no universe were the steaks we had at Remington's worth $45 each. It's actually laughable; I was pissed. I get that the pricing is because of the location, but my god, at least make it WORTH it. We don't mind dropping $$ on awesome food, but this was highway robbery. Lesson learned. Plus, Remington's seems like a bootleg Hillstone/Bandera with their team serving style and menu options but their food is leagues beneath anything from the Hillstone brand. I wasn't surprised when they told me they were the same company that owns Dunlays...another decent but thoroughly meh restaurant. Meh mistake #3: Gouging customers with silly tourist pricing. I'll stick to Bandera when I want good steak on Michigan Ave. All in all, Remington's is perfectly fine if it was your only option in the area and you enjoy wasting good money on subpar steak, but alas, thank God it isn't the only option around there and there are tons of good steakhouses in Chicago that are worth every penny. We will never return to Remington's, but wish them the best; it is indeed nice inside so maybe just going for drinks in the bar would be worth it... read more

Service is great. My burger wasn't to my liking, first try was undercooked and second was over cooked. Wasn't my luck tonight with burgers. Everyone else enjoyed their meal. The servings size were huge! The shrimp tempura appetizer was my favorite. Perfectly fried and the sauce wasn't too overpowering. Two friends and I had lunch here today. I've eaten here a few times since outdoor dining was made available, & I've written a review before; but I feel compelled to do so again today. Before I get to the food, I want to point out that my friends & I are all over 65 years old; therefore, feeling safe is important to us. At Remington's, you will more than just safe: The staff is clearly well-trained and yet, possess that unteachable quality of efficient friendliness. We were offered the option of inside or outside; we only eat outside, so the hostess went to the available outside table & wiped it down before seating us. Several different staff attended our table throughout our time there; each was professional, yet friendly and helpful. Our food was great: I had the Wrightwood Salad, which I've had many times before; it was yummy. One friend had the Crab Louis salad, which she really liked; the other had a toast . . . was it crab & something else? I don't remember; I do remember she was thrilled to have something a bit different that was also really tasty. She also had the roasted Brussels sprouts; the portion was healthy, so she took half of them home for dinner. Our experience was delightful. read more

Remington's is the new restaurant in the Loop area that should be tops on anyone's list. The food is fantastic and the service is excellent. We have been there three times now and each time the experience has been awesome. The Remington steak is mouth watering. Solid range of dishes at multiple tiers of price points. Stylish space with a casual vibrance. Highly recommend the raw bar menu items, particularly the tuna poke (very flavorful, served with tortilla chips), crab toast (they don't skimp on the crab meat and avocado), and the kansai-style-pressed sushi. The poke and sushi alone are filling enough for a light lunch. If you are in the mood for dessert, do not miss out on the almond cake with fresh berries and fresh whipped cream. Service is excellent (I usually just grab a bar seat) with the general manager even stepping in to maintain flow. read more

I'm in Chicago for RSNA which is a large professional conference. It is held here every year. This Is my 8th. I love Chicago and have always enjoyed the city. Unfortunately tonight I experienced very poor treatment at this establishment. I came in for a drink and snack, around 5.30pm. I sat at the bar. I was greeted by a nice African American gentleman who took my drink and food order. Both delivered pretty fast. As I sat there however, the bar tender for busy on the other side of the bar. He was also tending to orders from the floor and refilling ice etc. Pretty busy. There TWO very NOT BUSY bar tenders in front of me for the rest of my stay. They never looked at me, asked if I needed anything or even made eye contact, which I purposely was trying to make so I could proof to myself that perhaps they didn't see me... Right in front of them. Even as they served the customer directly to my right and to my left. This continued. It was clear they were looking right THROUGH me. As if I was not there. Never have I left more invisible and insulted. I finally called over the hostess and she sent over a manager. He tried to be nice about it but didn't see to really get the level of neglect and insult this treatment represented. After he came over the two Caucasian bar tenders who very efficiently IGNORED me, tried to come over. Let's just say that I was done. I have held cocktail receptions at the Ritz and Four Seasons. I have dined at the fanciest of restaurants. Never have I been treated the way I was tonight. This place should really look into why these two bar tenders - one female and the other one male, proceeded to behave the way they did tonight. While the one ONLY African American bartender worked his butt off they stood there doing nothing - but IGNORE me. read more

This is clearly one of my favourites in Chicago. I have always been a Houston's fan and this is the closest you will get. In summer my favourite is the artichokes followed by the chicken. If you are on your own, it is quite okay to go to the bar as the bartenders are extremely entertaining. I also take my kids there quite often as the menu has a few items for them too. I wouldn't bother going on a Friday or Saturday unless you have a reservation or at least call ahead. read more

