For the first night of my stay in Chicago, I was looking for a place to grab dinner that was within walking distance from Millennium Park and had great reviews, and that is how I found this place! Upon entering, the staff was attentive and guided my mom and me to our table (which faced the busy street with plenty of views for people to watch). The server served us water immediately, and we got our drink order in less than one minute. Given that the restaurant was not busy yet for dinner time, in less than 10 minutes, the dinner crowd started to pick up in this restaurant. The ambiance of this place was inviting and cozy. There were still Christmas decorations here and there in the restaurant, which added to the pleasant atmosphere of the place. I ordered a gimlet and their house burger, which was super delicious and juicy with the perfectly cooked burger meat (I ordered medium rare), and my mom ordered their fish of the day option. She also enjoyed her meal and finished everything except for the last bit of her fries. We ordered a skillet-baked cookie topped with vanilla ice cream for dessert. It was the perfect dessert to end a delicious meal. My mom and I enjoyed our time here for dinner, and I highly recommend this place if you are ever in Chicago. read more

Over the summer of 2023 Kelly and I popped in here for lunch while enjoying a downtown staycation. It was an inspired choice. The lunch menu is the dinner menu, which is a bit of a drawback as there isn't much light fare, but there are sandwiches, and one of them, i'm pleased to say, is amazing. The au jus roast beef sandwich is the bomb! The tender roast beef may be the best in the city. The fries are of the skinny McDonald's variety and are also superb. Its a must order and worth a trip for that alone. The cocktails are extremely well made and the wine list has a couple affordable rose options for a sunny summer afternoon. Bravo! read more

Remingtons feels like home to me, as I go there for lunch at least once a month. The menu has something for everyone, hearty eaters and people who want only a glass of wine and an appetizer. Everything is well prepared, and the hot items are hot and the cold items cold. Last week, I had a lunch there that stands out as one of the best meals I have ever eaten - seared duck breast with a blueberry port wine sauce, mashed sweet potatoes, and asparagus. Remingtons is centrally located by the park and a great spot if ur going to the theaters for a play. The old fashion was one of the best I've ever had 10. It was a makers and not the old fashion they are famous for. Pretty much same ingredients different liquor. The pork chop was under cooked and had to be sent back. The french fries were excellent as was the mashed potatoes. The tuna Poke was one of the best I've had 9.5. The lobster deviled egg was underwhelming not bad, just not great I give it a 5. Ribs were not great my guest liked them I was not a fan, so that's a toss up. Neither one of us liked the Brussel sprouts give that a 4 lol. Ambience was an 8 very warm and inviting. However the bar staff lacked attention to customers, they had time to talk to coworkers but no time to talk with any of the patrons, they were not neglectful however could have been more professional in that one regard. The other negative is they charge a 3% fee. Assuming this a credit card fee, I have never heard of this at a restaurant, this on a $17 old fashions adds up. Very uncouth! Also three times they put other tables food on our table and one big issue I have is they took my half eaten pork chop and the small piece I cut but didn't eat placed back on the grill and reserved it rather then simply cooking another, most decent places would never place ur half eaten food on a grill other peoples food is cool on or beside for obvious reasons and second they should at the very least they have replaced the sauce and sides as they get cold and old. Overall it was good, not great, I would go back for the old fashion and to try the famous prime rib. However it's never good when pork is obviously undercooked and charging frivolous fees is poor taste. read more

