2nd time here and the service is always great! It's a hidden little hole in the wall which is fun trying to find it, but it's worth it. The fish and chips last time were great! So we wanted to try it again! The tuna melt had good flavor, a little dry but man was the press on it amazing! Came here in the early morning for their Hot Mess, coffee, and their margarita. The margarita is a little strong but I like it that way. Gravy is a bit thin. My first time to this place, which to be honest it was their 11th anniversary and the place was packed and had live music, so not an ideal time to review a restaurant but glad I came! Having 2 years' experience as a waiter, I know what goes on and believe me, the owner Sherry and her team were swamped but kept everything flowing which was awesome! The staff was friendly and helpful; the food was great and their Bloody Mary's were perfect! The good flow of a restaurant is the leader, and Sherry was right in there coordinating and leading the team. This place has great ambiance, wonderful people and great food. Really cool location tucked away in a marina even a Saturday afternoon we were able to park easily and get seated quickly. Views of the water and boats and port cranes in the distance. Staff is friendly, and the margarita special was a deal. Had Bloody Mary nice and spicy with a bacon celery olive garnish. Ordered the soup flight and the hot mess to try lunch and breakfast and both were delicious. Who has seen a soup flight? Menudo, Pozole and Potato Chowder. It was all so good but the Pozole was my favorite. Worse service ever, I used to come here often but the service has gone downhill. Waited for over a 2 hours to get food. The server took over 20 mins to ask us if we wanted anything to drink but that probably wouldn't have happened if I didn't walk up to her in the first place and tell her that the party next to us got served water first and we were seated before them. If I didn't do that I probably would have been waiting another 20 mins for anyone to come up to us. The only good clam chowder I've had in LA. Easy parking, a great place to meet up with friends in town with small children. We could bring our baby and dog as well without feeling like we were disturbing any of the other people dining there for breakfast as well. This is a hidden gem or at least it was to us. Wilmington Shores!! Yes that's what the sign said! Not only was the location so quaint and peaceful but we had the nicest server- Jessie!. While we were eating, the owner came over to see how we were doing and it was nice to meet her. Sherri really cares about her guests and their experience. I had heard a few things about this place, but never had a chance to make it there. Finally came around and I'm so sad that it took me so long. first the view is spectacular. Saturday was a beautiful cool sunny day and we had a table right on the waterfront and it really just made the whole experience even more enjoyable. If the view wasn't enough the food was also absolutely amazing. We tried their waffle with fruit on top and it was perfectly crunchy and soft. We also had the omelette and chicken fried steak and it was really good. They also had a very good selection of drinks. On top of all of that, the service was amazing. Our waitress explained everything to us, since it was our first time and even brought us samples of the clam chowder, their chili Verde sauce, and the posole. I can't wait to come back on a chilly day and have a bowl of clam chowder as I look at the marina. There was also a live band playing on Sunday, although we missed it since they started just a tad later than we stayed. For breakfast, I ordered the veggie and potato plate with an egg on top and ordered an extra egg. My partner got the scrambled eggs with bacon; I definitely thought my dish was the winner if you're looking for fresh sauteed vegetables. They had zucchini and mushrooms and it just tasted healthy and delicious! We also ordered a fruit plate, which at a steep $7 was a bit underwhelming. The fruits weren't all ripe and I thought the amount of fruit and especially the quality wasn't too generous for the price, so next time I'd definitely skip the fruit plate; but come for the breakfast, kind service and nice atmosphere. read more