I came here cause it looked like a really nice place. My brother and I got the spinach and artichoke dip, macaroni and cheese and the All American Burger (medium rare). The dip was creamy and flavorful. The mac and cheese was just so conforting and pleasing. The burger was perfect with a slightly bloody run. The service is attentive and quick. I went to this restaurant on a rainy night two weeks ago for take out when I was in town on business and had too much desk work to do to eat out. I figured from the Yelp reviews that this would be okay for take out and that I could at least get something decent. Was I shocked at how delicious the food was - even eaten in a hotel room in front of a computer screen! I had the Brussels Sprout salad since that had been reviewed and thought that would be a nice change of pace. It was outstanding! The Brussels Sprout were so well paired with the other ingredients and the dressing so spot-on that I actually would not have thought Sprouts were the focus. But that was okay because it was overall so flavorful that regardless of the name it was great and I would highly recommend it, even if you are not a Sprout fan. I paired the salad with a turkey burger for a change of pace and again was amazed at the flavor notes and creativity of the dish. In fact, I thought the bun detracted a bit from the rest of the flavors so ate the burger without the bun. That way the turkey and Asian notes came thru and I liked the crunch of the Asian slaw. I would definitely order the turkey burger again, and this time tell the kitchen to forget the bun! Looking forward to visiting Remington's again next time I am in town - definitely will be a go-to spot for me. Next time I hope to dine-in. read more

Very nice waiter, Marshall, gave excellent service. Unfortunately the food ranged from ick, to mediocre. They were out of the two sushi dishes on the menu, on a Saturday night. The $17 shrimp cocktail consisted of nicely proportioned shrimp that didn't pass the "smell test," it clearly wasn't fresh, and was a mushy texture. The prime rib was tough, poorly seasoned, full of gristly fat, slightly over cooked, and they had our canned beef broth on it. Calling it au jus was a disservice. The twice baked potato was evidently microwaved, the cheese was simply dumped on top and it was dry as dust. The $15 martini was a bit on the small side, but the French 75 was far too sweet. When the manager came over to tell me he "watched term cook the shrimp this morning," that sealed the deal. I don't care WHEN you cook your shrimp, but it clearly wasn't fresh. For nearly a $40 piece of prime rib, I've had better at brunch buffets read more

Big fan of Remington's. Sometimes the service is a little scrambled, but the food makes it all worth it. Absolutely out of this world Kale Salad, that may not sound appetizing, but they put a peanut dressing on it that I dream about. Great appetizers: mac and cheese, steak sliders, and rock shrimp. For what it's worth, Remington's is a great spot for its ambience--I would come here to catch up over a drink or two especially when it's a nice day outside and they have outdoor seating/opened balconies. That aside, I thought the food was mediocre. The monkey bread was pretty good, although it's hard (in my opinion) to screw that up. I ordered the prime rib hash, but the bits of steak in my dish were so well done they had a rubber-like texture and lacked flavor. read more

I had a better prime rib dinner on a franchise steakhouse like longhorn or outback. Though the steak was thick and arrived medium rare on most part of the middle portion and medium well on the outer sides (about 1/8-1/2" from the side), the meat was tough and have to chew more than 30 times to each bite portion before taking it in. I was expecting it to be one of the best local prime rib in downtown Chicago but was disappointed. Other than that, the appetizer was great so is the ambiance. read more

My wife and I dined at Remington's a couple of weeks ago before going to a performance at the CSO. We had an outstanding meal with great service. Unfortunately, what happened next compelled me to write my very first Yelp review. Because of my initial experience, I scheduled a business meeting dinner with 7 out of town colleagues for a subsequent Thursday evening. On the Monday of that week, a voice mail was left indicating that our reservation was cancelled. During the return phone conversation, we were informed that it is their "policy that no reservations are guaranteed". Really? I have been to many fine dining establishments and I have never had an restaurant refuse to honor a reservation. Oddly, when I went back to review their website, I could find no such written policy. Bottom line....buyer beware with Remington's when it comes to reservations. Based upon their "policy" it would seem that you cannot assume your reservation will be honored until you are physically seated. read more

This place is so amazing... Every time I visit the staff is so nice and accommodating, the food is quality and well thought out, and the venue itself is modern without being too terribly fancy. I like that the booths in the main dining room are a little taller, it helps block the chatter from other diners around you. The wine room is so pretty, I hope to enjoy a meal in there soon! They also have great meeting spaces for group lunches or what have you. Big fan. read more

Bleu cheese kinda threw the dish off a bit. Crab Cakes: very flavorful, little filling and a lot of crab. cole slaw was really good. Service was okay. A few empty plates weren't taken off the table before the entrees came up; no big deal. Server seemed to disappear for a while when we wanted drink refills. I don't know how many managers this place has, but every 2 minutes we were approached by a different manager asking how everything was. Average experience overall. read more

Remington's was not the experience I was hoping for. Service was slow, and did not at ALL put customers first. Server was extremely rude, and the steak and eggs were cold. The cooks were loud and obnoxious, and someone pointed to the restroom and I had absolutely no idea how to get there. Hostesses were smug. Unfriendly staff overall. I felt embarrassed to bring my family there. But I spent $85 so that's great. read more

We ate at Remington's on a recent trip to Chicago and loved our experience here! The ambiance, service, music, comfort level, and location were perfect. Great lunch. Great service. I had the fish sandwich which was tasty and filling. I sub-ed creamed spinach as the side and it was delicious. I ate half the meal and asked for the rest to be wrapped. Imagine my surprise when I opened the box to heat up lunch the next day and found only half a sandwich and no spinach.
