We were in the area and had some time so we wandered into Dick's Sporting Goods to browse. You can find just about anything sports related. They offer sports equipment and clothing! If you're adventurous, they have outdoorsy equipment! Kayaks to camping equipment! There's fishing to hiking as well. Wake boards to life vests. There's shoes for all! All types of sports shoes. Basketball, baseball, golfing, hiking, and much more! Their clothing lines are from big names like NorthFace to Nike! Men's and women's. They offer wellness products, too. They have supplements to energy drinks. They even have a fan shop area of all different sports! You can shop by teams! They have shirts and hats! If you're in need of a workout outfit, they have that, too! Overall, a big box store for the sports fans! You don't have to be athletic to shop here. They have nice quality brands. Yes, it's pricey. Check out their sale items. Oh heck! Check out clearance items for a deal! Employees were outgoing and friendly. read more

My hairdresser is near Dick's so I occasionally pop in when I am there. It is located in the Willow Creek Shopping Center in Folsom. I will say the store is always packed with inventory. And the selection is great. Trendy AND a large variety of items too. Including sports equipment for every recreational activity! Very nice layout. Organized. Clean. Bright lighting. Service A-plus. There has not been one visit where someone has not come up to me and asked if I needed help. That in itself is impressive. Unless there is a sale going on things are pricey in my opinion. But as they say you get what you pay for. I did buy a pair of Hoka walking shoes last year and they have held up wonderfully and are so comfortable. All in all, I highly recommend Dick's Sporting Goods for having plenty of inventory and wonderful service. They definitely have you covered. read more

Have been here a handful of times and this recent time we were looking for some exercise bands. I happen to have found some useful back massagers and also got to play in the putting green area. They definitely have a wide array of things but they are mostly on the pricier side. It looked like they were doing a re-model inside hence the aisle of shoes on display or unless they were just trying to sell those fast. The shoes in aisles were not marked down and were all very pricey from $100 and up so I'm thinking it's because they're moving things around in the store. Overall, this store was clean and open, had a lot of things to look at. One thing that was lacking was customer service. When we came in, there was an associate who looked right at us but was more busy scanning the shoes then to greet the customers. In fact, in the whole time we were there was minimal associates walking around to help/greet. This has been the experience I've had here. But if you go to a Big 5, you get asked if you need help finding anything. Perhaps, this store was just a little short-staffed that day or it's just too large of a store to have customer service. Although sporting goods stores are becoming hard to find, I wouldn't go back to this store unless I had no other choice. Weak selection of clothing sizes, brands intermixed with other brands, and a frustrating process of having to find an employee to get access to a room to try things on. More importantly, the price of equipment in virtually any category is outrageously high. It also appears that the equipment on the showroom floor may not be current or state of the art, which only makes the pricing even more aggravating. Lastly, service was just "OK". The only sporting goods store that is worse is Big 5. read more

I got a gift certificate as a retirement gift for Dick's Sporting Goods. The nearest store is in Folsom. The person who gave me the certificate said to buy fishing lures with it. Got there, beautiful store. I saw some ice chests that interested me. No price tags. Looked for a sign, nothing. Went back to the fishing department and all the aisles were blocked by carts of merchandise. I tried several aisles and they were all blocked with carts of merchandise, clothes etc... I worked in a sporting goods store in the Bay Area years ago and We would have been fired so fast if we started storing merchandise and blocking access to whole departments. I left. Maybe I can cash in my gift certificate for cash and go to a real store. read more

Shoes? You want to buy shoes? Good luck with that nightmare! They decided to be upscale and just have 1 shoe of each type out instead of all the boxes on shelves. Do they have your size, your colorway choice? You'll need to hunt down an employee to have them check for you. Oh, that size doesn't quite fit right? Time to go back on the hunt for said employee. I bought a Bote paddle board from Dicks approximately 1 year ago. It ended up getting a hole in the side. I called Bote and Bote referred me to where I bought the actual paddle board from. After calling Dicks customer service, they stated it had a 1 year warranty and I needed to go into the store and speak with a manager. We ended up going in and speaking with Andy who was amazing. He told us that customer service provided us with incorrect information and he would do whatever he could to get us an exchange/refund. He spent more than an hour on the phone with customer service, IT, and managers before resolving the issue as best as he could. We are thankful he did everything he could do and greatly appreciate his time and patience. read more

I have bought multiple big-ticket sports items from Dick's and the overall quality has been good. I had to make some adjustments to my bike to get it to work correctly but its fun to ride now. I like the selection of shoes they have, especially Brooks which I need for my plantar fasciitis. Overall, you can expect above average value and quality for above average prices. Staff is mostly friendly, however, it is clear that management barely trains their staff. Most don't seem to know where merchandise can be located, if they have something, and rather than trying or asking another staff member, it's kind of a "why don't you go look" type attitude. We went to purchase a couple small balls with my young toddler. We grabbed one out of a 3.99 bin. When we went to pay, the cashier couldn't figure out how to ring it up. She finally called the manager over, Alex, who couldn't figure it out either. They spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to look it up, when we finally said it was in the 3.99 bin, just go look. With an attitude, Alex replies "where's that?" Really? You don't know where in your store that is? By the enormous wall of sports balls? He left, and we waited and waited. 10 minutes goes by, he comes back, and says he couldn't find any like it so he couldn't sell it to us because he didn't have a SKU. There was about 100 balls in the 3.99 bin, you couldn't scan a similar one? Are you kidding me? You're not going to sell me merchandise in your store because you can't find any others? He made up some excuse that it was originally part of a set. Ridiculous. The whole stupid process took over 15 minutes, with an antsy toddler at the checkout. We went back two days later to get something else, and were curious if we could find the "set" he was talking about. Low and behold, we found another ball exactly the same, with a SKU, sold individually, in the 3.99 bin! So thanks Alex, not only for your lack of knowledge of your store, but your poor customer service. read more

