I came into Boot Barn today genuinely excited to find a new pair of boots, but unfortunately left without making a purchase, despite finding a pair I LOVED, because the customer service made me feel so uneasy. An employee named Christy made the experience incredibly uncomfortable. From the moment she approached us, she was aggressive and overly pushy, pressuring us to consider items we weren't even looking for. I had a few reasonable questions about styles and fit, especially since I've owned boots before, but she made me feel unintelligent for asking, even though she initially offered to help. At one point, we inquired about a pair of boots that looked visibly worn and several shades lighter than the newer version on display. When we asked if a newer pair in our size was available, we were told that was all they had and that ordering online would result in receiving the same, faded pair. The tone of the interaction felt more like a hard sell than genuine assistance. It was one of the most uncomfortable shopping experiences I've had. I truly hope management takes this seriously, because customers should never feel pressured, dismissed, or talked down to, especially when they're ready to buy. A little training and empathy could go a long way for Christy. read more

I would like to shoutout Buck for the wonderful service! Went above and beyond to help me find some good work boots. Needed some new ones bad and over 3 years so i had to retire them. Walked inside looked at the selections and couldn't make my mind. Then Buck comes and asks me if i needed some assistance. He then went with all my options and gave me all their benefits and some boots that fits my specific type of work. He then mentioned Thorogood and was curious since i've had friends tell me how good they are. Buck had me sold immediately once he told me they're super durable and as time goes by it gets comfier. I went in to shop for something for a concert I was going to go to in Wheatland. So I was looking for capri's possibly, not jeans. Upon entering the store I saw a lot more clothes racks inside (unless they rearranged it to look that way). Okay, that gave me hope. However, I started looking around and noticed how many jeans and a few shorts were in stock. I noticed other customers in there were getting approached and asked if they needed help with anything. I however, did NOT get approached. I don't know if it's because I was in shorts and a t-shirt, or I just threw my hair up to run some errands (hot and tired), or if it's because I'm older. I finally had to go to the desk and ask if they had capris and I was led to a rack with a few. I really didn't feel that I was getting any kind of customer service, so I left. Too bad because I had a lot to spend, you should never judge customers by their appearance/age or whatever. read more

Probably the best place to get quality jeans! The service was pretty good too. Okay, the service was excellent. Courtney, Brie and Bethany were great! Why you may ask? Well, upon entering the store I was greeted and not just a standard greeting but actually engaging conversation! What a nice surprise. I can't express to you how good the experience and customer service was during our visit. We came in here a bit intimidated and left thoroughly educated on everything cowboy boots! I learned what to look for with my wide foot and my finance actually found his perfect pair of boots. I found the perfect brand and fit as well but had to go online to order since the color I was looking for wasn't in stock but we both were so happy to meet Derrick and Courtney who helped us find the perfect boots. Bethany was awesome at getting us set up in the right place after she greeting us when we first walked in and also with helping us with available discount while checking us out. To say my experiences at this BootBarn have been less than satisfactory would truly be an understatement. My grandson and I shopped at this location Christmas of '22 and spent over $600. Two $80 western dress shirts ($160) had to be returned due to holes through the back of the shirts caused by wrongly placed security tags. One of which shirts was ordered (same shirt and size) from a sister store and STILL had the security tags in the same exact spots. Creating holes. The return process for those shirts were quite smoothe, to say. They had a belt for $39 and put a tag of $45 right over it but both prices still showing, and almost didnt honor the lower price. At that store visit they also tried selling me a pair of Moonshine Spirit boots with deep visible scratches on only one boot and tried telling me it was distress. Hahaha. As if solid colored boots aren't supposed to look similar. As well as a shirt I got off of the Clearance rack and they tried to get me to pay full price. As if. One of the managers there Kevin, had told us both in front of other customers that since we bought these item for Christmas, that he would make an exception to the pair of (Cody James Jeans size 29x34 for $55) on an exchange or a return if the jeans happened to shrink or not fit correctly into January and February after wear and wash, since they are preshunk. Which he stated they normally DO NOT do, due to their companies policies. But at that, he gave his word that he would do so. After purchasing the other few items that we were satisfied with we returned home. Fast forwarding from the week before Christmas of 2022 to now Feb. 20th 2023. The jeans have been washed once and hang dried just last week. Today they do not fit the same and after measurement they have shrunk