Good ole Handley's Western Wear in Folsom has been a mainstay for over 30 years. Back then, Folsom city development stopped at just two blocks up from the shop and the surrounding land was cattle pastures. Anyway, fast forward to present day.The shop is still in business. That's a testament to good quality brand products (Stetson, Carhartt, Ariat, Wrangler, Levi, Pendleton, Carolina, Tony Llama), pricing, and customer service. That is what keeps me coming back. They carry buckles, baseball caps, mens work boots, mens work wear clothes, womenswear, menswear, children clothes, belts, cowboy boots, and cowboy hats. The clothes include casual wear, work wear, dresses, and baby/toddler/kids size western wear. They even offer hat steaming and belt hole punching. The staff is always welcoming and helpful. The hubs bought a Tony Llama leather belt here last month. A few weeks later, he brought it back in to get an extra hole punched. They did it for free along with another belt that he did not buy from them. Great customer service as always.

This local family owned business has a great deal of heart, it's the kind of place that is best on a slow day when you can stop for a while and chat. That being said it is also very well organized and efficient. I'm impressed with their thoughtful details, such as a small box of socks for children trying on boots, a bin of toys next to the work wear, and the free hat cleaning while you shop. My husband has been shopping here since he was a kid and gets nostalgic for a time when there was fields instead of a traffic light, and school. This time we stopped for Carhartt pants. Somehow he has this ability to test the limits of clothing while doing the most mundane things, sure he has plenty of clothes that have been ruined during physical labor, but what's mind boggling is his ability to wreck an item of clothing doing seemingly nothing. For example one day I saw him accidentally put his thumb through a new shirt by simply pulling it on! You may not know this but not all shops still carry quality Carhartt, my dad ordered a pair online from a different vendor that shall not be named as a gift a couple years back and they were no where near as durable. You will not have this problem at Handley's the Carhartt here is just as durable as it has always been.

If you are a fan of good old American values, awesome western wear, and stylish merchandise thats a lot cooler than those "Bass Pro Shops" hats- Handley's is second to none. My family and I stopped in here on a whim while traveling and I'm sure glad we did. The store has a rich heritage that the owner, who was a complete delight, explained to us, and wow: this place is one of a kind. It's been family owned for 60 years and you can tell they still run it with the same amount of pride and proactive care for the customer as they would if they had opened their doors yesterday. My wife got me one of their branded sweatshirts and hats, and my brothers liked them so much we had to place an online order to get more. You can also tell they do not sacrifice product quality for margins like so many modern stores would- every item they sell is high quality. Stop in or buy online from Handley's- you'll be glad you did, and you'll be hard pressed to find another place like it.

Huge thanks to this young lady for helping with restoration of this old hat. It belonged to my wife's father who passed away when she was only two. It's an incredibly sentimental item and she brought it back to life. Much appreciated!

Went to Handley's Western Wear (hadn't been in, in like 20+ years) anyway, I went there because I have noticed how much better I feel wearing western wear vs "the baggy look " originally was going to get one new pair of boots. But when I walked in, I saw two pairs of boots that caught my eye (see picture). After about an hour (or so) & numerous looks of (have you decided yet) - just kidding. They were very helpful and insistent that I take my time finding the right pair in color and size. I am truly grateful I had a chance to get back up there and purchase from a "small family business" Am truly looking forward to my next visit up there

Service was excellent! Helped us find some amazing items for our kids, helping with some pictures and few suggestions. Found some great Mother's Day items as well. We are excited to come back to explore more and find a few other items. Thank you for such amazing service!! Why buying local is so much better and you can support local people.

I came here to look for a pair of black dressy shoes, and I succeeded! This is particularly amazing…read morebecause I have super tiny feet and oftentimes need a size 4 or 4.5. The smallest size they have in store is a 5 (and even those are pretty rare, usually it's 5.5), but if they have the shoe online in the size you need they can order it and ship it to you (for free, I believe). The ambiance is nice and spacious and it was organized extremely neatly. Each shoe design has a display and, for the first time ever, every single box underneath that shoe will actually contain the right size and the right design. I don't think I've ever been to a shoe warehouse as organized as this. I've only been to the DSW in NYC and it was pretty hectic there because there was just so much traffic, so I loved how organized this place is. Do take advantage of the clearance section in the back if you have the feet for it! There were only maybe two or three pairs of size 5 shoes (and both, while cute, were still too big), but if you wear 6-10, you will probably be able to find a great deal or two back there.

Then they want to know everything about you, make sure you haven't somehow put the wrong sized shoes together in a box that might be of lesser value, while inquiring if you found what you were looking for with complete and utter indifference. Oh yeah, I always feel good about shopping in a store that projects an attitude of caring more about making sure no one is stealing over making sure they are finding what they want and need.