I work in Folsom so this is a well located stop for sports stuff. So many bigger sports stores have shut lately I was glad to see this go in. It's a big store but the selection was only so - so. They have a lot of stuff but not a lot of brand variety. I did find what I was looking for but my options were limited and I like more choices. Customer service is okay. I have been asked the times I have been in here if I needed help. They called for cashier backup when the line got long on one visit. They really pushed the member reward card the first time I was there. A simple no wasn't working for the card, so the cashiers must be under pressure to get the cards out. Prices seemed about average for the type of store. Better deals online but if you need it now, it's not so bad. I would come here again since it's convenient and you will probably find some form of what you are looking for. read more

I have only been here a few times but mainly to shop for other people. But I recently received a gift from here, a pair of shoes, and unfortunately they were too tight. Today, I went in to exchange for a bigger size. Not only was the staff more than understanding, but the lady was super helpful and kind. The transaction was simple and I ended up finding an even better pair of shoes that fit me perfectly. We ended up buying a new pair of thin, low, and black ankle socks that go great with my new footwear. I was very pleased and I would suggest this place. The overall place is organized similar to other sporting good places. It offers clothes, shoes, and activity tools for most active sports. Everything from swim to golf. This is a really great shopping option if you're in need. I would say what makes Dick's standout over competitors is that they offer high end brands. When given the option to ship to my house to arrive 7 days later, or pick up at the store for next day pick up...it was a no brainer to pick up at store. Unfortunately, when I arrived to pick up the shoes at Folsom they tried to give me the "display" pair of shoes, and acted like it was no big deal. What a disappointment!! I really enjoy browsing at this store. They have lots of good golf gear; my clubs are actually from this location. The reason I love browsing this shop is that the staff doesn't bother you too much. For some, this might be a downside, but, to me, this makes my shopping experience much better. I don't like to have people coming up to me asking if I need help each time I turn a corner. That being said, the staff at this location isn't the kindest when you actually talk to them, but it's not bad enough to bother me. They look like they want to go home (I suppose it's not that they aren't nice; they simply don't look happy). I was looking for some camping supplies online and found them at Dick's. Their prices were very reasonable before using a coupon I received via email. I opted for the in store pickup as I wanted to check out the store. The store is clean, organized, and well maintained. Parking is easy as their lot is huge. I found the staff to be friendly, helpful, and polite. Service for checkout and my online pickup could have been slightly better but they were slightly understaffed and appeared to be busier than normal for a weekday. I really liked their store and believe it will be a nice replacement to the recently out of business Sports Authority here in Elk Grove. I'm looking forward to them opening the location here in the near future. I'm really looking forward to trying out my new camping cot as well as my new snorkeling fins. read more

I called on 6/30 to see if they were still doing golf club re-gripping, they said yes and to bring in clubs. Got there at 11:15 and waited almost 8 minutes after waving to store employees at the club fitting area. No one arrived until I went and got someone to help. The person I spoke to couldn't care less about me and told me that the grips most people ordered grips online then brought in to install The selection of grips they did have was poor and most grips didn't have enough to do 12 clubs. Again when asked the employee couldn't care any less and didn't even respond to me when I asked if that was all the grips they had in stock. This is the second time I have experienced this type of service. First time was three weeks ago when I was looking for new golf shoes at the same Folsom store. I ended up buying shoes at another store and going to Ifit golf to get my clubs re-gripped. I spent over 350.00 and willo not go back to Dicks as there are so many other better options out there read more

I have had nothing but bad experiences at this store since it opened. Every time we go in to look for sports shoes or cleats they never have the sizes we need. It doesn't matter if I'm looking for something that's in season or out of season. You would think that prior to little league or soccer season starting that they would have a good selection of cleats and sizes, but they don't. I don't know why I even bother going there because every time we end up at the specialty sports stores elsewhere. Today when we went in looking for futsal shoes, surprise surprise they didn't have the sizes we needed in either style available. The shoes were also all mixed up. Soccer cleats that were on the complete opposite site of the display were mixed in which made it even difficult to find the correct style. On top of all of this, there was an employee who clearly didn't have enough work to do. We saw him bouncing a ball through the store and then afterwards was repeatedly squeaking a dog toy. It was obnoxious and annoying. Needless to say we walked out purchasing nothing and are heading to the speciality soccer store where I may spend slightly more but they will have what we need and have much better customer service. read more

Went in to buy a cheap basketball, saw lots of options in the $4.99 bin, grabbed one went to the front. Rang up as $14.99. No big deal mistakes happen, but when I mentioned the price discrepancy they acted like I was lying? Didn't offer to go check, just said oh yeah that's not the price then. I went and got the 8 other balls that were in the bin. Again, no big deal that there was a price discrepancy. The dismissive attitude was insulting. Manager was right there and didn't seem to care about there awful customer service. Woulda been happy to pay the right price for the ball had they simply went to check and then explained the error. Instead they treated me like I was trying to pull a fast one. Terrible look. Might wanna teach your staff and management some customer service and communication skills. read more