in length from a 34in inseam to a pull of a 33in inseam. Which I was told would not shrink. I called and spoke with the manager Kevin (mentioned earlier) to inform him that what he, my grandson and myself had spoke about upon buying the jeans had u fortunately happened. He remembered exactly who we were. After explaining, he got a little rude and stated that he never said such a thing and they wouldn't accept a return of any kind since they were worn and washed. (complete opposite of what he gave his word on.) After Kevin repeating himself a few times he then said he would no longer deal with us and is going to hang up the phone. We asked if he was going back on his word or follow through which he again said he would not deal with us any longer and is hanging up the phone. Of course I didn't let him get that click in before I let him know how much of a liar and a fat mouth he is. Beware of this bootbarn, the manager who runs it is a fake and a fraud. If I could give a negative review based on this Manager and another employee than my starred review would be -5. Sarah and Derrick are not included. These two employees are the best. read more

The first word that comes to mind to describe my experience at this store is "uneasy". We were greeted immediately by Christy. She asked what we were looking for and let her know we came in to browse, we had nothing in particular in mind. She stuck around for several uncomfortable minutes trying to strike conversation while insisting my boyfriend try on a flannel. She touched his shoulder and arm letting him know it looked good on him as I am standing right there. Regardless, know your boundaries- it is not necessary to touch customers in order to give them a compliment. To try and keep this as short and simple as possible... anytime I saw an employee they were looking our way as if they had been watching us. My boyfriend was trying on a vest and Christy comes over to comment on how it looks on my boyfriend. Mind you, before she walks over there is already ANOTHER employee a younger gentleman who came up to us like 3 minutes after we were greeted by Christy to ask what we were looking for. We walk away so my boyfriend can look at himself in the mirror and also try on another vest he was interested in. Christy follows and stands there trying to strike up more conversation as my boyfriend is trying on the vests. Later my boyfriend suggests for me to try on a hat, so I do. I turn to look at him and see another employee (I don't know her name but she was wearing a green flannel and she had short brown hair) staring at me with an ugly glare in her eyes. I put the hat back she walks by my boyfriend and I and hesitantly asks if we are finding everything OK. She walks down one of the boot isles to tell who I assume is the store manager (Christy had referred to him as her boss earlier on) something and they both look our way. I wish I was over exaggerating how many times I noticed the employees looking our way and how many times we were approached. I was a manager for a clothing store myself and while I understand customer service should be held at top priority, making customers feel comfortable should remain just as important. My boyfriend frequently goes to this location and said this is the first time he has ever felt uncomfortable in this store. He decided not to get the vest because felt the store did not earn his sale. If you look at another Yelper's (Jackie E.) review, she stated she felt Courtney (maybe she's the one I mentioned earlier) had a racist attitude towards latino customers. Her statement definitely validates my feelings. There was a latino customer in the store and after telling Christy several times he wants to look around the store she proceeded to make her presence known and kept talking to him. I could tell by the sound of his voice he just wanted to be left alone. It was mentioned that they do not get commission so, I do not know if overwhelming customers is part of their common practice to gain a sale, but it definitely deterred us from wanting to make a larger purchase (I bought socks). A nice greeting and allowing customers to look around freely without approaching them every 3 minutes should suffice. Very crowded inside- racks placed very close together. They seemed to have good amount of inventory ( I will give them that). And the manager seemed nice, he wasn't breathing down our necks. The Elk Grove location is better in my opinion so I will not be back. read more

I like Boot Barn. It's taken me several years to be able to say those words. My first western wear store was Winchester Western Wear. I miss that store, and what I really miss is old Town & Country Plaza in San Jose because I miss the good old days. Millenials would know Town & Country Plaza as "Santana Row" or simply, "the Row." T&CP was on that land before Santa Row was built. My next love was Western Wearhouse. Home of the 40% employee discount. Those were the days I dressed well. But, I digress. Because of that amazing store, WW, with its huge selection and fabulous employee discount, it took a long time to accept Boot Barn as my new go to for western attire. But alas, I am now a fan of BB. Boot Barn has a good selection of attire and boots. That said, the other locations tend to cater to the dress-up cowboy/girl. Not sure about this location as I didn't have time to visit the boots. I picked up their last Oilskin duster. I'm looking forward to enjoying some horseback rides when the weather is wet. The staff were helpful today - both on the phone and in store. I wasn't ushered out the door right at closing and I was given enough time to fully commit to my purchase. I really liked the fact their store was clean and not crowded with racks as some retail stores can get. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of stock and its not sparse, just nicely spread out. I also loved that there was at least 7-8' in front of one of the mirrors. Proper distance to examine the look you're achieving. So if you are looking for something c&w, particularly riding jeans, or various dress up cowboy/girl boots, I fully recommend visiting this or any Boot Barn. I had an incurable hanker'in for a new pair of kicks. After being incredibly disappointed with another store, I was really happy to find out this place was on our way to our hotel. The minute I walked in, I smiled. They have everything! Rows and rows of boots, racks full of jeans, hats, belts.. you name it. I walked out with a new pair of shiny black boots. I wore them all night and my feet felt great the next day. The sweet cashier signed me up for the rewards club (free). I received a coupon & $30 store credit a couple of days later. LOVE what you sell & what you stand for. The store is super neat to me. The boots were organized as well which in the Rocklin store, you don't get that. But..what are you doing to make your employees feel like they need to come up to guests multiple multiple times to see if they're doing okay? Like "Hey (insert employees name)! Nice to see you for the fourth time. No I'm not looking for boots because I'm going to a country concert. I wear them all the time. & yes. I do have boot shiner & cleaner!" There was a taller, lighter skin, younger gentleman who hung around my fiancé & I quite a bit. He was nice to talk to when we had something to talk about, but made us feel strange in a way because when I was trying to look for boots & try them on, he would lean against one of the rows of boots & just watch. It wasn't like he was looking at the wall of boots, he'd watch us. Awkwardly. Then he'd start a conversation & when we were trailing off of it because it was almost closing & wanted to get a pair before then, he'd go back to leaning against a rack of shoes & watch. Like, is there not anything else to do? We were one of a couple other guests so I don't know if he was bored? I stopped looking at boots & we walked around the mens section. EVERY TIME...every time I have to go to this boot barn I dread it. There has been times where I walk in and not one of the girls in the front even stop from their conversation to greet me. Yesterday I went in to buy a shirt because I couldn't apply the coupon online for some reason. When I approached the counter Fatima was there. I told her what I needed which was to buy this shirt. I came with the item number ready, a screen shot, my coupon in hand but I knew my simple request for assistance would turn into an hour long issue because the staff here is just awful and sure enough IT TOOK HER THAT LONG. First when I gave her the item and things I needed. She looked at her co-worker and rolled her eyes and said "great, I'm so over today"...like her mask makes her sound proof? Where I can't hear her even though I'm standing 2 feet in front of her? She then turned to me and I was looking straight at her and she said" Well then, how was your day?" And I said "Well now I guess about the same as you." The other person at the front name Arianna was I guess trying to help Fatima because she never did an online purchase? So we go through the whole transaction on the iPad and I was standing there waiting for a confirmation but once she selected "place order" she turned off the iPad, didn't say anything to me and then answered the phone to another customer. I stood there and looked at my husband and then I got an email and when I opened it I seen she never applied the coupon...THE WHOLE REASON I WAS THERE. So I stood there and waited for her to look at me. After she got off the phone, talked to her co-worker she turned and looked back at me and said "Can I help you?" And I said "Yes, you never applied the coupon." Then Arianna walked over and said that that's how they process. Boot barn charges you the WHOLE amount and then when the coupon is accepted then will refund me the coupon amount onto my credit card. If that isn't the dumbest thing I've ever heard... So I asked her to reprocess and she said NO. Are you kidding me?... I pushed back and then said that they will reprocess after I call customer care. I said I'm not calling, you call. I came here for help and I expect that. Fatima looked at Arianna and said "Well, I guess I'm gunna go over my 5th hour for lunch." I COULD CARE LESS OMG.... Now I have two orders, three charges, and only one confirmation works. So I'm going to have to call customer care anyways today to fix her mistakes from yesterday. Not looking forward to having to go in for my pickup. Hopefully Fatima has her lunch on time and understand when that even though I'm only two feet away from her, I can still hear her and see her roll her eyes when I talk. What happened to customer service? My apologies for asking you to do your job David. I went into the store tonight and explained to David that I had a pair of boots on lay away. You would have thought I asked for the baby Jesus out of Davids manger scene. He acted put out that he had to go get the boots, and acted even more put out that I actually asked to try them on before purchasing them. Imagine that, I wanted to try on the boots that they had to order because they didn't have my size in to see if they fit, holy