Several of us went Remington's tonight for dinner and a very solid meal. The atmosphere was perfect and the ambiance wonderful a great space and not to noisy to have conversation. We started out with some oysters on the half shell, spinach dip and their filet sliders. The oysters were very fresh and the mignonette was delicious. The filet sliders were cooked perfectly. Winners at the table were the crab cakes full of crab an and very little filler. The No. 8 tuna was superb and the prime rib perfectly cooked medium rare. Have always heard about the great happy hour so I met a friend there at the bar. By the way, which is the only place you can enjoy the happy hour drinks and food specials. The bartender took forever to wait on me as he was standing at the other end of the bar with his legs crossed, leaning back chatting with another employee. I had to wave him down to get him to come bring me some water and take my drink selection. The very same thing happened the next time I wanted a drink. And the same thing happened when my friend arrived and wanted a drink. The oysters were OK, nothing fabulous. They used to be a dollar each they're two dollars each. The front end staff were amazing, the people at the hostess stand were warm and welcoming. While we were seated at the end of the bar having a conversation, two of the waiters came up, leaned up against the end of the bar where we were and had a long conversation, we could hardly hear what we were saying to each other because of them.it was a very odd experience. It has been awhile since I've been here but I have to say my ratings remain the same. We got here and were able to get patio seating with our dog immediately. Appreciated that they provided our dog with some water when they were serving our water. We ordered Crab Benedict, Mini Filet Sliders and Mahi Mahi fish sandwich. -Mini filet sliders were tasty but not amazing. -Crab Benedict was okay but it came with a potato casserole dish on the side and it was way too salty so we couldn't eat it. -Mahi Mahi fish sandwich was too salty but the fries that came with it was good (similiar to the shoestring fries and not too salty). I had a big family reunion over this past weekend. Sunday night we decided to attend. 7 people ( I am the only one who lives in Chicago) out of towner. We've heard great review and decided to try. I and another family number had the fish of the day which was red trout with wild rice. The trout was fine, but the wild rice was cold, hot fish, cold rice. It's about 30 to 45 minutes before closing you close up. When the last person finishes eating. We asked for a substitute. The waiter who never came and checked on us and informed us we could not substitute a baked potato, not loaded a regular, but gave us a heaping, serving of cold, mashed potatoes, and could not replate our food. The meatballs and pasta were hard, it was not eaten. 1 of the steaks we had we had to send back twice for it to be cooked for our preference. Again the waiter never checked on us and asked if we needed anything. The manager gave separate out checks and put 6% gratuity on each individual check, and took off two meals. read more

It was hard as a rock. It felt like a day old brownie. Price - we did the restaurant week lunch but we also got a couple things from the menu. It's reasonable price to be honest. Went to Remington's for a birthday dinner celebration and had a great time. The staff is very friendly and they validate parking! You have to try their Mini filet sandwiches. I also recommend the Prime Rib--it was super tender. I replaced the baked potato with mashed potatoes which I encourage because the mashed potatoes were perfectly garlic-y and light. The chicken was tender but not worth the price. They also gave us a complimentary ice cream dessert for the birthday. Went a few days ago before Harry Potter. Had high hopes, but...... first off, we're seated at a table for 4, with a chair put on end of table for our 5th person. Was told "this is what we have". Mind you, it was early with empty tables. So we're starting off cramped with our coats crowding the seats. Waiter was ok at first, then after that he must have not been happy that only one of us ordered alcohol....he was giving another table that had 2 bottles of wine a ridiculous amount of attention. My husband sent his steak back because it was full of gristle. Don't know if that annoyed him or not. But we literally couldn't get his attention for tea or water refills. I wanted another glass of wine. Nope!! Not to be. We couldn't even ask about dessert or coffee since he never came back!! By this time we really needed the check so we could make the play. Very disappointing service to say the least. We all expected better for downtown Chicago and that price point. We go to shows but this restaurant will be marked off our list. Had an opportunity to join another family to share dinner at Remington's with the city being crowded for some festive activity outside. We had reservations at the prime dinner timeslot. There are plenty of entrees to choose that caught my eye. I ordered the prime beef and a platter of mini sliders. I was on a tight schedule and was on a rush to catch the train. I put in my order as a rush for and to my surprise, I got the entree's fast. How fast? Less then 10 minutes fast, I dishes were piping hot. The service was impeccable and entree's was delicious. The back room is quieter, lots of wine stacked around. The service is always great, and the food is very good, with great choices. The tuna poke is good, but could use a few more crackers. The pork chop was cooked perfectly and complemented by the sides. My favorite is the Turkey burger, which is a nice, Asian twist on a burger. It juicy with the crunchy slaw. So we we're looking for something nearby, that had good food, and offered an opportunity to people watch...yes, we are those people. Remington's was our pick and to be blunt it was hit and miss. First, the place has a nice steakhouse decor. Wood finishes, a bit dim, a great bar and a wall of wine. So it was nice. At check in we asked to sit near the windows. There were very few people there and the window seats were open but the host seemed put off by the request. However, she did accommodate on the second request. The waiter was friendly but vanished for long periods right at the end of the meal. To be fair, the place started to get a little busier. Again, he was nice and had recommendations. Now, for the most important part, the food. It looked nice but it was only fair tasting. The biggest concern was the temperature. My pork chop and Brussel sprouts were cool, as in the opposite of hot. That really hurt the flavor and experience. The cheese and butter would not melt on my wife's baked potato. This certainly detracted from her meal. Crazy thing, as I checked reviews before eating here I had seen one that mentioned cold food...they were right...I should have listened.
