Have always heard about the great happy hour so I met a friend there at the bar. By the way, which is the only place you can enjoy the happy hour drinks and food specials. The bartender took forever to wait on me as he was standing at the other end of the bar with his legs crossed, leaning back chatting with another employee. I had to wave him down to get him to come bring me some water and take my drink selection. The very same thing happened the next time I wanted a drink. And the same thing happened when my friend arrived and wanted a drink. The oysters were OK, nothing fabulous. They used to be a dollar each they're two dollars each. The front end staff were amazing, the people at the hostess stand were warm and welcoming. While we were seated at the end of the bar having a conversation, two of the waiters came up, leaned up against the end of the bar where we were and had a long conversation, we could hardly hear what we were saying to each other because of them.it was a very odd experience. Went to Remington's for a birthday dinner celebration and had a great time. The staff is very friendly and they validate parking! You have to try their Mini filet sandwiches. I also recommend the Prime Rib--it was super tender. I replaced the baked potato with mashed potatoes which I encourage because the mashed potatoes were perfectly garlic-y and light. The chicken was tender but not worth the price. They also gave us a complimentary ice cream dessert for the birthday. The total price for the mini filet, prime rib, and chicken + tip/tax was $113. read more

Always reliable right on Michigan Avenue, and great for pre-theater. The ambiance depends on your table . The front is causal, big bar, bar tables and booths. The back room is quieter, lots of wine stacked around. The service is always great, and the food is very good, with great choices. The tuna poke is good, but could use a few more crackers. The pork chop was cooked perfectly and complemented by the sides. My favorite is the Turkey burger, which is a nice, Asian twist on a burger. It juicy with the crunchy slaw. Overall, everything was great. I enjoyed their prime rib very much. It had great flavor with appropriate sauces that balanced things out. I asked for rare and it was slightly overcooked and could have been little bit more tender. The sides were really good and I would order it again. Asparagus surprised me with organic flavor that was well brought out. Mashed potatoes were creamy and perfectly made. Also enjoyed their happy hour wine, which was only $5. So we we're looking for something nearby, that had good food, and offered an opportunity to people watch...yes, we are those people. Remington's was our pick and to be blunt it was hit and miss. First, the place has a nice steakhouse decor. Wood finishes, a bit dim, a great bar and a wall of wine. So it was nice. At check in we asked to sit near the windows. There were very few people there and the window seats were open but the host seemed put off by the request. However, she did accommodate on the second request. The waiter was friendly but vanished for long periods right at the end of the meal. To be fair, the place started to get a little busier. Again, he was nice and had recommendations. Now, for the most important part, the food. It looked nice but it was only fair tasting. The biggest concern was the temperature. My pork chop and Brussel sprouts were cool, as in the opposite of hot. That really hurt the flavor and experience. The cheese and butter would not melt on my wife's baked potato. This certainly detracted from her meal. Crazy thing, as I checked reviews before eating here I had seen one that mentioned cold food...they were right...I should have listened. I had a big family reunion over this past weekend. Sunday night we decided to attend. 7 people ( I am the only one who lives in Chicago) out of towner. We've heard great review and decided to try. I and another family number had the fish of the day which was red trout with wild rice. The trout was fine, but the wild rice was cold, hot fish, cold rice. It's about 30 to 45 minutes before closing you close up. When the last person finishes eating. We asked for a substitute. The waiter who never came and checked on us and informed us we could not substitute a baked potato, not loaded a regular, but gave us a heaping, serving of cold, mashed potatoes, and could not replate our food. The meatballs and pasta were hard, it was not eaten. 1 of the steaks we had we had to send back twice for it to be cooked for our preference. Again the waiter never checked on us and asked if we needed anything. The manager gave separate out checks and put 6% gratuity on each individual check, and took off two meals. read more

Two slices were probably medium but not a big deal. Deviled Eggs were loaded with lobster and the sauce had interesting flavor but I couldn't distinctly taste lobster. Expected (higher) Prices for quantity and quality was acceptable in my opinion for this type of restaurant in the downtown area. Went a few days ago before Harry Potter. Had high hopes, but...... first off, we're seated at a table for 4, with a chair put on end of table for our 5th person. Was told "this is what we have". Mind you, it was early with empty tables. So we're starting off cramped with our coats crowding the seats. Waiter was ok at first, then after that he must have not been happy that only one of us ordered alcohol....he was giving another table that had 2 bottles of wine a ridiculous amount of attention. My husband sent his steak back because it was full of gristle. Don't know if that annoyed him or not. But we literally couldn't get his attention for tea or water refills. I wanted another glass of wine. Nope!! Not to be. We couldn't even ask about dessert or coffee since he never came back!! By this time we really needed the check so we could make the play. Very disappointing service to say the least. We all expected better for downtown Chicago and that price point. We go to shows but this restaurant will be marked off our list. I made these reservations about six weeks ago, from Tampa FL with Mallory, the Director of Events planning. We were welcomed by the front of the house staff, and asked to wait briefly as they completed the finishing touches in "The wine room" which was amazing. The manager, January and the server, Scott gave us honestly some of the best service I've had in a long time. They made my parents 50th wedding anniversary celebration a wonderful success. Came here for the first time with a friend for lunch. The restaurant was bustling with people from different companies and tourists. On my visit, we ordered the salmon and tuna. The salmon was delicious, a straightforward dish that was perfect for lunch. The tuna surprised me. I really enjoyed how it was prepared! Sidenote: the rice could have used a little less salt. It was prepared with Kimchee and was good, but could improve with a touch of more sesame oil and less salt. Kimchee is naturally salty! Great food and service, and nice ambiance! read more

Remington's is a good place for after work happy hour or pre-theatre dinner. The happy hour is only available at the bar. I was hoping for appetizer specials but our server said it was only for alcohol. Bummer! We had dinner at one of the high tops by the front window. In the summer, there is outdoor dining right in front of the window where we were seated. Our server greeted us and explained the specials and gave us plenty of time to gather our order. In the end I opted for the burger and fries. The burger was good overall. It had some heft to it. The stick fries were amazingly not overly crunchy, which I feel is more often than not. However, I was impressed how "chewable" the fries were! We had a 7:30 pm show and so service was pretty quick. We had plenty of time for dinner and coffee afterwards before needing to moseying onwards. Did you know that Remington's is part of a restaurant group and there is a loyalty program? What a beautiful space! Perfect lighting and not a bad seat in the house. The staff is very friendly and attentive and the food is divine. I started with a Moscow mule; dry January is over. Lol. I did go with the restaurant week menu but I just had to try the lobster deviled eggs. Not at all like grandma's. In fact, the best I have ever eaten. The oil they drizzle over the top, truly elevates the flavor. The tuna poke was very fresh and tasty, served with warm house made chips. Visiting Chicago on vacation with my girlfriend and happened on this steakhouse. The atmosphere was relaxed and refined and the service was some of the best I've ever had. Our server was friendly, well-informed about the menu and she had a nice balance of checking in and allowing us some space to talk. The food was excellent. I got the French Dip and side of fries. Just look at that sandwich, it was huge. Definitely felt like I got a great value. The au ju was flavorful and hot and the fries had a perfect balance of salt.