elf poop Santa. I bought the boots and asked if he had the box. This mere request made David as frustrated as a parent at their kids Christmas choir performance who thinks it's over only to find out there is an encore. He threw his arms into the air and told me all he had was a bag, and that the boots sold at Boot Barn don't have boxes, which I found kind of odd considering I've been buying boots for the past 25 years and they've always come with a box. He then went onto explain that he could get me a different boot box but it wouldn't be the original box. Whoa Rudolph, you just told me that Boot Barns boots don't come with boxes, so how are you now going to get me a box???? Needless to say, I left without a box. They knew I was a customer but could t find a record of the purchase. I wore them once and somehow there was a large hole below the belt line. Last few experiences here have been less than satisfactory. The employees have a smug unhelpful attitude. On my most recent visit I was looking for a new hat. All of the hats that I liked in my size were damaged and/or stained. I had my eye set on a $110 resistal hat, but it had some warping in the back. They offered to try steaming them out. After 2 employees tried unsuccessfully I was told that is just how hats are and I should just buy a Stetson...... really? If I wanted a Stetson I would have picked one out. Mind you I have worn cowboy hats and boots pretty much my whole life. That is not how new hats are, That's called beat up inventory. Bottom line not digging the atmosphere at this store so much these days. The last few times I have been here I have left with the feeling that the employees are more concerned with acting like they are "authentic country" then actually helping customers. Which is ironic because that is pretty much the least "country" thing you could do. Also as a side note I have noticed I get very different treatment depending if I go in wearing some wranglers and boots vs shorts and a T-shirt. read more

An older woman and her husband had to ask me if I knew of any employee that could help them, we couldn't find anyone besides who was at the cash register. I purchased a pair of boots which were amazing looking by the way. The sales lady was very polite and informative. She provided some thick socks and I tried on the boots. This was my first boot purchase. I tried on size 8.5 which is my normal boot size, but my foot wouldn't go in easily so she recommended size 9 which I tried on and they fit although the left foot was looser and the right boots inside sole was slightly higher than the left. I asked for another pair that hadn't been broken in already and she explained that it takes weeks to break in a boot and so that if I waited several weeks the right boot would feel right and that the left boot was looser than the right because that is the boot her customers had been trying on. I believed her and went with her recommendation. She then used an assumptive close and started telling me some other items I needed and I took her recommendations and purchased the other items she recommended as well. She recommended some other boot socks than the ones I tried on and I purchased those as well. When I got home and got ready to put the boots on I noticed the socks were thinner than the ones she had me try on in the store so now there was more play in the boots but it was still slightly loose and not so bad that I felt I needed to return them at that point. I did at that point start dancing in the boots and the difference in height of the inside heel made me slightly off balance and it was uncomfortable and painful as I started to dance. Next day I returned to the same store and explained the situation to the sales lady that helped me and she said go ahead and try on some new boots and they would exchange the boots. When I tried on the boots with the socks she sold me I was able to fit into the size 8.5 shoes perfectly and so I chose those boots. When I came to the counter the store manager, David explained to me that he would not authorize the return even when I explained that the boots were actually defective because of the heel and that I didn't want to wait weeks until the one boot got broken in like the other one. David was very polite and professional except that he said that "they didn't put a gun to your head". I felt like this was rude and I still have the image in my mind of a gun to my head when I think of the Boot Barn. It's only been a few hours since he mentioned the "gun to my head" comment so hopefully I will have more positive feelings later. I'm sure he didn't realize the effect that saying would have on me personally so I do forgive that and will get over it but maybe could have been a better response. I purchased a hat, boots, shirt, cap, shoe tree, shoe scrubber, shoe treatment, and two pairs of pants and am happy with my purchase with the one exception of the defective, incorrectly sized boots. I will definitely shop here again but now that I am a more educated consumer I will be able to make good decisions on my own without relying so much on the recommendations of the sales associates there, who are very courteous and professional. by the way. I went ahead and paid full price for the pair of replacement boots because I like them so much, especially now knowing that they fit correctly because one of the boots was not tried on by so many customers and already broken in by the other customers. If Boot Barn would now consider refunding the purchase of the first pair of boots I would really be appreciative. read more
