I was here for a good friend who was celebrating her 69th..cancer.."iykyk" birthday, retirement and being cancer free for 5 yrs. I have been to The Reef restaurant so many times, and always have a pleasant experience. The Reef one while was the only restaurant on this side across the water beside the Queen Marry. The very reason I also love this place is free parking with a view, there is a waterfall and a fire pit as you enter plus another fire place to the left with a few wine cellar, there're about 6 event rooms with two patio which one being on the roof top terrace, each room here has a breathtaking view of downtown Long Beach, The staff were very friendly plus attentive to everyone. On one bad note the men's restroom did not have any paper to dry your hands, with so many people here the rest rooms should have not been over look, but I still love The Reef

Chicken with mash potatoes and broccolini

I went to a beautiful wedding on Sunday at the Reef. The views are amazing and the wait staff was kind and prompt. The food wasn't the chicken dinner that I selected was so salty that it was inedible and I felt bad for all the guests that had it. You literally couldn't eat it as it was so darn salty. The 3 stars are for the staff, bartenders and the views. The meal left a lot to be desired. Do better Reef! Folks pay a lot of money to come and have events at your location to not get what they asked for. Do better!!

Great view with a side of some real good bbq

The best comeback in BBQ history is Bludso's at the Reef. I miss these former local guys and their pop-up here at the Reef gave me one of the few joys to end this awful year with an amazing and satisfying plate of barbecue. As I waited for my main order of Kevin's Sampler I sat on the patio taking in the beautiful scenery and enjoying a piece of my BBQ fantasy. Brisket and cornbread with some coleslaw, tasty potato salad and baked beans with a kick. Folks come on out and support these guys here at The Reef and Bludso's. You will definitely love it!

At a retirement party here at The Reef

Here for my buddy Vic's retirement party, this place is hard to find but it's very nice. It's right down the street from The Queen Mary. My girlfriend is tired of me talking about the Queen Mary, she doesn't understand that I'm a Queen Mary Stan. This is a nice place for any type of party.

Lovely evening in LBC.

In my late teens my family and I would frequently dine here after enjoying piano performances by a family friend. I remember heading to LB, gazing at the Queen Mary and heading into the bar area to listen to him play. It's been a decade or two since I've been here and wow, have things changed! Appears there has been a refresh or two, the lobby and bar area seem brighter. We has reservations so we had our choice of a booth or window table, we chose the latter. Service was decent, José was a delightful server - friendly and soft spoken. I thought the drinks took a while to arrive but they were tasty. The glasses were on the smaller side but hey, everything these days seems to have gotten smaller while the price creeps up. We shared the Reef sampler, much too much for 2 people, I was full and almost didn't order dinner, but I did and settled on the filet and scampi. He had the seafood collage. Both were quite tasty, we ended up taking most of our meals home. The sampler was good...except for the Buffalo wings. They were sort of an after thought, absolutely no Buffalo spiciness, these were a miss for both of us. The spinach artichoke dip was quite good, but we did come across a couple of stale/undercooked chips. Calamari was fine with the tangy dipping sauce. A bottle of Conundrum washed everything down. The view was fantastic, valet was swift and only $4.50. This place has a few event spaces and on this night I believe all of them were occupied...so that was one of the drawbacks. One of the event spaces opened up in the dining area we sat so every time a party guest left for a bio or bar break, the extra loud music was obnoxious. Once the door closed though, it was tolerable We both agreed The Reef was probably better back in the day. Today it seems the food lacks anything creative, service could use some fine tuning and before I'd visit again, I'd head somewhere else on my bookmark list.

Expensive but absolutely delicious and an amazing view. I had the salmon and my friend had the ahi tuna. We both really liked it. Our bill which included 2 drinks was $99 so you get the ideas on the pricing. We were staying at the hotel maya next to this restaurant when we saw it and decided to give it a try since we were in the mood for a seafood restaurant and didn't really feel like driving anywhere.

