This place is the best. They have a great selection of basically every outdoor need - clothes, hiking gear, chairs, boots, sandals. I get my snowboards serviced every year for a reasonable price. I bought my wife a bicycle a couple years ago and today I bought my 8 year old his first big boy bike. He was very excited. The Bike shop staff were super knowledgeable and got my boy's bicycle ready by installing the kick stand and bell. The service overall is outstanding.

I like the quality of REI's merchandise, and some brands I can only find in their stores. I love the service and the goods at REI stores. I'm enjoying the shopping in this location. This REI has a lot of parking available. Also, more of my favorite restaurants are in this shopping center next to REI. The area has become more attractive to me. The workers are very friendly and helpful in this location. The store is always spotless and organized. This is one of my favorite stores.

My sister needed some weatherproof boots here and I decided to tag along. First time visiting a REI. Pretty cool store seeing all of the different tools/gadgets/clothing for outdoors-y activities (hiking, camping, rock-climbing, snowboarding, etc.). My sister got assistance in the shoes section pretty quickly and the lady helping her was very friendly. Nice that the prices for the Blundstone boots here are pretty much the same as in the Blundstone website. I docked a star because organization of the store could be better (there are small pockets of clothing racks scattered throughout the store and I wished they were all clumped into one spot). Finding parking is downright easy for this place (huge lot).

Of the 3 REI locations around Greater Sacramento, this one continues to be my favorite. Quite frankly it always boils down to the staff. The Folsom REI has consistently provided me with exceptional service from the moment I walk in and am greeted. I am always offered assistance l without having to search for it, and I find that this location in particular employees real experts in their departments. Recently, I had stellar service from Laura in the backpack department. An experienced backpacker herself, she was able to properly measure and fit me while explaining several features within the various brands to help me choose the perfect one for my needs. Laura really knows her stuff and spent a great deal of time passing some of that knowledge onto me, including a little secret about the garage sale that I plan on using. This location continues to impress me and I find myself driving a little further just to shop here because of it. Plus, they just started renting snowshoes here again.

    Cotopaxi Down Jacket

REI is the place to go for anyone who needs new shoes, clothes, bikes, accessories, and other miscellaneous outdoor gear. There are many high quality products for an affordable price, such as the Cotopaxi Down jacket or Brooks Adrenaline GTS shoes (shown in pictures below). The staff are attentive, helpful, kind, and always manage to find exactly what you're looking for. The ambience of the store is very cozy - lighting is pleasant, the music is not loud, and everything is organized precisely. Next time you're looking for a bike lock, winter gear, or some camping equipment, consider REI.

Guys in shoes section are not friendly at all. Very disappointed. But we shopped over $300. Maybe will go to other location next time.

I was given an ETA of a week but the bike showed up yesterday (4 days after I ordered it) and was ready to roll. The rest of the staff is awesome too. I had to bring the bike in today because some punk made me hit a pole and bent my derailer hanger. They fixed the bike while I waited and didn't charge me. I'm assuming they didn't charge because I just picked up the bike yesterday. Either way, I love that shop and will happily send my friends and family there!

They didn't have the Checkpoint in stock so they ordered it and told me it would show up in a week. 9 days went by so I called to check in and see if they had an ETA since the bike was two days late at that point. It was then that I was told by an employee that the bike had north of a month long backorder. The employee seemed surprised that the manager who sold me the Checkpoint didn't tell me that it was backordered. At this point, I was not OK with having been deceived into this deal so I said I wanted my bikes back or a cash refund. I went in to the Trek store the day after my phone call with the employee and the manager lied to my face saying he didn't know there was a backorder. Nice try. I work for an auto dealership. We can see when cars and parts are backordered. A couple days went by and the employee called me again last Tuesday to inform me that they had found a bike in Tennessee and could have it in my hands by the weekend and asked if I wanted the bike or store credit. I chose the bike. The weekend came and went and still no bike so my brother called on my behalf since I didn't have time to call today 4/27/2026 and they told him the bike would show up tomorrow but would not be able to be built until Friday because their "builder" is out until then. More lies. Anybody in that store could build the bike. I know this because everyone in the El Dorado Hills store builds bikes. At this point, I now have a Giant Revolt 2 (I strongly suggest trying that bike) that will be my bike and I will be selling the Checkpoint for cash when I have it in hand because I am 100% done with Trek. I will be having it inspected by a trusted shop first before I sell it though because I now don't trust Trek Folsom to not sabotage the bike since I have been very clear about my displeasure both in this review and the survey I got in an email. I will NEVER do business with Trek again and will do everything in my power to direct everyone I meet away from Trek. This Checkpoint would have been my 4th Trek bike and after this experience, it will be my last for sure. Nice going guys. You drove away someone who was planning to ride your bikes for life! Great business! Anyway, if you want an awesome gravel bike, go to Mike's Bikes in Folsom and check out the Giant Revolt 2. I should probably be thanking Trek because had it not been for this experience, I never would have wound up with a far superior bike. Anyway, negative 1,000,000 stars for these guys.