Ahhhmazing customer service!…read more On a beautiful Saturday, I had decided to check out Gold Country Run + Sport in the El Dorado Hills Town Center. My GF was raving about the shoe selection and how great and knowledgeable the employees were in fitting sport shoes. When I walked in and started looking around there were no other customers (When I left it was getting busy.). A woman who looked pretty young came out and asked if I needed help. I instantly "kinda" mentally wrote her off as the employee who drew the short straw and got "Saturday" duty and probably knew nothing about shoes. Mea culpa:). Well... I was wrong! She ended up being one of the best persons I have talked to about walking and/or running shoes! She first measured my feet and we went from there. Honestly I did not know that much about the comfort level of a high end sport shoe until that day. What a difference in feel versus my Costco tennies!:) I must have tried on 10 pair of shoes. Finally narrowing it down to a Hoka, Clifton, wide. Ok now I am jazzed. I can hardly wait to start walking in these ultra comfortable shoes. I came in not knowing the difference between a hookah versus a Hoka:) So a big thank you to that young woman. I urge anyone looking for high end shoes, running apparel and, gear needs (Yes needs!) to visit, independently owned, Gold Country Run + Sport. Such individualized customer service. Seriously, I felt like a VIP. Great selection of everything. Inventory displayed professionally. Clean. Competitive pricing. My shoes were on sale. Woohoo! End of summer. I could not be happier with this Company... serving greater Sacramento right here in beautiful El Dorado Hills. Free parking, open 7 days a week, and all levels of fitness welcomed. What a find!

It's been one of those days, so sorry I don't have any pictures to share. The backstory is my…read morehusband has been dealing with Planter Facetious and has gotten some inserts at REI back in December and that got us through 4 grueling days of Disneyworld. Since then he's had flair ups now and then, but nothing compared to this weekend. We walked 8 miles over 2 days in South Lake Tahoe and he was feeling it. Last week he was having a conversation with is coworker who is a runner until she got planter factious. That got talking to him talking about his foot issues to. His coworker suggested we get some of these really tacky shoes that looks like crocs living on a billow. According to her they are supposed to be helpful and at the same time you wouldn't want to be caught dead in them. In their ad they were referred to as recovery shoes. With his cowered suggestion he was finally open to exploring the new shoe option. Previously I tried to turn him to getting some new shoes at REI but, he thought the inserts were good enough so I let the subject drop. I did some research on the shoes his coworker suggested and read mixed reviews on Reddit and other sites. He's in so much pain that we're willing to try anything. Sadly, they don't sell this brand at REI so I talked him into going to REI and giving something they have in stock a try. When I had Planter Facetious my girlfriend turned me to HOKAs. Those weren't an instant cure, but they got me on my way. So, I suggested he give them a try for a daily shoes and another shoe aka a house shoe. From what I have been told you shouldn't go barefoot when you have Planter Facetious. When we got to REI we started our search for a house shoe, the ones his coworkers suggested looked more like an house shoe than a real daily shoe. When I was searching for reviews on the shoes his coworker suggested I got a lead on OOFOS. They were recommended by one of the reviewers that didn't find the other shoes helpful. OOFOS are located in the shoes section on racks near the rubber Birkenstocks. They had lots of OOFOS. Both slide and thong options. He tried both on and went with OOriginal Sandals, the thong styles they were more comfortable. Next for the hard part. Searching for a daily shoe. He tried on many models. Two different styles of HOKAs and Brooks. After walking around the store for around an hour he settled on the Brooks. They are dark grew with a muted red swish on it. Very stylish in it's own way. He just bought a pair of dress shoes that look fabulous and he's sad to not be able to wear them now. Too bad as I really like them. Hopefully after he recovers he'll be able to wear them again. I've been going on a few years now using my HOKAs as my main shoe. I trade off on Sundays to go to church and wear a pretty dress shoes and I recently got a pair of saddles from the geriatric shoe store that are cute and comfy. For my house shoe I use my Birkenstocks. The classic style with the fluff. While he was shopping for shoes I went coat shopping. I wanted a white coat that was fashionable and functional. I found some really cute ones, but they were more fashion then functional. I finally settled on a white rain coat that will be perfect for our trip to Seattle. It's short but not too short that my purse sticks out. I think it's going to be a good additional to my wardrobe and gives me an option to my red raincoat that I got a few years back at REI. Now we're hoping we made the right decisions and all he'll have happy feet. I really hope his feet heal before our trip to AZ where we'll be doing a lot of walking as we explore Horseshoe bend and Antelope Canyon.

He stayed calm, explained exactly how the membership would save me money on the repair, and he was completely right. What struck me was that he kept trying to help me even though I was being uncool because I assumed it was just some scam to get me to sign up for something I didn't need. He also charged me only for the work my bike actually needed instead of a full tune-up, which saved me even more. I hadn't ridden the bike in five years, none of the gears worked, and when I got it back it was flawless. He's a great mechanic and a genuinely cool guy. I even stood around talking with him for about 10 minutes after dropping the bike off. Highly recommended. I'm glad I now know who to call if my bike ever has a heart attack..