Tell me to meet you somewhere and I'll be there. Simple as that and less stress for me. Anyways, that's how we ended up at this place. Trying to find happy hour with food in the area was somewhat a challenge. Either they were finishing up or it wasn't that interesting on the menu. Of course some places offered amazing drink deals but no food. We ended up here actually across the street still looking up for places but the rooftop patio was what caught our attention. The restaurant itself looked bare as there was no one inside. Still on the early side but noticing people going in and then heading up stairs. After a few debates on here and there, we gave up and found our way here. Checked in with the host, letting him know that we just wanted happy hour upstairs. It was about two flights of stairs which the place looked quite industrial with all the metal beams and stairs. Downstairs was beautiful but completely emptied. Everyone wanted to utilize the rooftop patio as it was beautiful out. We were greeted by someone which mentioned to us that any bar seating was available. There was a section towards the back that was pretty lively. I think it was booked for a group. Instead of the bar area, we asked to sit along the rooftop counter that looks out to the street and building across the street. Way better view and perfect way to spend the afternoon hours. Staff were all pretty sweet and very friendly. Whatever we needed they were they to help. Both the regular menu and happy hour menu were quite impressive. As we just wanted HH, it was given. They had drink special for 10.00 and small bites for 10.00 as well. Didn't hesitate and started off with some drinks. The red sangria with mixed fruits was a nice clean and refreshing treat. Tasteful without that aftertaste. And the Le Pistolet Fumant, a delectable tasty drink with mezcal with a hint of pineapple. And other well drink that was perfect for a nice afternoon. HH drink special was quite tasty to start off. Food wise, started off with an order of the Caesar salad, simple but delicious. Fresh crisp Romaine lettuce and slices of Parmesan and crouton bits. Nice crunch with each bite. The dressing, wow pretty tasty. And an order of the Mac and Cheese . Most places it's either a hit or a miss and let me say it was a HIT. Quite cheesy and full of flavors that a second order was had. A dish I do recommend for HH. We also had an order of the Brussels sprouts which was excellent. A nice glaze and crunchy with chunks of house cured pancetta. Nice big chunks I must say. Lastly the beef sliders with Wagyu beef patties. Honestly, this was the least favorite of the dishes we got. You would think it sounded great but it was quite tasteless and nothing major to report on. Served with brioche bun and shredded lettuce and tomatoes and a lemon aioli. I had high hope for it when I saw the group next to us order it but it was a little disappointing. Overall, the Mac and cheese, Caesar salad and Brussels sprouts were all hits. The sliders, disappointing. Other items on HH didn't look too ingesting for us but it was for other people. The rooftop lounge and bar area was the place to be when we were there. It picked up real fast after we got seated. Picnic style tables being occupied by large groups before HH ended. Just the rooftop alone was great and beautiful. It a place that's good for a drink and meal with friends. Downstairs was beautiful but seemed more of an intimate experience. Overall, it was a great choice for a meal during HH.

One visit we waited over 40 minutes without being acknowledged, another time our order came out wrong, and another time the food arrived cold like it had been sitting for quite a while. Because of that, I honestly did not want to come back tonight. But I was craving a good steak, and after my husband suggested giving 908 another try, I reluctantly agreed. I noticed the filet mignon on the menu paired with broccolini and decided to go for it. From the moment we walked in, the experience felt completely different. The hostess was warm and welcoming and seated us immediately. A young man came over right away with waters and took our drink order, which already surprised us in the best way. Then Alex S came to our table, and he truly made the night exceptional. He was friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful in making sure my order was exactly how I wanted it. I mentioned that I didn't want a large piece of butter melting over the steak, and he happily accommodated that request. He even checked on the exact ounce size of the filet for me, which I appreciated. We ordered the Brussels sprouts appetizer, and honestly, they were the best Brussels sprouts we've ever had. Perfectly cooked, not drowning in sauce, and absolutely packed with flavor. My 8 oz filet mignon was cooked perfectly medium rare, exactly as ordered. The broccolini was crisp, fresh, and not overly oily. Everything tasted thoughtful, balanced, and worth every dollar. Most importantly, Alex S delivered spectacular service from start to finish. We were genuinely shocked to learn this was his first night shift because he handled the dining room with professionalism, warmth, and confidence far beyond what we expected. Thank you, Alex S, for completely changing our impression of 908. Tonight's experience was excellent, and for the first time, we are actually excited to come back. Thanks again, Jed Dornoff

I started with a cup of their beef and barley soup. My wife and I both make this at home from scratch and we're both impressed by theirs. My wife took a taste of mine and instantly ordered her own. Very rich and flavorful. I kept looking at photos of their take on chicken and waffles and knew I had to try it. Seriously epic and was good as it looked. They coated the chicken in a chili rub that gave it a sweet and spicy flavor when paired with their maple syrup. Served on top of a waffle and topped with an egg. I loved it and would probably order again on my next visit. My wife had the American plate which was your classic eggs, bacon, potatoes, and sourdough toast combo. High quality ingredients elevated it beyond your typical diner food. Drinks were great too. I had their house made bloody mary which had a nice kick to it. My wife had their brunch version of a Corpse Reviver cocktail. After our meals were done we finished with an Irish coffee since everyone was ordering them. TLDR; It's expensive, and not worth the routine visit, but worth the one-time stop in to experience the festivities. The Miracle pop-up at The Ordinarie is somehow even more decorated and extravagant than you'd expect from a seasonal pop-up. The line looks long outside, as there are no reservations, but it moves quickly since they hold everybody to a pretty strict 2-hour time limit. The drinks are good, the cups are cute, and everyone is festive. It's an all-around fun experience.  I think because of this, you do pay a premium price tag for food and drinks that are just good or okay. I think it's something that is worth the visit if you've never been and you enjoy getting into the Christmas spirit. I think that outside of the pop-up, The Ordinarie is a fun spot to check out in Long Beach. It't not a pillar of the food scene if you're a tourist, but it is a good, late night spot if you work in the industry nearby. They have a great late-night menu with a killer smash burger.
